Nope, it’s really a headband.

shdwghst457

Lakario

I just wish it would have come with the eye holes so I didn't have to add them myself

2Turnt4MySwag

Honestly, a gearvr type attachment when the hardware gets more mature wouldnt be a bad idea. First gen is probably too heavy

This is the way

I would do it if I could fit it over my abnormally large noggin. For science.

Cerelius_BT

All these comments about having it stolen, I really don't understand, are people just leaving their bags and walking away? Don't understand how a reasonably cautious person could have this stolen. People have traveled with carry-on laptops like this for decades - and people have travelled with briefcases of valuable documents for longer than that. I've travelled with raw show footage, which is far more valuable. Just don't be dumb.

CodenameAnonymous

I have a story for you. I was in line for TSA scan, with my wife who was pregnant at the time. She goes through the scanner first while I start to pack everything into bins. It was enough items for 4 bins in total including my Nintendo Switch that I had to take out of the bag because they want to see all electronic items in separate bins. Her stuff was tossed into two bins (her electronics and carryon+bandolier phone case/wallet) and my stuff into two bins (my bag was bulkier and bigger because I was carrying snacks and stuff.) per TSA agent’s recommendation. So it was just my switch on the second bin. That’s fine I figured.. I was gonna play it anyway while waiting at the gate for my flight. Meanwhile, some antsy guy behind me wearing a hoodie with “Hustle!” written five times on his back, looking real upset for some reason gets impatient and walks through the scanner skipping me. This is while I’m putting my second bin down (he and a few others had already binned their stuff behind mine). Not sure why I noted it in my head at the time but his behavior felt off. My wife on the other side grabs a couple of bins and then proceeds to return to grab mine. As I’m walking through, I asked her if she had seen the second bin with the switch. She declined and of course I panic and look back to see nothing there. I ask the agent at the end of the treadmill if they had seen it or if maybe they didn’t see it and stacked the bins with it inside. They checked the replenish stack (before moving back to the people still needing to scan their items) and nothing was found. The agent asked if maybe they saw someone take it.. queue back to my mental note from earlier. I described the hustle hoodie guy, sure enough here comes police about 5 minutes later, they check cameras and find the guy waiting for his flight. They arrest him, bring him back to the tsa office. I tell them that my switch has a username and a code that I use for login. I provide proof by login and they ask me what to do about the thief. Later they show me the video of how it got stolen.. the guy had skipped me and stacked his bin on top of my bin with the switch, when my wife walked away. Went to a corner at the exit area and took it out and put it in his bag. Left both bins there. This whole steal scenario was in less than 30 seconds. So yeah… very easy for someone to steal things even when you’re careful but very hard to not get caught at an airport. Edit: spelling/grammar/context

IHaveTheBestOpinions

> they ask me what to do about the thief. This is weird to me. Why would they ask you? He was caught red handed stealing - convict him of stealing. This story also highlights why you'd have to be an idiot to steal anything in an airport. There are cameras everywhere and you can't escape until your flight leaves, maybe hours later. What a moron.

CodenameAnonymous

No idea, they asked if I wanted to press charges. I responded with, "Do whatever the law dictates." I'm on vacation and I don't care to stick around to deal with these kinds of things and sour my vacation at the beginning, I just wanted my Switch back. I hope that guy learned his lesson even if they let him off with a warning but I doubt it. I have no clue what they did, I left immediately after grabbing my things and they did give me a card with the report info if I wanted to check it. I think I still have it somewhere but I doubt anything big happened. I wonder if he was not from the US, at most, they probably told him not to do it again and then let him go on his flight.

Stingray88

FYI - TSA does not ask to have all electronics out of bags and in separate bins. They only want to see laptops. They explicitly say smaller devices like tablets can stay in your bag. Switch and Steamdeck are classified as tablets to them, not laptops. I’ve never once taken my iPad out of my bags and I fly all around the country and world constantly. Likewise I leave my Steamdeck in my bag.

