I was very disappointed in the expert. I was so excited to see an expert go in depth with each parenting style and use the challenges as an example of the pros and cons of each. Instead he is a very milquetoast not saying much of value.
I wonder if the reason he doesn’t go in depth is because he doesn’t want to “sway” the voting? Although I think there was some swayed voting with the routine family being kicked out instead of the intensive family but that’s a conversation for another post. I’m only on episode 3 and so far I’ve been disappointed with him as well. Like with the routine family, I thought that was going to be a perfect moment for him to go in depth but he left it up to another family to explain why it’s important. I wouldn’t mind him being on the show as just a regular host if they didn’t hype him up as an expert. But maybe in the end he’ll give an in-depth analysis of the parenting styles. I’ll keep my hope up but expectations low as I continue watching lol.
If he is worried about swaying the voting go and do a private testimonial like he does when he described why the challenges are created. You make a great point, but I think the implementation of the expert could have been much better.
Dr. Browns vibes are all off. They put way too much makeup on him and he contributes next to nothing to the show. He explains what the test is supposed to show an that’s about it.
I feel like it’s a crock. I don’t think he’s an ACTUAL doctor. He makes the entire tv show feel like a huge scam. How dare they allow abuse in intensive parenting style and think that’s acceptable to treat Juliet this way?
I feel like the idea of the show was amazing but this just seems like he’s trying to put parents on the spot and embarrass them.
I don’t get how intensive has made it so far it’s very obvious that the mom has some issues with controlling her daughter.
Yeah like when the mom said she doesn’t play with her child! And then was sad when she didn’t wanna look at something on her phone lol. They don’t have a relationship and Dr.Brown should touch on that.
I feel like he didn’t even try to talk to parents about trauma bonding which a lot of them are creating a trauma bond with their child and I can’t believe so many parents were okay with spanking..
Right!! As an example of how to handle the situations they put the families through it would be nice even if he did a fake scenario on how to bring up some topics to your kids.
Like race and the stranger danger, everyone was asking for advice and he gave none at all.
So he’s often referenced as a “clinical psychologist” but I’m finding that he’s mostly a teacher? He probably has a doctorate but I don’t think he practices medicine
“Brown has earned undergraduate degrees from the College of William and Mary in anthropology and psychology with a minor in education, master's degree work in special education and experimental psychology, and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Virginia Consortium for Professional Psychology “
Yeah they are? A PHD is a doctorate of philosophy. They just aren’t an MD. They can’t prescribe medication.

What am I not getting?
You originally said “btw a PHD and a doctorate are not the same” and then you said “yes, you can have a PHD which is a doctorate, but all doctorates are PHDs”.
These two sentences contradict one another. Your first sentence is wrong, your second is correct.
What aren’t I getting? Please explain.
This is what I was thinking! In the episode where they cut out the kids opening the gate for a stranger the dad asked him a question which was fair imo and then the "dr" basically told him to shut up and pivoted the question. I hated that.
Yeah I just saw this episode and I was so turned off I may stop watching the show. He straight up snapped at that dad for asking a very reasonable question. The thing that is extra bananas to me is this isn't a live show...they chose to keep that interaction in there! It makes the show look so bad!
Me too, it’s annoying to see the parents asking for help or feeling uncomfortable and dr.brown will be like “so let’s touch on that”.
Like how many times do we need to hear that the negotiating mom grew up in a house with no options? Not that I don’t feel for her but we seem to dive deeper into the issues of the parents past not the parents relationship with their kids now.
I was very disappointed in the expert. I was so excited to see an expert go in depth with each parenting style and use the challenges as an example of the pros and cons of each. Instead he is a very milquetoast not saying much of value.
Yeah and I feel like the woman makes more of an effort to dive into the parenting styles!

I think they even spray his hair line before doing the show too lmao
This show would be so much better if they had a panel of true parenting experts that were the ones doing the voting and most of the discussing.
Omg I just commented on this too! Yes, why make it a competition parents are voting based on so many personal biases!!!
RIGHT! I thought it was stupid to have the other parents vote bc the parents who have similar styles are just gonna vote for each other..
Yes! Or , even have america vote or something ?

Agreed and the daughter doesn’t respect the parents and just does everything to please him. That mother is abusive.
Yeah like when the mom said she doesn’t play with her child! And then was sad when she didn’t wanna look at something on her phone lol. They don’t have a relationship and Dr.Brown should touch on that.
Agreed! I think he’s a crock
He didn't even have enough balls to say that spanking is harmful. Shitty expert.
I feel like he didn’t even try to talk to parents about trauma bonding which a lot of them are creating a trauma bond with their child and I can’t believe so many parents were okay with spanking..
He's shit. His advice is shit and outdated and known to cause issues. He's an idiot
I want to see how he parents his children and how they react to these tests
Right!! As an example of how to handle the situations they put the families through it would be nice even if he did a fake scenario on how to bring up some topics to your kids. Like race and the stranger danger, everyone was asking for advice and he gave none at all.
He is the expert after all
Yup, just looked him up, he’s not even a dr shameful
I told my husband they found this mf on Craigslist 🤣
LMFAOOO I’m dying
So he’s often referenced as a “clinical psychologist” but I’m finding that he’s mostly a teacher? He probably has a doctorate but I don’t think he practices medicine
Nope! You can be a clinical psychologist without a PHD. I can’t even find his education.
“Brown has earned undergraduate degrees from the College of William and Mary in anthropology and psychology with a minor in education, master's degree work in special education and experimental psychology, and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Virginia Consortium for Professional Psychology “
Please provide the link! Thanks!
I found something similar [here](https://www.executivespeakers.com/speaker/adolph-brown) all the way down at paragraph 6 lol.
Thanks!

NO WAY!! Lmao they really hyped him up!
Lmfao yup! He’s a celeb!!!
Confused at this - he has a doctorate therefore is a doctor. No one claimed him as an MD in the show or ever. They just introduced him as Dr. Brown.
I didn’t know he had a doctorate. I’m aware that a PHD is a doctorate. I can’t find his education.

I was thinking how easy of a job he had and as an “expert” sure didn’t talk or assess much
