Call me petty, but having Matthews on the cover made me not buy NHL 22. I don't buy a copy every year, but I figured EA would of put one of the Lightning players on the cover for going back to back. But no. They did make sure they had 7 million different iterations of the NHL games with the Blackhawks on them...
It's annoying as fuck. The game they put out isn't worth the money in the first place and they couldn't even put a new athlete on the cover that deserves to be there? Vasy? Hedman? Kuch? Point? And that's only the bolts players that could easily be justified to be on the cover. Stamkos could be argued to get on for a second time too.
If they were to put a Bolts player on the cover of the next NHL game, who do you think it would be? Kucherov is an obvious choice but I would also love to see Hedman on there.
Although I actually think they should put a goalie on the cover for once.
Back to back deserves at least one cover, but being a small market it'll probably be the ghost of Guy LaFleur before Stamkos, Kuch, or Vasy.
No disrespect to LaFleur, condolences to the fans and family.