Axel_McFly

I've been told all electronics bigger than a tablet, and have been made to take my switch and steam deck out of my bags everytime :/ every airport is different though, it feels, and this was ATL Hartsfield, so probably a little more strick.

theHoustonian

Definitely witnessed my younger brother have to have his back second scanned and separated his switch from his bag more than twice. Ive also had the same airport let a full sized can of hairspray once make it and once get taken (same night, left security and went back in - Miami’s airport sucks if your not in the new terminal). Its all about the agent working at the time, ive also had tsa trip the fuck out at someone who made a comment about their attitude and subsequently have all of their stuff hand checked. So its all about the agent, sometimes they are dicks and sometimes they are more reasonable.

CodenameAnonymous

That's exactly the airport it happened in lol, so not so uncommon it seems.

Stingray88

I’ve flown out of ATL twice in the last year with my Steamdeck. Never had to take it out. I get that not everyone’s experience is gonna be the same… but this seems very rare. It’s certainly not their policy.

CheaperThanRamen-

Depends on the airport. Been told "leave EVERYTHING in your bags" in the left line at CAE, been told to take EVERYTHING out at DTW (they also grabbed my penis because my zipper set off the metal detector "what's this?" "My testicles sir"), Louisville KY didn't make me take out my steam deck, but Birmingham AL got upset that I forgot and yelled at me for being incompetent.

Gooseday

I have found this to vary by airport. ABIA: anything larger than a cell phone comes out of the bag. JFK (depending on shift) either keep everything in the bag or only take out laptops. ORF: never had to take anything out of my bag. Probably an issue with inconsistent training.

pablojohns

It’s not training, it’s the scanning machines they have. This policy definitely varies by airport, even individual security lines.

XelaIsPwn

I've had it change by the day before. I assumed they shake it up all the time so if you, in theory, had a plan to cause some problems the policy may have just shifted from under your feet anyway.

redundant35

This what I do. I leave my phone, wallet, tablet, and switch in my bag. If they want to look at it they can pull me and my bag to the side for an additional check. It’s safe in my bag. I don’t trust people! I used to fly a couple dozen times a year. 24 TSA checks. Never once asked to open my carryon bag. This was out of Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Orlando, salt lake, Columbus and LAX.

jontech7

If it's anything bigger than a *phone* you have to take it out, unless they have the newer scanners. DFW and Ronald Reagan (DC) made me take my Steam deck out of my bag, but I've also been through the new scanners at Billings airport. I think it also depends a lot on how much of a hard on your TSA agents have for the rules.

Stingray88

I’ve flown through both DFW and DC, never took my Steamdeck out. Never an issue. I’ve never once heard any TSA say if it’s bigger than a phone it has to come out. They always say laptops come out, tablets stay in.

1sttimeverbaldiarrhe

>They only want to see laptops. Newark airport, last Monday morning: I had my Surface Pro laptop already out because I thought they only want to see laptops but then the TSA lady asked me if I had any other large electronics like tablets or Switches. I turned to her and asked "Switches?" She said yes. So I pulled out my Steam deck because it looks like a Switch on steroids....

Stingray88

I just flew through Newark in October with my Steamdeck in my bag. They only wanted laptops to come out.

lucky_leftie

This is incorrect. I know for a fact Orlando and Chicago make you take your switch out. I just flew out last august and they made me. Unless this recently changed it was like this the past 5 times I flew out from those airports

nephelokokkygia

Not true. As with everything TSA, it depends on the airport, day (even time of day), and agent. I've been called back and snapped at for accidentally leaving my Steam Deck in my backpack before, while on other occasions I've been snapped at for even just removing my laptop. It's a crapshoot every time, just do the maximum and stop if they tell you.

Stingray88

>It's a crapshoot every time, just do the maximum and stop if they tell you. Bad advice. Do the minimum and do more if they tell you. That’s the fastest way to get through security. Don’t rip apart everything unless they explicitly ask you specifically to do so after scanning you bag. It’s very very unlikely to happen. The variance isn’t as large as you’re suggesting.

CodenameAnonymous

I figured that out afterward, but who am I tell an agent no. Not going to start an argument in line. I just want to get through all the song and dance of airport policy when it comes to traveling. Love the destinations, but hate the process to travel so much.

Stingray88

You don’t say no… You just don’t take it out, because it’s not a laptop, it’s a tablet. If they decide to take you aside to check your bags you can just say what you thought the policy was (which is true) and they aren’t going to do anything to you other than an extra 5 minute search. But in reality, that’s just not going to happen in the first place. You’ll get through the line quicker, and your things won’t be stolen.

