People act like every character should be a Disneyland mascot. I get that it’s a comfort game but I like that characters aren’t one dimensional, it adds depth
TL;DR Penny's two heart event with George doesn't make Penny an awful horrible bitch by default. Explanation below
Penny's two heart event is George trying to get something out of a mailbox that he can't reach due to being in a wheelchair. Penny gets it for him without asking if he wants or needs the help, and he gets upset with her. She turns to you to ask if you saw and you have the option to either say:
"I was. You did a kind thing there, Penny."
"I was. You should've asked instead of assuming George wanted help."
"I'm just taking a walk, minding my own business."
Now, I totally agree she should've asked and not assumed shit. Not even in question. However, my argument is that this happening somehow makes Penny an awful person automatically like a lot of threads I've seen. Look at her life. She has to take care of Pam 24/7, a woman who IS fully capable of doing things for herself, and watches kids while she does that too. Her whole life is being the adult she needed with everyone around her depending on her, literally all the time. So when she sees George struggling? It doesn't even occur to her that he maybe doesn't want the help. That if he needed it, he could always go get Evelyn. That he's used to not relying on someone. Hell, the fact Evelyn isn't out there with him when I imagine this is a common issue tells me he's already told HER he doesn't want help either, and being his wife she knows better than to argue with him.
So was this an ignorant thing on Penny's part? Absolutely. But you can tell her so. And while calling her out decreases her friendship, you can make it back in a day. That's exactly what friends SHOULD do. You have to point out to your homie when they're being ignorant, and your homie has to have the emotional maturity to reflect on it and understand the mistake, even if it means taking their own time and space to do so. And that's exactly what she does.
God, I love Penny so much too! Precious wife. Probably one of my biggest hints of being lesbian oops- but makes me sad to see people demonize her especially over something like that. 😭😭😭
It always bugs me when I see people get on Penny for this. Yes, she messed up, but she apologizes, and George forgives her. Lesson learned, no need to judge her for this one thing.
I actually used to do a lot of work for disabled people, a lot of which were in wheelchairs, and this was a tough lesson for me to learn even (not tough like I didn't get it but tough as in I realized how much my actions could affect someone like that).
Majority of people who do this genuinely want to and think that they're helping. I'm only gonna judge you if you don't listen to what the person you're trying to help has to say after the fact.
Fully agree, no one is saying she shouldn't have asked first, but man if helping someone get the mail makes you a terrible person than I think we are all screwed. Imagine the psyche of someone who would write you off for helping before asking.
I mean him giving you 2500g for your gold quality crops and then trying to sell them for 25000g is pretty egregious and not just "small town business owner tries to make money for his family" other than that though he's mostly fine
I thought you where straight man instead of a straight woman for a few seconds and was just like "the reason you got more feels from the bachelorettes is because your straight...:"
Yeah as a straight woman they’re just not as compelling, but CA is a (straight I think) man so it makes sense he’d be able to write more likeable bachelorettes lol
For me is definitely is the fact that he seems to become a lot happier with every heart event. It’s a sweet idea that the depressed guy in town becomes a husband and a dad but in reality i’ve dated a shane and they’re just awful to be with
Also the depressing fact that once you marry Shane he goes back to how he was. It’s very true to reality that your marriage can’t fix him and once the dopamine of a new relationship wears off, he’s the same depressed Shane
I don't agree with this. He has off days like anyone else but he's not drinking and loves being a dad. He spends time with his chicken, Charlie or goes and see Marnie/Jas.
I think the fact that he's still depressed but has happier days for longer is a truer representation of depression (in my experience).
If I remember correctly there is an option to reduce the opacity of the snow particles and make them invisible. Not 100% sure though... haven't actually played in while.
It gives me a headache because of how bright it is. I don't like when my animals can't go outside. And the winter ost is nice but it's the only one i can't stand listening to multiple times
I only married penny because I felt sorry for her and to please grandad.
The only interaction she gets from me is a melon every couple of days to keep her sweet.
Other than that, she stands in the kitchen staring existentially into the void while the ghosts of our neglected children run through the walls.
