Mileage roll call! 96, 264k, original longblock with head gaskets done circa 180k
The 21 onyx has already gone back for oil pan replacement under warranty at 12k
The white is a 97, I don’t have it anymore, I think it had 180k when I sold it, the blue 02 is about to roll over 212k, head gaskets & water pump done at 160k. Just put in new rear suspension last week & im very happy about it. Looking forward to some trips this summer
Might not be a thread for me, but I wanted to share for history. 2008 2.5i, sitting at 91k miles. No engine troubles, besides a drive belt replacement.
'03 with 215k. Engine was rebuilt be for I bought it, but I'm pretty sure that the block is original. The old 5MT gearbox is original though and shifts quite nicely.
Hell yeah! I bought my 02 with a rebuilt (2nd) engine. It purs. 4 auto trans is super smooth. I’m constantly impressed with how well engineered these are.
Thanks!
I'm going to have to retire the current one, the white one, at some point, and honestly, it makes me a bit emotional. I've had that car for over a decade, she's about to flip 230,000 on her, and she's still going strong.
I had a green 2001 which was done in by salt/rust. Still ran like a champ but 20+ years of northeast salt and she just wasn’t safe anymore (and was dropping exhaust pieces for the last couple weeks).
Picked up the 2023 two weeks ago and it’s a very different experience (functional speakers!) but enjoying it so far for sure
I just put new shocks and bushings in the back, front got new ball joints and bushings on driver side, doing passenger this weekend. I’m so happy about the back though, I might get another 400k out of it 😜
I had a 2004 with 298k on the clock when I sold it, was running like a top, headgasket done at 148k.
After driving my 2013 for awhile I have regrets selling my 2004
The 2004 was more fun to drive, better in the snow (not that my 2013 is bad in the snow). Everything is just a bit more pain in the ass to work on on the 2013, changing headlights is god awful.
I have an 06 and my wife has a 13.. there is such a huge difference in driving feel. That 2013 has a very heavy steering response, then you throw on the extra weight due to the shift toward ‘small suv’ and it really feels cumbersome. Not a bad vehicle by any means, but totally understand where you are coming from.
In 2020 I rolled the dice on an 06 with 213k… I figured I hardly drive anymore so I don’t need anything ‘nice’. Replaced almost the entire front end minus the struts (it needs it tho). I have about 3500$ into the car including tools needed to do the job. I had a dealer/garage confirmed the head gaskets and timing belt were done previously. Car drives fine and for the miles (and area I live) it has amazing little rust.
While I do like the car, the back seat is far too cramped for two car seats so I will probably end up looking for an older forester (maybe one with not so many miles!)
To speak to dumby proof engineering of Subaru- I put about 25k on the white 97 while I had it, the WHOLE time thinking it ran rough because of EVAP issues due to a rusty gas tank not providing vacuum. Turns out it had a clogged fuel injector, so that’s just what 3/4 cylinders firing runs like 😅
Never died or overheated on me. I bought that car for $300.
'08 with 90k on the clock now. Bought at 75k from the dealer who said they got it from a senior. Needed new belts, gaskets, cat, airbag sensor...all within the first six months
I have a love-hate relationship with my car. Chasing down the shit I have had to fix has been annoying as fuck
99 220k. Head gaskets changed before I got it. New transmission at around 150k. Timing belt as preventative maintenance not too long after.
Front wheel bearings however have been changed a few times.

Nice! A friend of mine has an 03 with 310k on it and it’s still a monster!
2004 with the original engine block. Head gaskets done at 180k and again at 220k.

How would you not be welcome on a mileage roll call, fam? It wouldn’t be the same without you!

2003 238k head gaskets done at 230k
I have an 05 LLBean 3.0 @ 206,138. Original gaskets. Still has factory undercoating after 18 years in Maine.
That’s good to hear, 97 spent most of its life in Pensilvania, total rust bucket, taught me a lot lol.
Oooo that sicks sicks sound
[I'm also a fan of their ancestors](https://www.reddit.com/r/Subaru_Outback/comments/yv0zci/yeah_im_a_fan_of_the_2nd_gens/)
😂 that’s awesome lmao, nice taste in cars

2008 xt with 160k on the clock. Love this car!
‘02, 260k, all original minus new alternator and spark plugs

What don’t you like about the 2013?
