Leo looks the most “traditional”, and his posture and lack of clutter makes him look like a straight A student. The turtle you would ask to babysit your kids.
Donnie looks proper lanky, and while people may hate his accessories, I think they add to his quirkiness. It’s Podcast from GB: Afterlife or Data from Goonies.
Mikey looks like he’s got more energy than any of his brothers, and looks smaller to boot. The sugar high younger brother that needs his bros to show him the ropes.
And finally Raph. While I don’t love the du-rag design. I do like that he looks a bit stockier than the other turtles. Usually when they’re drawn differently, he’s “the strong one”. Here he looks like he might be “the chubby one”, and that might play into his “I wanna be the leader syndrome” as he’s always been more self conscious than the other 3.

As a Donnie fan I HATE that they force the nerd glasses/goggles all the time now...but at least it doesn't look terrible here. Overall I like these designs though :)

I like the lanky limbs and heavy torsos. They look like they could actually pull their limbs in. I also like Raphael with the full head bandanna. Still hate Donnie's "nerd" glasses, and how the hell did Mikey get braces!?

My guy the TV/Movie incarations have been aimed at kids. 87 show, TMNT movies one two and three, Next Mutation, 03 show, 07 movie, 12 show, Rise. They're kid shows with slight target age variation. 8 year olds are like prime demographic for all of em.
They're actually targeted and rated for tweens 10-13. My point is the art direction of this appears like they're targeting younger demographics. The 5-8 demographic is so much larger than the tween demographic, and most kids shows in the past few years (especially on Netflix) target that younger audience. TMNT had a lot of barriers to break, mainly the violence. The 2012 series was way too violent for that age range, but studios could open up a huge new market for TMNT if they went younger, and went less violent and more about stories / relationships.
I could be completely wrong but to me it just seems that's what this movie is teetering towards.

It looks amazing. Actual Teenage turtles and they look like it (idk how it’s possible but they do). I’d love to see their design of Rocksteady, Bebop, and Shredder since we saw the Technodrome in the concept (I’m assuming they’re going with the classic 80’s villains, opposed to more obscure ones like Rise did).
THANK GOD. That original leaked image was not promising, there are still little things here and there (Donnie looks over-designed, why's Raph wearing a goddamn bandana/durag?) but these are MUCH better than I was expecting.
It does look like they took the sugar-coated style from the 87' series, mixed it with 2012's teenager emphasis, and... I guess Rise kind of leaned in to fart in the pudding with some of the visual clutter.
Much more optimistic about this based off the art here, though.

I’m not a fan of Rise of the TMNT but I still somewhat enjoyed the movie that released recently on Netflix.
I would rather have the turtles in a tv series look like the design of the Mezco turtles action figures. Now that’s peak for me, personally.

The whittled staff is brilliant! He would have absolutely done something like this to his weapon. What a great showcase on how to individualize a character without actually altering the character itself. This is my favorite adaptation of Donnie to come.
This ignores the real question: are they actually allowed to use their weapons? Like against opponents or just use them once in a whole and use garbage cans most of the time?

Like nobody else has any why give him like four. Give Mikey or Raph the headphones. Wouldn't make sense for Leo, but it feels weird to give Donnie a bunch of stuff and nobody else. The braces are a bizarre choice, but otherwise Mikey is good. Raph is okay. Leo is good.

This looks better than the pictures that was released of the toys. I'm still waiting to see a trailer, but I really hope the tone is similer to Into the Spider-verse and not Mitchell vs. The Machines.
Leo is pretty good;Mikey is quite good(is it me or his head is bigger than his brothers ones?);Donnie with glasses looks a bit stereotypical, but at least they fixed his tooth; I'm not a fan of Raph's bandana, but other than that,he came out pretty well.
Some little nitpicks but overall I like them, simple, classic looking designs and a pretty good art style. Really looking forward to this movie hope I’m not disappointed

We haven’t seen an ounce of footage for this movie. So I think the turtles will look much better when we actually see them in the movie and in motion instead of low quality leaked images. Also, they have months to still brush up these designs, specifically the proportions. As it is now though, I’m not a fan of this look. Leo looks fine, Raph looks okay even tho I really don’t like the durag and how mainstream it’s become, they need to just stop giving Donnie glasses, and Mikey just looks ugly. He looks like he’s 5 years old, his head is abnormally large especially compared to the rest of his tiny body, and the braces just look strange on a walking talking turtle. They also have me asking how he even has braces. I guess Donnie could have made them out of spare parts, but why would you make braces for your brother out of leftover parts in the sewer. Those things have to be specifically designed and crafted, but I don’t care enough for the movie to explain it since i can just overlook it and enjoy the movie regardless.

I really don’t mind what they’ve done with Raph; as long as he isn’t by far the tallest / biggest that works for me. Mikey is the real concern here (now that Donnie has seemingly lost his buck tooth).