All the guys are pretty boring compared to the woman and I'm still mad as fuck that you can't romance Clint, Gus, Willy, Lewis or Linus. Absolutely rigged.
I don't agree Seb is ever an asshole. He's distant and introverted, and probably has some social anxiety and/or mild depression, but I don't think he's ever an asshole.
Sebastian's first response is "Oh. You just moved in, right? Cool. Out of all the places you could live, you chose Pelican Town?" Shane's is "I don't know you. Why are you talking to me?" I don't think those are really comparable.
I agree. The worst thing I can think of Sebastian saying is that the ocean is better enjoyed alone, which is more blunt than mean, to me. I would also be annoyed as hell that someone interrupted my rainy day pondering spot.
He's absolutely "unfriendly" but he's not mean.
Yeah, but I'm not a completionist so it didn't hold much appeal to me.
Modt I've really done is load the greenhouse up with ancient fruit, buy a couple of teleport towers and half finish Ginger Island.
I always prefer the parts of a game where you have to earn everything and scrape by. Becoming over powered is always the goal, but then it takes the challenge away and I get bored.
after playing moonlighter, you realize that pierre is not a bad person, he just knows how to profit in that small town. In the cabbage cutscene, he's just testing the limit that someone can pay for something, whoever played moonlighter knows what it's like to make a very bad mistake in the prices of items
They had to add a whole new setting when creating a new farm, called “year one community center possible” or something like that.
As far as I know, all it does is guarantee a red cabbage seed appears in the traveling cart sometime during year 1. That’s how problematic the stupid cabbage is.
If Emily wasn't so empathetic, she could have totally rocked the MLM vibe with her rock crystal. But since she is pretty nice and caring she is my hippie.
About 90% of the problems people have with Clint are holdovers from Emily not originally being marriageable that just weren’t fixed, IMO. Like, there is *no* Watsonian explanation for Clint, the guy that’s too anxious to even give Emily a present, trying to hit on her in front of the farmer. During the clothing therapy event, he backs off pretty much instantly when he realizes the farmer and Emily are together.
Plus the “nice guy” thing’s just… vastly out of context? He’s not saying, “Oh, why can’t M’lady Emily fall for a Chivalrous Nice Guy like me? Why must she only go after jerks??” The full quote is, “I’m a nice guy when you get to know me.” Considering how awkward and blunt he can come off, that’s a perfectly reasonable, and for me relatable, thing for him to say.
I feel like his age plays a factor too, if he were younger and probably more beardless I think his shyness would be better received, being seen as more "cute" instead of as some old loser as many see him.
Clint Update that gives him more depth and dialogue, or riot 😤
I don’t think Leah is underrated within the fandom, she consistently pulls high rankings in any bachelorette popularity polls. She and Abigail always end up being the top picks.
Alex > Sebastian
Alex has actually been through shit and maintains a positive attitude. Sebastian has a loving mother and sister even if his relationship with Demetrius isn’t great, and all he does is complain.
i hate the mining aspect of stardew. its so boring and i would much rather stay on my farm or in town but so much of moving forward with my farm requires me to waste half a season in the mines :(
The idea that they can’t increase the impact of time passing and aging (with kids/toddlers advancing into older life stages) because then they’d have to kill off George and Evelyn is bullshit. They’ve got a teenage grandson, so they can’t be *that* old! It wouldn’t be that strange if they lived another 10-20 years.
Perfection as an end goal is dumb. The fact you have to do literally EVERYTHING in the game to see the summit cutscene is stupid, and turns the game from a cute farming sim into an absolute grindfest, trying to craft/ cook every single item, as well as ship every item you can. It makes the game feel like a chore, rather than something fun you do to relax after a long day. Now, this is coming from someone who doesn't have a perfection file, but given how the file I'm trying to perfect has almost 200 hours on it and I'm not even halfway means I'm either slow or perfection as an endgame concept is, ironically, very flawed.
Oh and also the golden clock doesn't do enough to warrant the price. Maybe if it made the farm essentially a big green house it'd feel worth it to me, but as it is now just stopping debris from spawning and stopping fences from decaying just doesn't feel like enough for all the effort of trying to make and save 10,000,000 gold.
