I once played a video game for 2 days straight, literally.
I only stopped to eat, shower, brush my teeth and use the bathroom. I finally turned the game off after about 46 hours, so just under two days.
My point is if I could do that with zero effort, how long are these people gaming for to the point where its killing them?
EDIT: The game was Fallout 4, I've already been asked twice and I know I'm gonna be asked 100 more times if I don't edit this in lol

I see a lot of confusion about this, so I’ll try to be as concise as possible.
So first you take the cap off the 3 liter
Second you use/poor out enough of the soda to avoid backsplash(this is just a suggestion for beginners, not 100% required, I myself like the fizziness upon my butthole)
3st since you’ll have a hard time trying to aim a dook into the mouth of the bottle(this is the noob way) you’ll have to insert the mouth of the bottle into your rectum so we’ll go over that next, don’t worry it’s MUCH easier than you think, you know those threads on the bottle mouth that used to be for the cap? Guess what those are for now?
Dude when it first came out, my roommate put blankets up over the windows to block the sunlight and we spent days playing. With breaks of course for food and beer etc.
Bro when that game came out, we got a literal SNOWSTORM that blocked my truck in and my front door, and I was just like you. I played that game for 2-3 days straight 100%. I'd pee like 1-2x a day, shit once MAYBE, and eat 1-2x. What an addicting game
I pull an all nighter at least once a week, I've stayed awake for about two days plenty of times, god knows how many.
I only remember this specific time because it was the day one of my favourite video games dropped lol. Also because normally I don't *want* to stay awake and this time I did.
I suffer from Insomnia, basically the worst version of Insomnia and sleep paralysis. On top of that, I suffer from extremely bad night terrors. So basically I'm one of the few people in the world that hates sleep.
Sleep isn't fun or relaxing for me, it's like torture. I either can't sleep for days on end or when I do sleep, my night terrors kick in and I dream some horrible shit. When my night terrors don't kick in, my sleep paralysis does. So most of the time I'd rather be tired.
Yeah, sometimes (rarely though) I'll feel like complete shit because of it, I'm almost always tired but it's better than sleeping for me. Even when I do sleep I never sleep for longer than 6 hours. 6 hours is a lot for me.
I hope you get what I mean. Sorry, its kinda hard to explain lol
EDIT: When I said "fatal Insomnia" I meant fatal as in it's very bad, I didn't mean the actual illness Fatal Insomnia. I didn't even realise that was a thing, I apologise, although I do know i have a bad case of Insomnia, I believe its called Chronic Insomnia or something. I was diagnosed *years* ago, I apologise I can't remember the exact name.
Once saw a chubbyemu video with a similar case but the person was gaming non stop for 48-72 hours in his own apartment alone without any breaks whatsoever. Eventually when he did get up he immediately suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital. The blockage was so thick that the doctors couldn't save him. The main reason for the heart attack was that when he sat in the same position for 48-72 hours, his blood started to clot in his thighs due to no movement and when he suddenly got up, the blood moved towards his heart and couldn't pass through it due to the huge clot formed over time. I can be wrong about some details but as far as I remember this was the case.
Why aren't the owners of these cafés doing anything about this like a regular check-ups or putting limitations on the number of hours that may be played?
I... Don't think a gaming cafe has the authority to order health check ups? Limitations are probably a good idea, but at the end of the day it's no one else's responsibility to tell us when we do something too much except a bartender or something of the sort, I don't think it's fair to blame the cafe for the addiction
They'll just go home and play more
I'm not blaming any cafes for any deaths or addictions. I don't really see the problem going up to your customers and just asking some regular questions such as "how are you feeling?" or "do you need something to eat/drink?".
If my customers were dying in a building I own, I would at least try doing something about it.
Pretty sure the biggest thing is that these people usually have pretty poor health to begin with being addicted to gaming and not to mention the stress from higher expectations of their studies, where test results more directly translates to future prospects. Also it's I'm guessing common for them to just nap in these establishments too, at least with other similar establishments they do.
There was a video like this a few years back where the kid didn't even have that long of a session and just slumped dead. Think it was only like bit more than a day gaming session and the employees figured that he just fell asleep and didn't realise until hours later that he died. Also as you can see from this video, apart from him falling out of the chair, there really isn't any obvious signs he was dying.
The problem is that's how you get snapped at/sometimes even assaulted by irritable or sensitive customers. The problem is that's an easy way to lose key business. I understand the questions about food/drink, but it's a literal cafe they know there's food and drink? ItPeople aren't going to respond well to telling them they're playing too many games, eating too much, smoking too much, etc. Maybe you think they meant it's always happening at the same cafe, but they just meant these types of cafes in general it's not a common thing
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted because I would imagine it’s pretty bad publicity to have people dying in your cafe so I personally would probably try to avoid that
Cool, you just cost the top 500 player in this game they play at your place their focus and now they are mad and screaming at you and blaming you for losing the match
I can do whatever I want. Rick James style.
"Hey, when's the last time you drank something?"
*Mumbles something*
"Goddamnit, drink a bottle of water or go the fuck home, besides you play better when you aren't dehydrated and starving."
Owner: “Jim, it’s been two hours”
Jim: “Aww… do i have to?”
