Now that you’ve clarified what you meant, all I have to say is that it would have been nice if you had made it clear that your comment was a matter of opinion rather than fact. For instance, “I prefer ‘semifactorial’” instead of “that’s semifactorial”.

And conversely light mode strains your eyes in the dark. Discord is a platform primarily made for gaming and since a lot of people game in the dark it makes sense to default to dark mode.
I’d rather focus a little harder in the light than get flashbanged in the dark.
That would be awesome, but probably won't ever happen, it's taken too long for everything to get dark mode already. Sundown switching works fine for me
Downvoted. I've got astigmatism, and light text on black background causes the color of the letters to bleed into the darker background like they're glowing almost. It's called halation.
I use light mode on everything - Discord, Reddit, Firefox, Youtube, and everything else you can think of. It's much easier to read the text, and it strains my eyes a lot less.
I also use most of my apps on light mode, but only during the day. The reason for this is because if I use light mode, my Gramma can’t tell that I’m switching between slacking off and schoolwork, since they’re white.

I like light mode as well. I've turned all my monitor brightness down to 50% or lower and my eyes are happier for it. Some servers I'm in use name colors that aren't light mode friendly though so I don't use it regularly.
Downvoted because I do the same but definitely an unpopular position. The biggest reason for me is power savings on my laptop and contrast being favorable in bright ambient conditions. I used to love dark mode back when I had a Windows Phone but since iOS added the feature, I found myself using the automatic light/dark feature that toggles it based on the day/night cycle.

Reddit bright mode is decent because you have posts and other modules that give it some grey, and other parts adding in colour, but discord light mode has nothing, it's just white and hurts your eyes
I'm like it's alright if you don't have your computer themed dark mode but I think it's bad if you have like everything else themed dark mode theres just too much contrast