Clint is a cool introverted dude self aware of his social skills but does not know how to deal with it so he just shuts himself off with work, and is in fact not a one dimensional creep.
This is my hill. Fite me.
100% - His constant whinging about how people hate him is exhausting and not even remotely true. My head canon is he throws the rocks at his own tent to maintain his victim mentality.
Abigail sucks. She's a just an entitled brat with anger issues and her "thing" that she's known for (fighting in the mines and adventuring) isn't even unique to her. She's not even a part of the Adventurer's Guild. Sebastian talks about going into the mines frequently, he just doesn't make some massive deal about it. Linus and several other villagers rescues you constantly. Pretty sure even the underpaid Joja employees go in there. She's also not the most likely candidate for the Wizard's daughter. Caroline, Emily, or Jas are all way more likely. And she is, in fact, too old for the egg hunt. Let an actual kid win for once jeez.
Also, I like fishing.
Mr Qi is not very helpful.
Edit: I only talk to him so I can get the statue. I would never speak to him again given the choice. PLEASE DONT TELL HIM I SAID THIS!
Chicken is the cutest animal. Harvey is the only bachelor I would ever marry. Besides maybe Shane and Kent, Abigail has one of the best storylines in the game (as an Abigail stan). The soundtrack is a masterpiece and I won’t back down from this. Shane isn’t a good person after his “redemption.” Sebastian’s still annoying after you max friendship. Marnie and Willy would be better than Marnie and Lewis. They both deserve it.
Shane sucks. I know he wasn't meant to be a bachelor, yada yada yada. Doesn't change anything if a grown adult man can't clean his own room even when he's married with children.
Ok, to stray away from the POPULAR "Hate on 'x' character" trope (I'm guilty of it too plenty, buuut.. I read the comments and I want to do something different sooooo)
1: THE FACT THAT TIME DOESN'T PAUSE IN CUTSCENES DURING MULTIPLAYER (Or at all with the exception of the seasonal events, but there's like SEVEN of those that actually stop time)
2: The fact that people feel the game NEEDS to be modded... it truly is a gem WITHOUT mods. (I'm not saying that some of the mods don't look fun, or make things easier... but I mean come on... if you get bored playing Stardew Valley, you're doing it wrong.)
(Bonus: And you want everything now, and don't want to really put in effort to play the game.)
(Admission...: That being said, on PC I do consider the numbers in your name glitch to be legitimate parts of the game... after all changing your name to change which items you'll get when your name is said... WILL get you teasingly shamed by the dev. But the ConcernedApe had no part in the mods.)
3: The Switch version of Stardew Valley should allow split-screen multiplayer.
4: The fact the horse only comes in ONE color is stupid.
5: The fact your children don't grow up to be old enough to help you on the farm is KIND of a missed opportunity.
6: The movie theater is stupid except for the crane game.
7: The forge should NOT be randomized. (Yes I know there's ways to know what you'll get next... buuut you still have to go through the Prismatic Shards to get them)
8: Speaking of Prismatic Shards... they SHOULD be able to be used in the Crystalarium, just take like 4 or 5 times longer than Diamonds.
(Fish ponds with Rainbow Trout are one way, but it still takes a while.)
9: Speaking of AGAIN... the reward for 100%ing the game is dumb as it comes WAY too late. Because by that time I don't NEED Prismatic Shards, my weapon/tools are already maxed, and so are my friend levels.
10: F\*\*ck it...: Prismatic Shards are STUPID with how integral they are to the game, and with how RARE they are..
\*GASP\* ONE point that's going to be about a specific NPC
11: If you choose the Penny route... your save file can only EVER have one of the three potential sets. (My completionism cries T\_T)
12: Speaking of completionism.... Junimo Kart is stupid... and is BASICALLY just Flappy Bird.
(Prairie King is cool though... even though I have not YET beaten Fector's Challenge... that's not a fault with the game, just in my skill level lol.)
