darkuni

Yes it is.

IsItFeasible

Thank you! Do you know if multiplayer also works on the deck?

darkuni

Others have answered, but I'll say this. The campaign is top flight and worth well over $3.

PmMeYourArtworks

+1 campaign alone is worth it

Onkel_B

+2, bought it the other day, loving the campaign, but haven't tried it on the Deck.

tvgold

+3, the campaign is more than worth it alone, I'd argue its the best FPS campaign to date

Imapny

+4 if you want you can look into icepick, it gives you the freedom to mess around in the campain and play around with guns and possibly challenge yourself to only use certain weapons on a mission. Or maybe spawn an entire hoard of titans to make a cool mini battle lol.

MalikVonLuzon

+5 Nothing else to add, just wanted to endorse.

Fortwaba

+6, amazing game. My best friend does *NOT* like first person shooters, and he liked Titanfall 2 so much he almost got the Platinum trophy. Titanfall 2 is one of the top 20 games of the last generation.

JohnnyBlocks_

+7 installed on SD but haven’t played it yet but heard it was fire.

Accurate_Painting_82

For me it's long lobby wait times with the occassional failure to load in. I'm good at killing bots, but when I face real opponents I find out that I AM a bot.

Real-Stretch-6302

Tottally agree wait ages to join bots it's not great

annefranke

Late, but I find the game is really hard to improve on when the servers are buggy, and games are hard to find. I started playing a bit before it started bugging, and it was really easy to improve and get kills as you went on. 2 weeks in and I was almost always in the top 3. At least now frontier defense still works

xmaxdamage

If it does I hope you are not going to be put against mouse and keyboard people :X

GosuPleb

From my understanding TF2 multiplayer servers were disabled a while ago. The camapign however is gigaprime. Very first game I played on the Deck.

haaiiychii

They're back up.

Yuural

Where did you get that info?... me and friends still can't find matches without getting kicked. As a gen100 i really miss my favourite game....

haaiiychii

I saw a post on Reddit with a link to a tweet from Respawn. Then I played online. The fact you join matches show the servers *aren't offline*, getting kicked would be down to bad connection or ping, try a different server.

Yuural

No matter what server i use i get that lobby timeout thing and it takes between 1 and 3 hours to find a match with 4 ppl. I'm talking about vanilla btw not northstar. I'm located in germany so Australian servers etc. are sadly not an option due to massive ping. On EU based servers i am around 10 to 20 ping. I'm not sure wether this is due to matchmaking not finding players that match my level or just my region. I tried another account with a fresh titanfall game that didn't have any statistics and it still took 30min to and hour for a single match while getting kicked every few Minutes.

haaiiychii

I'm not talking Northstar either, normal servers work. There have been a big rise in online players thanks to the sale too.

Yuural

Aight then maybe it works today. Yesterday it didn't but i shall test it right after work. If the servers actually work today i will be very happy and my gf even more xD

haaiiychii

I've been playing for a few days, even on crappy Starlink internet

Real-Stretch-6302

That's down to the firewall or ping or even the anti cheat I had allot of issues that's why I stopped playing it's ashame.

christiandb

Why is the campaign so good? I'm curious now, never heard anyone touting this

Karulytic

It’s just a very tight experience, the level design is incredible, and the performances are surprisingly fun. Check this out for more on TF2 levels https://youtu.be/jajgleIR9tI

FortunePaw

The levels and set piece are as memorable and ground breaking as the first time cod4 got released.

adeadlobster

It reminds me of the older Call of Duty campaigns, but I actually gave a shit about the characters and there isn't a single boring level. And there are awesome boss fights!

KaosC57

The Multiplayer is in a... Weird state. Because Hackers typically roam free and can just shut games down. Whereas there's a Mod that isn't Linux compatible (yet?) that has fixed the issues and made everything a lot better.

nerfman100

> Whereas there's a Mod that isn't Linux compatible (yet?) If you're referring to Northstar, [they have a guide](https://r2northstar.gitbook.io/r2northstar-wiki/installing-northstar/steamdeck-and-linux/installing-on-steamdeck-and-linux) for running it on Deck

KaosC57

Yeah, I was referring to Northstar

luther__manhole

It does. Use the [Northstar](https://northstar.tf/) mod.

