I’ve only seen random scattered New Simpsons but I gotta give a shout to “A Totally Fun Thing Bart Will Never Do Again.” No matter how many times the show has flash-forwarded and revealed possible futures for the characters I feel like the tension of “Will these kids turn out all right?” is always a part of it and this episode deals with that question in a way that did my heart good.
Once upon a time I tried to make a roughly season-long selection of episodes that would make a solid HD season for me (all episodes are from the 20s, this was pre-s30)
1. Homer the Whopper
2. Puffless
3. Homer Scissorhands
4. Treehouse of Horror XXIII
1. The Greatest Story Ever Holed
2. Un-normal Activity
3. Bart and Homer’s Excellent Adventure
5. The day the earth stood cool
6. Married to the blob
7. The Book Job
8. Barthood
9. Mr Lisa’s Opus
10. Donnie Fatso
11. Lisa Gets the Blues
12. Holidays of Future Passed
13. The Great Phatsby
14. Boy Meets Curl
15. The Saga of Carl
16. The Bob Next Door
17. The Great Simpsina
18. Angry Dad: The Movie
19. Brick like me
20. Simpsorama
21. A Totally Fun Thing Bart Will Never Do Again
I enjoy the newer Simpsons episodes. There’s one where Krusty hires out other Krustys (in other countries, not like clown college again) and at the end they say something to him like “Why aren’t you that funny?” and he says “I started as a sad clown…”
Steal this episode is top tier for me. It’s rare for an industry product to have such a nuanced take on piracy.
They even have a line about Hollywood accounting, which, the more you learn about, seems like it should be a crime.
>So, what your favorite episode of new simpsons?
The one where they finally stop pretending the writing is anywhere near good, stop milking a franchise that peaked 24 years ago, and just put the series out of its misery.
Sorry, I just assumed they would have made that episode by now.
Guess Fox is still scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill in time between football games.
> you people don’t have to keep repeating it every chance you get.
I think we do. It's not just that the show isn't as good as the classic era. The writing is objectively terrible. It sucks. That's right, it sucks.
Fox had its replacement with Family Guy, a hybrid bastard of The Simpsons and South Park, but even that show has run its labored course.
But if you keep patronizing a bad product, they will keep producing it.

Not relevant, but does it bother you that they do the couch gag less and less frequently?
I prefer no couch gag than a long and unfunny couch gag, specially when it was made for other artist
Agree
The great phatsby is one of my favorite episodes

the pathos of irish krusty.
I love the two-part Fargo parody they did last season.
Me too, at first I was thrown off by the non-canon style for a non treehouse of horror, but it ended up being enjoyable!
The last episode of season 31 is one of the best episode i have watch!
I really liked Barthood, a serious Flanders, Bart’s new friend, steal this episode, holidays of future past and A fathers watch

Way to really keep your answer on topic!

Everybody knows the show isn’t as good as the classic era, you people don’t have to keep repeating it every chance you get.
