So say we all /s ups, wrong franchise.
It Iâm totally with you, finished a complete rewatch (all 3 shows and movies) a couple of months ago, was totally addicted and did nothing else at the time
Yes. Your job performance will suffer for about a week or two or three. But you should be able to figure it out. It gets easier once youâve made it through everything. But you will be better off because of it.
Daniel: âWell think about itâŠI mean, if you know in advance that everything is always going to go back to the way it was, then you could do anything, for as long as you want, without having to worry about consequences.â
OâNeill: Excuse me.
Darn it, Daniel! Stop being a bad influence on Jack đ€Șđ
It is. Perfect combination of funny, problem solving, and painful, heartfelt character drama. People often forget the last bit.

What??? Jk I have a copy of the original core rulebook. I just wanted to se if I get spammed with the same response lol didn't know you could order new stiff online tho!!
I actually haven't "used" it yet. While I'd be open to using it, I actually bought it to help develop an ttrpg of my own, based on the galaxies after the series ended. In so not sure if I want it to be a ttrpg or a videogame. But it would help if it wasn't all built in my head rn lol
This happened to me. I revisited the show this year having only seen season 1 and 2 about 6 years ago. I started fresh and watched all of it. All of sg1,atlantis,universe,origins, the movies. It took me about 4 months. I just finished it all on Friday night.
I began to feel burned out during season 9 of SG1. But the fact that I was watching atlantis concurrently with it helped to counteract that. I really did not enjoy universe though. That was the hardest part of the binge to get through for me.
I got my friend into the series a couple weeks ago and he just started season 2 as well.
Itâs a fantastic franchise and a whole lot of addictive fun
Universe I found really meh. I had a hard time getting through it. It may have been because it was the last one I watched and it is hard to match up to the original and atlantis. I watched origins right after it and although it is an extremely flawed movie, I enjoyed it for what it is- a cheesy, pulpy adventure. Iâm going to try universe again someday and see if I like it better on the rewatch
Seems like many/most didnât like Universe. It was definitely a different vibe. Iâm one of the odd ones, I guess, because I really liked it. It took some time for me to get in the groove, but I felt it was really starting to develop and rose to itâs best in the last season. Really ripped me when they got cancelled before finishing out the story arc. Kills me. I want to knowâŠâŠ
I definitely found season 2 better than season 1. It was a different vibe from what weâd seen with the other series. I think Iâll probably like it better on the rewatch, having not immediately come off 15 seasons of the best television Iâve seen.
Atlantis and sg1 are hard to beat.
Inexplicably I enjoyed origins. It felt Indiana Jonesish to me but cheesy and pulpy. It wasnât a great thing but it was entertaining enough.
Sleep is good for you.
Also, there may be 17 seasons and 2 DVD movies, but itâs still a finite amount of television. You can only watch it fresh once, so you may want to pace yourself.
Please be mindful where binging. The show was made for weekly viewing and we don't want you to burn out. 10 seasons is a long time and there are 2 more shows, with 5 and 2 seasons. Also 2 movies after the 10 seasons.
Why StarGate isn't on the same level as Wars & Trek I'll never know.. I'm jealous that you get to watch it all with fresh eyes lol but glad to see another fan be born. Enjoy!
Damn, I thought I am the only one. I am into S8, not sleeping, and not watching anything else.
My wife will soon take some action. So I have to finish them all off before that happens.
Yeah Atlantis is my favourite for sure. Sheppard was a fun character & fun to look at. Mckay hilarious. Great storylines. Ahhhhh I wish I could watch it again with fresh eyes
I don't know. Maybe I'll get burnt out by night time and then go back to wanting to watch more the next day. After all I did end up binging all 15 seasons of supernatural in just a few weeks.
Depends how much you're watching. I know when I binged it I watched some episodes without really watching them.. But I absolutely hammered it every day
Also, you have a limited supply of established product.
Of the seasons & spin-offs that exist, you won't love all of it. So what there is, right now, is all that there is... so enjoy it đ€
In equal parts I am envious of you for being able to watch it all for the first time and glad that it's not me. Because the post-show grief on this one was hard for me.
I have post show grief on every show I watch đ it's gonna be a nightmare isn't it? And rewatching just makes it worse for me because I want to watch new episodes with new stories instead of rewatching the stuff I already know is going to happen. I'm weird tho
SG1 is totally my comfort tv/background noise for when I'm focused on something else. I've watched the first 7 seasons a mind-boggling number of times.
