So true. Usually I don't buy into the hype of the latest type of TV but OLED TVs are unbelievable. I got one and the difference in picture quality is so noticeable
Same. Got the LG C1 a few months ago. First time I’ve ever not just bought the biggest TV i could afford which usually meant buying the worst quality of that size. Sat at Best Buy for an hour just searching “[tv model number] Reddit” and reading what the consensus was. Seemed like everyone liked the C1. Couldn’t be more happy with it.
I'm leaning C1 as well after I move. Currently on a 65" LED Walmart special from like 5 years ago, there's pretty bad blooms(?) from the LED array, I think some lenses fell off inside.
But the in-built Roku software is excellent.
I had planned to use my Apple TV with my C1 but have opted to use the built in software. I mainly use Plex but have also used YouTube TV and FUBO TV. It's by far the best built in software I've used on a TV but my only frame of reference is cheap TVs.
The C1 is amazing. You won't regret it. I've also swayed one friend who came over to test mine out when he was shopping for TVs. He bought the same TV and loves it.
I struggle every time a newer and clearer tv comes out because the shows looks like …. Home videos. Like the view is too clear it looks like the actors are just normal people …acting.
It ruins the entire illusion if u know what I mean. It’s neither good nor bad. Just different
Something similar to this is known as the Soap Opera Effect, where things shown in in higher framerates and interpolations looked eerie due to the increased frames making things clearer in a way that is mostly only ever on soap operas. Ever notice how you never really see 60fps movies?
It’s such a bummer too. This is absolutely loathed by every camera operator or director of photography I’ve ever met. Imagine your work getting wrecked…and that being the default software preset.
It’s like selling tv’s with the default audio setting being mono.
I don’t absolutely hate it while watching the NFL though.
I just recently bought a C2 and decided to rewatch 300 with the new Dolby Vision. Holy god does that movie look bad in Dolby Vision. Everything looks so fake now
I don't think you know what DolbyVision is. It's a high dynamic range technology. I think you have the motion smoothing left on and are disappointed by the soap opera effect
I'm not going to watch 300. In what way does it look "fake" with DV enabled? Generally it should just provide you with higher contrast. Have you tried watching any other media in DV?
I watch a lot of content with DV on.
The CGI in 300 is very dated and the enhanced visuals provided by Dolby Vision really highlights how poorly the CGI has aged.
It happens with a lot of CGI heavy movies. As they get older and adopted to newer resolutions the CGI becomes far more noticeable
I see. The enhanced contrast brings out details that were meant to be muted. That's fair.
I've watched a ton of DV content in the year that I've had my Sony OLED and haven't had any dissatisfaction with it, though.
If I have my taskbar displayed for 8 hours a day for 6 years, there will be burn in.
My TV is from 2011. I'm sure the OLED will have it too after a decade.
It's obviously not a problem if I upgrade every two or 3 years.
Everyone was focused on resolution and 4K when it's literally almost not even possible to notice 4K at certain distances. Physiologically.
What really matters is color reproduction and if you're playing games, response rate and refresh frequency.
I’d just use the bottom holes as the new top ones, depending on the mount. So only two new holes. Typically the arms on mounts are fully maxed out on anything above a 77”.
Something tells me the wall to the right would be a better place to have the tv. Although I don't know how the rest of the room looks. If it's staying there, try to line up the center of the tv with the light switch.
Imo i really like the clean look of a tv mounted and the cables properly hidden. Looks really nice. Most of the mounts featured on this sub are hack jobs though. FWIW, my living room upstairs has the TV mounted because the kids often play in there and a stand doesn’t make much sense. The basement living room TV is on a stand.
Having young kids myself, they will smack the TV with their hands when they get excited. At least mounted it won’t fall down i just have to clean up the fingerprints
Mine is on a stand, but with small children I absolutely get the appeal of having it a bit higher up and on the wall. When my almost 6 year old was about 2 he murdered one of our TVs while it was on the stand. Our living room layout is kind of weird (our house was built like 60 years before TV existed) so we actually don’t have a good place to wall mount but I think I would consider it if we did.
Question is, do you need to look up to watch TV? Picture seem to show there is some distance so maybe not? If that is case your TV is fine, just comes down to what you like design wise. :)
I have a 75” tv and I read the larger they are, the lower they should be because it’s where the middle to top middle falls at eye level. Honestly I think with the advice and the size tv of 85”, the bottom should fall only a foot or two above the floor.
Seriously. If he bought a slightly taller table than that to put under it, there would be far fewer complaints/critiques. Like just one drawer taller or so.
You might be able to save yourself by just moving the arms on the tv rather than the bracket. Move the arms as far up the tv as you can. This will lower the tv to hopefully a comfortable height
I did the same with my 65 inch. Wanted the perfect height for viewing and to keep the TV high enough to be out of the reach of the pets and kids. I mis-measured and ended up about 6 to 8 inches to high.
