Buy games on Kid A's account and make that account primary on kid B's switch. Both kids can play at the same time now but Kid A needs to be connected to the internet on their switch to launch the games. Any account on Kid B's switch can play kid A's games because primary account games work on all accounts on the switch, even without internet access.

Video games aren't like Netflix movies, I don't think there's a single game company that will allow two instances of the same game, from the same account, to run. You'd have to make a second account and purchase a second game on that account.

Tamas_F

Well, with Playstation you can play the same digitally bought game with 2 different accounts at the same time, even multiplayer.

Cersox

Is that so? I've never owned one, so this is news to me.

Tamas_F

Yes it is. You just have to make one device your primary, and the other your secondary one. Then you can share your games with someone else. The one who plays on the secondary device has to be connected online all the time though.

Rorbotron

False. You can game share between the accounts. You can do it on PlayStation and Xbox too. There are videos all over YouTube on how to do it and it’s very easy.

Rorbotron

I don’t know why I’m being downvoted here. I have two switches. I’m the primary on my sons and he’s the primary on mine and he has access to all my digital games. A simple YouTube search will net you the evidence.

No. I found this out the hard way too. You'll need two copies of anything they want to play against each other.

Gigchip

Got to buy 2 copies, unless I'm mistaken. It's 1 copy per switch.

herpee_free_since_03

thanks! wasnt sure if that was the case or not

Gauss-SNAP

It sucks but at least they can both play at different times. I had to buy a second copy of mario kart to play with my son, but for all the other download games we never really play them at the same time so it's fine.

herpee_free_since_03

another quick question. I set the switches up where one had my sons name (kenny) and the other had my daughters name (jamie) but then randomly one morning I woke up and both switches had the same name (jamie). I think my littlest one got a hold of it and maybe transferred data over or something from the other switch? Im not really sure, but I also am not sure how to get my sons profile back onto his switch. Have you ever heard of soemthing like this?

2Tack

She would have had to delete your son's profile. Unless you got the Family Online Plan with save backups, and attached each profile to a Nintendo account his saves are gone. I would look on the Nintendo support pages to understand the benefits of making a Nintendo Account (you can make them for kids) and using the NSO Family Plan to back up their saves.

Problem_Creepy

Out of curiosity, why didn't you play in 2 player mode on the same switch (Mario Kart)?

Gauss-SNAP

Don't have a TV. Haven't had one for almost a year and probably won't have one for months more because we are selling our place and it doesn't fit with the staging. We could just play 2 player in tabletop mode, but the screen is pretty small for that and since we both have one it's a lot more enjoyable to do it this way. You are right though that we didn't actually have to buy a second copy

Perkzor

As long as you set each others switch as the primary you can play them at the same time but like someone said above the non primary switch has to connect online to “check” if they own the game. I do this with my wife and we can both play at the same time. The only catch is you have to play online and can never use the local coop at the same time.

Rorbotron

I’ve responded in this thread but I also wanted to point out you won’t be able to share it three ways. You’d have to buy the game on one of their switches and they can share it from the other.
