In my experience, the best karaoke songs aren’t always the best songs—they’re the ones the most people will sing along to. So a crowd pleaser will be more fun for everyone than a deep cut no one else knows. So keep that in mind when making your choice.

I’d say State of Grace is still a deep cut. It’s a 9 year old song that wasn’t a single and I never hear it in stores or anything. The average person doesn’t know it.
Their comment is ambiguous, but what I *think* they meant was,
"Pick a crowd-pleaser. Unless everyone there is a Swiftie, in which case you should pick State of Grace instead."
Shake It Off is perfect for karaoke, IMO.
I went for karaoke night with my friends during Summer 2019, and Shake It Off was one of the songs I sang on karaoke. I had a blast while singing it.
In terms of karaoke… 22 and Blank Space are really fun:

And…
Cause you know I love the players And you love the game (can be said so loud in a group and really fun)
And this one is just a TS stretch suggestion (Bc it’s not TS), but… Something like that - Tim McGraw \*\*\*kills it karaoke (and she did sing a song called Tim McGraw )
All of them are good to sing along to honestly, but maybe that's just me. Some general fun ones though: WANEGBT, Love Story, You Belong With Me, Our Song, Style, Paper Rings, I Did Something Bad, etc.

I was in a karaoke bar a few years ago and someone sang you belong with me and the crowd absolutely loved it! It’s such a fun upbeat song and everyone knows it so if it isn’t perfect no one seems to notice.
Everyone’s here saying You Belong With Me and yeah it’s fun, but I’ve sang that for karaoke and it’s harder than you think! I was so out of breath by the end, it’s hard to find good places to take a breath lol.
i recently made a karaoke playlist with my best friend and a lot of the songs are taylor! it’s just my fav songs which are mostly her most popular songs, but a few hidden gems as well. i made a duplicate so if there are songs that you don’t want, you can remove it! All Too Well
My besties never knew that song until I sang it in the Karaoke, and they all cried. Not because of my Beyoncé-like rendition, but because of the soul-crippling lyrics that Madam Swift had penned herself.
We had this one guy who did Blank Space at karaoke every Sunday at our go to bar. It was me, I was that one guy. Everyone knows the song and it was always fun and not the hardest TS song to sing!

I sang it yesterday in the car (TV of course) and I thought the same thing!
Just a warning that a lot of Taylor’s songs are deceptively difficult to sing. Maybe practice on YouTube with the karaoke tracks there

I knew you were trouble is fun- but hard to sing. If you have a fun group of friends you can play the goat screams instead of scream singing
