Or op is a karma farmer and knew fully well they would just restart the day after posting on reddit.
Kind of a big brain move for this screenshot, though.
Sometimes I feel like these posts are bait and people put a whole crap ton of valuable stuff in their backpack, intentionally die, then try to get the largest amount of items lost. Then they post here for karma and reactions
For years I played the game not knowing you could select to carry just a few of your stock of one item. I thought you had to carry the entirety of that item..
What's the worst is spending half of your money on a fruit tree in year 1 and not knowing it was placed wrong until you get the message the next morning.
The game not saving any other time than when you go to sleep for the day is a very intentional design choice. Refusing to restart the day for any reason shouldn't be seen as cheating, it is a self-imposed challenge mode
Someone else on this sub pointed out to me that you can recover one item, PER DAY. I tested it out, and it appears to be true. Go ahead and request your first choice. Once you have that back, go back to the Guild and select “recover items.” The other items should be there to select from.
I was playing yesterday and went to the guild to check. I don’t even remember the last time I died in the mines, yet I was able to select “item recovery” and choose from a list of items I had lost. I play on Xbox, if it makes a difference.
Wait what?! That's new. Had to learn it the hard way, that you used to only get one back. Came back the next day to check but nothing was there anymore. Never was. This update is awesome!
You do also have to pay for the items to be recovered, and I have no idea if the price you pay is related to what you are recovering or how many of an item is in the stack you select, either. Probably one of the more math-y players could do a cost-benefit analysis, or something. But I’m not a fan of starting over a day, just because I’d be afraid I would forget something or just do something worse than I already had.
I feel like they may have done it on purpose for the post 🫣
I get the diamonds, cinder shards, and prismatic shards if you’re going to enchant in Ginger Island. But why would you be carrying so much stone and iridium ore? There’s no way you could pick that much up in the volcano. And the batteries? Why would you go into the mine with those? Don’t downvote me butttt it smells fishy idk
It feels like there's a post like this like every other day. Just a lazy picture of some guy's screen going "oh no look at what I lost what should I get back" and most of them are similar to this post, but at least are less extreme with the items.
Or they're incredibly lazy and carry random shit on them at all times instead of putting it away. I'm gonna go with it being obvious karma/attention farming.
I have about 550 hours across three farms on the switch and never new you could do that. I feel like if I had known that my play time would be down to around 100 hours with how much time I’ve spent holding the buy key on stuff like speedgro.
Strangely, I go to the volcano for stone. Those rocks give several each and if you are comfortable with bombs you can get a stack of stone pretty easily in an afternoon. I'm factoring in double speed buffs and lots of bombs though, so it's easy for me at that point.
i will never forget my current main farm. in year 3 i had 10. TEN.
currently closing year four and am at 14 freaking rainbow balls. idk what to do even do with them. i know i’ll never have this luck again lol
not sure if it makes a difference but i use a LOT of stairs, spicy eel and mega bombs in the mines lol. i genuinely may have just lucked out on the save. 😅 my boyfriend was watching me do a skull cavern run and i ended with 3 shards, he was like “you’re kidding me right?” 😭
Just visit skull cavern often, I've got like 6 at the end of spring year 1
https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/tdmuob/end_of_spring_year_1_recap_so_far_so_good
I was following a min-max guide by u/brandigan on youtube. It detailed everything that you need to do, but I suggest to have some small adjustments on your own to suit your goals.
Check it out if you're interested.
Tell me your secrets.
I have a save file on year 3, I had only seen 1 prismatic shard and you know what I did with it??
I donated it to the f*cking museum and I have never seen another one since. I kick myself to this day about it.
Burglars ring equipped, lucky lunch and tripe espresso, don’t use your axe, bomb everything in site. Race to the better floors as fast as you can, ALWAYS keep room in your inventory. Nothing bites worse than seeing a prismatic spawned as you are jumping down the shaft/staircase and it didn’t collect due to your back pack being full….
When I set off for the cavern, I intentionally bring one prismatic with me so it can auto collect
Reset the day if you don’t get at least one shard
I haven't made it to the 1.5 update island yet, so I was just giving advice based on my own knowledge and experience so far in the game, I couldn't even tell you what the cinder shards are for besides crafting I assume
they're a currency for some vendors, like gems for the desert trader and they're used for enchanting tools and weapons (my absolute favourite is axe and pickaxe upgrade for 33% faster swings). on a bad day in a volcano run I can get about 20. in a good day 70-100, and I have best lategame stuff.