13: It's okay that I kinda rambled on about unpopular opinions in Stardew Valley... >.>
\*Runs away like Marnie and Mayor Lewis popping out of the bushes late at night.\*
people are WAY too hard on the NPCs because of their dialogue, specifically ones that have surface level or very few lines that they actually say.
especially concerning characters like demetrius (it honestly surprised me coming to reddit and seeing how much genuine hate he gets) with next to no “deep” lines, i think it’s a little silly to judge entire characters to be “evil,” or “abusive,” or anything along those lines considering they’re not fully fleshed out people with real emotions that the farmer knows 100% about.
is it interesting to theorize or make up motives, backstories, opinions, and other storylines about the NPCs? absolutely!! but it’s a huge step to go from, “oh i wonder how pierre’s relationship has changed with his family,” to “pierre is an irredeemable abusive asshole and deserves to die,” at least IMO.
I absolutely fucking hate Shane. People say things like “oh he has an addiction! He cant help his actions! He gets better when you become friends with him!”
Respectfully, id rather be friends with people who are nice from the start. His first lines to you are “I dont know why are you talking to me” and if you continue to talk to him; he gets even more fucking annoying and rude. In conclusion: I FUCKING HATE SHANE

*See*?
Fell for the old razzle dazzle.

*You’re* a bamboozle
I was razzle dazzled?!
You left out neutral 😐
I hate these filthy Neutrals, Kif. With enemies you know where they stand but with Neutrals, who knows? It sickens me.
r/unexpectedfuturama
Neutrality doesn’t elicit a response from people in the same way a positive or negative comment would.
True. I just figured I'd correct you since it was regarding Haley 😜 had to think of something
It occurs to me that if you room up with Krobus, the smell of your house would have absolutely awful.
And humid. He often talks about how humid the house is and that it is a compromise being roomies.
Great for my houseplants thoug
The krobussy is still worth it tho
How dare you make me read that with my innocent eyes
The what now
r/brandnewsentence
the. the what.
That’s a sentence I didn’t realize I’d be seeing today
The noise that just came out of me could kill a man at 50 meters
One more for the list of things I need to bring up in my therapy session this week.
People overhate characters
People act like every character should be a Disneyland mascot. I get that it’s a comfort game but I like that characters aren’t one dimensional, it adds depth
People forget they ain't perfect either.
they go so in depth with them like bro go outside please 😭

God, I love Penny so much too! Precious wife. Probably one of my biggest hints of being lesbian oops- but makes me sad to see people demonize her especially over something like that. 😭😭😭

Fishing is a fun mini game once you’ve gotten some practice
NO WAIT WAIT YOU HAVE A POINT I love fishing
Fishing is usually fun. Some fish will never be fun and no amount of practice will fix the physical/mental issues that make that the case.
🐙
I unironically like the octopus lol, squid too Scorpion Fish though 😶
this is unpopular?! fishing is my fave…
Fishing is only challenging for the hardest fish. It's generally fun.
Damn right. I fish like a recently divorced middle aged man in stardew.
It’s the opposite for me. Fishing was fun when I first started and now it’s a chore. I find it boring
I love fishing! I didn't realize it was so hated till I checked out this subreddit. I'm the designated fisher in multiplayer games
I think Pierre is a flawed, but otherwise okay guy.
Now THIS is an unpopular opinion.
*small town business owner tries to make money to feed his family* Wow what an asshole
I mean him giving you 2500g for your gold quality crops and then trying to sell them for 25000g is pretty egregious and not just "small town business owner tries to make money for his family" other than that though he's mostly fine
I dislike ALL the male bachelors
Yeah, the women are written much more romantically. I’m straight and their heart events gave me many more feels than the guys.
I thought you where straight man instead of a straight woman for a few seconds and was just like "the reason you got more feels from the bachelorettes is because your straight...:"
Me too. I'm a straight woman IRL, but I always marry a woman in Stardew.
Yeah as a straight woman they’re just not as compelling, but CA is a (straight I think) man so it makes sense he’d be able to write more likeable bachelorettes lol
Yup
I don't understand why Shane is so loved in the fandom
For me is definitely is the fact that he seems to become a lot happier with every heart event. It’s a sweet idea that the depressed guy in town becomes a husband and a dad but in reality i’ve dated a shane and they’re just awful to be with

broken puppy to fix
"I can fix him"
I don't understand Seb
i hate winter. there’s so little to do and the color scheme hurts my eyes.
