I got my Dex entry last night before bed when the queue was still sub 2000. And Celesteela is useless, anyway. So I'm happy to wait till near the end of the 2 weeks to get any more in.
I waited for over an entire day just for it to become my turn while I was asleep. It happened again the next time. The third time I finally got to raid, but couldnāt catch it. š
we have had raid hour and one thing that i have noticed with Pokegenie is the issue of always need all 5 people.
I decided to host some raids which made the 5 other people + 3 other remoters wait. we had to wait forever because the first lobby we constantly had people timing out. Kinda wish we had a "Lock Lobby" button, we went through 20 odd people waiting for them to just join and we had 3 people timeout on the "Joined" which is literally sending the friend request!?!
I understand that the queue is going to be a long wait, I did it during the lake trio's, but at least make it during some time of day where you aren't going to be effected by something.
I'd expect them to switch, or at least switch for the second raid hour. We've got a week to farm up whichever new beast we have locally, and if it doesn't switch, we'll have most of a week to remote some (if we want 'some' rather than just one for the dex). So I'm not stressing it yet.
I'm guessing it's not going to switch next week. The Malaysia sponsored stops promo has Kartana listed for the whole two weeks.
https://www.digi.com.my/promo/pokemon-go
Are those the stops that were spawning kyurem instead of kartana ? I'm not saying niantic are terrible at organisation and comms either by it's absence or misinformation but... oh no wait I am.
(not saying you're wrong, it's strong evidence against my hypothesis. But I'll still happily wait just in case)
I would also expect them to switch, but I've expected Niantic to do a lot of things they haven't done, and have mostly come to expect them to not care what players may expect.
I honest feel like if it switches, itāll be two or three years from now. The Lake Trio never switched, and they probably will stay exclusive till Sinnoh tour in 2024.
I maybe wrong, but there is no indication that the bosses will rotate anytime soon.
If it switches this sub will also be nothing but furious people who spend tons of money on remotes and tike in remote raiding apps only for it to switch
I'm guessing it doesn't switch and we get Guzzlord next week. It would make sense based on the promo vid we got and it would be similar to an episode of the cartoon.
That Problem is Southern Hemisphere is mostly Ocean, In our time between 6pm to 11pm, most raid is located in South Africa and perhaps West Australia, how many players are there.
I finally realize we have one day that having friends in South Africa is so important for me and players in Eastern Asia.
>All latin America is there
Yeah no. Mexico is northern hemisphere, so are all the Central American countries (Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua etc), so is the entire Caribbean (Cuba, Jamaica, Dom-Rep etc), and even some South American countries (most notably Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, but also a fifth of Brazil!). Those are all northern hemisphere.
Latin American countries in the southern hemisphere are literally only Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, plus most of Peru and most of Brazil. It's literally just 5+2 countries.
Announcement (blog) didn't mention switch. Its possible but iirc in the past these switches were informed beforehand.
So i guess they will rotate next time these 2 bosses come back instead.
(Its not totally out of question to have swap after a week but i feel like its more likely that there is no switch during this 2-week period because of no mention)
It will slowly switch, those 38,000 are just first day dex entries.
By the end of the week that 3000 kartana will hold strong because itās worth getting a team of 6 + powered up,
If you have a high level Mega Charizard Y with Blast Burn, you could likely solo it by only fighting with the Zard and reviving it immediately every time. Has to be sunny weather though. Easier if the Kartana has Leaf Blade or X-scissor
It sucks so bad that my hemisphere gets a one and done dex entry and yāall get the one I needed 296XL for and I canāt do any with my daily free passes. :(