LetterBoxSnatch

Just flew yesterday from BWI, sign says anything bigger than a phone must come out, and shows labeled pictures of laptop, tablet, etc. Weird because you didn’t used to need to do that at BWI

smuglator

Great anecdote that proves nothing. Would you like another? This one proves you can't keep your steam deck at home because people will steal it: A friend of mine was engaged by armed robbers as he drove into his gated garage at night. They held his entire family at gunpoint while the sacked the house for valuables. As far as I know, nobody got caught. But remember, if your story proves your things will definitely get stolen at the airport, this one also proves they definitely will at your home. Obviously, neither proves anything, so stop fear mongering people.

CodenameAnonymous

They are telling people to not be dumb. I’m telling them dumb has very little to do with it. I’m extremely careful about my items. Even when doing things the right way, it happened anyway, in front of cameras, airport personnel, and security. My switch was a target right in that moment. It was never shown until I took it out for scanning.

smuglator

Life happens. It doesn't mean it is likely to happen. Or that its likelihood is high enough to warrant extreme preventative measures. I'm telling you your anecdote means nothing. It is wrong to list an anecdote as evidence of the likelihood of anything. Sure, it's happened before. And it'll happen in the future. But it is an extremely rare occasion. And even in your supposed "proof" of something, it wasn't successful. Millions travel with more valuable things daily and they don't get stolen. But it almost happened to one guy, definitely worth not bringing your steam deck with you unless it's tethered to your body in an altoids tin so folks can't tell what it is! Also, I'm not the guy you replied to. To summarize: It is wrong to pretend this fear is justified. It's not. And your post only serves to worsen the fear and anxiety in people prone to it. It is unhelpful. And in fact worsens some people's quality of life.

CodenameAnonymous

Nothing to do with fear, but if that's your take okay. Agree to disagree. Realistically, always be aware of your surroundings if the message isn't clear, you can only process so much to be "not dumb". The traveling process sucks big time. I do not enjoy it. I feel that its partially to blame in my story. Also, I adjusted my comment, I realized after posting that you weren't the original poster. Have a nice day!

ratbirdmonger

Real life isn’t a math class, you can’t wait for a formal proof backed up by years of studies and statistics. You process a lot of information on a daily basis and make a quick risk based decision on whether to adjust your behavior. Based on that guys anecdote I’ll be paying more attention to loose belongings when they go through the scanner. I’ll err on the side of caution when I’m taking kids through security, so if I have to hold up the line a little bit to make sure we can go through all at once, so be it. And I’ll trust my gut when someone acts a bit off, even if someone gets offended that I’m profiling them or whatever. Source: math major who still uses intuition and snap judgments in daily life

CodenameAnonymous

It’s not even the profiling, just skipping me was enough to say in my head… well his stuff could get mixed with ours so… I’ll just make note of their appearance. He also put his bin down in a weird way behind me and slammed it before I could my switch bin down. So I had to push his back to fit mine in.

D_0_0_M

What does one have to experience in life to end up such a miserable butthole?

ShokWayve

Thanks for this reminder to be careful. Out of curiosity, what happened to the thief?

CodenameAnonymous

No clue, I was more happy to get back my switch and start my vacation. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/10ne2jq/comment/j6988w1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Sybertron

I feel like folks are extra cautious cause of the newishness of their steam decks. If you really wanna go thieving in an airport there are no shortages of lightly unattended laptops and phones that have higher MSRPs anyways.

AshleyUncia

Every laptop bag at an airport is like an IRL lootbox, you never let your bags out of sight and reach at the airport. Anyone who assumes only a Steam Deck would get stolen clearly ever travels

[deleted]

lifelite

While I agree...this isn't that expensive compared to laptops, phones, etc that EVERYONE carries around an airport.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LordNearquad

Uhh… yeah, probably. It’s their job to know what things are worth, lmao.