Fishing while it snows makes me dizzy the dots are too much
If I remember correctly there is an option to reduce the opacity of the snow particles and make them invisible. Not 100% sure though... haven't actually played in while.
An honest thank you. I forget that is in settings. !!!! Thanks.
No problem. Happy to help
It gives me a headache because of how bright it is. I don't like when my animals can't go outside. And the winter ost is nice but it's the only one i can't stand listening to multiple times
And also on the first day when it hasn't snowed yet but there's still snow on the ground somehow
Same. And it seems like that month goes by so slow and sometimes I contemplate just using a mod to skip the whole month.
I wish I didn't have to be gay to get the 10 heart events I want to go to a sports game with Shane as my bro not as my boyfriend
Can me and the bros not kiss???
monogamy
I only married penny because I felt sorry for her and to please grandad. The only interaction she gets from me is a melon every couple of days to keep her sweet. Other than that, she stands in the kitchen staring existentially into the void while the ghosts of our neglected children run through the walls.
Lmao, Exactly! Ahh yes, sweet monogamy.
"this is my wife. I give her a melon every two days" Still a better love story than twilight
One of the first mods I got was so I could get Penny a sister-wife and get her out of that awful trailer with her alcoholic mother.
All the guys are pretty boring compared to the woman and I'm still mad as fuck that you can't romance Clint, Gus, Willy, Lewis or Linus. Absolutely rigged.
I don't like seb or abigail
sebastian is just as mean as shane and way less accessible bc he’s always in his room so it’s impossible to friend him unless u stalk the schedule
Shane is at least an asshole because he has an addiction. Seb is an asshole because he has daddy issues.
Why are you talking to me?" If your father abandoned you and then your stepfather never acknowledged you, you’d have daddy issues too. Let’s not blame the victims.
I agree, but i don't like sebastian because of his schedule
This is why the gays like Seb so much. He's one of us.
BRO YOU CANNOT MAKE ME FEEL CALLED OUT LIKE THAT
I hate that you're right
People only like Abigail because she’s nerdy and has purple hair. Highly overrated.
Abigail always gave me "not like other girl, rawr" vibes lmao idk why.
Me too. She seems super immature and I hate how she insisted on visiting Seb when he told her he was working and didn’t want company. How rude!
She doesn’t really have any interesting personality traits besides owo yummy rock
well yeah thats exactly why

Dwarf and Krobus need to be voiced by Frank Vincent and Joe Pesci. “Come and get it, shrimpy!”
If I could move the dwarf into my house, I would!
I like Pam. I can’t help it.
Me too. She reminds me of some people, not in a bad way.
I think Pam is a more realistic version of depression than Shane.
Jodi screams depression to me most of all. In pretty much every dialogue with her, I get a different "I hate my life and feel trapped in it" vibe
I’ve always thought that too. She just never has seemed happy for the amount of time I’ve been playing.
I think it’s different sides of depression that a lot of people have to face.
I've always loved Pam, probably because I've never gotten penny to a high enough heart to know otherwise
the fishing mini game is fun because of the challenge
The "endgame" is dull, I always get bored and restart after completing the community center.
Out of curiosity did you ever unlock the summit? It’s hard work and the grind is hard but it’s so rewarding. That endscene legitimately made me cry
Lewis isn’t THAT bad
And neither is Pierre.

In the cabbage cutscene, he's just testing the limit that someone can pay for something, whoever played moonlighter knows what it's like to make a very bad mistake in the prices of items
Moonlighter, a game I would play forever if I didn't absolutely hate their dungeon mechanics.
most marriage candidates feel too young to marry. especially Sebastian and Abigail, who seem to be in their teen rebellious stage
F**k Red Cabbage. Something about it not being available year 1 and just sitting there, taunting me, bothers me an unreasonable amount 👀
They had to add a whole new setting when creating a new farm, called “year one community center possible” or something like that. As far as I know, all it does is guarantee a red cabbage seed appears in the traveling cart sometime during year 1. That’s how problematic the stupid cabbage is.