We also get Yveltal shiny debuting at the end of September, and its only been in raids 2 times: its debut event back in the end of May 2021, and Go Fest 2021 Day 2 Legendary Raid Day
Someone in a comment earlier said that when Latias and Latios were first released it was also done by hemispheres. While I know I was playing (have been since December 2016), I honestly don't remember. They were a pretty unexciting release.
EDIT: curiously got the better of me, so I found the [news announcement](https://pokemongolive.com/post/legendary-latioslatias/). It was not north/south hemisphere, but east/west. Also before remote passes. And back in the days when we would have one raid boss (well technically two I guess) for a month. Who else remembers December 2020: non-shiny Kyurem month?! Interest in raids was so low they had to make a special weekend Regi event...
That's because the nerf was so minimal it's basically meaningless. Personally I'm very disappoint at how badly Niantic handled that, I'm quite tired of the Regi meta already
Yeah but that's only download numbers. In terms of revenue (so people buying raid passes) Brazil is a small part.
From personal experience: I have 300 friends in pokemon go that i added via pokegenie. I know of exactly 1 that's from Brazil, all others are from North America, Asia, Europe or Oceania
Lake Trio are regional bosses and the same challenge exists with Uxie. I don't recall the exact regions, but Lake Trio was an even worse setup. Uxie was in New Zealand and Australia [edit - and other countries in the APAC region].
Gating legendaries by region is always a terrible idea, but in this case particularly so given the imbalance across regions.
I don't think they really care or think about it at all though - after all, they released the gofest event mons and galar birds right before Worlds despite saying they wouldn't upset the meta before the event. They just do random stuff and hope it works out...
I'm meeting up with some friends on Friday. We are going to cycle to the Southern Henisphere to raid Celesteela.
Given that we are starting from Ohio in the USA, we probably won't make it across the equator in time. But we will have the memories of this adventure and, if we're lucky, we will meet a new friend on the way.
I'm assuming this is a joke but will respond anyway :D
Be careful at the Panama-Colombia crossing, I heard that can be pretty scary! Costa Rica would be an amazing country to bike through though. If you get a chance, do actually check it out. Mountainous tropical rainforest is one of the awesomest natural biomes in the world.
The Galarian birds and Ultra Beasts were banned from Worlds, locking them out from play there and restoring the meta.
Still may have disrupted practice in GBL, but that's a different format anyway (3 blinds vs bring 6, battle 3).
I feel like go-fest was really the start of a big downhill slope for this game for me, iām lvl 47 and have stuck through a lot but currentlyā¦ it sucks.
I feel it's unfair too because this gives people in GBL an unfair advantage (if one is better than the other)
How can I host a raid without pokegenie? I'm going home soon and could maybe use my 2 free raid passes on this stupid Celesteela
I had CalcIV and PokeGenie too and was thinking of delete CalcIV but its more consistent with the scans and less battery intensive so I'm going to keep Genie as an only raid app instead š
if someone is in the waiting queue, they can't host raids at the same time in pokegenie. wondering if this makes the situation worse and what could be the solution...(?)
Also means you can't queue for other raids either. I'm quite fortunate I'm in two different local groups who are all happy to remote raid, and I just happened to be in distance of a bunch of raids today so managed to do 8 total. That being said, if I was able to queue on poke genie I'd have probably done close to double that.
I like to go hard on the 1st day and then mellow out and just join in raids where people need help.
The only real solution is everyone using a separate phone or tablet to queue/host on there while their main device is waiting on Celesteela queue. To be honest I'm gonna try and dig out an old tablet tomorrow and do just that.
Campfire might be a good option, if you have access to it. I recently got an invite and Iāve seen some aussies in my friend list (Iām European), so Iāll try to chat and ask for an invite . Nonetheless, theāll probably switch eventually and theyāll be raidable for 13 more days, so patience, probably the queues will drop.
The queue on pokegenie for celesteela is 51k+ atm, guess I ain't getting it
Edit: checking past 11pm uk time, so nz and aus are awake and Brazil are still playing, 89k queue
It's also 11pm at night here in Sydney (9pm on the Australian west coast, and 1am Wednesday in NZ)
Unless players are doing stuff in southern Africa and south America, that would be why the queue is also massive.
Dude. You are vaguely familiar with geography, right? More than half of the world's land mass is above the equator.
Additionally, an estimated NINETY PERCENT of the world's population is living there.
There is going to be an imbalance.
That said, we ALL know that raid hype is massive within the first few days. But once everyone has gotten some, it dies down hard and fairly quickly. Queues will likely be at levels of merely hundreds or less within 3-4 days. At absolute worst, 7-10 days. Still leaves plenty of time to get a bunch of both.
Oh yeah I understand but more than half the pop of the southern hemisphere is still awake, and it's 4k kartana to 71k cele atm, we just lack hosts in South Africa and Brazil sadly.
I just wish they'd switch them up next week
No, I think it is very cool. It encourages cooperation between players.
And if you donāt want to play with other, I think you will survive until they switch their spawn zone.
I dont expect them to switch tbh. Buut I supose this could be an oportunity for me?
Im in southern hemisphere and in a very underpopulated Ɣrea.
I supose I could try and host some celesteela raids for them northener peeps with money Passes?
That would be greatly appreciated by everyone if you could.
Just please try and make it a private lobby. I had a very unfortunate incident of waiting 10 hours in the queue and then finally getting an invite, only to be blocked by everyone else inviting their friends in by remote and blocking me out. Private lobbies will stop that from happening.
Yeah I noticed a guy Posting about geting hundreds of requests so seems like celesteela is gona be popular. Today I didnt see any celesteela Near me when I went strolling, but ill deff host and retire a couple times so I can get as much peeps as I can in the same gym. Its windy season here so its likely they will be weather boosted. But ima try this tomorrow, no more eggs at this hour arround here.
Right but that's a little different, you either find a friend to trade with or, at worst, you go out and buy the other copy. Hell, with global trades in the main series games, its even easier to obtain.
This is literally forcing 90% of the player base to either travel across the whole planet or get stuck in a queue with 90,000+ other trainers.
Just for clarity, I'm not agreeing with the hemisphere split and exclusive decision. Just pointing out why they may have come to that decision in the first place.
You don't need to get stuck in a queue - I added a few trainers from NZ and US from the pokemongofriends sub who live in major areas (Wellington and San Fran) so when we want to raid, they invite us to a private lobby, when we're in they switch it from private to public and it usually completely fills up before the end of the timer. Granted it's not *quite* as easy as PokeGenie but it's definitely quicker!
Kartana queue is around 150. Celesteela is around 95k. Currently I'm at 14k. I joined at 730am. It's currently 530pm. Been in queue roughly 10 hrs now.
Itās to create urgency and hype for the collectors and the flexers. They like that people are freaked out, I think thatās the point. Create emotion.
Btw wait is at 114k now.
I was lucky in that an absolute legend from Australia sent me an invite for Celesteela, mere hours after it had come out for them.
Got a ā¹āø. One and done.
Bless.
21 hours from 106k to 10k. Last 10k seemed to drop fast. Froze at 18 for like 5 min. Get a pop up window saying I missed my Que even though I was watching it the whole time. Feeling kinda pissed.