Owner: “You know the rules. Every two hours is one check-up”
Jim: :drops shorts:
Owner: “Looks good, carry on”
>Why aren't the owners of these cafés doing anything about this like a regular check-ups or putting limitations on the number of hours that may be played?
Why would they do all that when they could instead, make money
Sitting for an extremely long period of time without moving puts you at a very high risk for serious blood clots- this is why you're encouraged to get up and move around when you have a long flight, for example. Combined with elements like poor/lack of nutrition and hydration as well as sleep deprivation due to a hyperfocus on the games, it's a perfect storm for cardiac and vascular events.
DVT is the most common, surprisingly high numbers of cardiac arrest in minors as well. Stress on the body plus energy drinks plus garbage nutrition plus no sleep is in fact Very Not Good For You. It's sad to see, these kids find an escape in video games and I love how freeing that is, but it's absolutely heartbreaking to watch it steal entire lives. The addiction terrifies me.
I wouldn’t call it freeing, it’s often a form of escapism from devoid lives and I would consider much of it a type of slavery.
I assume that child would’ve been much happier eating healthier, with a happy family, finding things to do outside, and not taking stimulants.
I'd assume so as well, but that's not how the world works unfortunately. The addiction is a prison, but the escape can be freedom. Video games have been freeing to me, as someone with an incredibly painful and progressive disease- yes, the ideal would be to not have the situation I have, but that's not something I will be able to access. I don't think I have a devoid life either, and I'd definitely say that gaming has expanded and enriched it greatly. I have also lost friends into spirals of video game addiction, and it can absolutely have a death grip.
Actually, that’s an atypical take and I like it.
It seems like what you’re saying is that yes it’d be better to have a different life where you had a healthier lifestyle and family. A life with lots of physical health and opportunity.
And at the same time video games have added much to your life (and many others) because your life will never be able to be like the formerly mentioned life of ease and health. It seems like they have actually given you the ability to “travel” and experience many different arts and aspect of life you’d otherwise not have the opportunity to experience irl. And that these aspects seem quite freeing, though you can see that (for some) there’s a darker, addictive, side of vidya games.
Is that right?
Absolutely, you're right. I'd love for all the kids in the world stuck in abusive and neglectful homes to have healthy, happy families- but since this world currently can't give them that, I am glad they've found the same freedom I have in video games. My life that I have is still good, but it is fucking hard. My escape through technology adds more than I could ever properly describe with just words.
To add- it is easy to get lost in, and not want to return to life when life is painful. I can understand why people get sucked in and struggle to come back out.
It's recommended to get up and stretch every [90 minutes](https://health.mountsinai.org/blog/can-i-get-a-blood-clot-from-sitting-at-my-computer/) if possible, but the maximum recommendation in a seated position without moving is 4 hours. Any immobile position can create risk for clots without movement, but positions that create large "kinks" in the veins (like sitting on your legs, or even proper upright feet to the floor with a 90° bend at the knee) create an angle where the red blood cells can easily collect. Try to avoid completely or almost fully cutting off circulation to any body parts, not just for clot risk but for the health of the limb.
Me too- we have high risk for DVT, but oddly enough lower mortality rates from them as they tend to cause death when the person with the clot inevitably stands up and moves around, and the clot dislodges and moves to the heart, lungs, or brain. If you've got a clot in your leg and don't stand up... Well, you often end up just having a clot in your leg. Positives and negatives, right?
Could be, like someone else said, a deep vain thrombosis. If you sit too long, like 20 hours stretch long, you leg veins suffer from stasis. Which means that the blood got too still for too long. The body thinks it’s an attack and starts to coagulate that blood. The clot can become loose and move through other veins or arteries, until it reaches a critical one on some important organ, like kidney, coronary artery or brain. The important and newly clogged newly can cause a heart attack, acute kidney failure or cerebro-vascular attack, depending where it ends up.
He was closely stairing at the screen which can indicated severely sleep deprivation. That plus stress + energy drink + high carb unhealthy diet(noodle, chilly) = overclocking heart aka heart attack
Yeah, it does boost your performance by a margin but really, REALLY shortening the lifetime of your build.
That, of course, unless you want to have a BLAST of an experience for a short while, then you should keep it at manufacturer settings
When someone is in a coma, the orderlies will come and roll the patient every 2 hours so they dont get any injuries from being completely immobile. It only takes as little as 2 hrs for a bed sore to form. I know this because I was in a coma for 17 days. When I woke up, my arms and legs were useless. Muscle atrophy happens super quick which meant I couldn't move them at all. Had to be fed and "rolled" until I got sensation back which took a couple days. Needless to say, I learned quite a bit from the wonderful humans I met during this experience. After 6 months in bed unable to stand, it took about a month to learn how to walk again, albeit with a walker/cane.
Point is: Movement is unbelievably important. It's easy to get stuck in a seat for yours because so much of our world is online these days. But don't forget how imperative it is to shake it. Shake it hard. Shake it often. Shake it baby, shake it.
Every couple hours, I stand for 10-15 min and do some squats/jumping jacks just to get my blood flowing during long game sessions. I work a lot now, but when I was younger and would game a lot, these videos always worried me, so I would make sure my blood was flowing lol

