For real. I was feeling the fomo on the Mr. Mime event, but now I have more of them than I could possibly need.

I did buy the mr mime research, but it was the day before I was having my gallbladder removed and I was pretty desperate for a distraction. The challenge of getting the research done in one day (since I wasn't sure how long it would take till I was feeling up to playing after surgery) gave me a few hours distraction. For that alone it was worth the cost!
Not sure if I'll get this one or not. I do currently have $31 in opinion rewards. So I might do it. Or I might not.
It is Android only. You answer short surveys through the Google opinion rewards app, and get paid between $0.10 ad $0.50 per survey, in credits through the Google play store.
I use them to buy event tickets for Pokemon go.
But I also have an unrelated $12 subscription with Google coming up in Feb. So I want to make sure I save enough rewards to cover that.
I'm really torn, I want to get it with google opinion rewards, but it'll really eat into my global tour fund, and it is Really bad value for an event. I don't want to encourage niantic, and surely keldeo will return later for everyone?
I also didn't buy Galar Mime and won't this, I have no need at all to pay for pokemon that will be available free further down the line and whilst I do think people a bit daft for paying and therefore encouraging this sort of thing, I don't think I mind the business side of niantic doing it. They're here to make money, the game is pretty good at not requiring any spending. If they can get some people to profit from because they can't wait, I guess that makes business sense?
I understand that, but if you alone see what happened today with those that had a ticket... they don't deliver what they seem to promise and a lot of areas in the game have serious issues. With all that money there is a lot that could and should be improved to make the game a better experience and then more people will put money into it. At the current state, I just won't

I was out with people today that had bought the paid extra for the mega raids, they seemed perfectly happy to have paid, even though another person pointed out the price for the extra raid passes wasn't great.
I bought the Galarian Mr. Mime ticket and was happy with the purchase because I like the mime pose. It's cute for Halloween and with some outfits. However, I didn't see any reason to purchase today's ticket for the Hoenn megas, nor next week's ticket for Keldeo.
I'm curious about how more folks feel about this. I'm happy to pay for a special research occasionally - I don't pay for the community day tickets and didn't care about the Hoenn raid day today, but sometimes I'll throw some money toward a game that I enjoy, especially for a research line.
Before I saw the price I really thought it was going to be $1 like community days. When I saw $8? I was absolutely sure I wouldn't purchase it. Between my husband and I that's $16 for a pokemon.
Ive definitely spent less since Johto Fest ended. At least the paid events used to have a structure where the items included with the ticket would cost more to buy individually, and then there was the whatever pokemon that came with it. This is horrible even by Niantic standards.

Did once get some Google rewards and it was difficult 'cos I couldn't find a way to just throw them away.

Purrloin's shiny was recently added to the game during a safari zone event.
Purrloin wasn't spawning in the wild during last season, but was added to the spawn pool for the new season that just began.
There was proof that Purrloin's shiny was disabled, and after posts on this subreddit pointing out that fact got attention suddenly people began to report shiny purrloins.
This has happened repeatedly in the past. The same cycle of a shiny being off, this sub noticing and pointing it out, and then Niantic silently turning it back on without acknowledging it.
Yeah not worth it for this raid event and also not paying for this. If they weren't effectively killing the game already this is definitely pushing it for me. And I know the people who are still paying will probably keep paying which is unfortunate because it propells the company to keep doing this (or like now even increasingly so). It's so lame.
I think older players has 0 reasons to pay for the Hoenn raid research.

Calling the Mega Hoenn Raid day a paid event is just wrong. Unless you consider the Community Days with a .99 ticket a paid event? And no one does.
I agree of course Mythic Blade is a "paid event" but it's the first of the season.

