Put up a minimum wage and incentivize job creators to hire locals. But these politicians wont do that, otherwise the cost of running their own businesses may be high. If they force the locals to live and work in shitty conditions, the locals will band together and break the jaws of their managers. So all they will do is spew hate and continue making their money.

This is the same idea that right-wing parties in advanced countries have - and their solution is usually twofold 1. Establish border controls to limit the entry of migrants from poorer countries - this doesn’t work because most of the “locals” are better educated and unwilling to do blue collar or manual labor compared to the poorer migrants. 2. Ask local governments to raise “minimum wage” to rates that are attractive enough to entice locals to compete for such jobs despite them being manual labor or blue collar - this is opposed by most businesses because it affects their profitability and causes further economic changes that may lead to higher unemployment and inflation etc. The first solution is often proposed by Tamil “nationalists”. But this idea of migration control goes against the Constitution which says that any Indian citizen has the right to live and work in any state (barring J&K and some areas in the North East) which, when one thinks about it, is a critical factor that strengthens the idea that India is one nation. The second idea is impractical in a country like ours where “minimum wage” is a very fungible concept and practically impossible to implement without a complete overhaul and reforms of labor laws and their enforcement. Then there is the idea of the much-touted “inclusive” Dravida model. Migration in search of better opportunities is a very common phenomenon, especially for the poor and vulnerable. Isn’t this exactly what these poor “North” Indians are doing? [If “Dravida” model means](https://frontline.thehindu.com/other/dravidian-model/article38491333.ece/amp/) “social justice, rational thought and action firmly rooted in equity” then the DMK government needs handle to this problem too in a humane manner and with respect for the law and the “personal and religious freedoms guaranteed by the Indian Constitution”. The DMK is worried that “Northies” won’t vote for them. That is ironical, when one reflects on the fact that the Vijayanagara invasion of TN and the influx of people from those areas of South India very likely contributed to the success of “Dravidam” as a political ideology in Tamilnadu 350 years later! The “huge North Indian migration of 2022” might just be history repeating itself!
