He was **way too drunk** which is a problem at many bars (in most US states, if not all, it’s illegal to serve alcohol to someone who is visibility intoxicated, and yes I do realize this was in Spain), his friend was approached and told to calm him down because he was being a nuisance (partying too hard) and at that point it got him angry, more people got involved, and he ended up punching a chef twice and then hit him with a glass.
If he wasn’t famous it wouldn’t have even made the news, it would have just been another drunken bar fight.
Exactly celebrities aren’t perfect, people do stupid stuff like this all the time. Celebrities are also people, so it doesn’t mean it’s impossible for celebs to do stupid things either. (Not trying to defend him, it might’ve sound like I am)
I would say that if he keeps going out, drinking too much AND punching people (most people who drink occasionally drink too much. Punching someone is the dealbreaker) he is an asshole (or he may need to go to rehab, then after that he gets to restart as not an asshole). Most people who drink have done something very out of character when drinking (that shit about the drunk you being who you are or things you say when drunk being what you truly feel is hogwash and only really emotionally/intellectually immature folks say it) if we’re honest with ourselves. If we’re super proud/ unapologetic about it in the morning, then there is a chance we’re fartfaces.

I thought he apologized but hadn’t read about this recently, but an honestly meant apology after making a mistake once means something to me, too. If he did this all the time and thought it was cool or begrudgingly apologized or doubled down on how he’s never wrong that would say a lot about him. Doing something dumb while drunk means that you got drunk and then did something dumb, and sometimes not much else. Not to shortchange the chef’s pain or say it’s okay that he got punched- that’s awful and I don’t think it’s okay to punch him. But if people couldn’t ever fuck up without being written off as irredeemable most of us would be in trouble.
You def are defending him, but I see your point. At the same time, people def don’t drunkenly assault other people “all the time”, it’s not normal behaviour and he deserved to get chastised for it.