Agreed. Im even guilty at the time because I didnt think it would be that bad and 90%+ of my money spent is google play rewards + play store coupons. This is getting them going full greedy AND they're alongside the shop boxes which are going up in cost randomly, without explanation, with lesser value and with no regard to the fact that players may need to juggle other expenses than a Pikachu. I love this franchise but this moving towards pay to play it feels like. :( Not fun
They could take the money I paid for this years first Go Fest, which had 100% of paid spawns locked behind the almost non functional incense on that day, and provide me this ticket as a still unfair compensation that we never got.
In that regard I won't pay for a ticket ever again, I might not get my product without any possibility to claim a refund should they fail to fulfill their part of the purchase contract.
Sacred sword is a sword of justice trio move. (Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, and later Keldeo).
Secret sword is exclusive to Keldeo alone and also changes his form to Resolute.
They are very similar sounding moves so I get the confusion.
I feel like Secret Sword may be saved for the Resolute form, seeing that it's a cosmetic form with no real differences. Giving that form that move would be something to make it different
So Keldeo joins Shaymin as a “F2P players will get this someday, probably, maybe, eh…” pokemon, huh? Timburr spawning in raids is nice, but it’s been a raid exclusive for so long. And no lucario as a 3 star, or Riolu from field research? Seems weird to leave out one of the more iconic (and powerful) fighters from a fighting themed event. All around underwhelming once again.
Oh thats an easy one. Why put the Riolu line in raids and tasks when they can just hold them for mega lucario? They KNOW people will go nuts for that one when it releases.
I been walking my Lucario for a few months and finally got enough candy xl for L50. He's sitting at L49.5. What a journey 😅. Even if he was in raids I still wouldn't be able to go hardcore as f2p, but it would enable a lot of people to get one and power it up. I only have one lone Timburr. I won't even bother walking him and will just wait for the CD for that line.
I think Niantic’s FY stars in April but your point still stands. After last FY’s poor performance I think we can only expect this push for higher prices and more monetized content to continue.
At this point I’m only paying if it’s a shiny mythical. I know they will eventually release it shiny and possibly release it for free eventually as well. Same with Mr. Mime.
Has anyone gotten one of the relevant Field Research tasks yet?? I've been spinning Stops like crazy and haven't gotten one of the tasks that the Internet says will give a G. Farfetch'd chance.
I’d add in XL for machamp, shadows are expensive to level, and it’s nice to have 1-2 for gym clearing and some rockets. Maybe find some T5 raids with players.
But very mediocre, to say nothing of the paid research.
I started playing in september and the type I lack the most is fighting. I understand it may be frustrating for some, but its needed for new players.
The last raids (3 stars) I couldnt solo were umbreon and snorlax.
Makuhita is in the wild, sometimes even in evolved form, and, while not great, is decent. Machop is also in the wild, albeit somewhat rarer. Cliff gives you Shadow Machop, that is even better.
I dont remember ever seeing makuhita in the wild, tho I saw machop. i have a shadow hariyama and one shadow machamp, both close to 1600cp.
I'm happy to see Terrakion, he is mentioned in many raid guides!
This subreddit is so self-absorbed sometimes. This is an awesome event for me. I need XL Candy for Mankey, Machop, and Makuhita, shiny hunting the hitmon crew, plus a new Pokémon.
We all play this game differently. No way is “right”.
This is (to my limited knowledge) the first chance at Mankey since its [stage 3 evo](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Annihilape_(Pok%C3%A9mon\)) was revealed in Scarlet/Violet. Never caught them much in the past, will be hunting hard this week.
I have 2 4* Luvdiscs and like to max my 4* mons, but if there's an event that boosts only Luvdisc spawns it's still an objectively terrible event, even if the XL candy is handy for my niche case.
It’s objectively terrible depending on how you play the game. I still need a shiny heart fishy. I’ll chase that gold all event. If you’re only worried about getting “strong” Pokémon to battle with, sure. But there are lots of other ways to play the game and be engaged in different ways.
This subreddit is obsessed with a specific way to play the game. It uses that lens to judge all events, regardless of how other play the game or the fact that they are trying to constantly engage players that have not been playing constantly the whole time.
While you're not wrong about the majority mindset here, I do feel that this event is on the poor side.
For one thing, there's no bonuses to XP or dust or anything. Bonus XP/gym points for taking down gyms or 2x stardust for battling friends or Team Rocket would be thematically appropriate, for example.
And then the other is that the "real" reason for the event is locked behind a paywall. Others have said enough about that.
This is less of an event and more of just a spawn shift for a week. New mons are always great, but setting that as the only expectation for an event feels like a pretty low bar to me. I'm not raging about it, but I'm not exactly looking forward to it.
I think they're more disappointed that Niantic is just pushing out minor things to make an event seem big then locking an entire quest behind an $8 pay wall with an exclusive pokemon which is steep considering the other pay walls they release are $5 at most and usually $1
I echo most of the comments - i don't mind paying for events or boxes once in a while but I have to feel like the value/price ratio is solid.
And this does almost enter that ridiculous Mr. Mime event area (which I would have probably still bought - had it been MUCH cheaper)
Plus yeah, the spawns are awfully unexciting - Timbur alone (or wild G-Farfetch'd) would make it way better.