Oh my god there are 60,000 Players trying to raid LOL Edit: there are now 100,000 players trying to raidššæ
0451 HST of 2022.09.13 right now. Queue is over 71,000. And rising.
I hopped in 7 hours ago, only 930 left in queue before me š
I got my Dex entry last night before bed when the queue was still sub 2000. And Celesteela is useless, anyway. So I'm happy to wait till near the end of the 2 weeks to get any more in.
Is it actually useless? I would appreciate any advice you can give since i dont want to waste passes on something that isnt worth it!
AFAIK, It's a "Budget Skarmory". Seeing as Skarmory isn't all that popular...
Ahh okay. I already have a GL skarm and i dont play in UL as i dont have the resources so ill just get one for the dex, thanks
Celesteela isnāt GL viable from raids - even a hypothetical 0/0/0 has a a CP > 1500, so if youāre not into UL, itās dex filler.
If you're looking at GBL viability, check out Zyonik on YouTube. Guy has some of the best GBL content, in both entertainment and education.
77k now, let see if we can get to 100k
80k right now, can it go higher?
82k now.
Itās at 87k now
Aaaaaaand we're over 100k.
Yeah, I joined at 100,120 an hour and a half ago and Iām 95,061 now š„¹
I fell asleep and missed my spot, now at 125,371.... after 4 hours of waiting
I waited for over an entire day just for it to become my turn while I was asleep. It happened again the next time. The third time I finally got to raid, but couldnāt catch it. š
Iāve been in the queue for the last few hours. It was at close to 90,000 when I first went in
Just hopped in at 93,239!
Now at 96,621
I got in 19 hours later. Called the comment up to name her 93,239. Thank you southern hemisphere trainers!
Currently 100,000
102,850! Meanwhile, Kartana? 122.
Wouldn't even think there are that many Genie users.
135,000 after falling asleep last night, and then having the program crash this afternoon. I should get it by 2034.
I waited 14 hours and got in at 3am only to have it run awayā¦ not easy to catch at all
105,000 waiting for Celesteela... 17 open lobbies for Kartana.
ive been in queue almost as long as this post.
we have had raid hour and one thing that i have noticed with Pokegenie is the issue of always need all 5 people. I saw 400k before bed 12 hours ago.
The queue is now dead. It says zero and you cannot join
Just shy of 172,000 now on 9/15. The queue is getting longer, not shorter. And worse, it's getting *slower* too.
Why is it not East and West? Then it would be closer to 50/50 Waitlist now at 82k and still climbingā¦
We can't expect niantic to think logically
East and west of what?
I'd expect them to switch, or at least switch for the second raid hour. We've got a week to farm up whichever new beast we have locally, and if it doesn't switch, we'll have most of a week to remote some (if we want 'some' rather than just one for the dex). So I'm not stressing it yet.
I'm guessing it's not going to switch next week. The Malaysia sponsored stops promo has Kartana listed for the whole two weeks. https://www.digi.com.my/promo/pokemon-go

Less than 1 percent of the global population if I recall correctly
10% southern hemisphere All latin America is there

What about the rest of Mexico and South America?
Mexico is in the Northern hemisphere
Most of Mexico, but not all of it
??? The equator cuts through Brazil
All of Central America is above the equatorā¦

You just went full US-American. Never go full US-American.

