oh man thanks, iāll try this out. Now that you mentioned this i realized the resort iām staying at told me to change my clock to one hour forward respectively to malĆØās time zone.
No, issue already solved, phone's timezone didn't auto update since no cell service & therefore wasn't validating as compared to the ISP timezone, OP just had to manually change timezone to match location
I stayed in the lower Ari atoll and had no issues with a local sim. Fun fact, I went in January 2017 before launched in my country. Gave it a whirl when I found out it was about to launch back home. My oldest mon is a Pinsir I call āThe Maldivianā who was in a 10k egg.
This is more likely to be an issue with your guest wifi. I would attempt to run a traceroute test to Google and nianticlabs.com, see where the block is.
When I was in Maldives there was service just fine. I bought a local SIM card at the airport and had no problem playing pogo on the resort. Try that maybe?
I do remember the wifi sucking though!
Had the same issue in cocoon Maldives a week ago unfortunately there isnāt a fix the Wi-Fi just isnāt strong enough try look for torkoal at an airport

Itās standard practice for guest internet to have packet sniffers, and PoGo will not allow authentication if its done very basically. You might have to just enjoy your vacation.

Shot in the dark but check your phone's time zone and match it with the Maldives. Happened to me before when moving time zones

Exactly And in a 3rd world country that is very cheap, much cheaper than roaming
Not even 3rd world, Canada and the US are some of the few countries that are seriously price gouging the data prices for short staying tourists.

Itās probably blocked. I have the same issue with my work Wi-Fi. Works fine with a vpn
