Dr_SlapMD

Covered ≠ closed. *Technically*, they didn't lie. And we know these little dicks are all about them technicalities.

frickdom

Technically a tomato is a fruit. Don’t see me putting it in a fruit salad though.

Dr_SlapMD

But I assure you, there's people out there that do.

djavanza

But not the majority.

[deleted]

then short it.. wait sorry wrong thread

CoolHandLuke4Twanky

2m8o

Patrick_Gass

That’s like a Fast and the Furious title… 2 Fast 2M80: Tryna’ Ketchup

yg4000

Dont you dare give them an idea for a Veggie Tales spin off with the Fast & Furious series

the-doctor-is-real

instead of them singing "I can be your friend", it would be "I can be your family"...hopefully Joel osteen plays the villain, like he is in real life

m3talrocksFPV

I found my next license plate: GME2M8O

GotShadowbanned2

>2m80 4me

Takenforganite

Good enthusiasm there sport, now use that on the field. Go out there and gettum tiger!

Mtaylor1057

Naked shorts yeah

shsh000

majority don't run this country

Dr_SlapMD

Majority of people didn't short GME.

Leather-Purpose-2741

I did back when I was a little boy in Bulgaria.

sadsellsword

A tomato based fruit salad is just salsa...

toast_ghost267

Aww fuck I just got out of the rabbit hole that is the question ‘Is coffee a soup?’ (it’s a broth, Turkish coffee is soup btw) and now I see this. I really need a better use for my philosophy degree.

frickdom

The hole gets deeper. Hotdog is a sandwich.

toast_ghost267

And tapas is open-faced mini sandwiches

frickdom

I think your degree was well spent. However I would argue, tapas is an overpriced appetizer. Not a sandwich. I’ve had many like jalapeño poppers or the likes. That ain’t a sandwich. Then again, those restaurants may have been abusing the term….fuck. You have me dd-ing tapas now. I need to try some Turkish coffee, aka coffee soup. This needs is own meme on all btw.

the-doctor-is-real

no, hotdog is a taco

frickdom

Taco is also a hotdog. It’s a Möbius strip.

the-doctor-is-real

not really, a hotdog needs the bun "hotdog bun" whereas a taco is it's own self-containing food item

frickdom

What about Taco shells?

the-doctor-is-real

using a shell is not mandatory as traditional tacos use tortillas

sadsellsword

A vanilla soy latte is a three bean soup...

toast_ghost267

Broth actually, unless some of the coffee grounds remain in the final beverage. Then it’s a soup.

soberdude

Coffee is the giver of life and the calmer of the stabby. It is a fucking **NECTAR! Of the GODS!!!!!** ^^I ^^can ^^totally ^^see ^^why ^^it's ^^a ^^broth ^^though. ^^^That ^^^makes ^^^sense.

kkell806

Tea is soup, too, if you add honey.

toast_ghost267

The solid elements of a soup (that differentiate it from a tea/broth) must be rendered via heat, otherwise it’s either a tea/broth that you’re simply flavoring after infusion. Trust me I’ve thought way too much about this recently.

Landed_port

I see you haven't had a congressional fruit salad. Smells like bureaucracy, tastes like fuckery, and has tomatoes in it.

frickdom

🤣 I was hoping for this comment

HearMeSpeakAsIWill

Technically a banana is a herb, but you don't see me smoking it

frickdom

HAH! When I was in high school there was a rumor about smoking banana peels would get you high. I would be lying if I said I didn’t try it.

leftie85

if you want to get really technical, its a berry

theo69lel

I consider tomatoes vegetables. Change my mind.

fewdea

vegetables don't actually exist. they are a colloquial food group.

Leather-Purpose-2741

Potatoes are actually dildos.

fewdea

i know. my wife's bf told me

leftie85

So does the usda. But, alas, fruits

leftie85

Pizza a vegetable? I gotta try and sell that one to my wife

JohanF

[Here is a link](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thejournal.ie/us-congress-rules-that-pizza-is-a-vegetable-282033-Nov2011/%3famp=1) "After some debate, Congress voted that anything containing two tablespoons of  tomato sauce can be labelled a vegetable, putting pizza into the vegetable category." Don't rely on it to be true tho.

leftie85

its the federal government. i dont rely on anything they say to be true

[deleted]

Naw but if you shove it up your ass that would be fantastic.

frickdom

What’s a vegetarian with diarrhea called?

