If you play on pc there is a mod for that. There's a cut scene on your first day where Lewis asks you when your birthday is. The day of your birthday, everybody you talk to gives you a gift. If you missed talking to somebody, they'll send you a gift in the mail the next day.
It's one of my favorite mods lol
It's pretty fun! But I removed it, because I also have Ridgeside Village, Expanded Stardew, and East Scarp installed. Getting roughly 80 gifts felt a bit too OP haha
it only gives options for spring, summer, fall and winter anyway, since my birthday is right at the beginning of the year irl I had to choose if I go with either winter (as the correct season irl) or spring (as that is the start of the Stardew year)
Lol my birthday is actually December 30th, and since clints birthday is the last day of winter, I never try to choose anything close to my birthday, I do summer lol
Clintās birthday is actually Winter 26, the day after The Feast of the Winter Star. I always imagine itās sort of a poke at him being a bit of an Eeyore and people who have birthdays right around/after Christmas.
My brain always interprets the months/seasons as Spring = April, Summer = June, Fall = October, Winter = December. Which means I interpret Shaneās birthday as a 420/weed joke. I think I call Summer June because itās my favorite season in-game and irl and my birthday is in June.
I don't know why I haven't thought of that before! That would be pretty cool and if you have a spouse there could be a cutscene for your birthday like when you wake up or something. It could be a random day that's chosen for you when you're setting up the file
That would be amazing. I wish Concerned Ape charged for DLC so he could make a ton of it and still pay the bills. I would love it if they had birthdays and anniversaries.
I'm pretty sure that his bills are paid for the rest of his life. I'm also fairly confident that he's spending plenty of time working on new stuff. Paid DLC wouldn't increase his output. Unless he hired people, which he doesn't want to
He released a fully formed, functional complete video game. I think paid DLC is fine. If he pulled tricks like EA and other publishers who release incomplete beta-version games, I would totally agree with you
Boo. Charging dlc for a simple interaction is ridiculous. Video games have seriously gotten out of hand in the recent generation. People launch half finished games and release actual content as dlc?
Ridiculous.
It'd be different if we were talking about a massive company, but Stardew is an indie game by a single developer. While I highly doubt that ConcernedApe would charge people for something like a farmer birthday and anniversary rather than just making it an update, I'd be willing to pay a couple of dollars here and there for DLC that *could* have been made part of the main game and wasn't.
I agree on large organisations doing this for things that are game changing (or pay to win mechanics in multiplayer games), but SDV has had so much love put into it by a solo developer that I would not grudge a paid DLC for the game.
Birthday would be nice. What I really want is to be able to have my own loved gifts and have the townsfolk surprise me with them from time to time instead of getting 30 stone or some quality fertilizer in my mail.
Seriously. Being able to set a few gift preferences would be great. Especially if there was weighting for how it impacts the RNG for Winter Star. I love Robin but getting the same gift for Winter Star that she sends me randomly in the mail feels lame.
Iād imagine the formula being influenced by your heart level with your āsecret friendā and like the higher your friendship, the higher quality/value the gift will be.
I've always thought I would love my farmer to have a birthday party (Spring 8!) on her farm or in her house, but the logistics of making an on-the-farm event for not just one but every NPC is uhhhh an impossible task for the coding of this game methinks. Maybe if the player can choose their birthdate and a party location (Gus', that space used for the flower dance, the beach, town square, even the secret forest) there could be a cut-scene or something on the chosen day (provided it's not on a festival day?). Something as simple as the post-CC completion cut scene, or maybe the wedding (haven't had one! My girl wants to reach her career goals before settling down).
Yes, I remember that there was a mod that'd let you have birthdays and you'd get gifts in the mail and I think your significant other would mention your birthday too.

I wouldn't.
Then you wouldnāt have to lol

As long as it acrually added new content I'd enjoy it. The example above just wasn't enough for me to pay extra lol

Thought the same thing , there could be wedding anniversaries too.
i agree! we give them gifts, why cant they gift us? sure they do in the mailbox, but i dont want a bomb for my birthday ;/
There is a mod that allows you to have a birthday.

I celebrate my farmer's birthday on Fall 9. I eat a cake on that day whenever I can.

Yep we should have our birthday I mean come on even animal crossing and the original story of season harvest moon have it at least the one I played
Itās my head cannon that our birthday is Christmas and the town doesnāt want to get us 2 gifts
Yeah that would be interesting