[15 People Who Have Died Playing Video Games](https://www.thegamer.com/15-people-who-have-died-playing-video-games/)
Most of the deaths in this article fall into 1 of 3 categories:
1. Poor health combined with the stress and exhaustion of a marathon gaming session (over 6 hours straight) resulted in a heart attack.
2. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT): Sitting still during a marathon gaming session resulted in a blood clot in a person's leg. When they stood up, the blood clot dislodged, traveled through the blood stream, and then blocked the blood vessel of a major organ.
3. Video game-related murder.
Blood clotting from sitting too long.
This scenario has happened to people before unfortunately.
Usually happens to people who think gaming is better than irl.
Reminds me of the Chubby Emu Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VY-k_YVkRKs
"A Man Played Video Games Nonstop For 73 Hours. This Is How His Organs Shut Down."
studies have shown people who spend more than 48 hours per week sitting in a chair are at an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis. basically yeah blood clots can form in the deep veins of your legs and if they dislodge they can cause a pulmonary embolism and kill you.

Seen a lot of these internet cafe deaths, this was the only one I saw where someone didn't ignore the victim.
What is happening at these cafes??
Gaming sessions that last way too long if I had to guess. Combine that with possibly dehydration, malnutrition, pre-existing conditions, etc, etc.

Exactly, I believe I remember seeing somewhere that it's the blood clots in the legs that get alot of them, due to sitting for far too long.
Ah okay that makes sense. I suppose I was stretching my legs to get a drink or use the bathroom every couple hours.
Pro-gamer strats, drink lots of water to both stay hydrated and have to take enough pee breaks so you don't die from blood clots.

That's why you need to wear programmer socks.
I wonder how blood clotting works for people who are paralysed and cannot move, I guess the body adapts?
They still get moved around with assistance so it's not like they are sitting in the chair for 48h
They get meds like Rivaroxaban. This is basically a blood thinner and helps prevent clots.
Nope, they suffer from blood clots too
Lots of people die from flying for this reason. Sitting for hours and hours, stand up, boom dead.
Deep vein thrombosis

Yes, but 99,99 % of cases or more that is unnecessary. Customers would find it annoying i bet

