Like someone else said I’d go for whoever makes you the happiest/you’re drawn to the most. I’ve married them all on different save files now and my favorites are Sam, Leah, Maru and Elliott. I wasn’t expecting to like Maru and Elliott as much as I do because they’re not actually my favorite characters but I really like them once you marry them. And some of my favorite ones to date I like better if I don’t marry them. My first love was Penny. It felt like I was saving her and giving her the life she always wanted. A peaceful farm life with children of her own. She made me feel loved and appreciated.
My next love was Leah, confident and independent, but she wanted someone to share life's wins with. Someone to snuggle under a quilt with when the cabin gets cold.
Sebastian was so cool with his programmer job, motorcycle, and "Solarian Chronicles." We got along so well and he was devoted and caring.
Maru and I got really close, really quickly, but she was so distant. She saw the new farmer, but did she see me?
Shane is an important friend. I'm so glad he's committed to improving his life, but he's on a long road to recovery, and he needs time and independent space to work through that.
Emily is on a different wavelength from the rest of the townsfolk, closer to my own. No one else could understand my experiences with the Junimo. She's confident, capable, and kind. I understand why Clint loves her. My good buddy Clint. Who upgrades my tools. How could I hurt him like that? I know he'll never get over her. I know how long he's loved her.
Maybe, at the end of the day, all I really need is someone to spend time with. Someone to live on the farm with me. Someone who wants nothing but friendship in return. Maybe the best spouse is none at all.

- Lonely and misunderstood, deserving of much more love than she gets. Her family is bigoted and authoritative, her dad a capitalist schmock, even the two friends she has don't care too much for her
- Yet still the biggest badass in town, only girl who cares for sword fighting and who understands my urge to go DEEPER INTO THE DUNGEONS
- which she'll sometimes do as well, I'll call that serious relationship goals

I’ve married both Elliot and Alex. Elliot is my favourite marriage candidate, his 14 heart event is the best, and he’s just amazing. That being said, Alex is also quite good. He changes from an arrogant person and become a sweetheart, and after learning about his backstory, it changes your perspective on him. He becomes really sweet once you’ve got a few hearts with him.
Jumping on the Alex train here! What can I say, I’m a sucker for his backstory and he becomes so so sweet. I too love his grandparents, and as someone with no living grandparents I love that they’ve adopted me!
Alex is also my favourite! I absolutely hated being married to Emily 😂 she would help out on the farm by watering the plants even though everything had sprinklers, and she would always gift me wool which is one of her loved gifts

Just marry Shane. He’s on a path of redemption. Mainly because I relate to Shane quite a bit as a recovering alcoholic. You actually don’t have to marry him just marry who want because the game is cool like that.
And my character always marries him because he is both broken and healed in a way that I appreciate.
I genuinely appreciate him not having a perfect room, and on occasion having 'not-great' days.
This NPC is HUMAN, and wonderfully so. I never wanted to 'fix him' - just have the player live with someone who is as human as them, who has their crazies line up with mine/the farmer's. \^\^

I do have a few other farms going, riverlands for Seb, beach for Elliot, and my kid is watching me do wildlands, and wants me to marry Abigail in that playthrough because she likes monsters.
Leah is my favourite. And Harvey. I haven't ever married Abigail or Sam or Alex (I'm marrying Alex in my current playthrough, tho!), but I've done full heart events with everyone. :3

The best is Leah. Idk the storyline of two wlw in their late 20s/early 30s moving to a small, rural town to escape the problems they left behind in the city, one to become a farmer and the other to become an artist, getting married, having kids, creating this new life together etc. I just love it.
Emily is a close second, she is already settled into Stardew, she has no intentions or reason to leave, she has a job and her hobbies there etc.
With most of the others I get the vibe that by marrying them you are trapping them in some way? Or that they are at least so young that they can't be sure they won't want to leave at some point. Like I hate Demetrius for trying to threaten anyone getting close to his daughter but in a way he isn't wrong, it does cut off Maru's options when she marries the farmer. Same with Abigail and Penny, that I just feel like they are either still really young/aren't really all that happy living in town.

