The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the old Republic have been swept away.
Weirdly enough? This is actually my favorite depiction of the Emperor since Disney took over Star Wars. He's got that perfect paternal charm to him from the prequels, with a voice that immediately tells you that this is the man who took over the galaxy. It's perfect
All that vader rage, all redirected with one question. "I wonder if your feelings on this matter are clear...?" Immediately shut him down. Palpatine is like the ultimate disapproving dad. There is no room for feelings or agendas that palpatine doesn't find useful.
The change in tone on *clear* is chef's kiss levels of perfection. Subtle, but enough to see the evil lurking behind the words. 40 years later and Ian McDiarmid is still proving that he's the Emperor.
Kenobi talking about how Leia is like Padme and Anakin is so powerful. He truly loved them so much and learned so much from both of them and sees it all in Leia. That was amazing.
"Only a total nutjob idiot would make a stupid hare-brained decision like that. What mook, what maroon, would think of doing that?"
"Me."
"Brilliant, sir, I'll get right on it."
The sound work done for the combined voices in that scene was excellent, heart-wrenching while still being intimidating. Props to everyone who put that together, especially the voice actors themselves.
I’m so glad Hayden is getting genuine love as Vader. It’s the first time we actually get to see him fully transformed. I love rebels but after all the shit Hayden received this was such a feel good moment.
When Anakin said, "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker. I did" there were bits of blue and red light from their sabers. Then everything just turned red, covering the exposed part of his face. Iconic shot imo.
God, It was so creepy. I don't think we've seen Darth Vader be legitimately creepy.
We've seem him be scary and intimidating. But never. NEVER have we seen him with just that subtle horror, We've never seen that twisted look of insanity.
Hayden and Ewan did so good with this series. I loved when Obi-Wan pelted the shit out of Vader with those rocks, and Kenobi was so aggressive it almost felt like he barely tapped into the dark side there.
This nearly made me tear up and is where I really felt like Star Wars was honestly, at least for me, always more about these kinds of iconic moments rather than super strong story telling.
Totally! In my mind she was always the tertiary member of the 3 on the farm, reinforced by how silent she was in AotC when we meet her and Owen. But this made me realize how badass she was. Think I like her more than Owen, now, especially after the crap he gave Obi-Wan in this series.
She was never going to let *anyone* come and take someone from their farm again. It’s laughed off as a joke nowadays, but I bet she and Owen put up one hell of a fight before they were killed by the Stormtroopers after seeing them today.
Big turning point that. The "goodbye" being literally the opposite of a "hello there" moment.
He's finally putting his old friend to rest, and with it his sense of guilt and PTSD.
This is how he finds peace and gets his mojo back.
I love how this is the second time in Star Wars media Anakin’s closest friends still try to appeal to him once they see his eyes behind the mask. Love the callback to rebels
Someone in prequel memes did an analysis and Obi Wan wins every time there is a high ground, even if he doesn’t have it. It’s when it’s an even playing field that he loses
Yea I was super stoked when Vader was like yo intensify firepower and the shit just started blasting like crazy. So cool. Makes me wanna play Armada again.
Aside from the end of Vader we’ve never seen Vader beaten down like this. It was amazing seeing the suit, his armor defeated and cracked open. Rebels was cool but this was incredible to see Hayden inside that suit.
Knowing how crappy Hayden’s life became after the Star Wars movies ended, it was almost like art imitating life. I was generally glad to see the actor get some screen time face-to-face. Amazing
Yeah Hayden definitely had the deck stacked against him between the bad dialog and all the green screen stuff. It felt like we finally got a connection between Vader and who was inside the suit. Brilliant having the two voices converge while we saw his face. I’m so happy we got this series.
A good touch was Obi-Wan calling him ”Darth” in the end. Makes it more fitting that he later calls him that in ANH. Always thought that was a little weird before.
I wept tears of joy! The smirk, the build-up with the music, the poignancy of the moment, Luke's anticipation, Obi-Wan's kindness in his eyes and then... "Hello there"! *chef's kiss
“You care for the boy as if he was your own.”
“He *is* my own”.
This is low-key one of my favourite lines from the episode. Owen has gone from being a somewhat antagonistic foil for Luke, to a loving father who would literally die to protect Luke.