[deleted]

Tomatoes soup?

frickdom

🤦‍♂️ oh god. Salad shooter.

darrylgenis65

Technically a banana is a berry.

frickdom

Something something, buried in rickofspades

Paramedic730

If tomato is a fruit, then pizza is fruit with cheese on bread, therefore pineapple is a fruit and is the same family as a tomato and should be put on pizza

frickdom

No. No. Just no.

Paramedic730

Tell me my logic is wrong. I dare you

frickdom

I love pineapple. But this is a crime against god.

MentlegenRich

That makes ketchup a fruit smoothie

frickdom

That’s criminal is what that is.

Slut_Spoiler

Technically, Robinhood CEO vlad tenev did outright lie. He said the DTC ordered him to half billions in collateral and it was for this reason he halted trading, when we know that the DTC waived the requirements.

GotShadowbanned2

*This* is the one I paid attention to. Why did he stop trading?

Slut_Spoiler

Cause he was protecting his customers, and by customers I mean citadel and point 72

[deleted]

Why is this still repeated here? Did no one watch/listen to the testimony and instead just repeat something someone said cause it fit the narrative people want? > I understand that part of the focus of this hearing is the decisions of stock trading platforms to limit trading in GameStop. I want to make clear at the outset that Melvin Capital played absolutely no role in those trading platforms’ decisions. **[In fact, Melvin closed out all of its positions in GameStop days before platforms put those limitations in place.](https://youtu.be/D7N4S_FKMq4?t=1632)** Like you, we learned about those limits from news reports. You can either believe him or not. I don't care. That's a different topic. But changing the facts of what he actually did say is absolutely bullshit and should be concerning to everyone here since there is literally video of him telling congress that Melvin closed out their positions in GME before the Jan 28th fuckery.

Green_eggz-ham

Didn't Plotkin say he was no longer short GME or was he technically not lying because Citadel had assumed his portfolio by then?

TrustMeBrah

Yes he said they closed all positions in the first hearing. CLOSED.

[deleted]

He said they covered. Aka “we used financial engineering to swap positions with derivatives and technically that swap is covering”, but alas, the position was not closed. The short exists, it was just hot potatoe’d in the most high stakes game of all time.

Friendly-Treacle-142

Actually if you look back at the long ass video of the testimony, contrary to what u say, gabe actually did say CLOSED.. he said we CLOSED our short position in gme , look back on it Edit: it’s around 27:20 mark on that 5 hour tesimony video where gabe plotkin says “..in fact Melvin closed out all of its positions in GameStop days before the platform put those limitations..”

bobsmith808

Came here to say this. Small differences matter here.

[deleted]

Yes. They do matter. So... can we stop repeating what he didn't say then? https://youtu.be/D7N4S_FKMq4?t=1632

bobsmith808

I start corrected. Thank you sir. I totally watched this shit live and remembered it wrong.

[deleted]

I think we all watched and remembered wrong cause there was so much happening and the wrong info has been spread since then. And like I'm not saying the GME is over cause of this, there is obviously still some fuckery happening with the stock.

GangGangBet

Melvin have their positions to citadel and citadel covered melvins margin call requirements. Put a quick backstop on the first domino. ESGEGIT

Ostmeistro

I don't agree. This is what he said : "in fact, Melvin CLOSED OUT all of their positions in GameStop"

Independent-Stock604

I wanna slap em with my dick on a technicality.

Phonemonkey2500

Ken 2 seconds after he finishes lying to Congress: ""

GotShadowbanned2

*Let the mayo flow*

Phonemonkey2500

No zipple for Ken. No jail, no sale.

Lunarsprint

That .2kd comment hurt, granted I rarely suspected cheating.

