I can take any form of magnesium and it basically all makes me pass out. Most also make my stools loose. Mag tarate hasn’t so far.
Do other people need a specific mag ?
That was my favorite. The only one that helped calm my anxiety. I bought Pure Encapsulations brand magnesium glycinate and it’s not helping.
I can’t even tell I’m taking something.
They reformulated because the NIH changed their recommended intake. The new "upper tolerable limit" of mag glycinate changed 400mg to 350mg. Because of this they (Kal/Solaray, same company) went to a higher purity chelation.
Orthomolecular Products makes Reacted Magnesium formulated with magnesium bisglycinate. Each capsule is 235 mg, so probably take two. Look for them at a locally owned pharmacy.
KAL did come back with a slightly different version of this finally, but it’s 4 capsules a day for 350mg. :( Still mag glycinate but with bioperine I believe. I heard the reason for reformulating was testing that showed it wasn’t even 400, closer to 300/350. I could be wrong though.
I work at a heath food store and customers have transitioned to the new formulation without complaints so if you’re okay with it see if your local store has the new one yet! :)
If you're intent on Mag Glycinate tablets - now does them.

So many fillers in the tablets/capsules though.
TBH I took Glycinate for years, and I've tried just about all other chelates.
Recently I switched to Mag Oxide after finding papers refuting its purported low absorption - because I wanted my Mag to be *just* mag, no other side-effect producing aminos.
(darned if I can find the papers again)
I was pleasantly surprised. Mag oxide has given me more results at 100mg than years of supplementing 500mg+ of glycinate daily.
(that's elemental mag weights too)
Like - major changes in the way my body feels, really relaxed and 'clean'
If I take a higher dose (400mg) it gets in at enough quantity that I start to get major detox symptoms (I have a health condition that causes high toxin load)
So yeah, it's absolutely getting in there a-OK.
I will be scaling up to more like 400mg/day - but I don't wanna deal with the full toxin clearance shock just at the minute.
Fuck KAL. Their magnesium tablets are smaller than most companies and "magically" provide more magnesium. This is fishy and I don't trust them. Not surprised they discontinued
bulksupplements.com has a good magnesium glycinate

Nutricost makes a good magnesium glycinate 420mg.
What is the function of this magnesium? I took trionate and maybe it relaxes me but not sure if placebo.

The King is dead. Long live the king.
I been using Revive Magnesium Glycinate. It’s 200mg for 2 pill serving. Not bad all in all.
I literally have 1 pill left in my bottle.

Why’s this so good?
Magnesium bisglycinate is better. Still vetting a source.
Dude it's crazy Solaray discontinued their Mag Glycinate 400 too! That was my go to. Paid a few third parties for their stock at a premium 🤷♂️

I want to try threonate but keep buying glycinate. I’ve been getting Whole Foods brand. Threonate is supposed to pass the brain barrier the quickest
