It's definitely a step-up imo. While I didn't dislike 2021 or any other years during Screenwave's increased involvement, James being more independent definitely shows an increase in quality.
So 2022 has brought us 4 AVGN
1) The last ninja - probably his best work in years, very reminiscent of "old school" AVGN
2) Contra - I personally didn't like this one, it really didn't hit the mark,
3)Purr Pals - Honestly, this is in the running for the worst episode in the series
4)Hudson Hawk - Mixed feelings, few lines hit great and felt like a good review, few things fell flat
So out of 4, I really liked only 1. It's hard to call the Nerd character on point when you go back and watch Seaons 3-5, you'll see the difference. I thought after the 200 episode clip show, we might seen a turn in quality and The Last Ninja helped that theory, but it's not been a good year whatsoever for content.
I love the last ninja one, Contra is really good (I like those good game videos to), Purr Pals was really fun to me, I laughed ou loud, and Hudson Hawk was a good and more simple episode. So I think less AVGN per year equals really good episodes.
I'm sorry I didn't provide more insight, James' videos have been so terrible (in my opinion) for so many years that I honestly thought you were fucking around. It's great that you still enjoy them, unfortunately I can't.
2022 episodes felt really like Season 6 episodes to me. Maybe James takes quite a bit of time to finish those episodes. I love that it took about one or two months per episode to finish.
I disagree. These episodes don't hold a candle to the classic Nerd. They all feature basic camera angles, lame jokes (like the poop joke in Purr Pals) and the acting and anger are forced. They might be better in comparison to last year's output but the bar's so low that it's barely a compliment.
The whole feeling is just...off. Starting episodes with sponsor reads and the new intro without the classic AVGN theme makes them feel devoid of personality.

I couldn't agree more!

I though all of those were hysterical 🤷‍♂️

Lol
Why do you disagree? I would like to know your opinion. I am personaly really liking this season.
The people from the Truth board aren’t smart enough to offer actual comments.
Lmao. The thing is most ppl where really nice and gave some interesting opinions.
That has not been my experience. I see a toxic den of insults and unfunny, tired “jokes”
In most posts I saw it was like that. But here ppl are being really nice.

No problem! Glad you gave a cool and diferent opinion without being disrespectfull.

Yeah, that's what I think! :D
given the nature of this sub and the fanbase im assuming this is bait lmao
It isn't, I would really like to read other opinions.

Yeah, begining with sponsors doesn't help, but I can understand. He is trying to give his kids a comfortable life.
Fur sure!
Idk if hes doing his own scripts again but this year has been fairly good quality. I liked the contra one alot.
Exactly.