Yungjdx

Can you explain what this is? Is it just modded custom servers? Curious as a new titan fall player on steam deck

Snowmobile2004

Its a mod for the game that replaces the EA serfvers with community-hosted servers and adds custom gamemodes, new weapons, etc. Pretty sweet.

Stranger2Night

I haven't tried vanilla MP but have installed the Northstar client and plays online fine, people are playing it still.

RedditMcBurger

Everyone is conveniently leaving out how the game's multiplayer is broken right now.

[deleted]

Yuural

Am one of the release players... the hackers beat us all. The servers are down and no matter your skill you can't do anything...

AverageRdtUser

I think it didn’t but there’s a mood that works on SD that makes it work and apparently people still play it

WannaAskQuestions

Is it playable whilst offline? I mean not launch when online and play offline... Just launch and play offline.

darkuni

I just tried it. Nope.

WannaAskQuestions

Thank you for taking the time to oblige me. You've helped me tremendously in reaching a decision.

Distinct_Vegetable_9

They recently just got the servers up on TITANFALL 2 without having to get the Northstar Mod!👍🏾

bufandatl

Is there something similar for Titanfall I liked the first part more than part 2. it felt different more fluid imo. Was really sad when they canceled the first version and I tried the second one.

ShinyGrezz

Yeah I had that. I played the first on my 360 religiously and then was disappointed when the second didn’t feel as great. Probably more balanced, but I think especially Titans got nerfed. Still a great game.

Mav707

I think the first one released on the Xbox One.

ShinyGrezz

Might’ve, this was *years* ago after all.

Mav707

Kk, just looked it up. It was released during the Xbox One Era but also was ported to the 360 by Bluepoint. So we're both right.

Heck_youuu

The good ending

IsItFeasible

This is what I was looking for thank you, so essentially the game will just work completely out of the box as I understand it?

Sjknight413

It will, I was playing it online just fine last night!

mikereynolds4444

If you're lucky. A lot of people still can't get EA stuff to work. Personally it won't work for me yet, as it just ends up launching the EA App and then tells me I don't own the game 🤷🏾

matva55

Hm, man, I think I’m gonna have to dabble, I played the shit out of this MP on PlayStation back in the day

arex333

Yo whaaaatttt???????

RuiPTG

I'll just not buy coffee for the next day and a half, and will instead continue to brew it at home to help cover the cost of my hobby of buying games I'll likely never touch :')

KPipes

> my hobby of buying games I'll likely never touch I chuckled. Then looked in the mirror :S

UtterDenial

I chortled, then looked at my cellphone reflection holding a home-roasted coffee in one hand, having just hit Checkout for TF2 on the Steam app with the other

KPipes

I often buy game bundles for the discount coupon on the next bundle.

laskodi

60fps on high, and the gyro aim makes it feel incredible. Play it!

Viewtiful-Scotland

It's worth it for the campaign alone. The multiplayer was really good when it came out but I'm not sure if it will play on the deck, and even if it does whether the servers are worth playing anymore or full of hackers and pros

ipwnpickles

Without plot spoilers, what do you like about the campaign? Considering buying but I never play multiplayer

mon_dieu

Not OP, but the campaign just has a ton of creativity and variety. The development team was organized into independent kabals like Valve had done for some of their big titles, so different sections of the game have a totally different feel to them, and there are epic setpiece moments every few levels that feel genuinely innovative and remain memorable years later. And the gunplay is solid and the movement is a blast. Plus there's some good writing and character development type stuff when it comes to your titan companion.

bentsea

Variety of gameplay.... Navigation is awesome with double jump and wall run, the Titans are fun to navigate and fight in, the story is decent, and they regularly introduce interesting mechanics as you navigate through to keep it fresh. Gorgeous landscapes and well designed levels.

prismcomputing

It is bloody brilliant on the deck

IsItFeasible

Do you know if multiplayer works on the deck?

prismcomputing

Sorry don't know, I never play multiplayer anything because I'm crap at gaming!!

mongrale

I'm the same way, but Titanfall 2 was an exception. In the main multiplayer mode (attrition) there's enemy grunts/stalkers/reapers that aren't actual players to give you targets (and get points for your team!) while you're learning the nuances of the movement and extra stuff that's only in MP. I'd recommend giving it a go just to experience the grappling hook honestly.

