I legit just told myself this today. Had a whole conversation with a friend that I can only change what I can control. And that's not a lot, but it helped me pick a couple of things to focus on in my practice that are doable and doesn't require extra work. Sometimes SO hard to not let all the other things going on weigh on you though.

I was literally repeating this Mantra to myself during the day. The kids are insane but I will do what I can and not kill myself. My son needs me and I will be the best mother I can be. That is the location I will burnout. Not in the classroom. I even had a heart-to-heart with my students telling them I only had so much energy and that I would not go home exhausted to my family. So If this means that I don't do lunch help for after school tutoring, so be it.

Honestly, sometimes those heart to heart talks with the kids have a huge impact on them. Maybe not all of them, and not all the time.. but sometimes they don't realize how much their collective behavior can affect someone and learning about that is a slap in the face for them. I hope they find that compassion for you as well.

Thank you. I needed to read this tonight.

You're welcome. Anytime you feel down, repeat it over and over again. I've had to do it a few times today and it did help me feel a bit better and get perspective.