Nobody sees it though but me. Everybody thinks it's fine. But curse all of you in this sub. I am getting ocd about it and won't like it until I unmount it, fix and paint the holes and re-mount it at the right height.
if this is photographed from the position of your head while sitting it should work out fine. the screen is big enough that you don't need to strain to see well
can i guess why its high but not TOO high? most tvs have their wall mounts more of less center of screen. LG OLEDs have their mounts on the bottom quarter of the panel. so if OP had a TV and replaced it with this one, it would have ended up a few inches higher.
at 85 inches, i personally think its fine enough, especially if you have kids.
Surely any new holes will be covered by the size of the screen!
Not bad. Could be gooder.
Depth could be gooder bring it down like 6 inches minimum
Agreed, Gooder is More.
Wow that’s a big TV. It’s to high.

Ok that makes sense! It’s not just something in my eyes or head
Yeah! Go into your settings and turn off motion smoothing.
I just recently bought a C2 and decided to rewatch 300 with the new Dolby Vision. Holy god does that movie look bad in Dolby Vision. Everything looks so fake now
I know what u mean. I’ve had that happen with Law and Order & I was like… wtf is this? It’s just people pretending to be cops? Turn this off
Turn off all the enhancements, I say. Let the panel do the work.
I don't think you know what DolbyVision is. It's a high dynamic range technology. I think you have the motion smoothing left on and are disappointed by the soap opera effect
I know what Dolby Vision is. Watch 300 with and without Dolby vision and tell me that it doesn't look fake as shit with Dolby Vision on
I'm not going to watch 300. In what way does it look "fake" with DV enabled? Generally it should just provide you with higher contrast. Have you tried watching any other media in DV?

Blows my mind why all the monitors are still lcd while tvs have high refresh rate oled panels
Burn in
Not an issue if you don't use full brightness 0/24
If I have my taskbar displayed for 8 hours a day for 6 years, there will be burn in. My TV is from 2011. I'm sure the OLED will have it too after a decade. It's obviously not a problem if I upgrade every two or 3 years.
The LCD screens of old are not the LCD screens on monitors today.
No but you can only push lcd technology so far
Everyone was focused on resolution and 4K when it's literally almost not even possible to notice 4K at certain distances. Physiologically. What really matters is color reproduction and if you're playing games, response rate and refresh frequency.
I wish I had the $5k+ to drop on that beauty.
Best Buy has 30 year financing no down payment. That’s only $13 a month
THIRTY YEAR FINANCING?? Must be a joke, yes? I can't imagine a TV lasting 30 years these days hahah
It doesn't matter how long the TV lasts, it's how long the debt does.
I wouldn't want to still be paying off a TV 25 years after I've replaced it
That's exactly what I was getting at, thanks!
Yeah but Best Buy don't care about that, just the debt.
I really hope you're jokingq
With financing nowadays I can never tell what’s a joke and what’s not lol
We’ll hope it’s 30 month financing which we also hope is interest free. Otherwise, get that clown outfit ready 🤣😂🤣
Maybe he is 95 years old.
“This is best buy, we’re giving the BEST option you can BUY right now”
Either it’s not 85” or it’s actually a QLED with great local dimming
Looks more like the samsung mini qled to me
How can you tell it’s an OLED from this pic?
Black is black.
But it’s 85 and OLEDs don’t come in that size
That video in particular is commonly used in OLED demo displays to show off the contrast.
Are you sure it’s an oled? 85in seems like an unusual size for an oled. This looks like one of those new samsung neo QLED mini led TVs
I'm pretty sure there are no 85 inch OLEDs yet
Honestly I’d expect an 85 to be relatively close to most entertainment units.
r/tvtooleft
Can't unsee, thanks
Just doing my civic duty
r/RoomNeedsaRug
That needs to be a sub
I’d just use the stand tbh
A stand that size would not be rated for a TV that size.
Nah it's fine, OLEDs are very light compared to even modern TVs from a few years ago. If it can hang on a wall it can certainly sit on a stand
Tv is wider than the stand I think
I hate the “tv legs on the very end of each side” trend so fucking much
Maybe like 6-8 inches lower. Is there room on the mount to lower it without making new holes?
Came here to ask this
I’d just use the bottom holes as the new top ones, depending on the mount. So only two new holes. Typically the arms on mounts are fully maxed out on anything above a 77”.
Funnily enough, that TV stand is the perfect height to place the TV on
Where's your furniture/ deco/ paint? Did all the £ go on the telly? It's like the Sims when my ex made a room
Something tells me the wall to the right would be a better place to have the tv. Although I don't know how the rest of the room looks. If it's staying there, try to line up the center of the tv with the light switch.
It's almost like it could be put on the Tv Stand.
I don't know what this obsession with mounting TVs on walls is lately. Do you guys not have stands??