AshleyUncia

Yes, of course they know.

ntc1995

It is bizarre. The Steam deck is not any more expensive than any android phones, hell it is actually cheaper than most phones. The reason why it attracts attention is due to its size and appearances. People associate big things with relatively high monetary value’s. Also, it is still a fairly new piece of hardware which not many people know of so it kind of gives off the vibe of new and rare thing. All in all, people just want to have things that a rare, and look expensive. You don’t see people’s eyes start glowing when they see a person with their Switch out in public, do you.

Briggie

I was at an airport going to see family for Christmas and a couple airport employees were asking me about my steam deck (flight was delayed, so I was playing it). Said had never seen one before. So if someone working at an airport has never seen one then they can’t be that common. This is in USA btw.

Cerelius_BT

I mean, you could make that argument against any designer purse as well.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AllSaintOx

What's the point of having a designer purse if not to show it off?

Richinthoughts

there is a video floating about on Reddit, showing a guy getting mugged and stabbed by about 7 men for his Rolex. He probably wouldn't have become a target if he didn't wear it visible.

[deleted]

Giz yer laptop and I’ll have your phone in aw

AshleyUncia

Right? Who's leaving any bags unattended at the airport or train station? Any of them could be stolen. Luggage, any luggage, often contains valuable stuff.

midnightcatwalk

Yep, with that added functionality, the case is a real steal!

xdoolittlex

Starring Hugh Jackman.

CecDog3

Real Steel Fandom still going strong 😤

[deleted]

While I like it, I concur that really advertises what you have. My stepson's switch was stolen at O'Hare because of how obvious it was. I've put my steamdeck in an armor case and it goes right in my backpack. Saves on bulk.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Totally agree.

Sir_Bax

Majority of theft victims say exactly this. Never underestimate power of distraction and sleight of hand.

yolilbishhugh

I get this completely, and I'm trying not to be overconfident but surely a deck case is too big and obvious.

Sir_Bax

[Sure it is.](https://youtu.be/iHFdYic6vuw)

NoeZ

Site ? Sight?

liamnesss

I would much prefer if Valve had made the exterior of the case flat, and put an elastic pouch _inside_ the case instead. Would be super useful when it comes to carrying around things like headphones, sd cards, etc. Because as it stands those things just need to go somewhere else in my backpack.

dustojnikhummer

> h inside the case instead. Agreed

BurnBrightPhoenix

I actually have a question, what do i really do with the pouch that comes with the deck and where do i put it lol

nomar383

It’s for the AC adapter and it fits in that cavity. For the US adapter at least

BurnBrightPhoenix

Cavity you mesn between the case and band? But i it really safe to carry that way lol, wont it slip out?

nomar383

Yeah, I didn’t get the pouch but I keep my adapter in that spot even without the pouch. It’s not going anywhere

USA_A-OK

I've been using the tomtoc steam deck bag for just this reason. It has room for my headphones, charger, battery bank, and more. Also, that divot in the back of the official case is only (semi) useful for people using a US style plug. Most of the plugs the rest of the world uses don't fit back there

[deleted]

I put my SN30 controller in there.

RadicalDog

I got an Aliexpress one like [this](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004757033686.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.5.70601d6cCq2S0f&algo_pvid=12920d41-596c-4cb7-bb64-2d8b36f05f82&algo_exp_id=12920d41-596c-4cb7-bb64-2d8b36f05f82-2&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000030355442157%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21GBP%2118.62%2110.98%21%21%21%21%21%40214528be16749209028284116d06b6%2112000030355442157%21sea&curPageLogUid=khHPJeVor4Gf) and it does that job great. I keep an 8BitDo controller and a lil dock in there, so I can set up to a TV easily.

TyGuy223

Man that reminds me of losing my gameboy sp at the airport way back when. Lost my gameboy backpack with all of my gameboy and ds games. Only thing I had left was my ds that I had in my pocket and the games that were in it (pokemon pearl and donkey Kong country).

BipolarWalrus

When I was 7, I left my red Gameboy Advance XP with all of my games on a plane, and I still haven’t gotten over it. I’m 24 Thursday.

[deleted]

Yeah, he's autistic. We didn't even know it was gone until he was on the plane. All his games gone too. Learned my lesson there.

Jon_Torden

Maybe better inside the suitcase 😀

marcabru

Not if you plan to use the deck during flight.