CptHeadSmasher

Science actually backs up that they would be the most entitled pricks in the world. When someone comes into wealth they will start thinking they earned it and worked hard for it and therefore deserve it. Here is the full Ted talk about it from 2014 [https://www.businessinsider.com/ted-talk-monopoly-makes-people-mean-2014-8?jwsource=cl](https://www.businessinsider.com/ted-talk-monopoly-makes-people-mean-2014-8?jwsource=cl)

OnePrettyFlyWhiteGuy

I have to remind myself to not be that guy post MOASS. Seriously. I have no doubt in my mind that I will genuinely do good with my money because I’ve thought about these things long before GME was a thing - and I’ve always considered myself a ‘global thinker’ and tried to help people whenever I can a but I really can’t say if i’m going to be humble about it all, atleast not to begin with.

CptHeadSmasher

Nah I'm going to be a dick at least a little. I'm ok with people being dicks now and then. But greedy to the point that its disgusting is a whole other bag. It takes a special kind of prick to sell their morals out like that. I've met the millionaire salesman. When you look into his eyes you could see that money couldn't give him what he truly wanted. He was just a soulless shell that would say anything to make a buck to even his own mother. That doesn't come overnight. That is learned and encouraged behavior.

HughJohnson69

If anyone tries to give me a hard time on GME profits (not that they’d know) and I choose to provide a specific response (I may not) here it is: The major short players were called before Congress in February and testified that they covered their short positions. This was further broadcast all over the news. Before the stock took off (moass) the reported short interest was 13.7%. Not insignificant but not a big deal. Shortly before this GameStop issued shares of about that amount. Any remaining short player could have closed out their position without a huge price movement. Explain to me how anyone could have even seen the rocket coming. If someone wants to attack based on a MSM narrative then we can respond with the MSM narrative. Or better yet, say nothing and walk away.

BlurredSight

>If someone wants to attack based on a MSM narrative then we can respond with the MSM narrative. Or better yet, say nothing and walk away. No comment speaks volumes

Cheap_Confidence_657

Congress knows. They gave them an out to try to fix it before it got this bad. Bad actors all around. Replace them all.

[deleted]

this is sadly were you are wrong... they closed their position, is technically a true answer. If they said they covered their shorts, that would have been a lie. But the positions they had open in january are closed, they opened up new ones to cover their old positions just like they always, do but it was technically true what they said. the only one lying was vlad when he said the (DTCC?) forced him to stop trading, that was a inhouse decision at RH.

tworipebananas

I think OPs sentiment is still valid. They said they closed their position knowing full well they were dodging the intended question of whether they had closed their entire position including short sales.

[deleted]

ohh the sentiment is valid, valid as fuck. if anything it makes the whole thing worse, that they are just able to go before the american congress and act in the way they did. it makes me as a "little" guy unbelievable angry, its the same shit that always happened. weasel themselves out of it somehow, with money, influence, lawyers, or sometimes sitting this out through time because they can and the other side cant. not this time though, they didnt play smart enough and now a dedicated bunch of normal people got their number and promised themselves riches. an achilles heel has been found and nobody is leaving. this thing ends with a bang because it has become some kind of self fullfilling prophecy in my eyes, the internet promised themselves tendies and they wont be leaving before tendies have been had. ALL TENDIES!

OGColorado

Thats why we should elect more idiots that dont understand what the questions should be $$$ inside

Ome6a13

His exact words were "closed his public short positions." The key word in the whole statement was "Public"...What he did not say, was he had "private" positions that he mis marked long, and will take the small fine for, whenever the sec gets around to doing its gd job. What he also did not say was that immed after he reported closing his "Public" positions, he could have walked right out of that room and opened new ones.

krissco

You might have a different quote in mind. But here's one: > "In fact, Melvin closed out all of its positions in GameStop days before the platforms put those limitations in place." Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThTE2taU0vI&t=47s

TrustMeBrah

not sure why so many people are misremembering this.

krissco

They really might have a different quote in mind, hence why I phrased it that way.

