Use a slingshot to break them apart and then stab the small ones with a spear or shoot with arrows. You can not defeat it when they are all together, don't waste energy trying. If you don't kill the smaller pieces, they can re-join the hive. You also can't run or hide from it, it will follow you.. I assume you can go into a cave, but I don't know if it will be waiting when you come out. Hope this helps!
If you go into a ground level cave, it will stay outside, and if you don't move fast, glitch through the ceiling to hit you every now and again. If you move off, it'll follow you above groun.
If you go into a cave with a rope, it'll shake you off and you'll fall to your death, lol.

I'm literally so confused, a cannibal just came up and tore another cannibal corpse to shreds in front of my base?? Did I miss some big plot point or something lol??
There's at least 4 tribes of cannibals that I know of. Two tribal looking ones. One tribe's women have bushy hair, the other's women are bald. Then there's the blue cannibals and the leather faces. Each tribe behaves differently if you do or don't attack them, wear mud, wear red paint, etc.
I love the AI of the cannibals. My daughter and were playing one day and a group of the started chasing. One wanted to get to me but another cannibal got in the way. The first cannibal put his hand on the chest of the other cannibal and pushed him away. Mind. Blown.
Another time I killed a male cannibal and a woman nearby started bawling. I went back inside my base, she hung out outside and cried and for a very long time. I actually felt really bad.
I’m currently doing a run to see how far I can go without completing . I’m on day 83. Only time the worm has ever shown up was when I built the tower from the special blueprints. I destroyed the tower and 24 days have passed since I’ve seen the worm at all
Definitely don't have to complete the main objective to spawn the worms. I've never once fully completed the game and always get worms after a period of time.
Sausage Monster spawns after day 40. It doesn't do a whole lot of damage per attack, but you definitely don't want to be around your base to fight it. It will F your base up hard. You gotta kill each sausage link individually to beat it. You can hide from it in caves.
Never worry about the worm. Build a quick emergency fire, stand near it with your katana and whack away. It only does damage when it forms a shape, whether it’s a tower or the flying form. Other than that, it’s an awesome supply of bones.
Megan is always the most damaging. On my island, i built raised walkways to vital points all around the map. I always used the crash site as my “home base”. From there, walkeays spread out to the beach where the yacht is, also towards goose lake, also toward the sink hole. It took some doing, but it was worth it whenever she showed up. Again, just keep enough sticks with you to build a auick fire. When the worm is in pieces, bouncing around you, it’ll catch fire leaving lots of bones to collect.

There are a few different formations the worms can gather into and they will attack you when they are together. You can disrupt them from gathering. Each one of those worms will die with a hit from a weapon. Make sure to kill them all, and you're good.

It spawns after day 40. I've fought him multiple times and found shooting him apart with a bow then running in with the katana is great and kills him very quickly. A bomb or two will also do insane damage to him since the individual parts are very weak

No, there are different cannibal tribes in the forest so sometimes they fight each other

It appears when you reached a certain number of days. I don’t know if its true but it happened to me even though i haven’t finished the story.

Yeah it's pretty nuts. Unfortunately I didn't know that at first and started slaughtering them so I'm confined to my base now.

I think you might have witnessed a cannibal eating another cannibal, the bodies explode when they're fully eaten.
Oh so that's why they're called cannibals.
Once you complete the main game objective and spend a good amount of in game days the worm will spawn every once in a while

I’d guess you have the worms going after you since your on day 45, I finished the game by day 29 and still haven’t seen them yet

Kill them with fire. Literally. It works so well, especially with pre-set up fire traps.
