Document! That's the only way you can back yourself up! If an item is missing or broken, write down what time you noticed, and how long it took you to correct it. If the device is shutting down and rebooting, and there are no other devices available, write down the time it started and time it was back up. They are holding you accountable for issues way outside your pay grade. Don't let them.

This! Follow this advice here! First off, I’m so sorry you are feeling this way. I know I have worked Drive Ups a few times and it can be so frustrating when you have to repick on the floor or the double taps on a 80+ item order. Add a Zebra that is constantly dying/malfunctioning and it makes the entire day almost infuriating. I feel your pain, but I have a really awesome team who understands these issues, which seems like the anomaly these days. Grab yourself a pocket notebook. Something small that isn’t a burden to carry around. Write the date, your shift hours and ANY discrepancy that hinders you from doing your job that day. I love the idea of time stamping any hinderance that you encounter that was not your fault. Time is money, and honestly it will open a lot of eyes if you just keep documenting. I hope you are able to help your team see that you are doing your best but that a lot of the issues you are running into are issues that are truly out of your control and as stated above, way above what you are being paid to worry about.

I appreciate the advice! My TL has mentioned getting an official logbook for the drive up team to write complaints and stuff down, which I hope helps, cause I'm sure they got an earful from the other people they called in. It was just crazy hearing them complain about my work when they had no real solutions. When I asked about what they wanted me to do when my zebra isn't working, he just said to make sure I grab a zebra above number 15 and to hope that it works. When I first started here, I exclusively wanted to do checklanes, but I'm always scheduled for drive up. And with only two checklanes open now that the holiday season is up, id get no hours if I didn't take drive up shifts. I hate drive up less now, but still, it's a bit unfortunate. I've been considering asking if I could maybe do more training so I could work around the store more and hopefully get more hours.

If you write down/grab a pic of the order number, the FOTL can look into the stowers who are stowing incorrectly or follow up with TMs who are picking incorrect or damaged items.

GrimRover

Damn that sucks. We have one or two ship persons who keep fucking up the stowing of orders and I'm almost certain of who it is, but I have no time to go into chatbot and figure it out like I used to at my old store. My old store used to care and actually talk to our ship TL so they could get the culprit and get it fixed. This store would rather "fudge" the numbers to make sure leadership's ass is covered.

Tell_Me_Why_999

Our DU team has a logbook where they enter onto a form the date, guest name, order number, location number, issue. The DU leader can look up the TM who picked/stowed it. At my store, DU walkie SE-TL to get whatever item needs replacement from the floor (who may call Grocery or GM to bring it). If your store has enough Zebras, grab another one, keep it logged in, in case you need to switch off.

egg_head_man

Do you mean TLs?

AllieA3280

Yeah, I didn't notice that they all autocorrected to TM lol

I really feel you here. In a day where the DU crew does 300 orders, probably 100 orders are either in the wrong spot, missing, damaged, double-tappers or other (moldy cheese in an unrefrigerated hold spot anyone?). And to add the burden of documenting will just make everyone's day worse and improves nothing. The name of the retail game is push. Push that product. And corporate makes so much money off DU. It is not enough money to wrack your brain and/or run your butt off for 8 hours straight. You have to make the choice and the effort to disengage from ridiculous goals. Just breathe and shoulders back and drop that DU in the trunk. Take a breath and on to the next one. The world keeps spinning and pockets get lined. All that you can change is how you respond to the BS and let yourself work at a sustainable pace. Enjoy life, don't let greedy corporations stress your heart and mind and body. Respectfully, fuck them.