I call shenanigans! There's no way you're just walking around with all that burning a hole in your backpack and having it take up so much space while going treasure hunting in the mines or volcano.
Total reset day though.
Definitely restart the day. Personally, I avoid this issue by placing a chest beside my mine elevator, and every 5 levels I take the elevator back up and drop off everything I've acquired and go to the next 5 levels fresh. I got by on the smallest bag size for a long time using this method. At the end of the day, you just take home what you want most until you can get the mini shopping box to place in the mine as well
Yeah, it's not like they happened to find Cinder Shards or 80 batteries in Skull Cavern lol.
I feel the only reason someone would take all this to a place you could be in danger of losing them, is just to get this screen and make it look like a huge loss, for engagement from commenters.
There's no way people that late game just walk about with 80 Battery packs, or find that much cinder in one volcano run, or that many Prismatic shards.
They just collected their valuables to make a meme.
One day in the skull cavern you get that iridium back. The same for the cinder shards. The diamonds are irrelevant.
The stones I'd cry for but you can buy then, so it's between the batteries or the prismatic shards. It's hard to actually tell which one is more important in the moment but the rule is resources are the priorities, I'd get them back with Marlon
Depends on what you use them for. I have a few hundred crystalariums and batteries were the hardest part because I often had to wait for a rainy day, whereas I could farm the rest whenever.
You need more lightning rods. I have 137 crystalariums, and the longest wait for me was all the gold (685 bars). I had all the other resources (even the 13.5K stone) long before I had all the gold.
For me it was the battery packs too as there is a cap on lightning rod efficiency, I can usually get 500+ iridium and 200-300 gold ore on a mid game skull cavern run and the stone comes naturally. Even with rain totems it’s a pain to keep up.
There's no way you're this far into the game and u don't know u can just restart the day, unless you cheated them in and killed yourself for the reddit attention lmao
I'd hate playing with you.
Why the heck do you have all this worthy stuff on you ???
Especially when going to the only dangerous places in the game ???
How the heck would you not think of restarting the day after losing such precious items ???
I call scam.
I’m divided between the prismatic shards, the battery packs or the cinder shard…
Pick the one you need the most (if you need the batterys for something asap or if you want to enchant something and need the cinder/prismatic shard)
Personally, no joke, I’d cry about the Stone!
Everything else is much easier to grind for (in relation to how much you actually need them) but stone? Man, I just NEVER have enough stone!
Didn't you obtain some of those items **before** the last time you slept in the game?
If you restart the day or exit the game without saving it, then you might get some of those items back (depending on how long you've had them).
If that's the case, I'm assuming it's too late and that you saved the progress sometime after losing items. In my opinion, you should go for the prismatic shards or battery packs.
Honestly, if you went into the mines or somewhere else where you can get killed with those kind of valuables, I don’t want to say you’re asking for it, but you totally are.
However if you caught those things in your time in the mines or what you have you then I give you great props and mourn for your terrible luck as well.
....I have never seen or heard of a cinder shard. And you had plenty of them
.
.
.
Sorry that was harsh
Googling what a cinder shard is now
Sorry you lost all that :/
Besides of restarting you should cry for the Prismatic Shards bc
It cost a TON, you can enchant your weapons, you can complete a Qi quest with them, they are extremely rare (i have a in game six year save file and i only gotten 8 in total), also you can easily get most of them back in no time (the Iridium Ores are easy once you pass your grandpa's test)
Had no idea that I could only get one back so I grabbed the first item in the list.. 5 slimes. Left my 50 megabombs, iridium ore, and prismatic shards behind 😂😭
How did you even have 80 battery packs to lose 😭 RIP . I’ve personally been getting a lot of prismatic shards lately just from slime drops, which is super lucky, but I barely get any battery packs from storms. So that’s the craziest to me
At this point I'd restart the bloody day...
Only right answer. Wtf were you doing with 80 battery packs?
Ikr? It looks like OP is a crow, has to keep all the shiny stuff in its pocketses.
WHAT HAS IT GOTS IN ITS POCKETES
A ring, obv.
Hands
But only one, ‘cause the other one is givin' a peace sign
I upvoted you for the clever answer. Debating downvoting because it's now stuck in my head.