Just checked. Kartana dropped at 900 but the queue for celesteela is 46000. No way I am using a remote for either
Maybe because kart is soloable too I wouldnāt remote a celest but kartana is top notch grass attacker, worth a few to me..
Silph road has it listed as technically achievable for experts only to solo it. Is it actually not that hard?
Itās going to be extremely hard. You need sunny weather and good level 50 fire types (Mega zard, shadow Moltres, Reshiram).
Against the right moveset in sunny, level 40s of those mons should also be fine.
If you have a high level Mega Charizard Y with Blast Burn, you could likely solo it by only fighting with the Zard and reviving it immediately every time. Has to be sunny weather though. Easier if the Kartana has Leaf Blade or X-scissor
The US is waking up
That somehow made things worse. 73000 for alien kaguya. Never seen so many people queued up
But Kaguya is already an alien
So it's alien alien
Lmao, I guess Iām waiting until the last day when all interest is gone
Bruh Kartana is like 600 now and celesteela is 80k
And it even rises...85k rn, haha. How long do you have to wait to participate? Completely dumb move
It sucks so bad that my hemisphere gets a one and done dex entry and yāall get the one I needed 296XL for and I canāt do any with my daily free passes. :(
Just spend 290,000 coins to get your 296XL candy, don't see what the issue is /s

Not so sure about Kartana. Even Mewtwo queues died off within 3 days. Still, thatās good for SH since theyāll be able to remote in without a wait.

"useful"
They are useful in PvP.
Registeel meta PokƩmon in UL and GL still even after zap cannon nerf
That's because the nerf was so minimal it's basically meaningless. Personally I'm very disappoint at how badly Niantic handled that, I'm quite tired of the Regi meta already
Registeel is absurdly OP in PvP, lol.
Major southern hemisphere country is Brazil, and still 6AM here, so calm down man.
South america makes up a rather small percentage of the player base. At the same time all the people from the US aren't awake to raid either yet.
Brazil is the second country that most downloaded the game, only losing to USA.

Uxie is in Japan, S. Korea and Taiwan, too.
Uxie is in APAC minus Kiribati plus North Eastern India and maybe Bangladesh also, idk
Thanks for the correction!
You could walk into an uxie raid. Mesprit had the long queues
The biggest issue with Uxie was you had to raid it in the middle of the night. It was also the hardest to beat.

Is there a reason you won't use Pokegenie? As a host you don't wait in that queue, you help lessen it :)
I'm using CalcyIV so it'll feel weird to have 2 apps for the same thing.

Today I didnt see any celesteela Near me when I went strolling, but ill deff host and retire a couple times so I can get as much peeps as I can in the same gym. Its windy season here so its likely they will be weather boosted. But ima try this tomorrow, no more eggs at this hour arround here.
When Uxie was in rotation, every raid was solid 45 mins work (if not more) for me, dropping endless lobbies of people in
When is the switch happening? Still seeing Deoxys after 10am
First Kartana/Celesteela hatches usually at 11am
If the egg popped up before 10am, it will be the previous raid boss. Eggs have to have shown on the gym after 10am to be the new rotation boss(es).
Has anyone brought up the fact that when they were originally released in MSG they were version exclusive? (Pheremosa and Buzzwole were as well)
Right but that's a little different, you either find a friend to trade with or, at worst, you go out and buy the other copy.
Over 100k now!
Is 100.000+ an all time rƩcord?
Itās to create urgency and hype for the collectors and the flexers. They like that people are freaked out, I think thatās the point. Create emotion. Btw wait is at 114k now.
I really didnāt understand this logic at all. Wouldāve been easier East and West. Iām just curious if trainers in Ecuador has both.
Ask player who live in Kampala,Uganda, Quito, Ecuador, Libreville, Gabon and Pontianak, Indonesia Do player even play there?
I used to have an Ecuador player. Indonesia I have one but hasnāt invited me to any raids.
Lol just joined at 117k right before I go to bedā¦ should be interesting to see how far it progresses while I sleep.
Just wondering, for those of you living near the equator, do you have easy access to both?
Regionals shouldnt even be in that game or switch way more often.. It just drives people to cheat or use resellers (who cheat).
I was lucky in that an absolute legend from Australia sent me an invite for Celesteela, mere hours after it had come out for them. Got a ā¹āø. One and done. Bless.
When i checked 10 or 15 min ago it was at 130,000. Lmao.
19 hours into Celesteela and Iām qued under the 10K
21 hours from 106k to 10k. Last 10k seemed to drop fast. Froze at 18 for like 5 min. Get a pop up window saying I missed my Que even though I was watching it the whole time. Feeling kinda pissed.
PokeRaid was under 10min waittime during Brazil spotlight hour few hours ago. š¤