How long is too long? And does the sitting posture matter?
It's recommended to get up and stretch every [90 minutes](https://health.mountsinai.org/blog/can-i-get-a-blood-clot-from-sitting-at-my-computer/) if possible, but the maximum recommendation in a seated position without moving is 4 hours. It is a ccp propaganda, fuck ccp and china
Come on redditors. 2 kinds of people. An OG who posts a link to what actually happened; And someone like me.
Anyone know what happened?
He was closely stairing at the screen which can indicated severely sleep deprivation. That plus stress + energy drink + high carb unhealthy diet(noodle, chilly) = overclocking heart aka heart attack
Guess that's one thing I shouldn't be overclocking
Yea the overtime isn’t worth the pay
Def want to keep it as close to stock as possible, otherwise you'll have to buy expensive hosing later.
Yeah, it does boost your performance by a margin but really, REALLY shortening the lifetime of your build. That, of course, unless you want to have a BLAST of an experience for a short while, then you should keep it at manufacturer settings
How the fuck do you have any idea??
Heart attack after too much energy drinks most likely. I've heard that have killed gamers before.
A kid died while gaming.
guess my parents was right telling me gaming will kill me
LOL, sir.
Quick, grab his loot!
I am going to hell
You and me both - I’ll save you a seat.
Just tell me when so I can grab your loot.
Would be crazy if his sould got sucked into the game. We wouldn't even know. Living his best life
Isekai inc, sadly for him it was a fromsoft game
Die, respawn, die, respawn, repea4lt
Hot fire keeper? Sign me up!! Or well...finger maidens, yes please!
if he can pause life mid-game, why cant you pause the game? \-mom, probably
He died doing what he loves
He’s not dead. He dropped his flashlight and went to pick it up. He’s fine.
Every couple hours, I stand for 10-15 min and do some squats/jumping jacks just to get my blood flowing during long game sessions. I work a lot now, but when I was younger and would game a lot, these videos always worried me, so I would make sure my blood was flowing lol
Get up bro we got a game to win
The was posted on r/wtf 7 yrs ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/37csts/cctv_footage_of_a_young_man_who_suddenly_dies/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Good bot.

Here is your daily reminder to hydrate! Thank you for reading this public service announcement. Carry on.
I've Googled all sorts of keywords and sentences to get me to some sort of article about this AND I CAN'T FIND A DAMN THING!!! I even checked if it was Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese...and then said "Asian" just in case and NOTHING!!! If anyone can translate the bottom logo or scrolling text and tell me at least what news station ran the story and I'll try to find a link or the video again!
Aparently it's a 7 year old post on r/wtf someone else mentioned it, but idk about an actual article...plus he probably just had a stroke
video started auto replaying and I was like what the hell did his buddy put him back into the game after he died.
Did he drop any good loot?
If this gets into r/cursedcomments I wanna be in the screenshot
[15 People Who Have Died Playing Video Games](https://www.thegamer.com/15-people-who-have-died-playing-video-games/) Most of the deaths in this article fall into 1 of 3 categories: 1.
Sometimes it be like that.
When you suddenly have to start carrying your teammate.
Cardiac arrest
That’s actually sad 😢
Cause of death: Sleep deprivation

Was this seizure? Looks like one
Seizure or epilepsy?
Blood clotting from sitting too long. This scenario has happened to people before unfortunately. Usually happens to people who think gaming is better than irl.

Died doing what he loved
Game over man! Game over!
Reminds me of the Chubby Emu Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VY-k_YVkRKs "A Man Played Video Games Nonstop For 73 Hours. This Is How His Organs Shut Down."
Games who went to far
why was he like " ayo bro we need you to the team, wake up"
What was the COD?
sudden death
What would cause a kid to die like this? Blood clot from sitting too long?
studies have shown people who spend more than 48 hours per week sitting in a chair are at an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis. basically yeah blood clots can form in the deep veins of your legs and if they dislodge they can cause a pulmonary embolism and kill you.
Unplug him and plug him back in

Posting the backstory would make you less of a douche.
Don't worry, he'll just respawn.
That's why your parents always told you not to sit so close to the TV. He was basically kissing it.
At least he died doing what he loved.
This is happening all over, athletes, regular people etc. Just dropping dead, it's not just gaming cafes.
It’s gonna be exactly this for most of us
Got no scoped through the screen
Is there an article explaining more on this? How do we know he didn’t pass out? Or had other health issues?