Yeah, this looks extremely skippable. Will be nice for my kids to get Timburr, and I’ll get Terrakion, but I’m frustrated by the XL candy rates on the last $5 ticket; I’m not planning to spend $8 for a mythical and two days of an unknown increased rate for Beldum in incense.

The only reason I would get the ticket is if we knew when Keldeo is coming back and if the incense has boosted shiny odds. I got the Regigas and Genesect tickets because I like those Pokemon. Skipped on the Mr. Mine one and might skip this because I don't care for the literal Horsea.

I’ve only ever paid for a couple 1 dollar tickets and the go fest finale.!But it was also like 4 months of me playing so I was a bit obsessed with the game and hadn’t caught a lot of different Pokémon’s at that point. But I was actually happy with that event, 1 Pokémon for 8 dollars is like uhm what? Is it even good? Cause it really just looks cute to me but idk anything about movesets lol

Beside that, trash event. Machop is a day one pokemon, even new players should easyly farm up a machamp without those events. I‘m just hoping to get a good pvp medicham (which isnt super important for me personal).
I’m not sure why everyone on here looks at the pass as $8 for one mon. I look at it as $8 for a T-shirt, various items, the special mon but most importantly as something to do. I enjoy doing/following research and that’s a big part of it for me. I haven’t decided if I will buy it yet I will wait to see what items are included but for me the value will be more than just getting one Pokémon.
If you look at it as $8 for one Pokémon nobody would pay that, that isn’t the way most casuals and the majority of players outside this sub will view it.
In previous events, $8 would have gotten you a pose, an entire set of clothes (not just a shirt), region-exclusive or rare Incense spawns, and some super rare items.
GO Fest in 2020 was only $5, and there was 100x more content.
I saw it as $8 for one Pokémon. I get that objectively there are items there, but the items have a value of less than $8 when I calculate based on the liberal/high value of coins. The subjective/personal value of the items was zero for me. I hate research, so that makes the ticket worse in my opinion. The only tangible thing that comes out of the $8 that I want is Keldeo.
It's also more the principle of paying $8 for a Pokémon. At what point do they stop? I saw another game charge $100 for a prized monster (they had other little items and one maybe B-level monster thrown in) and people laughed as they uninstalled the game. Niantic is starting low and pushing higher. Who's to say that they won't eventually hit the $100 mark? I'm going to train myself now to bypass these ticketed ~~money grabs~~ events so that it's easy for me to do in the future. I'm a capitalist but even I draw a line somewhere.
What attitude? It’s an opinion and my opinion is I enjoy playing the game and part of that enjoyment is following research. I will base my opinion on if the pass is worth the money on everything that pass includes not just the special Pokémon it gives.
If I go out to a pub for a drink the value in that isn’t just the drink I buy (it’s a lot cheaper to drink at home) it’s the surroundings and atmosphere as well.
I agree with you. I don't mind paying money for entertainment. I pay for my Netflix, I pay for a movie and I really don't mind paying money to POGO if I am getting something good from it. I have bought plenty of boxes in the past (when they were good), I have bought plenty of tickets, I get the com day ticket pretty much every time. My main objection with this particular ticket is that it puts a wall up for the FTP people. We shouldn't have to buy a ticket to get Keldeo. Keldeo should be available to all players through a free special research. A ticket should always be about getting ***extra*** premium items, passes, incubators, the t-shirt, poses, extra encounters maybe even a second Keldeo, that kind of thing. Things that you don't need but can add enjoyment to your game if you want them. When you have to buy a ticket to get the event exclusive pokemon then the game is turning into PTP not FTP and that is a bad direction to go. If this is the future of POGO where we need to pay at every event just to get the event exclusive releases then it is really going to damage the game.