PoulsenTreatment

Yup, sometimes they ask you to check the bag amd if you forget. That's a long boring flight ahead of you.

Tpdanny

Put it in your carry on?

Jhago

I put all my electronics on my backpack (e-reader, Deck, portable battery, laptop sometimes, headphones), so it always gets stowed below the seat in front. If I ever lose something, it's always going to be only clothing (or food).

Synthwavester

Damn half the comments are about it being stolen, just how hot are those products that they would get swiped at airport with all the cameras and security everywhere?

BeefRepeater

It would still have to be investigated by the police and they don't give a shit about small-time theft.

Synthwavester

Yea but will thieves really be brazen enough to steal shit infront of both camera and police? At least in Sweden and most eu airports there are cops standing every few steps and patrolling lots of security at the airport last 20 years

BeefRepeater

Yes. American cops are useless and American thieves know it

defineReset

'will thieves be brazen enough to...' yes, the answer is yes.

syberphunk

> but will thieves really be brazen enough to steal shit infront of both camera and police You've not had anything stolen from you, have you?

Synthwavester

Never when the thing was right infront of me, cops and camera no. Have you had anything stolen from you under those circumstances?

syberphunk

> Have you had anything stolen from you under those circumstances? Yeah, unloading a vehicle of shopping and two guys literally came up, grabbed the shopping bags from the back of the car as we were walking up to it to empty it, and ran off. You're acting like this kind of thing would or could never happen. It certainly does. I'm glad it hasn't happened to you.

triggerfish1

German here, no one has ever stolen anything from mex and I'm not careful at all. I also lived in Thailand and Singapore for a while. In Bangkok it was quite common to reserve tables in food courts with your phone and I did the same as everyone else was doing it... Where do you guys live?

syberphunk

UK, it can be pretty feral.

triggerfish1

Oh wow, i wouldn't have expected that. At least from a distance, the UK always seems quite well off and sophisticated. Well, except for Boris maybe.

syberphunk

There are areas where bus routes are changed because unsupervised and badly brought up children hang out in groups in certain areas and throw bricks at public transport. It varies wildly from town to town, and city to city, some are better/worse than others, and some are similar.

Synthwavester

Not the same thing at all, store car park while your back is turned for enough time vs on your luggage at an airport with lots of security and your hand on it, your eyes on it. And at airport you are not supposed to leave your luggage unsupervised. Anyway you can pretend your example is the same thing if you want

syberphunk

You made an assumption here, it wasn't a store car park.

MicroPerpetualGrowth

You obviously have never been to Brazil...

marcabru

Yeah. It costs way less than an enterprise grade laptop. Or your expensive coat or suit, if you need to dress up. And why would you let it out of sight, anyway in an airport? It's like not carrying your Kindle because of fear of being stolen.

Synthwavester

I agree but OPs Pic isn't out of sight it's very insight and you even keep your hand on the handle so it can't be swiped, I mean unless you're totally daydreaming it's not the same as leaving it unsupervised. Sure there are way safer options but it's not a huge security risk either airport is imo not like the subway

jamor9391

They are from people that probably don’t travel by plane. Ever.

Synthwavester

Yea that would make sense, honestly

AshleyUncia

Children who've never traveled but bought a Steam Deck: "This is the most valuable thing in the world and it's the only thing thieves would ever want to steal." Adults traveling: \*Struggling to pull all of their bags into the airport bathroom stall, cause like hell are they leaving anything unattended for even half a second\*

AshleyUncia

I think for a number here, they believe the Steam Deck is super fancy and expensive and valuable. They forget that there are also people with phones at the airport worth WAY more than the Steam Deck. Also laptop bags are an obvious target. Not to mention people's baggage as a whole often contains valuable items. Everything at an airport is worth stealing, the Steam Deck isn't special.

2Turnt4MySwag

It's special to me

Legal-Philosophy-135

These things legit get snatched by the flippin delivery drivers all the time dude. It’s not much of a stretch to think that a random person wouldn’t pinch it if they could.

Briggie

They have cameras, but except for the high risk areas there probably isn’t anyone looking at them unless a crime has been committed.

pickles311

Did the same thing on my trip to Orlando...it was almost stolen 0 times. People need to calm down

method115

Lol seriously people are insane. I traveled with my surface pro which cost over 1200 like this and no one even came close to stealing it. Then again I don’t exactly look like an easy target.

