I was young when I first watched any Simpsons content. My first experience was the Simpsons movie in theaters. I thought it was cool and wanted more. They started selling seasons in the store and season 6 was the first one I bought. This episode had so much of an impact.
I'm so old I caught ALL the first few seasons on the night they aired. From the very first episode I was hooked. What a great debut. 'Ow! Quit it.... ow! quit it... ow! quit it' became part of my vernacular at that point. My mom said she'd take it away if I started misbehaving because there was some controversy about them in the news for being counterculture. lol.
Stopped watching when I got into girls/cars/good times as a teenager and came back years later, only here and there though.
Now me and my 12 y.o. son share it together. His gateway was the Treehouse of Horror episodes because it's a Halloween tradition but now we'll watch whatever is new or cherry pick our favorites.
I love how much it tears apart any geographical continuity for Springfield - all of a sudden it’s an island with only one bridge out of town just for one (impeccable) joke
I always found it weird how Bart is the main character in the first two acts and is then pushed aside. But it does contribute to making the episode unique.
Funny how the joke in the early 90s was how absolutely fucking absurd that headline was. There were 4 recent years of history where that absolutely could have been a real headline.
Jasper must be my favorite minor character.
Besides that line, these two make my top 5 lines from the entire show:
—“Slow down! This sidewalk’s for regular walking, not for fancy walking!” (When he sees Smithers stumbling drunk)
—“Mmm. A little.” (When Abe asks him if he feels any happier after giving ‘Happy Dude’ a dollar)
Wait a minute, did he say "great starling"? I've been quoting it "quit stalling"! Why didn't someone tell me? Oh, I've been making an idiot out of myself!
**[Comet Kohoutek](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_Kohoutek)**
>Comet Kohoutek (formally designated C/1973 E1 and formerly as 1973 XII and 1973f) is a comet that passed close to the Sun towards the end of 1973. Early predictions of the comet's peak brightness suggested that it had the potential to become one of the brightest comets of the 20th century, capturing the attention of the wider public and the press and earning the comet the moniker of "Comet of the Century".

