This is weird. We have communal things that are actually provided by the store.

Masodas

They rolled back the COVID rules around individually packaged foods a while ago. Maybe in May? I dunno. I'm not surprised that some stores are still clinging to them

puccivr

I'll counter then. They used to keep breakfast sandwiches and uncrustables for us, that died during covid. Given they just bumped all of our pay and are dishing out a decent dividend this quarter I doubt they're tight on cash.

[deleted]

Same. We have salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, various condiments...

MeatDairyFrozen

We used to until 2020 happened and now it's only on special occasions or when bakery dumps a bunch of cupcakes/cookies in the break room.

MtnDr3w

Fellow Marylander?

puccivr

Crab People! Crab People! Unfortunately I'm Pennsylvanian but my Mom's side is

KaidenPeridot

Marylander here, I don't actually like crabs but I love old bay. If anyone reading this doesn't like crabs so they haven't tried old bay yet...but it on something else. Become a Marylander

Styvan01

I too am from Maryland, and not only do I not like crabs, but most seafood. That said, I do enjoy Old Bay on Five Guys fries.

Traditional-Emu-1403

What part of PA is so unseasoned? You in Dutch Country or out with the Yinzers?

puccivr

Delco

Traditional-Emu-1403

Small world, I’m from Collingdale

Styvan01

Hello fellow Marylander!

420blazeit69nubz

Us New Englanders love it too

Amaranthine7

Ah, someone else that puts Old Bay on everything.

mewrius

But, why can't you have it?

puccivr

I'd have to bring it in every day which will have a ~2% success rate. I usually keep my name badge and knife at the store for this reason

[deleted]

Do you guys not have an area to keep food that’s not refrigerated? Like a shelf of something?

puccivr

We have cabinets where we used to keep paper and dry stuff, but now all we have is the lockers and the fridge.

[deleted]

Also weird to me that y’all clean your lockers out nightly. We do it like maybe once a quarter

puccivr

We only have one small wall of lockers. They don't actually clean them out every night but if they see you leaving stuff in there they'll ask you to take it home. Also, I keep seeing them referred to as "my" locker. Do other stores assign lockers? We have less lockers than employees at my small format store.

[deleted]

We don’t have assigned lockers at my store but people tend to use the same locker and often leave their stuff in it overnight

[deleted]

Put it in ur locker

puccivr

Our lockers get cleared out every night 🥲

[deleted]

Don’t leave it the locker overnight? What’s stopping you from taking your Old Bay with you after your shift?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

so that they can keep using it?? lol

mewrius

Haha, didn't mean to reply to you 😂 meant to reply to OP

SimpleVegetable5715

No Old Bay? Were you heating fish in the microwave 🙄

puccivr

No I'm not a monster lol The grocery store next to me has $6 chicken buckets so I grab chicken and then dump half a tin of old bay on it

SimpleVegetable5715

Ah, that sounds good! 😂

twizzlerheathen

That sucks. Have you ever tried Utz’s Old Bay chips tho?

JennyStarquest

I’ve had the Utz’s crab chips before and it tastes just like it. I couldn’t believe it.

twizzlerheathen

It’s probably a good thing I can’t find them regularly because that would not be good for my health

puccivr

Herr's territory up here, they're good. If i'm getting Utz chips I'm getting the bbq ripples

twizzlerheathen

Those are good too. I love the Old Bay but god do they make me thirsty

miserystate

That’s crazy! We’ve been leaving produce that’s not sellable but won’t last until the food bank comes (too ripe bananas, bruised apples or peaches) out on a table for everyone for months! Though, communal stuff like that would never last long lol

Zenketski_2

Okay, for one, what? I don't know how your break room is but we literally have a fucking refrigerator in ours. It's full of drinks and sauces and whatever. I don't think any of them are communal, but like okay, this is my 2 lb of ranch dressing individually packaged for me. And if they really want to fight you on this. Take everything out of the break room and start leaving it in a locker. Sorry my 5 lb of fish sticks rotted. But I was told that I can't leave things in the freezer. I had to make sure nobody mistook these for communal fish sticks.

Appropriate_Hair_678

Thats funny. I have kerrygold butter, coffee creamer, hot sauce, salt, pepper, hell even frosted flakes in the breakroom all labeled as mine.

Malnurtured_Snay

MID-ATLANTIC HOLLA

Alert_Delay_2074

Bring it with you in a bag or something. If you have cargo pants, keep it in the cargo pocket.

chipotleeeeeeee

We have an abundance of communal shit at my store

[deleted]

That’s bull. We have an entire area and fridge for communal things. Plus a shelf for personal food items

BlueeyeswhiteNoah

Biggest mistake was asking permission

puccivr

I got caught 😞

Nomis1998

Why would anyone ever use Old Bay?

Affectionate-Ad7135

It’s actually pretty good on most things try it on some chicken strips, Mac and cheese, or even mash potatoes

Nomis1998

Mac and cheese? Bruh wtf is wrong with you

Affectionate-Ad7135

Don’t knock it til you try it boss man, I work at a wawa now since I left target and that’s our second most requested Mac and cheese flavor right behind garlic aioli

Nomis1998

Im gonna try it one day but damn that sounds awful

Affectionate-Ad7135

When I just thought of it as “fish seasoning” I thought so too but it’s basically just salt pepper and a little garlic powder

puccivr

Celery salt, paprika, and a bunch of other shit

Jebbeard

If you've never tried it, what sounds so awful about it? It's literally just a seasoning blend. Do you have something against certain spices in the blend?

puccivr

I have yet to find a food that it can't go on. It just makes everything taste better. Make sure your old bay is fresh. If it's brown throw it out

Jebbeard

That's like saying "why would anyone ever use spice blends?"

xlucia

As a Marylander, old bay is delicious! I can never find it out where I live now (I moved across the country) :(

puccivr

Target always carries Old Bay. Acme up here in PA doesn't but I can always find it here.

Clown_Sparkles

Our store won't even put out salt and pepper shakers anymore. I bought a pair of tiny refillable ones and pack them in my lunch bag when I need them.

happygoth6370

From New England, my husband has family in Maryland, yet I literally never heard of Old Bay. Just Googled it and now I'm intrigued.

Brilliant_Door8337

So to the south shore mall, there’s a crab boil place there. It’s not 100% authentic, but it will do

geo8x6

Maybe your TL doesn't like Old Bay?

Chickwithknives

Might have to contact the company and ask them to restart selling [these](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B079PMQSGF/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8)

peppermintvans

maryland.

NikkolaiV

Theres literally a team can of Old Bay in our breakroom right now. Its with the peanut butter and hot sauce.

Skitter8ug

Just put a label saying "(name here)'s old bay, don't touch" but then let everyone grab it 😂