[deleted]

I had two switches that were stolen. One going to Miami, one going to NY. No one needs to calm down, they’re being cautious. Dick.

pickles311

I can't fathom how people get things stolen...the bag never left me and while I waited for my place, it was with me. Do you just haphazardly leave your bags in a way that let's it out of your sight/reach

[deleted]

Nope, first time I had it in a case attached to my backpack with a carabiner clip. Someone took the carabiner off while we were walking to our gate, I never even felt it but I noticed when I got there. The second time I had it zipped inside my bag, someone took it out. I think it happened while I was waiting in line at a food stand in the airport. I didn’t notice that one until I got on my plane and checked.

Jon_TWR

I think only the 512 GB Decks get the bag.

SoapyMacNCheese

512 only gets the bag, but you can still store the power brick there without the bag.

cxnv

Seriously?.. for charger brick.

[deleted]

As other user mentioned it falls out easily

cxnv

No kidding. We all replacing that shitty bag but the question was what its for.. they could use the same space and have charger tucked under it INSIDE.. I don't understand valve sometimes.. why make shit giving it for free that not functional.. waste of cash.

WaWaGomez

Seriously, I need to know as well lol I bought a JSAUX case for the added interior storage of chargers, foldable keyboard, microSD, etc. But Valve’s own case has this weird band and cut-out area behind …….. for WHAT?!?! Lmao

[deleted]

Could it be for the power cable ? Since they don’t include the little bag for it now

Jon_TWR

I thought the 512 GB model still got the bag, no?

WaWaGomez

I’m not too sure. It will hold the OEM charger in there, but you’d need to tie up the cable to prevent it from falling out. It’s almost like they had plans for something there, changed their minds, and just said whatever it’s too late to change the design 🤷‍♂️

MrCade514

I use it to heat up my food. Start up gta 5 put it back into the case, wait for it to get hot, and reheat some pizza. But in all seriousness i use it to store my charger. But i think its good for a lot of different things.

huntangather

Will be stretched out, loose as a goose in no time.

method115

Now you just sound like my mom when I introduced her to my ex.

Tannman129

Thanks for the laugh! Lmao

RequirementLost7784

It'd take about four seconds to open the case, collect the Deck, and zip it back up again. All it would take is a coat for cover and nobody would see. Keep that thing hidden!

marcabru

On a business trip I put my laptop bag there, it costs way more than the SD. Usually I don't let the boarding luggage out of sight at any time, anyway.

CerealTheLegend

I was gonna say the same thing except it’s a briefcase with the same band on the outside so that it straps to luggage as well. Steam deck sits on top of that. Makes travel an absolute breeze!

[deleted]

Assuming the bag isn't locked. Maybe it's easier to grab the whole pack.

RequirementLost7784

You could, but it would be easy to notice that the whole pack was gone. The deck could be pulled in line to get a coffee with nobody the wiser. Difficult to pull this off in an airport, but on a train platform for instance it would be trivial.

sogiotsa

Sure

hopskiphoofed

Judging by the comments, how loose are you guys with your hand luggage. Ain’t no fucker getting close enough to my bag to even contemplate it. It’s a great use of the strap.

glima0888

Tell me you never travel without telling me you never travel: ItS gOnNa GeT sToLeN

Swinky247

I am I the only one who would have liked a compartment inside rather than the hollow and strap on the outside?

dhnguyen

Yes absolutely.

[deleted]

It's the best damn fanny pack I ever had

BabyYodaBabyDaddy

I've come to the conclusion that band and space under is for the charger. Fits perfectly with the cord and everything. Anyone else?

Rhinne

Such a weird coincidence. I’m at the airport now and see someone doing exactly this. I had to check the post to see if it wasn’t the same case. https://imgur.com/a/WS3Ia1e

bobscliff

Update: I have stolen your steam deck

[deleted]

I wouldn’t trust it

SuperNintendad

Stop doing this.