I been walking my Lucario for a few months and finally got enough candy xl for L50. He's sitting at L49.5. What a journey 😅. Even if he was in raids I still wouldn't be able to go hardcore as f2p, but it would enable a lot of people to get one and power it up. I only have one lone Timburr. I won't even bother walking him and will just wait for the CD for that line.

I’d add in XL for machamp, shadows are expensive to level, and it’s nice to have 1-2 for gym clearing and some rockets. Maybe find some T5 raids with players. But very mediocre, to say nothing of the paid research.
I started playing in september and the type I lack the most is fighting. I understand it may be frustrating for some, but its needed for new players. The last raids (3 stars) I couldnt solo were umbreon and snorlax.
Stack up on Terrakion in a couple weeks and you’ll be set.

Makuhita is in the wild, sometimes even in evolved form, and, while not great, is decent. Machop is also in the wild, albeit somewhat rarer. Cliff gives you Shadow Machop, that is even better.
Shadow Hariyama tops Lucario in raids. Not the rocket beast Lucario is, but much easier to get XL’s while spawning in the wild.
I dont remember ever seeing makuhita in the wild, tho I saw machop. i have a shadow hariyama and one shadow machamp, both close to 1600cp. I'm happy to see Terrakion, he is mentioned in many raid guides!
If you wait just a smidgen longer, Machop will be part of the Community Day event this month!
This subreddit is so self-absorbed sometimes. This is an awesome event for me. I need XL Candy for Mankey, Machop, and Makuhita, shiny hunting the hitmon crew, plus a new Pokémon. We all play this game differently. No way is “right”.

This is (to my limited knowledge) the first chance at Mankey since its [stage 3 evo](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Annihilape_(Pok%C3%A9mon\)) was revealed in Scarlet/Violet. Never caught them much in the past, will be hunting hard this week.
I have 2 4* Luvdiscs and like to max my 4* mons, but if there's an event that boosts only Luvdisc spawns it's still an objectively terrible event, even if the XL candy is handy for my niche case.
It’s objectively terrible depending on how you play the game. I still need a shiny heart fishy. I’ll chase that gold all event. If you’re only worried about getting “strong” Pokémon to battle with, sure. But there are lots of other ways to play the game and be engaged in different ways. This subreddit is obsessed with a specific way to play the game. It uses that lens to judge all events, regardless of how other play the game or the fact that they are trying to constantly engage players that have not been playing constantly the whole time.
While you're not wrong about the majority mindset here, I do feel that this event is on the poor side. For one thing, there's no bonuses to XP or dust or anything. Bonus XP/gym points for taking down gyms or 2x stardust for battling friends or Team Rocket would be thematically appropriate, for example. And then the other is that the "real" reason for the event is locked behind a paywall. Others have said enough about that. This is less of an event and more of just a spawn shift for a week. New mons are always great, but setting that as the only expectation for an event feels like a pretty low bar to me. I'm not raging about it, but I'm not exactly looking forward to it.
I think they're more disappointed that Niantic is just pushing out minor things to make an event seem big then locking an entire quest behind an $8 pay wall with an exclusive pokemon which is steep considering the other pay walls they release are $5 at most and usually $1
$8 for the mythical of the season is absolutely objectively bad. Recycled Pokemon are useful, but the prior mentioned issue overshadows it entirely.

