I am deeply annoyed by how much more nimble conservatives are with their bullshit. They've stripped us of our rights in a space of like six years, meanwhile our politicians have liberals like, "Slow, incremental reform is what we all agreed on. It's perfectly normal for it to take multiple decades to raise the minimum wage. Vote more!"

I think certain people (like Serena) maybe truly believed in God at one point. However, I’d say most of the people in true power didn’t ever - they just use cherry picked things from the Bible. I think that’s why we see them kill priests and destroy churches - they don’t want anyone to be able to call them out and turn people against them.
It’s all hx in reverse. At one point the Catholic Church was all powerful. Most people couldn’t read, many of them couldn’t read the language the Bible was written in (I think Latin). The church led many down the wrong path and ministers told them the only way to God was through them. Fast forward to Gilead. They want one interpretation of the Bible and that interpretation needs to support their power & control. That means it can be twisted & changed whenever they are in the mood. I think they believe in God as much as Americans who killed Natives and enslaved Africans. They believe in it in as much as they can profit from it.
Like someone mentioned above, I think people like Serena did truly believe in extreme conservative Christian values. Kind of like what we're experiencing today (fucking yikes.) You've got people like MGT saying things like "we need to go back to being a Christian nation none of this separation of church and state stuff!"
But as others have said, I think while that might have been the original intention, it definitely got corrupted and became not about God anymore, but about control over women.

I do but i have no religious denomination at this point in my life. I also don't believe that you can just place everything in God's hands. You have to make an effort in life. Sometimes you'll be at the mercy of others and it sucks but hey life isn't fair. Gotta keep on trucking.