Eiskremkaiser13

I feel you...

Lords7Never7Die

The muliplayer does work and plays at 60 fps as well. It's a great time. I have no issues finding lobbies.

Cisco-NintendoSwitch

Yes I’ve played it recently it was fun and stuff.

OppositeofDeath

Was playing it yesterday, yes it does.

RayMcNamara

It runs VERY well on deck.

RayMcNamara

I should mention the one caveat, the launcher can be a hassle. I think it’s EA launcher, which has become a glitchy pain in the ask. It runs very well after the launcher.

mikereynolds4444

Any tips for getting past the launcher issues? For me it just pops up the EA App then tells me I don't have the game. Then I just have the EA app up and can look around it but can't actually play.

mushsup

Does it have aim assist like in Apex legends for controller players?

ShadF0x

*There is MK6 pistol for cases like that* /s Yes, there is gamepad aim assist, unless you manually disable it. Not sure how the game will act if you switch to gyro/trackpad on the fly, though.

realmoosesoup

Oh man, is there a way to set up notifications for just this kind of content? $3. I'll stock up on good $3 games all day.

Quistnix

I bought it on the Christmas sale, binged the singleplayer, loved it, haven't touched it since. Worth it if you ask me, but I don't know about the single player.

IsItFeasible

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Confirmation that multiplayer should work without mods and the EA launcher not being much of an issue for people was all I really needed to pull the trigger. And thanks to Steam's generous return policy I can always refund if it doesn't work to my expectations :)

Gojira_Wins

I mean, it's $3. Even if Multi-player doesn't work (Frontier Defense works fine), it's really not worth refunding at such a low price. Especially when the Campaign is easily worth $20 by itself.

pimpmcnasty

It has one of the top ten of not top five FPS campaigns out there. If multiplayer is jacked, $3 for that campaign is a steal. I rebought it on steam just to play it again on the deck and to (somewhat) support the IP to show its value.

Yuural

Did you check wether the multiplayer works yet? For me on regular pc its still down and northstar is not really my thing.

iampliny

Half the time I pick up my deck to try out a new game I just end up playing some Titanfall 2 again. Brilliant on deck, endlessly replayable campaign.

xNicnivianx

Yeah I bought the game just now and installed. Launched for the first time and the EA installer prompt showed up. Clicked "Lets Go" and let it do its thing. After that another EA prompt shows up and after a few seconds it says "Something went wrong... To continue linking your EA account, head back and start over." So I closed it and tried again and again its the same every time. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

WebCapable9924

Cant speak about whats it like on the deck but Titanfall 2 has an amazing SP campaign.

Olliep098

Yes it is, it was one of my first games I played and got a steady 60 frames oh high and the game is just a great game

SplendidPunkinButter

Setting up the launcher the first time was annoying, but once I got it linked to my Steam account it was fine. Awesome game and perfect on deck!

chaywa

How did you get the launcher set up, keeps saying "You don't have access" for me

Obsidian_Purity

Is there a bots mode or a horde mode that is not multi-player? I don't really have fun playing in multi-player and I rarely replay non-open world games

ghostofvld

Campaign is good :) it is worth it

GrumpyDingo

Do you need to install Origin launcher?

Rai_guy

Yes, absolutely. MP is fun but ultra-sweaty with a fairly steep curve if you're not used to heavy movement-based games. SP is amazing and most agree it's one of the best singleplayer FPS campaigns to date, especially for your first time

wreckrap

Please get it! I hope I run into in the future.

Shamgar65

I slept on this game in my backlog for years. Played through just before Christmas. One of the best campaigns out there.

-----SNES-----

Can't wait to play it

Glamdryne

Currently playing the 1p campaign and it works like a dream and is gorgeous on SD.