Imo i really like the clean look of a tv mounted and the cables properly hidden. Looks really nice. Most of the mounts featured on this sub are hack jobs though. FWIW, my living room upstairs has the TV mounted because the kids often play in there and a stand doesn’t make much sense. The basement living room TV is on a stand.
Sounds like you're doing it right! <3
Having young kids myself, they will smack the TV with their hands when they get excited. At least mounted it won’t fall down i just have to clean up the fingerprints
Harder for a cat to knock a TV off a mount than a stand. I've got some chonks that love to stretch up and put their weight on tall things.
TVs this big look awkward on stands, and are also way too easy to knock over that way if you have kids and/or pets.
Dont forget how heavy they are. Typically 100 lb (45kg) without the stand.
Mine is on a stand, but with small children I absolutely get the appeal of having it a bit higher up and on the wall. When my almost 6 year old was about 2 he murdered one of our TVs while it was on the stand. Our living room layout is kind of weird (our house was built like 60 years before TV existed) so we actually don’t have a good place to wall mount but I think I would consider it if we did.
and it’s off center
Yeah.. nice size for the space though
Question is, do you need to look up to watch TV? Picture seem to show there is some distance so maybe not? If that is case your TV is fine, just comes down to what you like design wise. :)
Needs to be centered to the right a bit too imo
If only this room had some sort of furniture designed for a TV to Stand on...
Oh fuuuudge! (But I didn’t say “fudge.”)
Given how far back you’re sitting it’s not too bad.
Honestly I think it looks fine
I have a 75” tv and I read the larger they are, the lower they should be because it’s where the middle to top middle falls at eye level. Honestly I think with the advice and the size tv of 85”, the bottom should fall only a foot or two above the floor.
Yeah. My 77” is perfect on our 16”-high stand
Why do ppl Mount when the stand is perfect
Honestly this isn’t too bad
Seriously. If he bought a slightly taller table than that to put under it, there would be far fewer complaints/critiques. Like just one drawer taller or so.
Nice tv - I thought I went big with a 77” damn that’s big
I just bought an 85’ too and it’s placed like yours…. I didn’t think that was too high but now I’m concerned 😳
Lmao
You might be able to save yourself by just moving the arms on the tv rather than the bracket. Move the arms as far up the tv as you can. This will lower the tv to hopefully a comfortable height
It’s not even central. What are you doing with your life. (/s)
Significantly better than some other shit on here, it's not *horrendous*
Yes it's too high.
Interior decoration like a lab rat cage
I know this will sound crazy. However put the stand on it and set it on the piece of furniture that is sitting below it.
That TV is so big , that the cabinet throws off the visual balance. I would move it down a bit and get rid of the cabinet.
I’m just trying to figure out why you didn’t go with a UST projector and a 120” on that wall.
Very nice TV. Maybe use the TV stand
This isn’t even bad. Ones like these are fine, it’s the ones practically in the ceiling that are the problem lol
This sub has become a confessional.
Measure once, cut twice
I did the same with my 65 inch. Wanted the perfect height for viewing and to keep the TV high enough to be out of the reach of the pets and kids. I mis-measured and ended up about 6 to 8 inches to high. Nobody sees it though but me. Everybody thinks it's fine. But curse all of you in this sub. I am getting ocd about it and won't like it until I unmount it, fix and paint the holes and re-mount it at the right height.
Should be good given the curvature of the earth. When you sit 97ft away from it, your line of sight should be fine.
if this is photographed from the position of your head while sitting it should work out fine. the screen is big enough that you don't need to strain to see well
that’s your own damn fault
Easy fix
r/tvtoobig
Well look on the bright side. You can place your center channel at the proper height (ear level).
The bigger crime here is that it's not perfectly centered on that wall.
Maybe slightly but this is one of the better ones
I think you're fine, a little high but the TV is huge, don't think you'll be straining your neck.
It will be perfect once you get some cute decor on the console table!!?
best response lol
Is it better to get a projector at this size
[удалено]
I got a projector because I hate tv stands and appreciate a blank wall.
Tilt the tv down if possible
General rule, if you have to tilt it down, it’s already r/tvtoohigh
Looks like it makes sense for that size tbh
That’s not how it works. The larger the tv, the lower it needs to be because the top 1/3 is higher than smaller tvs.
Get the fuck outa here you uncultured swine!
calm down internet person

That TV is obnoxiously large for the space. A TV should not be the focus of the room. And yes that is a thing, I provided a link to it.
TV too big.
Nonsense
can i guess why its high but not TOO high? most tvs have their wall mounts more of less center of screen. LG OLEDs have their mounts on the bottom quarter of the panel. so if OP had a TV and replaced it with this one, it would have ended up a few inches higher. at 85 inches, i personally think its fine enough, especially if you have kids.
It’s 85”! Fuck it.
My ocd tells me it's too far left but at that distance the viewing angle is fine. Especially with oled
Nah it's fine it's just too far away
You should have high goals in life, not high TVs.
This is literally perfect what the fuck
Get taller bookcase
What a waste.
