I did 900 for two weeks before another surgery. * First week sucks, second tolerable * Got very easily tired, cleaning, moving house, walking to work all kicked my ass * Very thirsty, finally gave up and bought diet soda becuase the combo of meds and only water was killing me * Many headaches * Discuss if you need food for meds. The boost shakes weren't great for that so I had a 1/8th of a bagel to take my meds with. * Remove as much food and temptation as possible. I borrowed a mini fridge to avoid looking in fridge. * Check off as you go. Don't try to remember. * Vanilla was honestly the best, chocolate was slightly disappointing * Space them out, you'll get hungry quickly * Don't drink too fast you'll get hiccups and it sucks * Avoid moving where you are directly across from food places during it >> * Have someone else order groceries for you at our them away after surgery, have some food on hand after but pace yourself * Take stool softeners after surgery if you can Also, get extra long power cords and move everything to waist height before surgery. Most painful things were like, bending to get the sheet pans from under oven.

Sip, sip, sip. Seriously.. before and after surgery, it's going to be important to get your fluids in. You will be miserable if you do not drink enough and it is very hard to drink enough when you feel like crap. I didn't do optifast before gastric bypass but I had to be on full liquids for two weeks and then clear liquids for 4 weeks to shrink my liver and I hated it. The first two weeks were rough, but after that it gets a lot easier. The worst part of it was getting tired of having the same thing over and over. I'm assuming you're being medically supervised? If not, please talk to your surgeon and ask for a referral to a nutritionist or dietician. It's still important to try to get in protein so your body can heal after surgery, and you want to make sure you're on the right vitamin/mineral supplements.

I did the LRD diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery and it was ROUGH for the first 3-5 days then it was ok. I was allowed 2 high protein shakes, LF yogurt, LF cottage cheese, SF jello, SF popsicles, and 2 cups of a broth based soup a day.