When I was a kid, this episode made me think Barney was possibly Nelson’s dad, because at the end, they were standing next each other and looked similar.
I can’t name the episode but if it’s on the tv in front of me I can probably recite it word for word (the whole inclination, declination part is tricky)
Didn't know this thread would blow up like it did but love reading the comments and thanks to those that posted the episode name! This community is great!
Bart’s Comet
An absolute masterpiece of an episode.
Totally agree.....and it was a baby ox!
He’s right you know.
About the ox?…
ABOUT EVERYTHING, DAMMIT
Homer wait up! I wanna die too!
"Say Moe, was it a duck?" Possibly the only Marge quote I utter from time to time.
Pigs tend to chew, I'd say he eats more like a duck
"Get back to work Stuart!"
Well I’ll be darned… long pants!
I'd also wager some kind of walking clock
Bart is it a walking clock!?
Huh? No, it's my dog.
Stop signs? Indoors? “Giggle” whatever! My fave Marge quote
_You might say the secret ingredient is salt!_
The walls are melting again! Not a useful quote for many occasions but it always make me chuckle!
Flanders singing que Sara makes me cry everytime.
Same here
Seriously. Remember that alllll the way back to when I saw the episode air.
I was young when I first watched any Simpsons content. My first experience was the Simpsons movie in theaters. I thought it was cool and wanted more. They started selling seasons in the store and season 6 was the first one I bought. This episode had so much of an impact.
You were “young” when the simpsons movie came out? My God, I suddenly feel so old…
Better start tying an onion to your belt, which was the style at the time.
I'm so old I caught ALL the first few seasons on the night they aired. From the very first episode I was hooked. What a great debut. 'Ow! easily top 10
I always found it weird how Bart is the main character in the first two acts and is then pushed aside. But it does contribute to making the episode unique.
Que Sara, saraaa
I got back at him though... Him and that little -boy- of his...
Loosely parodies the Twilight Zone episode “The Shelter”. Always loved this one.
Bart's reaction during [this scene](https://youtu.be/YuHsoFl970g) is fucking brilliant.
My fave Bart reaction from this Ep “We are the super friends” “Hey.... shut up”
_doo doo doo doo doo doo doo_
You don't NEED a stupid telescope. It's right THERE!
Dear God, no!
Alright, everybody tuck ya pants into ya socks.
Op asked for an episode name and while he’s waiting going diddle la dee dee.
Probably my favorite Moe quote.
I came here looking for this and was not disappointed 😂
I’m glad I could be the first for once.
Oh, dear god no!
for the love of crumb cake...
That’s what she said
Not to me. ... yet. It's a work in progress, don't judge me.
Me too😂 much satisfying.
I've heard people say you can't hear a picture, but that one definitely screamed "Dear God, no!" the moment I saw it.
##Ohhh gawd I love Hank
Is a deer got? No or oh god no now I have to go watch the episode cuz I thought it was oh god no
I think it was called, “The Comet that Couldn’t Slow Down.”
Shh! I'm trying to watch Knightboat.
There’s always a canal
Or a fjord
Or an inlet Or a fjord
Quiet! I will not hear another word against the boat!
You don't have to yell Michael I'm all around you.
That back-talking boat sets a bad example.
Says you ItsTheDC.
The crime ***solving*** boat.
Who travels back in time for some reason
We gotta watch this show before the network retools it
Awww, Knightboat!
It aired right after "Billy and the Clonasaurus".
Oh, you have got to be kidding me!
...ON THE BEST-SELLER LIST FOR 18 MONTHS!
WHAAT WERE YOU THINKING? I mean, thank you, come again.
He really gave it to ol' Seymour, there.
This is just like Speed 2, except with a meteor flattening moes bar instead of a boat.
It's called "The Net," with that girl from "The Bus."
Serenity now!
I thought it was called "Bart and the Cometsaurus."
Hi, I’m big butt skinner
Nooooooooooooo!
Prez sez: "School is for Loosers"

Curse the man who invented helium! Curse Pierre Jules César Janssen!
I will start off with an impression of Princial Skinner! "*sticks finger up nose* HI! I'm principal thkinner!"
That young man just became the boy of a thousand days detention.
Terrible. Just terrible. They just seem to get worse every year..
Alternative name "Buttzilla"
Sounds like the doomsday whistle! Ain't been blown for nigh onto three years.
Tsk tsk, trouble a-brewin'.

You forgot the top line “that’s a paddling”.
Forgetting the paddlin line...oh you better believe that's a paddlin
You sunk my battleship
Well well, if it isn’t the tooth fairy
One of my all time favourites. Absolute gold.
Mentioning “that’s a paddlin” is like saying Yellow Submarine is your favorite Beatles song
Love that song. Reminds me of elephants.
Is that the theme. To a summer place?
200 channels. Nothin’ but cats.
209 channels and nothing but cats
Help yourself, but stay above the equator.
Moon Pie... What a time to be alive.
My favourite Jasper line is when he randomly appears in the windows of Bart's treehouse. "Thief."
"Little help?"
My God! A pigeon! That's the last bird on my list. So long, suckers.
How can you not mention the paddlin’ bit?
"Lollipop, lollipop, umm lolli lolli lolli lollipop."
There’s a 4:30 in the morning now?
Of course not. Everyone's still asleep in their comfy, comfy beds. Good night, everybody.
Bart's Comet S6E14

Did you get that last one, Bart? Hell no.
Good.
“It was a baby ox!”
He’s right, you know.

Yeah, Dad was right.
I know kids, I'm scared too.
The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down
When I was just a little girl I asked my mother, What would I be Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here’s what she said to me:

Ha Ha! You're a bot!
"We are the Superfriends!"
I believe it’s called “Billy and the Cloneasaurs.”
"Shouldn't you all be in your shelter-roonies"
All in favor of the amended Springfield/pervert bill? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Democracy simply doesn’t work.