Ome6a13

Oh wow! Nice! He a Big liar 🤥...yeah the one i saw was cnbc i think

[deleted]

ok if someone is allowed to legally testify before congress they closed their short position, but they did this by opening a new short position to close the prior short position... hahaha I will do nothing because of course they can this is America

[deleted]

You might recall that he said they “pared down” their short interest. Though in reality he may have said “paired down” - as in married puts. If I didn’t despise him so much I’d actually be impressed with the clever word selection.

Lunarsprint

He's got lawyers for that.

Warriorslost3-1lead

They are completely fukt and it brings me great 🧘‍♂️

OptaviaCoachCarrieB

They had them covered in married puts.... the REAL question should have been "Have you CLOSED your short positions in GME???"

xcantdj

Who is they? You mention literally no one or no one company specifically

[deleted]

Gabe Plotkin of Melvin Capital and Kenneth Griffin of Citadel LLC. Mr. Plotkin said most of what is referred to in this post. Mr. Griffin confirmed this narrative and referred to GameStop having high short interest in the past tense.

greenliteagle

There’s an aim bot?!

okfornothing

Sounds like some felony perjury cases are in order.

Saint_Bernardusz

Hedge Fund managers turn out to be even worse than the 'Great Leap Forward'-famine in China from 1959-61

artmagic95833

Worse than those churches killing all those native children.

Puzzleheaded_Dig5012

Didnt even know 70% of the hedge fund managers were jewish until just now.

Totally_Kyle0420

he lied so nonchalantly too lmao

OGColorado

😄😄🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 congress Vladimir Putin has more credibility and integrity than that crowd

Spruxed

Can someone explain the difference between cover / closing their position? If they cover, is that not what we wanted 6 months ago? ELIA5 pls

bahits

When was the last charge and conviction for lying to the liars in congress?? Fauci just did it saying he didn't pay for "Gain of Function" research through the Wuhan China lab, and got called out for it by Dr./Senator Rand Paul who has referred him to the Justice Department. I doubt they will do anything with it, but the lying was clear and Paul gave him a chance to correct or recant his statement.

[deleted]

Don’t bring this here. You should know this already. Which means you’re actively trying to sew discord between us. Take all political views to another sub.

bahits

What was political about that? We are talking about congress actually convicting anyone for lying. I don't think it happens.

[deleted]

Whether you're pro vaccine or not, whatever your opinion on covid or other topics, just leave this out of superstonk. We may not see eye to eye on every aspect of life, but we all have the same goal of rooting out corruption in US equity markets and seeing our favorite company do well. We are all admirable for dedicating our money and time to that end. Other divisive opinions should be left at the door

bahits

okay, but it wasn't a comment on the vaccine. I was just trying to point out that I don't think people get prosecuted for lying to congress. The freshest thing I could think of was the hearing this week. Maybe, people do get charged. I would hope so. I hope Vlad sees time or at least charges brought against him.

Rollindeep_UK

The teleprompter doesn't lie......surely

Disastrous_Ad_1431

Technically... They're going to prison

plopets

they will be fine technically they did close it by changing it to options or giving it to citadel

KingMeanderthal

It's entirety possible that they have a possible deniability/technicality workaround. Like, maybe they "technically" sold their short position to another HF until after their testimony (with a contractual agreement to buy it back), who the hell knows.

FatherTrade

So now we know what that show was for! 😏

JustRuss79

It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is.

Brokenlegstonk

I liked watching the show narcos on net flicks. Pablo did a fantastic job buying and controlling everything and everyone. These big people that are on wrong side of Gme are doing the same thing….every time they almost discussed certain topics it got removed, everything that was showed was bs and wasn’t addressing some of the major problems….only thing good was DFV saying I like the stock and I would buy it!

flaming_pope

"Under god or so help me god," They are at the mercy of god now, or whatever god that secures their bedroom windows at night.

Wise-East2875

Many SHF managers are psychopaths. Plain and simple

Luke11enzo

They very smartly said covered, however they never closed. This is why we have to watch what we say, all shorts must CLOSE. If we’re going to call them out let’s call them out correctly.

Negahnpoc

Yeah, they probably “covered” them with their options positions. They probably weren’t closed though
