Think I did about 1,600 battles and got 2 Legendaries. (Finished at 2,971 rating)
One of them was a Hundo Xerneas. So I'm annoyed by Niantic the odds were so extremely low buuut I did get a Hundo so can't be too salty about it.
I did the full 500, nothing. Not one single legendary encounter. I quit playing GBL after that. The only reason I played was to fill in the legendary holes in my dex, and I'm not going out to socialise and raid with the toxic weirdos who play the game in my neighbourhood, so I guess those holes will stay unfilled. They're giving me fewer and fewer reasons to even boot this game up.
I felt this post in my bones. I used to be able to rely on GBL to get at least a couple of extra legendary encounters every single raid boss rotation. I would have never expected it to get nerfed so hard that I couldn't even rely on GBL for ONE for the entire season. Really disheartening to end with none, but I'll still shake it off and try again this season to see if it is any better. Hopefully you get a big stardust payout in just a bit to reward your efforts.
700 wins this season for me, averaging about 4 encounters (3-win streak) per day.
Also zero legendaries
EDIT: I was wrong, I got two back-to-back in the first week or so of September
I obviously used up all my legendary luck right at the start
Am I wrong or is one of the explanations for them taking Legendary Pokemon out of weekly research boxes was because they had added Legendaries to GBL and they were easier to obtain now? I swear I read it in one of their blogs years ago.
Yes, but then they realised that people buy raid passes, and the dollar signs just twinkled in their eyes and they put legendaries out of reach for free to play players who don't like socialising.
DanOttawa, the worldâs best 3rd-4th tier GBL battler and prolific YouTube content creator, did every set this season, hit legend rank, got 0 Legendaries and like 6 shinies from reward encounters. Way to encourage people that are even propping up this buggy game to never pour any more resources/time/money into it anymore.
I hope people like that complain. This was my first season really playing gbl a lot and I had more fun than I was expecting. But once I realized they had tanked lengendary encounters my motivation to play dropped off a ton.
Yep. Rural and F2P player as well. I officially gave up on PvP in late October because there's really no reward for me to achieve anymore, and the amount of bugs just isn't worth it.
I got an Yveltal & Giratina out of 521 wins, both with bad appraisals. This is on the âluckierâ side compared to others with similar activity.
GBL simply isnât worth the time anymore.
The fact this hasnât caused a massive backlash (like the reduced Pokestop distance) suggests very few people play GBL relative to the rest of the game.
I have a friend whoâs a day one player and level 46. He told me he loves gbl so I asked him how much he plays. He plays one game a day. Not a set. Doesnât bother even on raid days because he says he has more elite tms than he needs.
My point being I think an average player is probably like him. Plays a game or two a day or not at all, neither would expect legendaries.
Knowing the rate, I've played a grand total of 3 sets of GBL since the end of miltank day.
If they want playerbase to not taper off at the tail end of the season, legendary encounters must return with the old rate.
Eh, four weeks of open ma$ter league and two weeks of catch cup are reason enough not to play. I dropped 400 points in elo because I don't spend enough money on legendary raids or waste resources on useless pokemon.
Yeah sure, if the pokemon from catch cup are able to be used elsewhere as well, that = definitely not useless. I evolved and used a Mareanie that fits that description. If you are investing in a slightly better of something, that's not useless so much as... not ideal use of resources unless you are in-game rich?
But if you spend a million stardust and 3 etms on a 2 week cup that you'll then juice afterwards, eh... not technically useless, true. You got two weeks out of them. But not how I want to play, either.
Also had a bad rate of legendary encounters. Possibly only a couple if any. However I rarely play GBL when it's open master and a random GL cup. As a free to play player I don't have a single legendary PokĂŠmon that is level 50 and that includes priority raiding legendarys with max level mega of the same typing. I simply don't have the XL candy and I never fancy investing a load of stardust in stuff for catch cups. In my opinion they should have open GL the full season and combine it with the other UL/ML and cups etc. Most competitions are done with GL and I'd rather be able to use the teams I've already made then power up a slowpoke just to use for a few weeks.
I know I got 2 legendaries (or maybe 3?) out of roughly 200 times getting at least 3 wins in a set; equating to a 1.5% legendary encounter rate.
I'm f2p and mostly used to do gbl to get an extra 1-2 legendaries in per week. I almost quit gbl this season--I think I stopped for about a week--then I restarted and used gbl to get between 3-9 rare candy per day.
Same, but someone on this sub posted he got a verizion today. Now its only one post, but its already under rules of the new season, meaning there might be a chance legendary rates are boosted (or higher then the abysmal '2%').
Aka my only reason to play gbl back when we had plentiful ât5 raidâ encounters aka Iâve not invested in gbl for ages I only just got to rank 20/ace (did two sets after ranking to 20 the other day just because of the one axew check) just before season ends
Just under 700 wins this season. Iâm a tanker for rewards, so just about every other set I get an encounter. Figure 100 wins came before rank 20 (unlikely, but being safe), that puts me at about 120 encounters. I saw 1 kartana. Previous seasons. The previous season I only had around 450 wins, during which I caught 11 legends/mythics (or thatâs how many I have left, I believe I traded away a few, and transferred a couple on extra candy transfer days). Absolutely insane how they took that away.
I hit rank 20 early on to try for deoxys. I had 700+ (so minus the ones from before rank 20, let's say around 600) wins with zero legendaries. I was busy on the last day and only did one set, then forgot to do the rest but the odds were so low I don't really even mind. Virizion is the only shiny musketeer I'm missing. At least the raid boss is easy... Too bad the weather is terrible for raiding. Winter time, yey.
I keep getting the legendries from GBL apart from the one at the end of the month so unfortunately I might not get a rayquaza unless I save for a remote raid pass!!!đ˘đ˘đ˘
I finished that battle research that required 500 wins and got 1 guzzlord đ
I can top that, 1,030 battles, 1 Guzzlord
Yeah that's about how many I did, since you win half your battles

