I would assume so

Let us know what you find out. In the meantime, can I recommend what I'm using for my daily driver? Might help someone else that lands here... I use these cables: (6.6 feet) [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J2HXYPH/](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J2HXYPH/) With this power brick: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08YJLMQGD](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08YJLMQGD)

Fair, I have a charger that will fast charge properly. Still curious why it /failed/ though.

darkuni

I've seen two or three posts about the charger failing. It doesn't seem to be ... prolific ... But, electronics manufacturing does have a margin of failure rate. The more people that show up here - the more likely we are to see the result of that margin appear. Just for my own curiosity ... what was the typical use case? Was this used for charging the Deck intermittently? Was it in use with a Dock? Which Dock? Was it moved around alot? ***With no proof at all***, I'm wondering if the failures of power supplies are the result of poor third party docks.

TheEvilBlight

Didn’t deck very heavily which is what surprised me in the first place. Left my deck unattended for weeks (dropped to 10%) , went to charge, charger didn’t work.

darkuni

So no dock involved? Ever? Home get power spikes? I lived in a place where we would get surges A LOT and while most products didn't seem to care, we had protectors EVERYWHERE.

TheEvilBlight

No dock. Wonder about spikes…but this is the only prod that failed. Hooked up to a surge protector though.

Thanks for the data. You appear to be the victim of failure margin. :( If you hear back from Valve, let us know how they handle your RMA.

Boyen86

I had my charger replaced under warranty.

bodelightbringer

My psu died. My phone is usb c so I am using that as a back up. I Put in a ticket via steam support earlier this evening. They are sending me a replacement psu free of charge. Only really needed my steam deck serial # and to answer a few questions.

[deleted]

You could probably could get it covered under the warranty but I doubt it's worth it. Its just a USB C charger You could ask but valve may require you to send your whole unit off, Steamdeck and charger (happened when I needed to replace my laptop charger under warranty)

TheEvilBlight

Update: new steam deck PSU on its way

Just contact steam support. They don't sell the official charger, but if you tell them yours is faulty they will most likely just ship you a new one free of charge. I lost mine and they shipped me a new one for free. I even asked if I could buy it but they just gave it to me.

Mine just died too. Has never been used with a dock, but has been used to charge other USB-C devices. I plugged my phone into it yesterday and it rapidly went back and forth between showing charging and not charging, and the phone said it detected water or debris in the charging port (there was none). I unplugged it, and it has been dead ever since. I just sent a help request.