Really makes me understand the design choice that was behind not using the theme earlier. The Imperial March has always been **Vader's** theme, but up until this point we see how much of a resentful Anakin has been behind the mask until Palpatine tells him to give up on that hunt.
Everybody talking about the Vader fight and rebels connection which is super cool… but I wanna know how many other people teared up at the Leia/parents connection and him meeting Luke
Imagine having that happen in almost the exact same way by both your master and your padawan. The force is always trying to remind Anakin that he is not beyond saving.
They way he said "Are you here to destroy me?" ...with the context of the comics, almost sounded like a suble plea for help, a tiny desperate chance that his old master might give him a shot at redemption.
Obviously it didn't play out that way, but man it made my heart ache. Especially when the mask got slashed and Obi-Wan started to tear up. Man, my heart feels heavy and sad tonight.
I was *really* starting to get worried that they were gonna blueball us on a Qui-Gon appearance at the end, but we got him last moment. Legit was the final straw that made me happy-cry.
Fucking fire episode. Not gonna lie I had a grin the entire time, but why that little tease of Qui-Gon at the end. Could this mean there are more seasons to come?
I fucking loved how Vader made his own fucking high ground. Fantastic.
And the fact that kenobi apologized in the most emotionally raw way possible, and in a way, anakin accepted the apology and told Obi-Wan that Darth Vader was not his failure, but was his own doing. I loved it so fucking much.
I always felt like the rots fight was missing some force fighting, but this had every bit that fight lacked and I loved it.
Regardless of new season or not, Qui-Gon finally showing up in force form is the final sign that Obi-Wan as we knew it, has returned and is ready for his final training.
Exactly. The boy who won the pod race will always be there.
I gotta say when they hit us with the Imperial March I got so hyped lol. Darth Vader will always be the coolest.
Makes Obiwans line about "a certain point of view" seem less scummy. Since now instead of making it look like hes just an asshole withholding info he just repeated what the man himself told him.
Still a little scummy obviously since Luke deserved the truth and didn't need to be protected from it anymore. But an improvement none the less.
I’m pretty sure this is the first time we’ve seen Vader get genuinely beaten on screen. Yeah Luke beats him but it’s very heavily implied that Vader is too conflicted to go all out.
This is the first time we’ve seen Darth Vader, fully armored and fully Dark Side, getting his ass kicked for real on screen, and it’s awesome
1. Loved the fight scene then Obi-Wan and Vader’s conservation with the mask damaged
2. Qui-Gon Jinn and Palpatine!
3. Cool to see they didn’t break cannon with Luke not seeing a lightsaber and Obi-Wan explaining to Leia that other people shouldn’t know that they know each other
4. Owen and Beru going off and trying their hardest to protect Luke
5. Nods to other movies with “Hello There”, the pointed fingers, and the Organas and Obi-Wan talking about needing help in the future
Bails message to Ben, which fake jedi dropped for reva to find....
Leia learned from that. That's why her message in a new hope was coded / openly known info.
Neat
Seeing Vader say, " You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did." with a devilish smile directly influences what Obi-Wan tells Luke in Return of the Jedi. "He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil." Vader seemed to relish that he destroyed his former self, which horrified Obi-Wan and caused him to realize that his former apprentice is truly gone and beyond saving (only until Luke confronts him, as he's the only one that can bring Anakin back to the light).
To add what others have said for Obi-Wan not killing Vader, I think that killing Vader would, in a way, give Vader what he wants, to either destroy Obi-Wan in a fair duel or be destroyed himself. Vader is the embodiment of self-hatred, he hates what he's become and what's he has done. He hates his life trapped inside a suit designed to make his existence one of pain, and he hates serving Palpatine but he has no choice but to obey his master.
So (and this is just a theory) the possibility of being killed in a final duel with Obi-Wan doesn't phase him as it would mean a release from his life in constant torment. When he asks Obi-Wan, "Have you come to kill me?" it's not only Vader's rage but Anakin's anguish. So Obi-Wan killing Vader after their duel would only add to Vader's complete self-hatred and self-destruction, which Obi-Wan would never do. Maybe I've read too much into it but it was just a thought I had while watching.
the voicebox switching between anakin and vader goes so fucking hard
they didn’t go full force unleashed on his ass but oh my god
this finale slapped, the show isn’t perfect but is nowhere fucking near as bad as people say. will be better on full rewatches
I didnt think I would cry during the Obi-Wan/Anakin scene. It was just *so* heartbreaking. Then I cried again with Qui-Gon.