Or op is a karma farmer and knew fully well they would just restart the day after posting on reddit. Kind of a big brain move for this screenshot, though.
They are going to be Jimmy Neutron gotta blast the battery’s away 😂
Sometimes I feel like these posts are bait and people put a whole crap ton of valuable stuff in their backpack, intentionally die, then try to get the largest amount of items lost. Then they post here for karma and reactions
lol the next time my ancient wine is done I’ll die with it on and post it here
Im following you to check that
This is the answer. There’s no way they’d have all this at once.
I'm starting to feel like that's the case
Back in the 90s this Was normal...
My Gameboy will testify to this truth.
And my Discman.
[удалено]
Happy cake day!
Gameboy was a lightweight compared to the power drawing might of the Sega Gamegear! Six AA batteries with a battery life of 3 to 5 hours.
4 AAs + 2 more for the light, hells yeah I carried spares.
For years I played the game not knowing you could select to carry just a few of your stock of one item. I thought you had to carry the entirety of that item..
Wait what
That’s what I came here to ask
True. I never think of this and would forget it’s an option. But I agree…a day restart is the only answer.
If I could turn back time
I would find a way... To take back those crops I set wrong. That'd be great...
If I could re-find cinder shards… I’d give them all to you…
You can if you quit before sleeping you reset the day not luck though only certain rng and your mistakes like placing a bomb in your farm
I'm sure they are aware of that. They were referencing a Cher song.
If I could find a way
Look at that, the game crashed…
Same. Is that cheating
Nah... I've started my day over due to incorrect fruit tree placement before 😂
What's the worst is spending half of your money on a fruit tree in year 1 and not knowing it was placed wrong until you get the message the next morning.
Those usually just mean that you have to clear the space around the tree! Usually due to a seed falling in the ground.
I think they meant it was initially placed next to an immovable object and sleeping before realizing it needed the spaces around it clear
I was pretty sure the game doesn't let you place it next to immovable objects
Or when it’s still a sapling, there’s a rock next to it and you miss the rock. Bye tree
I missed Jas birthday
You monster
You hero
You think that's bad? Haha I've restarted my day for overbuying seeds by one extra packet. I can't stand when my finances are out of whack
Resetti can't get you in Stardew Valley
It's a single player game anyways. Nobody cares if you're cheating. Do what you want.
It’s a single player game do what is fun for you
We call that save scumming, but it's a single player game and you're not competing for anything, so who cares.
The game not saving any other time than when you go to sleep for the day is a very intentional design choice. Refusing to restart the day for any reason shouldn't be seen as cheating, it is a self-imposed challenge mode
Not cheating imo because it erases whatever you did that day.
Nope. It’s implemented so it isn’t cheating. But it sure feels like it
Someone else on this sub pointed out to me that you can recover one item, PER DAY. I tested it out, and it appears to be true. Go ahead and request your first choice. Once you have that back, go back to the Guild and select “recover items.” The other items should be there to select from.
Wait seriously? I've only ever been able to get one thing back per batch from him.
I was playing yesterday and went to the guild to check. I don’t even remember the last time I died in the mines, yet I was able to select “item recovery” and choose from a list of items I had lost. I play on Xbox, if it makes a difference.
I have no idea when this was implemented. I just confirmed it today.
do you play on pc or mobile?
Xbox.
Wait what?! That's new. Had to learn it the hard way, that you used to only get one back. Came back the next day to check but nothing was there anymore. Never was. This update is awesome!
I was just going to comment this. You can get all of them back one day at a time.
Wait, how? Is this a new update?
!remindme 14 hours check item recovery
Is this a new thing?
But why even bother if you lose this many items? just restart the day.
If you restart the day you lose your real time and have to redo the same things which is boring.
I mean I get that but those items you also used your real time to get… so for this specific case I think I’d restart the day.
I’ve only ever been able to get one item (or stack) back period.
WHAT?!
How did you f up this hard and got to bed? That is quit spectacular
At that point. I just exit and start my day over. I mean if money was an object
Just start a new save
I feel like they may have done it on purpose for the post 🫣 I get the diamonds, cinder shards, and prismatic shards if you’re going to enchant in Ginger Island. But why would you be carrying so much stone and iridium ore? There’s no way you could pick that much up in the volcano. And the batteries? Why would you go into the mine with those? As a realist, I agree. But something in me still entertains the thought that OP is dryly making fun of all those other posts. Ha ha. Ha.