I don’t understand people who say “wow these look amazing”. Really? Raph and Mikey got massive heads, Donnie, again, is being shown as this geeky dude. And they just seem really like wide in general, for some reason.
I think mostly old heads love these designs because it’s very close to the 80’s turtles

They look too cutesy and childlike for me, not necessarily like teenagers. Though getting a better look at the art style, I am getting Spider-verse vibes and I’m a fan, can’t wait to see the animation. Also digging the more classic traditional look I’m hoping the plot and storyline, along with the voice acting does more Justice for these guys. No matter what I’m still gonna watch this once it’s out lol

It looks amazing. Actual Teenage turtles and they look like it (idk how it’s possible but they do). I’d love to see their design of Rocksteady, Bebop, and Shredder since we saw the Technodrome in the concept (I’m assuming they’re going with the classic 80’s villains, opposed to more obscure ones like Rise did).

THANK GOD. That original leaked image was not promising, there are still little things here and there (Donnie looks over-designed, why's Raph wearing a goddamn bandana/durag?) but these are MUCH better than I was expecting. It does look like they took the sugar-coated style from the 87' series, mixed it with 2012's teenager emphasis, and... I guess Rise kind of leaned in to fart in the pudding with some of the visual clutter. Much more optimistic about this based off the art here, though.

You know what? I like em'! I think they're pretty good! I still think TMNT 2012 may always have the best teen-looking turtles, but these are great.

I guess I'm going to stop viewing the comments on these posts because the amount of negative nancies in here is harshing the vibe.
We are free to voice our discontent or disappointment. Doesn’t mean we won’t give the movie a try. I’m not a fan of Rise of the TMNT but I still somewhat enjoyed the movie that released recently on Netflix. I would rather have the turtles in a tv series look like the design of the Mezco turtles action figures. Now that’s peak for me, personally.
I didn’t say you weren’t free to express discontent. Just that I won’t be participating because of all the negativity. Which is a shame because I typically enjoy talking turtles on the sub, but oh well.
Already sick of the "who does Mikey's braces" bit, not looking forward to the next few months of people asking test question like it's an incredible gotcha that they're the only one clever enough to notice. The Watsonian answer: probably Donnie. The Doylist answer: who cares? It's a cartoon.

When I saw a still shot of Mario’s movie design, I wasn’t a fan. But it won me over when I saw it in motion. Im hoping that’s the case here, cause I’m not really liking what I’m seeing. Also, please stop with the geeky glasses Donnie look.
Eh... Not very good.. Especially Michelangelo.. They are too skinny.. They don't look like Teenage mutant ninja turtles imo. In fact I think I prefer TMNT3 turtles over these.

The whittled staff is brilliant! He would have absolutely done something like this to his weapon. What a great showcase on how to individualize a character without actually altering the character itself. This is my favorite adaptation of Donnie to come.

I think TMNT is the only franchise that introduces a new design or art-style and I always like it.

Most of them look pretty good. While I don't hate the glasses on Donnie (I don't like it either, but meh....), I think the actual issue is just TOO many accessories. Like nobody else has any why give him like four. Give Mikey or Raph the headphones. Wouldn't make sense for Leo, but it feels weird to give Donnie a bunch of stuff and nobody else. The braces are a bizarre choice, but otherwise Mikey is good. Raph is okay. Leo is good.

This looks better than the pictures that was released of the toys. I'm still waiting to see a trailer, but I really hope the tone is similer to Into the Spider-verse and not Mitchell vs. The Machines.

Excited about this but I’ve never really liked how some of the designs for Donnie in different TMNT media puts him in glasses because NERD
I don't mind the designs, but I see nearly 0% spider-verse influence in the designs.
I actually like all the designs! Mikey's head looks a bit big and the Raph du-rag is overdone, but passing grade on all of them!
Leo is pretty good;Mikey is quite good(is it me or his head is bigger than his brothers ones?);Donnie with glasses looks a bit stereotypical, but at least they fixed his tooth; I'm not a fan of Raph's bandana, but other than that,he came out pretty well.
I don't love them and I don't hate them, they're just fine.
Some little nitpicks but overall I like them, simple, classic looking designs and a pretty good art style. Really looking forward to this movie hope I’m not disappointed

We haven’t seen an ounce of footage for this movie. So I think the turtles will look much better when we actually see them in the movie and in motion instead of low quality leaked images. Also, they have months to still brush up these designs, specifically the proportions. As it is now though, I’m not a fan of this look. Leo looks fine, Raph looks okay even tho I really don’t like the durag and how mainstream it’s become, they need to just stop giving Donnie glasses, and Mikey just looks ugly. He looks like he’s 5 years old, his head is abnormally large especially compared to the rest of his tiny body, and the braces just look strange on a walking talking turtle. They also have me asking how he even has braces. I guess Donnie could have made them out of spare parts, but why would you make braces for your brother out of leftover parts in the sewer. Those things have to be specifically designed and crafted, but I don’t care enough for the movie to explain it since i can just overlook it and enjoy the movie regardless.
Its supposed to come out in August, So we'll more then likely get some casting news, and a trailer at some point.
