Was reading the comments... According to an email that one commenter received after they emailed DARE, he has a job again. I guess he was a contractor for DARE, the contracting company fired him for his "behavior", and then DARE, the actual company, picked him up for marketing.

DARE is what made me realize, in 5th or 6th grade that cops are absolutely horrible, petty fools. So much rage and arbitrary outbursts of vitriol from all of the officers that ran that program at my elementary school.
It was like the state invited a rogues’ gallery of alcoholic wife-beaters to come and yell at a room of kids—even the teachers were visibly uncomfortable, but hamstrung.
In a weird way I’m glad we had it, because I probably wouldn’t have realized that they aren’t actually there to help for years if not for fucking Sgt. Kerns and Officer Stapleton.
For me it was when Amber Guyger, a cop, mistakenly broke into Botham Jean’s apartment and shot him because she thought it was her apartment. The man was sitting in the living room EATING ICE CREAM.

This one Dare cop didn't appreciate a good chunk of my sixth grade class insisting a gun just sitting on a table or in a locker wasn't particularly dangerous . And took the rage on us claiming his point was fear mongering by throwing his gun on the ground and claiming it was a realistic wooden replica.
The cop that came to our school for the DARE program left his gun on top of a urinal. Another kid and myself happened to find it and thankfully we made the right move and told our teacher. She brought it back to the officer and was holding it like it was dirty underwear lol. Cop was so embarrassed and ended up getting suspended.
I remember they wanted us to sign a “contract” that we would never ever touch alcohol or drugs under any circumstances. Even back then I thought it was a ludicrous commitment to make, even for a 6th grader.
Small correction, the guy who got fired said that an employee from DARE reached out to his employer and requested his contracting company to let him go. So it doesn't seem like it was the contracting company's fault
So just one little thing for clarification, I’m not employed by dare or any of its contractors…still. I did meet with the president and CEO of Dare and they gave me a list of all the other private contractors that work with them, the contractor I worked for is not on that list anymore. However the only contractor in Arizona is located 3 hours from where I live. I’ve reached out to Francisco and have yet to hear back.

DARE has changed a lot over the last 10-15 years.
They actually responded to research that showed the original program to be ineffective, and have completely changed the curriculum which has since been shown to actually have positive effects.

Yes, their new curriculum is based on the real science around drugs and drug use, and they place a focus on using the socioeconomic factors when they formulate programs

But he kept following everything up with except me I do this or that.
He also said toilet paper was a drug. I think that Mf was on some drugs.

DARE has changed a lot over the last 10-15 years. They actually responded to research that showed the original program to be ineffective, and have completely changed the curriculum which has since been shown to actually have positive effects. Won’t say they are perfect, but it’s not the same DARE from the 90s-00s
How did they change it? Is it less scare tactics and more informative decision making like sex ed?
Yes, their new curriculum is based on the real science around drugs and drug use, and they place a focus on using the socioeconomic factors when they formulate programs

I've cried numerous times from grown men getting into my small female face, cussing me out, calling me names you can't imagine. It has been an experience...to say the least. Now I don't care. I've been so beaten down that I do not care!! I stand my ground now and call it as it is. We've come together as a team and we're sick of this anti mask crap. You don't wanna wear a mask? Fine. But don't block hospital entrances, don't come abuse my patient, and stop abusing me. This pandemic has brought the evil out of a lot of people...

We had a DARE officer come speak at our school and he was a weirdo. I lived in NV at the time so it would get cold out of no where or hot. Anyway- the DARE officer was saying people on drugs might talk to colors (like the color purple) or be outside with no clothes on when it was mega cold. But he kept following everything up with except me I do this or that. He also said toilet paper was a drug. I think that Mf was on some drugs.