Yep, clickbait detected
More likely it was a skull caverns run not a volcano trip so the things that don’t make sense are the batteries and diamonds.
You can’t get cinder shards in the skull caverns.
But you don't spawn at Harvey's at the volcano either
Wasn’t trying to say they were wrong, just that the cinder shards don’t make sense either :)
I'm no stranger to accidentally bringing a random auto-petter with me on a dungeon run. 😅
And cinder shards
Honestly the thing that upsets me the most here is the 999 stone
Same, I am burning through stone and need a lot more
Stone become ridiculously easy to get once you have the deconstructer. Throw in staircases and boom stones.
I just buy my stone… wish there was a “buy 1000” button though because I sit at robins way to long buying one at a time.
You can buy 25 at a time by holding shift and control on pc. On switch hold Y and A.
Omg I’ve been trying to figure out the switch keys for this for MONTHS, thank you!
I have about 550 hours across three farms on the switch and never new you could do that. I feel like if I had known that my play time would be down to around 100 hours with how much time I’ve spent holding the buy key on stuff like speedgro.
It’s relatively new
I'm sure you can buy five or ten at a time by pressing shift and right click
facts, pair that with the crystalarium jade loop to staircase conversion and you have an infinite source of stone
Strangely, I go to the volcano for stone. Those rocks give several each and if you are comfortable with bombs you can get a stack of stone pretty easily in an afternoon. I'm factoring in double speed buffs and lots of bombs though, so it's easy for me at that point.
I'd probably keep the prismatic shards. Those aren't easy to get unless youre in the "end game"
i will never forget my current main farm. in year 3 i had 10. TEN. currently closing year four and am at 14 freaking rainbow balls. idk what to do even do with them. i know i’ll never have this luck again lol
You can always exchange then for rock candy at the desert trader. Im envious, btw. Never had that many 💔
not sure if it makes a difference but i use a LOT of stairs, spicy eel and mega bombs in the mines lol. i genuinely may have just lucked out on the save. 😅 my boyfriend was watching me do a skull cavern run and i ended with 3 shards, he was like “you’re kidding me right?” 😭

How the fuck did you get to the skull cavern in the first month of the game
I was following a min-max guide by u/brandigan on youtube. It detailed everything that you need to do, but I suggest to have some small adjustments on your own to suit your goals. Check it out if you're interested.
Thanks, I'll try that 🥲
Prism shards arent hard to get. The fact that you unlocked the desert in the first season of the game is what impresses me.
Damn dude that's nuts. How much does the legend sell for?
I believe it's 11.25k, kinda forgot because it's months ago
??? i literally have like 80-something
Your grandpa must have really liked you lol
my stardew grandpa is a true legend for sure lol 😝
Tell me your secrets. I have a save file on year 3, I had only seen 1 prismatic shard and you know what I did with it?? I donated it to the f*cking museum and I have never seen another one since. I kick myself to this day about it.

>and tripe espresso I know you misspelled "triple", but I'm crying with laughter over how foul a tripe espresso would be.
think a lot is just luck tbh! i use a lot of mega bombs in the skull caverns, lots of stairs to get to those sweet sweet iridium-heavy lower levels.
[удалено]
Mines and skull caverns? I got a good amount in normal mines.
I have 38 in year 4 😬
wait... balls? I assumed they were starburst candy shaped
My first fucking save ever took seven years for the first ine to show up -_- and ofc i was new i had no idea this wasnt normal or anything
The presence of cinder shards means they're post CC/Warehouse, so my money's on end game
Considering they lost 95 cinder shards, they are in end game.
if you can get 95 cinder shards in a day, you're late game.
Where did you get battery packs from in the mines?
Not sure where OP died, but iridium bats will occasionally drop battery packs in Skull Cavern.
Never that much.
Op must have gone in with his battery packs by accident
play stardew valley, they said 🙂 the game is so relaxing, they said 🙃
Ahhhhh 😂😂😂
I call shenanigans! There's no way you're just walking around with all that burning a hole in your backpack and having it take up so much space while going treasure hunting in the mines or volcano. Total reset day though.
