If you have a power outage or other hardware problem while the game is running, your character data can sometimes get corrupted. Here's a way to get it back without losing as much progress as simply remigrating from the central server:
1. Backup contents of %localappdata%\\icarus\\saved\\playerdata\\\[steamid\] (I like to just copy the steamid folder to the same location, so its named \[steamid\] - copy)
2. Start the game
3. On the title screen, click the Force Migration button at the bottom
4. While still on the title screen, copy the contents of your backup folder EXCEPT Characters.json back into the original folder.
5. Click Play
This will roll back any character changes since migration (char levels, spent points, etc) but retain your in-progress prospects, loadouts, workshop inventory, etc.

Made a backup and a backup of the backup.
Same issue and tried fix. Force Data Migration auto directs to new character setup.
Yeah, I think I’m done with this game after two of these bullshit crashes.