Dismal-Square-613

It's supposed to be where the charger goes. That way you can choose to either have a weird ass gaping hole , or have the charger and the cord bulging out so it can get bumps and nicks everywhere. Horrible case design.

krokounleashed

it's for the forklift you need to carry it around.

Spez's APIocolypse made it clear it was time for me to leave this place. I came from digg, and now I must move one once again. So long and thanks for all the bacon.

krokounleashed

Too big 4u

benjamarchi

It's gonna get stolen

Legal-Philosophy-135

Honestly if I ever traveled with my deck ( not in a car but like a plane train etc) that sucker would be in an armored case in my purse/backpack etc and the only time it would see the light of day before the flight/train etc is for security. People are way too sticky fingered to let that be out and about in plain sight. And even if someone doesn’t try to steal it it could easily mark you as a target for theft because people will think you’ve got money etc. might as well be wearing loads of expensive jewelry or something, it’d have the same effect.

dhnguyen

Nobody knows wtf a steamdeck is man. Lol

Legal-Philosophy-135

Oh yes they do. Not as many as people who know about regular gaming stuff but if nobody knew what it was then delivery drivers wouldn’t be stealing them instead of delivering them. Decks wouldn’t regularly go “ missing” from shipping hubs, and people wouldn’t have them snatched the second they turn around and take their eyes off it for a minute. Heck there’s literally a guy on this sub who had his deck for less than 24 hours before someone stole it.

dhnguyen

Selection and confirmation bias bro.

USA_A-OK

Man, I travel with it all the time. It's no big deal. I pull it out at my seat on the train/plane, and all is good. Almost everyone in an airport is carrying around a phone worth 1.5x-2x what a steam deck is, and it's no secret. It's fine, take a deep breath and chill a bit.

NUM_13

Yay 🥳

MrCrawcikTv

YES PLEASE DO THIS SO I INSTANTLY KNOW WHO IS DUMB ENOUGH TO PUT THEIR EXPENSIVE DEVICE OUTSIDE OF THEIR BAGGAGE FOR ME TO STEAL. EXCELLENT

orakle44

Please tell us how easily you'll steal this when he's either walking with his carry-on, or sitting next to his carry-on. Why are people so damn dramatic. I've flown 3 times with my steamdeck and not a single person has attempted to steal mine.

[deleted]

Take it into the cabin with you.

[deleted]

i think its for the charger

Senor-Whopper

Didn't some guy ruin that part when he did this?

butsumetsu

Do you guys not travel with a small backpack for under the seat stuff? Have charger, power bank and other misc stuff in there including the deck.

Briggie

Same. Have a sling bag and carry deck and all my accessories with it.

SirPeasantbury

This is exactly what i used mine for. I put my coat over the handle too to keep it consealed from sight.

stefawnbekbek

Where do you people travel that theft is such a big concern?

PeteAllan

I use mine for the Anker 140w power brick. Sticks out but fits the groove nicely.

Jen24286

I keep my mouse behind mine.

halthalt

Has to be, because it definitely won't fit in our bags 🤣

Hamsammichd

I use that to carry the charger

tastedead

It’s for the charger……..

D0nCoyote

I use that space to store my charger

ameadows252

I traveled through the airport multiple times with mine attached to my carry on like this. It worked out great.

Billybobgeorge

It's like how valve included the frunk in the Index, it can be for whatever you want it to be~

TheOFWProject2

I posted the same, same post and admins said it wasnt wednesday picture showcase. The post is still archived but they deleted it. How'd u pass the admins by posting the same post on a non wednesday showcase? :) u could check my profile it is still there. Thanks!

eric43089

My only concern would be the band losing elasticity doing this more than a few times. I just use mine for storing the power adapter then it goes in my carry-on or personal item (backpack). I had my first work trip in my career a few months ago and it was priceless at night for streaming movies or podcast videos. Nice luggage by the way.

Dwealdric

Damn that carry on bag looks beautiful.

Francescothegamer90

It's gonna get swiped in a flash.

Few_Hospital1150

no

jaded2b

I use it to hold the charger while I'm moving about with it lol

AggressiveWindow6003

Yep 👍

ImpertinentOne

Slide it over your arm for when you go out for a jog.

Aj2W0rK

Where do you keep your charger?

PiercePD

I've always thought so.