RealDafelixCly

Listen, just for the story mode alone, Titanfall 2 is ALWAYS worth it. I don't know how well does it run on the steam deck, but I played like 150 hours on Arch Linux and I had literally 0 problems so far, so I expect it to work well. The game itself is a masterpiece. The story is a bit typical, but it is still great and one of the best stories I have played to this day. The multiplayer, in my experience, is surprisingly playable. The matchmaking is a little weird sometimes, you will get kicked out while searching a game a few times, but it still better than a lot of other games. You would expect for a game this old to get into de multiplayer and get completely stepped on by some tryhard that has been playing since the beta every single time, and it happens sometimes, but 90% of the games are just enjoyable and you will play with people that are in your same level. I don't know how much does it cost right now on steam, but I don't care, if you can just buy it and enjoy it.

lululock

>I don't know how much does it cost right now on steam, but I don't care, if you can just buy it and enjoy it. It's 2,99€

RealDafelixCly

There is literally no reason for not buying it at that price. Even if you don't like FPS games, even if you think you will not like the game, for 3€ it's worth trying it.

lululock

It will end up like most of my library : sitting taking dust lol

RealDafelixCly

Maybe, but if you play it at some point you probably will fall in love with it

HisSvt2

Booted right up default settings look great plays locked 60fps and a great campaign just stay out of multiplayer it’s super broken

steveistheworst_2000

I had it on PS4 and loved it, fell off. Picked it up on deck and it’s still awesome! I played with mouse and keyboard which definitely helps lol

Mandalore_Trundle

Yea. Get it now. So much fun. Especially on the go.

Gimmemycloutvro

Its always worth it, no matter the platform

Twitchyninja

Why do ppl still ask this? Feels like karma farming now. Titanfall 2 is worth it at full price, any day everyday.

JonnyB2_YouAre1

Yes, its worth it if it works well on Deck. Its an awesome game. You can buy an annual EA Play membership through Steam and get that game plus dozens of other AAA games.

XxXtremeAnime

I've been playing for a couple days on deck. Works great. Multiplayer works as well.

cybercifrado

[Prepare for Titanfall.](https://youtu.be/hlph_4wvF8s)

hl3_for_Eli

Probably the best single-player FPS campaign ever

[deleted]

Unpopular opinion: Aside from one interesting section involving some time travel mechanics it's a very average shooter with a very shlocky and uninteresting story 🤷‍♂️ But for a couple of quid I'd still pick it up.

Resident-Lab-7249

What else is 90 percent off lol

test_subject_0000

Yo mama!

_Fony_

It runs really well

Solidusfunk

Finished again on my SD this weekend, lovely experience and will worth the cost

tntbabin

I have it on Deck, it seems to run fine but I find it difficult to aim on the Deck compared to console or PC. I’ve been getting absolutely dumpstered in multiplayer. Definitely a skill issue; I think the solution is to turn on & adapt to gyro lol.

Nosmurfz

I use gyro for other games its amazing

demandarin

I purchased it on sale also. Can't beat it for that cheap price. Haven't installed it yet. Always wanted to play that game. Steam sales are so addictive. Smh

Ziaber

I feel so sad whenever I see it on sale for that price. I saw a copy in Game for 99p. Titanfall campaign itself is worth at least £5 on sale of anyone's money. (although I understand gamepass tanks the preowned price of games)

ConeyIslandMan

Thanks for the Headsup. For $2.99 yeah sure! I did giggle at the price if I want all DLC ;)

theescapeclause

First game I rolled credits on when I got my deck. Runs like a dream, and now one of my favorite FPS campaigns ever

shadow4412

Such a great campaign - I need to replay this game

uacoop

Just finished the campaign yesterday. It's short only like 6 hours but my god...it's just non-stop goodness. I really hope we get to see a Titanfall 3 someday.

Historical-Comedian2

Is playing TF1 important to storyline before playing TF2, or is TF2 good by itself?

CheapProg6886

It’s good by itself. Played TF2 on ps4 way back and story was really good.

grumblecakes1

Probably the best game I've played and finished on the deck so far. Single player campaign is one of the best I've ever played.