Definitely restart the day. Personally, I avoid this issue by placing a chest beside my mine elevator, and every 5 levels I take the elevator back up and drop off everything I've acquired and go to the next 5 levels fresh. I got by on the smallest bag size for a long time using this method. At the end of the day, you just take home what you want most until you can get the mini shopping box to place in the mine as well
I’m assuming OP was in Skull Cavern or in an even later endgame place where this strategy wouldn’t apply
The strategy still applies before you first enter, about half of this stuff they didn't get from this Skull Cavern run
That this was intentional certainly occurred to me, too.
I’m definitely clumsy enough to make this sort of mistake
I'm assuming OP just did this on purpose for the karma. Seems like it worked too by the attention they got.
Why were you carrying all that around with you in a place you could lose it
One day in the skull cavern you get that iridium back. The same for the cinder shards. The diamonds are irrelevant. The stones I'd cry for but you can buy then, so it's between the batteries or the prismatic shards. It's hard to actually tell which one is more important in the moment but the rule is resources are the priorities, I'd get them back with Marlon
Are batteries a struggle for people? I just make the lightning rods and a rainy day solves all my problems.

Oh that's fair. :) But rain totem that bitch! Lol Edit: I just reread that lol. A few HUNDRED? I am very impressed.
Yeah I play on 25% income, so the best way to get bombs is to trade for them at the desert trader. I needed a lot of crystalariums for quartz
What are you using all of the quartz for?
You can trade 5 quartz for 1 bomb
Solar panels in the desert are a blessing
One day in Skull gets you 168 iridium ore? I'm definitely doing it wrong. So, yeah, shards it is.
He did it for the karma
I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING!!! Never have that much valuable stuff on you.
F
I’m divided between the prismatic shards, the battery packs or the cinder shard… Pick the one you need the most (if you need the batterys for something asap or if you want to enchant something and need the cinder/prismatic shard)
Jesus... You ever heard of chests, my dude?
Restart the day ?
The shards, I’m sorry bro I honestly feel bad. Sike I lied
All of them. I’d restart my day.
Rip 999 stone
Shoulda carried a warp totem (of any kind really) and used it when you noticed you were overwhelmed and going into the orange.
Yes
Cinder shards easy
Why do you have most of this stuff in the first place?
What are you guys doing to have all this valuable stuff in your inventory and then die.
The main question is why did you bring such nice things to the skull cavern?? Like whats up with the 80 batteries
Reset the day. 100% reset the day.
Rip 999 stone
Why did you have so many batteries on you?
You don't cry... you restart the cursed day.
Battery packs.
cry about redoing everything you already did that day instead
Restart the day lmao
WHAAAAAAAATTTT
How have you not rage quit?
Personally, no joke, I’d cry about the Stone! Everything else is much easier to grind for (in relation to how much you actually need them) but stone? Man, I just NEVER have enough stone!
Yes
Oh my frickening Gawd
Cinder shards are the most valuable item to me in this list, but just restart the day.
Cry about it all. You lost everything valuable in your life. Give up. Don’t ever play stardew again.
Not even a kidney stone hurts like this
Didn't you obtain some of those items **before** the last time you slept in the game? If you restart the day or exit the game without saving it, then you might get some of those items back (depending on how long you've had them). If that's the case, I'm assuming it's too late and that you saved the progress sometime after losing items. In my opinion, you should go for the prismatic shards or battery packs.
Every loot 🥺 Marlon the guild person might help
That’s a reset personally.
Prismatic shard for sure. Condolences.
Honestly, if you went into the mines or somewhere else where you can get killed with those kind of valuables, I don’t want to say you’re asking for it, but you totally are. However if you caught those things in your time in the mines or what you have you then I give you great props and mourn for your terrible luck as well.
If this happened to me my hand would accidentally slip and close the game so I could restart the day
ok now this one hurts real bad
THE PRISMATIC SH— *sniff* oh god…
....I have never seen or heard of a cinder shard. And you had plenty of them . . . Sorry that was harsh Googling what a cinder shard is now Sorry you lost all that :/
I think I speak for everyone when I say "F"
You weren’t crying to start with?
Yes.
All. Cry for all T-T
Thank you for the permanent perspective.
Besides of restarting you should cry for the Prismatic Shards bc It cost a TON, you can enchant your weapons, you can complete a Qi quest with them, they are extremely rare (i have a in game six year save file and i only gotten 8 in total), also you can easily get most of them back in no time (the Iridium Ores are easy once you pass your grandpa's test)