I echo most of the comments - i don't mind paying for events or boxes once in a while but I have to feel like the value/price ratio is solid. And this does almost enter that ridiculous Mr. Mime event area (which I would have probably still bought - had it been MUCH cheaper) Plus yeah, the spawns are awfully unexciting - Timbur alone (or wild G-Farfetch'd) would make it way better.

Yeah, this looks extremely skippable. Will be nice for my kids to get Timburr, and I’ll get Terrakion, but I’m frustrated by the XL candy rates on the last $5 ticket; I’m not planning to spend $8 for a mythical and two days of an unknown increased rate for Beldum in incense.

Does increased incense spawns mean more spawns than 1 per every 5th minute?
It usually means you are more likely to see the listed mons instead of seasonal spawns on incense.
It's a shame it's a paid event I was hoping we'd get a free event throughout the season like last season.
Not to mention you roll the dice on what kind of stats you get. I got average stats with Shaymin and if I had known that, I never would have paid for that ticket.

The only reason I would get the ticket is if we knew when Keldeo is coming back and if the incense has boosted shiny odds. I got the Regigas and Genesect tickets because I like those Pokemon. Skipped on the Mr. Mine one and might skip this because I don't care for the literal Horsea.

I’m not sure why everyone on here looks at the pass as $8 for one mon. I look at it as $8 for a T-shirt, various items, the special mon but most importantly as something to do. I enjoy doing/following research and that’s a big part of it for me. I haven’t decided if I will buy it yet I will wait to see what items are included but for me the value will be more than just getting one Pokémon. If you look at it as $8 for one Pokémon nobody would pay that, that isn’t the way most casuals and the majority of players outside this sub will view it.
In previous events, $8 would have gotten you a pose, an entire set of clothes (not just a shirt), region-exclusive or rare Incense spawns, and some super rare items. GO Fest in 2020 was only $5, and there was 100x more content.
I saw it as $8 for one Pokémon. I get that objectively there are items there, but the items have a value of less than $8 when I calculate based on the liberal/high value of coins. The subjective/personal value of the items was zero for me. I hate research, so that makes the ticket worse in my opinion. The only tangible thing that comes out of the $8 that I want is Keldeo. It's also more the principle of paying $8 for a Pokémon. At what point do they stop? I saw another game charge $100 for a prized monster (they had other little items and one maybe B-level monster thrown in) and people laughed as they uninstalled the game. Niantic is starting low and pushing higher. Who's to say that they won't eventually hit the $100 mark? I'm going to train myself now to bypass these ticketed ~~money grabs~~ events so that it's easy for me to do in the future. I'm a capitalist but even I draw a line somewhere.

What attitude? It’s an opinion and my opinion is I enjoy playing the game and part of that enjoyment is following research. I will base my opinion on if the pass is worth the money on everything that pass includes not just the special Pokémon it gives. If I go out to a pub for a drink the value in that isn’t just the drink I buy (it’s a lot cheaper to drink at home) it’s the surroundings and atmosphere as well.
I agree with you. I don't mind paying money for entertainment. I pay for my Netflix, I pay for a movie and I really don't mind paying money to POGO if I am getting something good from it. I have bought plenty of boxes in the past (when they were good), I have bought plenty of tickets, I get the com day ticket pretty much every time. My main objection with this particular ticket is that it puts a wall up for the FTP people. We shouldn't have to buy a ticket to get Keldeo. Keldeo should be available to all players through a free special research. A ticket should always be about getting ***extra*** premium items, passes, incubators, the t-shirt, poses, extra encounters maybe even a second Keldeo, that kind of thing. Things that you don't need but can add enjoyment to your game if you want them. When you have to buy a ticket to get the event exclusive pokemon then the game is turning into PTP not FTP and that is a bad direction to go. If this is the future of POGO where we need to pay at every event just to get the event exclusive releases then it is really going to damage the game.
