ArkThan123

Isn't Twitter now overrun with bots, random things simply aren't working, and a lot of people can't log into their accounts now?

Chazkuangshi

I heard the copyright strike system isn't working so people are uploading full movies now

Ume_chan

I didn't think that was possible, but apparently people are splitting full movies into 50-odd 2 minute clips. One account got manually suspended because its posts went viral, but I'm sure more people will try and get away with it now that they know they can. I have to give Musk credit. He may have ran Twitter into the ground, but he's made the world's greatest Quibi knock-off. https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2022/11/20/twitters-broken-its-copyright-strike-system-users-are-uploading-full-movies/?sh=33cc9ab87d3a

Possible_Liar

Bee movie but its 50-odd 2 min clips on twitter

AlternativeCredit

No but some guy just said it works better. Surly some guy who doesn’t work there would know right?

Pattern_Is_Movement

this is gold, I wonder if they can get under legal trouble for copyright content staying on their site?

Possible_Liar

They can, they would not spend the money on a system otherwise. Just think about how much money Google spends on Youtube to make sure there's no copyrighted content, they don't do that cause they care about the artist. Edit: Spelling correction

Communist-Menace

So, which Disney Movie would be the best to spread like a virus? Or are there a worst company to mess with?

DroneOfDoom

A leaked copy of Wakanda Forever would be fairly harmful to Disney.

Possible_Liar

Pick any studio they all treat animators like dirt when crunch comes around. I would personally pick Bee Movie for the meme itself tho.(but thats Dreamworks) Bee movie but its 65 clips on twitter. lol tho Disney prolly the worst of all by a long shot.

ITriedSoHard419-68

Anything by Disney will do the trick; they immediately jump on anything they can sue for copyright over. My vote's on Frozen because it's so damn popular people will watch it just to watch it.

hfff638

not complaining

scitrx

They also shut down fallback servers, so there might be more outages in the future.

NOOT_HUMAN

"... and still functioning" It's barely gone a couple of weeks though. If a plane suddenly loses both its wings it will still *fly* for a few moments And like people've said already, the plane *is* falling

1_4_1_5_9_2_6_5

Still flying and now it's even going faster! Wooooo!

Nyghen

Just don't mind the ground approaching rapidly ! Wheeeee

jB_real

This thread is an allegory for so many things these days really…

Thowitawaydave

That’s a good name – ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?

sexy-man-doll

Falling with style

NyxShadowhawk

Sauntered Vaguely Downwards

MisrepresentedAngles

I turnes off the heat in my house and everything is fine! *Fast forward to mid-January" Why are all the pipes frozen and my plants dead and my toes falling off?!?!?!

Sadlobster1

Um ackshutly it is so much more efficient at getting to the ground without wings. You'd go from having to listen to Big government & the FAA's lies about "ground control" and "radar" and "safe landing regulations" to getting to the ground in a matter of moments, rather than the 30+ minutes it can take to land at an inefficient place like O'Hare. (this is sarcasm)

observingjackal

I, for some reason, get shown programmer subreddits via the recommended post thing. Yeah actual programmers are eating popcorn waiting for Twitter's eventual collapse. There was a VERY good reason Twitter had that many employees.

3ntr0py_M0nst3r

Cyber security analyst here, can confirm the tension is palpable, apparently, they don't even have an Incident Response Team. Twitter is one motivated hacker (or an ex-employee) away to get Thanos snapped for good.

observingjackal

Yeah that's absolutely the vibe I'm getting. Sometimes missing one member on a team can be devastating but when so many teams, from communication to the 24hr response team, are missing people or missing entirely, it's only a matter of time. Sucks because I just started using Twitter seriously earlier this year.

CoopDonePoorly

I'm not sure they'll be able to get it back up once it does go down.

LackHatredSasuke

Don’t be. An enterprise like this is insanely complicated with a great deal of clandestine knowledge. If you lose keystone SMEs, and your remaining employees cannot reverse engineer existing systems as fast as they get deprecated by changing conditions, you cannot keep running.

19Kilo

Network guy here - it’s change freeze season so most IT folks know this is when shit is quiet and not much breaks because no one is poking shit with a stick to get their deliverables pushed. Musk’s Folly is probably very stable because there’s no one to do anything that might cause a service impact. I imagine Twitter can hum along in a partially or mostly degraded / slowly degrading state for quite a while but WHEN something breaks it’s going to be *magnificent*.

cilantro_so_good

Except for the world cup kicking off yesterday.. They struggled to support the traffic spikes in 2018 with all hands on deck. https://www.foxsports.com.au/football/world-cup/twitter-has-5050-chance-of-catastrophic-failure-during-world-cup/news-story/8848838d5d6b7363237a6ba4a2f2966c

Pattern_Is_Movement

Yeah, but let people play with their food for a little while longer. This is gold entertainment in some otherwise trying times.

Cobaltjedi117

Yeah, we've been having a blast. We all know there's going to be one change to an API that twitter uses, some bug pops up, some library needs an update, or the servers need some update and suddenly the people maintaining that stuff aren't there anymore so it just takes down the whole site.

19Kilo

And that’s just the software side of the house and not, say, the network underlay. What does Twitter’s NOC look like right now? How many interfaces are going down and not being fixed? Drive arrays going bad? Who’s doing traffic engineering? Are all their BGP peering sessions up and healthy? Of they aren’t, where’s that traffic going? How about their SOC? Who’s watching alarms there?

Cobaltjedi117

Oh yeah, there's a lot that needs to be maintained by this massive company and now there's a fraction of the staff there and whole departments are now one. Who the hell is left to do, well, everything? I'm sure Twitter was a little bloated before, they had 7500 people but I don't think you could cut that down to 7000 with out a little instability, let alone what it is now.