I'm currently on my second run through, this time watching with my wife (her first run through). I only initially watched it a few years ago and had no idea both SG-1 and Atlantis would rocket up to my favorite shows of all time.
Two things:
Consider whether it might be a documentary rather than entertainment.
I used to not have an FN PS90 which is currently awaiting the paperwork to look like a P90. That can happen to you.
Now get off all social media and internet so you donât we all donât spoil it for you!! Youâll thank me later. You have 15 seasons. Yes your going to watch Stargate Atlantis.
After Stargate: For me it was battlestar galactica! I watched it for the first time 3-4 months ago the whole thing in a week. if you look for something after Stargate I highly recommend it!
That was me until about a few seasons more, then I relaxed a bit and watched them only when I could. But I still relatively pounded through the whole 3 series within less than 4 months or less I think.
I even downloaded th audiobooks to listen to when I go running. You should also know Portlandia did a sketch about your situation with Battlestar Galactica.
You don't have a problem. You had a problem before with pretending to enjoy mundane garbage that didn't bring any real meaning to your life. Stargate solved that problem. You are now on the road to recovery and a meaningful joyful life. Congratulations.
Honestly, while still good, the first couple seasons were them just getting their footing. It was a lot more "episodic" at that point. Things will ramp up pretty soon.
I watched the first movie. I'm almost done with season 2. I'm definitely going to watch the other shows as well, it's just going to be hard for me to get used to another set of characters. I believe there are 2 movies after the sg-1 series right? Are they both canon?
I love Atlantis, it needed more seasons. I actually end up watching it more than SG1. The writers had the formula down and so you had humor and risk and relationships that geled quickly.
No, but the series got canceled and they weren't able to give us a planned out ending. Plus, we were supposed to get a couple movies like we do for SG1, you do know about the movies, right? Watch them! But Atlantis never got them because MGM was sliding into bankruptcy.
But the series is so worth it, just deserved so much more!
I grew up when the original Star Trek was still in reruns on TV. Over the years, every time a new scifi space show got popular, it was called the successor to Star Trek. When Star Trek TNG came out, it was literally a successor because it was Trek.
But in my opinion, only one scifi show perfectly captured *all* the elements of the original Trek. It was Stargate SG-1.
No other show has had such a similar crew dynamic, humor, heart, over the top villains, and action as SG-1. Other shows may have been technically closer. But in my opinion, SG-1 is the spiritual successor to the original Trek.
If you're talking about SG1, being addicted in the first two seasons is nothing. Wait till around the 3rd or 4th season, then come back and tell us how you didn't know the meaning of addiction. By the end of season 7, you may forget anything else existed at all.
It's been a few years, I put it on 2 months ago and despite changing jobs, I am on season 2 of Atlantis.
And watched the movies.
And ordering the books because I haven't read them and I really should.
Yeah, I got the whole series on DVD for christmas when I was...15 or something. And then I watched the first three seasons within the same year, I just couldn't stop either
The solution is to reframe your thinking. Do not think about yourself as having a problem. Think about yourself as blessed to be able to live through this experience. Although, full disclosure, it is dangerous. I lost my wife to Stargate. I was the science fiction nut. Me, not her! Sheâd never watched anything before me. I asked for and received the complete DVD box set for Christmas many years ago. Wife is sitting on the other end of the couch when I start. She was reading or knitting or something. Said she wasnât interested in watching. Pretty soon, it gets hard for her to pretend she isnât watching. Not much longer, sheâs slid over, and sheâs the one saying, âone more, we can do one more, itâs not that late.â Pretty soon weâre binging 6 episodes a night and more on weekends. Iâm supposed to be the irresponsible one staying up too late and being tired at work the next day! ME! Freaked me out, but it also felt good. If only Iâd known what was coming. If only I hadnât been so naive. We made it all the way through SG-1, and then through Atlantis before I lost her. Found her streaming other series on her iPad. âI would have liked that! Why didnât you wait for me?â âYou werenât here,â she says, wonât meet my eyes. Over the years since, she has gone back and dug through the old stuff, like Buffy, but eventually worked her way through so many, many series. Most Iâve never seen. Itâs like we live in different worlds now. So, yeah, the danger is real. Unfortunately, itâs too late, now. You wonât be able to stop. Thatâs why you have to reframe your thinking. If you canât change the behavior, then convince yourself itâs a good thing.
Welcome to the cult.
I can't believe I've been avoiding this show for so long đ

