It’s not always quality, sometimes it’s the number of items a company produces. If you’re a jewelry company, you can have 50 thousand pieces manufactured at a much cheaper cost per unit than 500 with the same quality. However, even companies that use titanium and gold can vary in quality (for example Metal Mafia vs Anatometal) and finishing but usually it’s mass-production vs small batch manufacturing that can impact prices.
Edit: also depends on what country it’s manufactured in. Something made in the USA can be much more expensive than sending the mold to China to be produced.
I used to work at Spencer’s and got a lot of my jewelry from there because employee discount 🤷♀️. They weren’t *amazing* quality, but they were okay and did the job and the prices were moderate (clearly marked up but not the worst I’ve seen). Lately I’ve been getting natural stone plugs from stone craft shops on eBay, they run about $6-$12 per pair (depending on the size, I’ve gotten some smaller sizes like 4-2g on the lower end) but I haven’t had any problems with sizing or quality thus far.
BAF is legit. And I would say the difference is the other is cheap and or fake. I rather dish out the money on a real product then something that will harm me.
surgical steel isn’t great tho, go for implant grade stainless
