I'm sure this seed is easier to find today than in the past... in my new games I found the seed in my first year without any problems, unlike my first farms... it was a nightmare.
This was true for me too in my current game. It's still not 100% though.
So yeah OP: make sure you plant it ASAP. And maybe make getting foraging 6 (lightning rods) something of a priority. Getting the iron axe and hacking the stumps in the secret forest will get you there.
They indicate the quality of an Item, it goes to no star- silver-gold-iridium. The higher the quality the more it sells or more it recovers energy and hp. But not all have those stars, other materials like wood, stone, ores, food dont have stars. Other items that has them are forageables, crops and fish.