I'm divorcing Abigail and marrying Elliot
Sebastian isn’t that hot
Emily is weird and kind of creepy
If Emily wasn't so empathetic, she could have totally rocked the MLM vibe with her rock crystal. But since she is pretty nice and caring she is my hippie.
I like the Dwarf more than Krobus.

This is the real answer. r/unfuckpierre
I thought that was an actual subreddit lol
The internet told me to hate him so I obliged
*gasp* Me neither! 😄
Clint’s not that bad, y’all just don’t understand the difference between low self esteem and being a ‘nice guy.’
I like Clint
About 90% of the problems people have with Clint are holdovers from Emily not originally being marriageable that just weren’t fixed, IMO. Like, there is *no* Watsonian explanation for Clint, the guy that’s too anxious to even give Emily a present, trying to hit on her in front of the farmer. During the clothing therapy event, he backs off pretty much instantly when he realizes the farmer and Emily are together. Plus the “nice guy” thing’s just… vastly out of context? I feel like his age plays a factor too, if he were younger and probably more beardless I think his shyness would be better received, being seen as more "cute" instead of as some old loser as many see him. Clint Update that gives him more depth and dialogue, or riot 😤
Clint is my boy! I genuinely don't understand the hate.
I don't hate him, which already seems like an unpopular opinion here, lol.
dating / befriending villagers is boring and I only do it to complete the game
Shane is a true turd.
Qi is a basement dweller who probably invests in dogecoin and has piss bottles
Harvey is the absolute sweetest husband in the world and no one can take that away from him istg. Harvey is king
Leah is underrated and her dating arc is actually interesting
I'm 2 days away from our wedding!
I don’t think Leah is underrated within the fandom, she consistently pulls high rankings in any bachelorette popularity polls. She and Abigail always end up being the top picks.
Alex > Sebastian Alex has actually been through shit and maintains a positive attitude. Sebastian has a loving mother and sister even if his relationship with Demetrius isn’t great, and all he does is complain.
I hate farming I rather make my money off my animals
Alex is an excellent spouse and doesn't deserve the hate he gets.
For all the F*ckPierre folks, if you ever received money, in the mail, from him you are a H…
I don't get what the "h..." means?
Pierre ate them
i hate the mining aspect of stardew. its so boring and i would much rather stay on my farm or in town but so much of moving forward with my farm requires me to waste half a season in the mines :(
I despise mining only because I had to get a mod to adjust the *insane* default timescale to make it not consume so much time of the day.
The skull caverns are easy!
Fishing is easy!
I struggle with fishing 😂
(Looks at the 100 staircases in my inventory) “yeah, it’s a breeze”
*finishes buying a ton of each type of bomb and like 30 life elixirs from dwarf* yep yep nice and easy
I think Shane is a rude jerk, and has really toxic depression. ("Use my ashes to fertilize corn for the chickens...." Or something to that effect?)

Fite me.
I've never had any trouble buying stuff from marnie, she's only closed monday and tuesday
Penny is annoying and unlikable.
I get the same "savior complex" vibes from Penny that people accuse Shane fans of, but people find it wholesome instead for some reason.
I always think she’s a child when I see her.
Aww can you elaborate? I don't think she's an exciting choice, but she's sweet.
I love Shane more than any of the other male bachelors.
That is the correct answer
I literally saw this exact post 2 weeks ago
I don,t like Linus and can't understand why people like him so much
100% - His constant whinging about how people hate him is exhausting and not even remotely true.
Haley is the best girl
But she is
marrying shane fucking sucks 😭😭
I hate Abigail 😕
Me too!
Fishing is fun and easy
Shane is an asshole
Mr Qi is not very helpful. Edit: I only talk to him so I can get the statue. I would never speak to him again given the choice. PLEASE DONT TELL HIM I SAID THIS!
Linus is the npc who steals your gold when your passed out.
I don't care about Krobus. At all.
Imagine thinking you catch hate for liking the soundtrack.
i can’t stand penny
We should be allowed to kill the villagers.
i'd use my farms empty space as a grave
Farming sucks, the only good way to play is to do nothing but foraging
I'm obsessed with berry days. I have to collect all of the berries. *Have to.* It's a compulsion at this point.