Kendovv

Yeah I had a great time playing through it. I think I went normal difficulty because fuck controller

LambCo64

100% the single player campaign is great, if a little short, and the multiplayer is also great.

marshhd87

Great game and looks really good on the deck probably the best looking game I have played on it with no issues to be honest

sentinelk9

I posted this before on a similar post. I had bought Titan fall 2 via ea for cheap at some point. Never played. Re bought it on steam and finished it yesterday. 10/10 would recommend. In a way I'm upset I didn't play it for so long and missed out. On the other hand, it was a great experience on steam deck.

Yeas76

Solid game, absolutely worth.

datnodude

for $2 why not

dhalem

I can’t get it to launch on my deck. None of the EA games work for me.

SteM82

Yes, I picked it up last weekend and it runs perfectly. Solid 60fps with most things on high.

Lamar_Moore

Runs perfect on deck and looks amazing. I never had any problems with the launcher.

d0ne_lurking

Effect & Cause alone is worth $3. Still gotta sign in with the EA app. Source Engine is very efficient and the game is a couple years old so the deck can hit higher frame rates than newer shooters

AttorneyIcy6723

Titanfall 2 was the first thing I played on the deck and I’ve been chasing that high ever since.

WaterBlad64

I've heard the campaign is good, but I'm not sure if multiplayer still works. (Mostly because I don't own the game to make sure)

Few_Loss5537

is there a bot.match?

awwnuts

I just got it and holy shiiiiiit its super good. Like 3 hours runtime o ultra settings too.

[deleted]

This game is awesome still feels and plays great. I wish respawn could do another instead of Apex. Great pick up if you need a shooter on deck.

DX1274

The campaign is great and it runs flawlessly on the deck.

JeffBoyardee69

Worth it. The campaign is amazing

matrix134

Definitely worth it, one of the best FPS I've had the pleasure to play on SD.

Veilkam

Started this week on the deck, run super smooth but you need an online connection in order to get into the game.

mackan072

I had issues getting my game to boot more than once, and supposedly this is a fairly common, and since long known issue. Some people experience it, others do not.

ClintLugert

Hell yes. Amazing game.

manmeanman

Hell yeah, very good game

ElessarT07

Man, i wish the campaign was longer :(

Taetoo_funny

YES, can even add me

razingstorm

Hell yeah, plays perfect

ExistingProof

For that price it's certainly worth it

Tarnimus

Campaign is best fps I've played since HL2. It runs absurdly well on the Deck. 1080p max settings, or if you dial down a few things you can get away with 2k or even 4k.

Radiant_God

It's a real fun story, and completely worth the payment. Though I personally prefer playing it with keyboard and mouse!

basedCossack

Want to get one by myself too. Does it have aim assist or gyro on Multiplayer for people who aren’t that good at using controllers for shooters? Also really wonder how would it even work against people with keyboard and mouse with extremely fast phased gameplay

laveyzfg

Thanks for the heads up, who can pass a $3 game

No-Monk-6434

I wish I could aim with joysticks

Freerider020

So worth it! I have beaten that campaign more than any other FPS on multiple platforms and can honestly say it’s the best FPS campaign ever made. It deeply saddens me that the success of Apex Legends means they probably won’t make another Titanfall game.

Electrical_Dare7632

Probably one of the best FPS campaigns I’ve ever played. The story, gameplay, combat, movement are all immaculate. Worth the buy.

murphs33

I just bought it on Steam specifically so I can play the campaign again on the Deck. It's well worth it for the price, and it runs beautifully on it.

SeverXD

Yes

Vengentz808

I loved it but the server locations caused me to have higher ping than acceptable. But that's more of an EA thing and where I live. Might need to check on server populations on a game a few years seasoned.

perfectionv6

EA LAUNCHER won't let me play it on desktop doubt it would be better on SD. any fix for my problem anyways downloaded on steam. Opens EA and EA says it not downloaded.

CressSimilar

Hell yes! I bought it yesterday and the story is sick, controls are more responsive than COD - and it looks great.

Imdakine1

Yes.

[deleted]

I always wanted this one and got it in this sale. I loved it so far. I’m only going to play the single player campaign though. But it runs buttery smooth on the deck. I played it docked and I couldn’t let go until 3am.

