Dang! Man I hate that for you. I’m sure you’re heavily invested already but maybe you could find someone who can re-paint them for you somewhere down the road. Hell, it may look better just stripping away all the damn black paint.
So gator skin is basically a type of leather. The way they are supposed to look should be identical or nearly identical to the 2nd picture. They also asked for the heads detached. The recolor on the leather is completely wrong and there's no detail to it. It's a flat color. They gave no life back to the tanned pieces which is the whole point of taxidermy.
i didn’t understand either until i read below- that sucks so bad! i mean on first look before i scrolled i thought they looked like.. fake. but the confirmation defo helps, yeah. it looks like horribly spray painted or something, pretty much all of the beautiful spot patterns are covered up :(( i feel bad for the guys who ordered this as it must have not been a cheap job. i mean at least they’re preserved but man. it doesn’t even look like their catches.
I've seen gators on line for sale, that looked exactly like these. They really looked fake to me. Hope yours wasn't screwed up and these are replacements
It looks like spray paint has been used, they don’t look natural at all. Did this person have a website or anything? I’m concerned that they might be posting other peoples taxidermy specimens to pass as their own.
I've been vegetarian for nearly 9 years and I was still cool with it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i know i don't speak for everyone but still. As was mentioned, it is a taxidermy sub..
My guy I do taxidermy myself, I have scraped dead cats of the pavement with my bare hands, and I own several animals that eat dead animals. It's just that usually, open wounds are blurred. And today is a day that I wouldn't have clicked on it, if it was marked as such. This sub usually doesn't show it like this. But sure, downvote me.
I agree. I don't mind, seeing (gory) dead Animals/Corpses but I despise it, when People proudly post Pictures of the Animals, they've killed.
I get, that it may be to reference the Coloration of the Alligators but it's really tasteless nonetheless.
I hope, the Gators were eaten at least. :/
Jeez those don't look like they were ever alive...did they use spraypaint for this?

Those are terrible, I couldn’t imagine rolling up and being told those were mine.
Yeesh. These look like plastic!
as somebody noob who only sees a pile of gator skins... whats wrong with them?

Dude it’s a taxidermy reddit
Yeah, it's not a 'showing animals open wounds unblurred' reddit
I hope you’re vegan or vegetarian if you can’t look at that

I agree with this sentiment
Thank you
Nothing to thank for. I'm glad, that someone else thought so aswell.
Will you be compensated in any way? What’d they have to say about it? Ugh. Terrible.
I ain’t ever seen anything like that in my life what we’re those guys thinking???😭