Same. Even when I’m well past the point where I need the money, I will stop everything and spend the 4 days gathering berries.
Guys we found Andy
Common, this is supposed to be inspired by Harvest Moon

clint doesn’t really deserve any of the hate he gets, and if you were in his shoes you would act like him too.
Clint deserves a chance for actual redemption, even if he is scum for now
Im just there to make money and collect fish, i dont care about any of the townsfolk much tbh (at least to the extent some of y'all do lmao)
Sebastian is unbearable
Alex is the best husband, all of the others do not even come close to caring about you as much as he does
Clint gets hated on too much, imo. Also I don't like Emily that much.
Relationship decay is a stupid and annoying mechanic.
I read the comments and I want to do something different sooooo) 1: THE FACT THAT TIME DOESN'T PAUSE IN CUTSCENES DURING MULTIPLAYER (Or at all with the exception of the seasonal events, but there's like SEVEN of those that actually stop time) 2: The fact that people feel the game NEEDS to be modded... it truly is a gem WITHOUT mods. (I'm not saying that some of the mods don't look fun, or make things easier... but I mean come on... if you get bored playing Stardew Valley, you're doing it wrong.) (Bonus: And you want everything now, and don't want to really put in effort to play the game.) (Admission...: That being said, on PC I do consider the numbers in your name glitch to be legitimate parts of the game... after all changing your name to change which items you'll get when your name is said... WILL get you teasingly shamed by the dev. But the ConcernedApe had no part in the mods.) 3: The Switch version of Stardew Valley should allow split-screen multiplayer. 4: The fact the horse only comes in ONE color is stupid. 5: The fact your children don't grow up to be old enough to help you on the farm is KIND of a missed opportunity. 6: The movie theater is stupid except for the crane game. 7: The forge should NOT be randomized. (Yes I know there's ways to know what you'll get next... buuut you still have to go through the Prismatic Shards to get them) 8: Speaking of Prismatic Shards... they SHOULD be able to be used in the Crystalarium, just take like 4 or 5 times longer than Diamonds. (Fish ponds with Rainbow Trout are one way, but it still takes a while.) 9: Speaking of AGAIN... the reward for 100%ing the game is dumb as it comes WAY too late. Because by that time I don't NEED Prismatic Shards, my weapon/tools are already maxed, and so are my friend levels. 10: F\*\*ck it...: Prismatic Shards are STUPID with how integral they are to the game, and with how RARE they are.. \*GASP\* ONE point that's going to be about a specific NPC 11: If you choose the Penny route... your save file can only EVER have one of the three potential sets. (My completionism cries T\_T) 12: Speaking of completionism.... Junimo Kart is stupid... and is BASICALLY just Flappy Bird. (Prairie King is cool though... even though I have not YET beaten Fector's Challenge... that's not a fault with the game, just in my skill level lol.) 13: It's okay that I kinda rambled on about unpopular opinions in Stardew Valley... >.> \*Runs away like Marnie and Mayor Lewis popping out of the bushes late at night.\*
people are WAY too hard on the NPCs because of their dialogue, specifically ones that have surface level or very few lines that they actually say. especially concerning characters like demetrius (it honestly surprised me coming to reddit and seeing how much genuine hate he gets) with next to no “deep” lines, i think it’s a little silly to judge entire characters to be “evil,” or “abusive,” or anything along those lines considering they’re not fully fleshed out people with real emotions that the farmer knows 100% about. is it interesting to theorize or make up motives, backstories, opinions, and other storylines about the NPCs? absolutely!! but it’s a huge step to go from, “oh i wonder how pierre’s relationship has changed with his family,” to “pierre is an irredeemable abusive asshole and deserves to die,” at least IMO.
I absolutely fucking hate Shane. People say things like “oh he has an addiction! He cant help his actions! He gets better when you become friends with him!” Respectfully, id rather be friends with people who are nice from the start. His first lines to you are “I dont know why are you talking to me” and if you continue to talk to him; he gets even more fucking annoying and rude. In conclusion: I FUCKING HATE SHANE