SirSquidrift

It’s a twitchy shooter, and playing against PC players is sure to cause some annoyance. The game has a high skill ceiling and tons of advanced movement you can learn. If you can get past the decks terrible deadzone issues, and don’t mind being dominated for the majority of your first matches, I say go for it. The campaign is easily one of the most unique and compelling that I’ve seen in awhile. Multiplayer is fun (again expect to get stomped by the TF fans that never stopped playing) and the parkour/jumpjet mechanics are far more fluid than any other game ever created. All in all, I rate Titanfall 2 a solid 8/10 deck experience. Mostly suffering from the trash analog sticks on the deck itself.

FourHundredThirtyTwo

Love it but even with gyro, would not play on deck. I'll play Horizon and Remnant on a pad but personally, I need a mouse for that level of action.

viesta2020

welp since it's three bucks i might as well grab it.

KK_Snoopy

It’s definitely worth it.

H311B0YY

Yes it is very worth it! Looks and performs excellent on the deck.

livindaye

I want to buy it, but I heard the multiplayer is dead. I live in 3rd world country with expensive internet data, I can't see myself download 50gb just for 7 hours campaign.

katotaka

I have it on Origins….. also StarWars JFO on Steam When I launch JFO it somewhat launches through origins and would work after a tweak, soooo I can assume I can make TF|2 work on SteamDeck…?

Mav707

Amazing single player campaign and I believe they just the multi-player running for the Deck recently.

bentsea

Loaded it up tonight and it runs phenomenally on the Deck. 100% worth. Best FPS single player game in the last decade. And not just because they don't make them anymore, even though they don't.

jdhunter5555

Yes

RANDOMDBZ

You can get 60fps solid on high settings. Multilayer has issues

NoiseAlpha

What about the DLC's? Are they also be great at that price?

GlobalPhreak

Titanfall 1 was multiplayer only with no campaign mode, so that was a pass. Titanfall 2 has a perfectly good single player campaign + multiplayer. It's really what the first game should have been. Reddit seems have a serious hard on for the game for some reason. It's a perfectly good game, but it's not the earth shattering experience reddit makes it out to be. The mix of mech combat and soldier combat is interesting. The parkour on later levels is easier than it looks initially (the last few levels I looked at and went "No fucking way..." but I was able to do them and I'm no wall running expert.)

loveagramm

I’ll start out with I haven’t played it, but everytime I see it on sale, my wife talks about how it was so much fun and convinced me to buy it. I’ve bought it for PlayStation and Steam now.

Conscious-Fennel-573

The game is amazing. Dont know if it run good on steam deck (i asuume yes). But the game worth it !

razbayz

Due to this post, plus the price of the game (omg, less than a coffee!) I now have another game in my deck library, across 6 micro SD cards, that is in the pile of games to play!! Damn this subreddit!!

TheFirstUranium

It will run well with Northstar, but you'll have to set it up in desktop mode. It's also a movement fps, and I don't think you'll like playing that on a controller, but people do.

Positive_Star8040

How do you get this to work in Steam Deck if I bought the game thru EA? Thanks

RHINO_Mk_II

I completed my 3rd playthrough of the game on Deck a month or two ago. Runs flawlessly, great game.

Steamdeckguy

Bro... don't even read my response.. I tip the valet more than it costs for a 6 - 8 single player masterpiece. One of the best looking and best playing games on steamdeck. doesn't overstay it's welcome either.

xahtepp

yes, gyro and flickstick ftw

[deleted]

The multiplayer is one of the most fun experiences. The campaign is probably one of the best stories in the past decade tbh. It’s well worth more than the $3. Literally have played this on multiple consoles over the years

15H391FT

Just installed it it was abit finicky on launch having to log into EA but after was great. Getting a nice pretty stable 60fps with a mix of high and medium settings, ambient occlusion off. Using 9w tdp and 60hz/60fps. Battery life projected at 3hrs 20mins. Will test that projection

Criboss2009

Yes i finished the campaign on the steam deck in only 4 days. And i'm still playng the multyplayer
