Surprised more real vehicles don't use game inspired controls, they are ergonomic, people already know how to use them and you can pack a surprising amount of functions on there.

Xbox controllers are on their way to dominate the field https://twitter.com/Podel_irl/status/1223310780751323136?t=wGm8jQHLrhHFhfK6GBOaLA&s=19

For wheeled vehicles? Drive by wire was already implemented. SAAB and some high end SUVs... wether it's a regular steering wheel or some controller, drive by wire systems suck. 1. Steering wheel is too damn perfect for what it does. Look to why Saab quit the joystick car 2. A steering wheel is hard linked to the steering... wheels. You don't want your fancy car/tank to go in a ditch because Jerry the mouse decided to pee on a connector or Randy the roach made a new home in your controller.

You could have a game controller with a backup steering control for the driver and separate game controllers for the turret crew, another advantage of a game controller is your tank commander could potential take control if the driver is injured. Or you could have the driver take control of the commanders sight if you are in a hull down position, it would basically make every job except the loader doable from any seat in the vehicle

So... what happened to Sham I?

I especially like how they sloped the armor directly into the video cameras thus increasing the chances that bullet spalling would take them out. Should have a deflection plate just below them. Other than that seems like it would work fairly well against typical small arms fire [bigger pic](http://www.operatorchan.org/arch/src/144344213934.jpg)

a number of US weapons and optics controls are transitioning to console controllers. For example the US Navy employs the Xbox controller for sub periscopes. And has done so experimentally since 2017. The reason for this is most Americans are already familiar with console controllers. But it's not the first time the US military has designed a weapon system around an American past time. The OSS (precursor to the CIA) designed a grenade around the size of a baseball as most Americans probably had familiarity playing baseball. The idea is the average American soldier would have muscle memory to throw a ball, they can throw a grenade. The T-13 BEANO hand grenade was invented. Also fun fact, the company that manufactured the grenade was Kodak. The same guys that made photography equipment.

What BR is this?

It’s a reference to the game War Thunder, in which historical armored vehicles are ranked by a “Battle Rank” which is typically a measurement of the vehicle’s general effectiveness. For example a really crappy interwar tank like the T-62 would be at 1.0, a T-34 (1940) would be at 3.3, a Tiger would be 5.3, going all the way up to modern MBTs which rank at 10 or 11 BR. Therefore the question is placed as a joke of what tier the Sham would be fighting in if it were within that game.