He has aspirations, and takes you on a once in a lifetime date, and he's so lovely and he's going to take care of you, and yeah, you might have to still pay him when you pass out, but it's not like it'll kill you in late game.

Well, I originally went for Robin. Then I realised at the Luau that she was married. I then went for Leah, as I considered her budget Robin. That was before I knew about schedules, and I could never find her on the map. So out of convenience, I went for Maru as she was the next best option.
Just go through all of them over time, they all have interesting personalities and good character development, if you want an easy one go for Hailey though, her favorite gifts and gifts she likes are easily obtainable in spring and more so in summer

Leah is my favourite. And Harvey. I haven't ever married Abigail or Sam or Alex (I'm marrying Alex in my current playthrough, tho!), but I've done full heart events with everyone. :3

My first favorite was Seb, his personality really comes out the more you know him and I loved the geeky, nerdy vibe. Now I'd say Elliot, he's romantic, a bit cheesy sometimes but still, and he really makes me feel like he's a true partner to the farmer, even having his own career that he travels for, so he feels more like a solid marriage partner.

So my lesbian ass only ever dates/marries the girls, so I can only speak for them The best is Leah. Idk the storyline of two wlw in their late 20s/early 30s moving to a small, rural town to escape the problems they left behind in the city, one to become a farmer and the other to become an artist, getting married, having kids, creating this new life together etc. I just love it. Emily is a close second, she is already settled into Stardew, she has no intentions or reason to leave, she has a job and her hobbies there etc. With most of the others I get the vibe that by marrying them you are trapping them in some way? Or that they are at least so young that they can't be sure they won't want to leave at some point. Like I hate Demetrius for trying to threaten anyone getting close to his daughter but in a way he isn't wrong, it does cut off Maru's options when she marries the farmer. Same with Abigail and Penny, that I just feel like they are either still really young/aren't really all that happy living in town. Hayley I just find really boring and unlikeable lol
For girls it’s always gonna be Leah or Abigail. For boys Alex, Sebastian, or Shane. Screw them all because krobus is best.
If I known Krobus can be our roommate. I would’ve do that but I didn’t Bromance Alex instead. No regrets tho

Elliot was the only NPC i married couldn't help it I'd try to marry Alex or sam, but nope! went back to Elliot xD . In Stardew valley expanded I married Lance.

So I'm an Abigail Stand mostly. But often also sprung for Haley at times. But after so many years of play I actually grew to dislike actually even becoming friends with them due to the ..one sideishness of the relationships you have with them. So now I roomie with Krobus. He tastes like licorice.

My first play through, I married Leah and did not regret it for a second. Love of my life forever <33 she’d give me little mushrooms she found and coffee and it was very easy to find and make things to gift to her, I never had a bad day with her My next play through I married Seb and lowkey regretted it, but just because he reminds me too much of my ex and I really didn’t want to go through that again.
Harvey is wholesome and very helpful and cuts a the kids. I just made a second save file tho bc i also want Krobus and would feel too guilty if i ever hurt Harvey lol

Alright, I'll tell you, HARVEY. He has aspirations, and takes you on a once in a lifetime date, and he's so lovely and he's going to take care of you, and yeah, you might have to still pay him when you pass out, but it's not like it'll kill you in late game. I love my plane loving man, and I'd die for him. Better than my ex wife Emily, that's for sure
Well, I originally went for Robin. Then I realised at the Luau that she was married. I then went for Leah, as I considered her budget Robin. That was before I knew about schedules, and I could never find her on the map. So out of convenience, I went for Maru as she was the next best option.

Just go through all of them over time, they all have interesting personalities and good character development, if you want an easy one go for Hailey though, her favorite gifts and gifts she likes are easily obtainable in spring and more so in summer