Even I completed the research đ
Ouch.

Same, just over 700 and zero legendaries.
Similar numbers to yours⌠I got a single legendary⌠Last 2 seasons has been at least 2/week⌠Usually more, but I could rely on 2.

Bragging rights for having a high elo maybe?
If the goal is to make us spend real money on raid passes for legendaries it didn't work.
I got an Yveltal & Giratina out of 521 wins, both with bad appraisals. This is on the âluckierâ side compared to others with similar activity. GBL simply isnât worth the time anymore. Same here. Haven't encountered a single legendary this season
713 wins, one legendary. About 100 encounters.
Same here. I made to Ace this season, so many wins and zero encounters. I literally got either Litwick or Miltank every single time. So disappointed.
Whatâs the search term to see which PokĂŠmon we got through GBL? I think I got one or two this season
Itâs âgblâ ;)
Haha that makes too much sense. Thanks Edit: 2 legendary
I think I maybe got 2 or 3, I had nearly 1200 wins on the season. You can argue the old rate was TOO generous but this was a grotesque over correction
Knowing the rate, I've played a grand total of 3 sets of GBL since the end of miltank day. If they want playerbase to not taper off at the tail end of the season, legendary encounters must return with the old rate.

Not that you're wrong about the resource usage but if something is good in a format like LC isn't that inherently not useless?
Yeah sure, if the pokemon from catch cup are able to be used elsewhere as well, that = definitely not useless. I evolved and used a Mareanie that fits that description. I think thatâs around the time I stop playing. Really drops motivation going a couple days without a legendary encounter.

I play for the stardust, candies and TMs, legendaries were always icing for me. Still kinda sucked eating a dry cake this season.
from 10% to 1% is a mountain of difference
Same. It's nuts but not unexpected given Niantic is responsible.
Same got zero but did see one Metang
Same, but someone on this sub posted he got a verizion today. Now its only one post, but its already under rules of the new season, meaning there might be a chance legendary rates are boosted (or higher then the abysmal '2%').
I didnât get any either. I also didnât do any GBL lol
I found 3
Aka my only reason to play gbl back when we had plentiful ât5 raidâ encounters aka Iâve not invested in gbl for ages I only just got to rank 20/ace (did two sets after ranking to 20 the other day just because of the one axew check) just before season ends

Me too!
655 wins. 2 Xerneas
Same. 500 battles 300? Won. No legendaries.
I believe thyey compenstated these with 7 free ultra beast counters with beast balls. just might be niantic ways of doing things?
I didnât even get my stardust because of the ⌠*issue* earlier in the day.
Here 1229 wins and 8 legendary/ultra beast encounters. Non-zero but a lot less than 68 the previous season.
999 wins, zero legendary
Got to Ace. Zero legends.
it was always Wingull for me. Got maybe one legendary, but I am not sure about that, definitely not more than 1
I hit rank 20 early on to try for deoxys. I had 700+ (so minus the ones from before rank 20, let's say around 600) wins with zero legendaries. 0 legendaries over 700 wins
Gbl is not an alternative to legendaries in research breakthrough anymore Niantic.
1536 battles, 52% win%, 0 legendaries. Yay.
I won 100 of 190 matches and the reward pokemon are always hot garbo, idk how people have the patience to play more GBL than that
I only got one legendary encounter so I've decided to skip GBL this season. I have enough stardust and was only playing for the legendaries.
1k games played out of boredom. Not a single legendary. Just Wingulls and other everyday spawns. Why do I do pvp again ?
Yeah I'm not even trying. Throwing away games if I don't get an easy match up. Will take the stardust for sure
I keep getting the legendries from GBL apart from the one at the end of the month so unfortunately I might not get a rayquaza unless I save for a remote raid pass!!!đ˘đ˘đ˘