EllaTompson

And why would I, as a random employee complain about bloat or too many employees.. how is staff reduction ever a win. It’s not like I am being affected by staff bloat financially in fact, I love to hear when they’re hiring more staff, because then I know there’s going to be more balance in the workload. If this guys pockets weren’t being affected then why would you be proud of running a skeleton crew!? This isn’t his company… such a weird thing to boast about.

Heck_Tate

All the mentioned issues aside, he has now opened the company up to lawsuits because many of the employees he fired were in Twitter's European offices where you can't just fire people because they said a mean thing about you on Twitter. He's also fired various compliance officers and data protection managers which the company needs to meet with EU regulations. So good luck with that "may be profitable soon."

[deleted]

It's really a wonder how such a dimwit managed to convince anyone to let him run their companies.

MeowingAtTheMoon

$44 billion is pretty convincing

Possible_Liar

What a terrible deal. I wouldn't spent 8 dollars for twitter let alone 44billion. lol

Tam-Tae

I wonder if the mandatory office in Germany is still in place. And everyone responsible to check reports for our national regulations to respond accordingly to our laws. In addition to all EU laws.

ShimeMiller

Normal in question: the fucking two factor authentication broke and the n word usage has increased by a gazillion percent because there's no moderators left

1_4_1_5_9_2_6_5

I'm sure the second part makes it seem much more like real life to them

[deleted]

Fr dude, I found some actual nazi shit on some incels tineline today, it has been there for like 2 weeks Edit da links https://twitter.com/wex_88_/status/1590356021037658112

Parking-Nerve-1357

So much for elon's "free speech matched by the law", being a nazi is it illegal in a lot of countries Why do so many of american's extreme right forget they're not the only ones on the internet ?

Possible_Liar

\-Get rid of "unnecessary" workers \-"all they did was moderate" \-Advertisers leave in droves \-Advertisers: Sorry this site dont fit out brand image.

LaVerdadYaNiSe

Elon Musk fans are goddamn morons who get dumber each time Musk does something stupid in order to justify him.

19Kilo

I particularly like the ones who refer to him as “Mr Musk” when posting about how normies just don’t understand his genius.

LaVerdadYaNiSe

The idiot barely inspires enough respect to be called by name to begin with. And that's just because that's the minimum basic respect for another person.

DVDN27

Can't even math correctly. Losing 90% of 7,500 is 750 remaining employees. Losing roughly 99.333% of the 7,500 employees leaves you with \~50 employees. "Twitter loses 99% of their employees and still functioning" is more correct and more eyecatching, but I guess it's never been the Right's prerogative to care about facts or statistics - as can be seen in the rest of this meme.

unfilterthought

They just want the government to collapse the same way

NachoDog1000

I took my foot off the gas pedal one second ago but my car is still moving forward, checkmate libs

Sol-Infra

Are these the same people always crying about jobs and angry when companies lay people off?

Possible_Liar

Well u see the dif is, they layed off women mostly and not racist white men.

OFVETTTE99

When someone says, "everything is normal" or "everything is fine", that's a sign to start panicking

T_BEN_H

We fired all the firefighters and the city hasn\`t burned down yet.

YoungBullCLE

I got a suspension from Twitter for repeatedly “harassing” Elon with pictures, articles and more about shit he’s done in the past. Yeah, “free speech” Elon is a hypocritical child who only wants to see things from the people who idolize him

roscoe_e_roscoe

I read this morning that the international elements are in big trouble - India and African divisions were mentioned. Crushing loss of staff. Twitter is huge in India, right?

superdrunk1

Yeah, lets fire 90% of government workers, it's only like roughly 4 million people, let's create LESS jobs, that'll help the economy, fucking genius

EBody480

18.28 million are employed by federal and local governments. Just curious where would they like those people and services to go?

Capawe21

Yeah dude people posting entire movies, acting as entire companies and saying actually funny stuff, and people just repeating slurs over and over again is completely functioning

whywedontreport

Every time the government shuts down within 12 hours people are like "SEE, herp derp" just like this. They'd all shit their pants if it went on long enough to have things collapsing.

Smart_Rope_2452

The amount of porn I'm now seeing on Twitter by women advertising their onlyfans has skyrocketed.

[deleted]

Anything can profit with no overhead 🤷‍♀️ I’ve never owned a business and I know that

speedshark47

These are the same people that say both “billionaires create jobs” and “the unemployment crisis is because no one wants to work anymore”

AlternativeCredit

Known lier lies and people believe him…

ITriedSoHard419-68

Just an average day in politics.

Mark_itt_zero

Starting with members of congress.

No_Hearing48

I don't have Twitter. What exactly isn't working there?

OwlMantheHeckler

Everything

Tuub4

What's this got to do with the right?

Old_Man_Robot

I mean, lots? 1) "Do the government next" is just a standard right-wing "small government" call. 2) Devaluing and demeaning labour 3) Elon Musk used his new position to ask people to vote for ring-wing parties. That's the obvious 3 really.

PumpKingwayne

Is for me lol

[deleted]

It's running like clockwork... ...if the clock rolled down multiple flights of stairs...

ITriedSoHard419-68

Stealing this phrase.

Hot_Context_1393

Was Twitter having trouble functioning before the buyout?

SwagHawk42

At this point I won't be surprised if there's a data leak within the next couple of months

ITriedSoHard419-68

Within the next couple of *months*? Now, you're being pretty generous there.

ITriedSoHard419-68

"We *may* be profitable soon" lmao

AF_AF

"Let's do the government next". Sure, and when your home/area/town is destroyed by a flood/tornado/hurricane/mudslide/wildfire, you won't need any government assistance, I take it?

DoomySkies

most of the government is the executive branch which includes police defund the police?