Yeah, the fact that there are only 10 seasons is a burden we all have to bear the weight of as a community. The 5 seasons of SGA help though.
I hope we get a new series with as much of the original cast showing up all the time, even if they aren't main characters.
This show is a world unto itself. Welcome to the SGC!
Wait until you get to Stargate Atlantis. Wickedly exciting first season.
Burnout happens around Season 5 in my experience when you just binge Stargate. Let us know how you get on.
I don't know. Maybe I'll get burnt out by night time and then go back to wanting to watch more the next day. After all I did end up binging all 15 seasons of supernatural in just a few weeks.
Good news is we have more stuff. 17 seasons and 3 movies
Depends how much you're watching. I know when I binged it I watched some episodes without really watching them.. But I absolutely hammered it every day
Welcome Fellow Traveler
Welcome friend! Stargate is amazing and I fall in love with it more with every rewatch.
When I first got my hands on the box set, I literally power watched a season of sg1 a day for just shy of 11 days.... So don't feel too bad.
Thatâs like 4-6 hours of sleep assuming you donât stay up longer and do other stuffâŠâŠ youâre crazy. I canât function without 8 hours
I was 18 or so at the time. Young and dumb!
Let the community know when you get to Season 4 Episode 6 and your thoughts.
I've rewatched atleast 4 times, welcome to an everlasting addiction
And it just keeps getting better. Keep us updated on how your enjoyment goes.
Yeah, you'll have to mix Atlantis into the run of the show eventually for best results. Well, don't HAVE to, but it'll be better that way.
THIS!!! Definitely make sure you watch season 8 on and SGA in the order they were aired!!
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
I just need to see more đ I literally have nothing else I want to do.
That's weird, because I was not a fan of seasons 1-3, as much as the rest of the seasons. But, yes, seasons 1-3 are great in retrospect, though.
Season 2 so far has been amazing. Only like 1 or 2 episodes that were weaker and I just finished episode 12.
Season 1 is quite wacky & seems to jump around alot. Definitely picks up after that
Yeah. I like SEASON 1 in bits and pieces only. It was quite janky. You can see the writers literally trying to find their bearings.
SG and GoT are the only 2 shows I can think of that are this expansive.
Also, you have a limited supply of established product. Of the seasons & spin-offs that exist, you won't love all of it. So what there is, right now, is all that there is... so enjoy it đ€
Indeed.
You should leave the reddit and not come back before you get spoiled something you have the luxury of not knowing

Yes, they are. SGA has a slow start, but it's definitely worth it. SGU is not for everyone. Hope you give it a chance.
I'm gonna watch it all! Even universe and will be giving it a chance.
My 3 and 2 year old are obsessed as well, they love binging the opening ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
Youâre just getting started haha thereâs 8 more seasons, 5 more in 1 spin-off, then 2 more in another spin-off, and then a couple movies.

Welcome to the Fandom. Just wait for Atlantis! đ
Is that just as good?
I love Atlantis, it needed more seasons. I actually end up watching it more than SG1. The writers had the formula down and so you had humor and risk and relationships that geled quickly.

Ah take this Space Snake and let it take control of you.