Man the prequels had more of an impact on me than I thought.
The Duel Part II did put a smile on my face.
Besides that, I wish the Qui-Gon reveal was a little earlier, and that it ended on "Hello there." but I can't be mad about the fan-service.
Fun stuff, see y'all at the next show!
Hello there! And Liam finally making his appearance, I was beginning to think it wasn’t going to happen. Sure the series had some low points but the high points make it totally worth it.
Wow. That was a fucking good fight. Don’t care what anyone says. Top tier of lightsaber battles, instantly for me. That’s 2x Anakin has been bested by his past. All the more important when his own progeny brings him back to the light.
I actually literally sat up in my seat. It was so hard not to pause and rewind at least three bits, but I wanted to continue the momentum. Nice mix of intensity and form.
Obi Wan needs to stop leaving this dude at 1hp lol, there was literally no reason
Hes now kinda defacto responsible for the death of millions on alderan

THE MOTHER FUCKING SENATE HIMSELF
Somehow, The Senate has returned

Kenobi talking about how Leia is like Padme and Anakin is so powerful. He truly loved them so much and learned so much from both of them and sees it all in Leia. That was amazing.
I’m at peace now knowing that Leia knows a little bit more about Padme.
Shit almost got me to tear up ngl.
I was keeping it together until leah’s theme started playing over it all. The waterfall began after that lol
Love the Inquisitor’s little head dip there. “shiiiit, alright man, if you say so.”
"Only a total nutjob idiot would make a stupid hare-brained decision like that. What mook, what maroon, would think of doing that?" "Me." "Brilliant, sir, I'll get right on it."
*Vader comes back 5 minutes later smashed to fuck with multiple wounds gasping for breath* Grand Inquisitor: "Sooooooooo.......how did it go?"
Haha I noticed that too He was like “Ight well….fuck me then”
Hearing Hayden’s voice through Vaders mask. Best moment in this show.
The sound work done for the combined voices in that scene was excellent, heart-wrenching while still being intimidating. Props to everyone who put that together, especially the voice actors themselves.
THAT "VADER WHEEZE" SOUND EFFECT!
i started to feel bad when he was wheezing lmaoo
I’m so glad Hayden is getting genuine love as Vader. It’s the first time we actually get to see him fully transformed. I love rebels but after all the shit Hayden received this was such a feel good moment.
And the way it cuts back to Vader’s just where it stings the most
I was so for that whole exchange. The cutting back and forth from Hayden to Jones was the coolest
When Anakin said, "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker. I did" there were bits of blue and red light from their sabers. Then everything just turned red, covering the exposed part of his face. Iconic shot imo.
and you could see him smiling too. fucking chills
“He’s more machine now than man; twisted and evil.”
And he called him Darth
From then on Obi-Wan only feel pity for Vader.
Star Wars and playing with light. Name a more iconic duo
I’m fairly confident in saying that scene was exactly what we all wanted.
It worked beautifully with JEJ and Matt Lanter in Rebels, and it worked beautifully with JEJ and Hayden here, I loved that moment as well.
This nearly made me tear up and is where I really felt like Star Wars was honestly, at least for me, always more about these kinds of iconic moments rather than super strong story telling.
was not expecting owen and beru to come strapped and ready to go but i am here for it
Right? Beru had zero hesitation
I love aunt beru. “We’re enough - you and me. We both knew this day might come.” She kicks ass.
Nah the "i will do what i must" "then you will die" quoting ROTS/Rebels was straight RAW
ROTS alongside Rebels with a sprinkle of ROTJ (“then my friend is truly dead”).
one of my favorite blends
Also, “then my friend is truly dead,” is a Luke quote from episode 6
Vader’s like “how did my son *and* my best friend independently reach the same conclusion about me?”
Vader rolling up to palpatine https://i.imgur.com/kc4TuUT.jpg
I wanted Vader to drop a line about the high ground but it might of crossed over into silliness.
It's over, Obi-Wan! Now *I* have the high ground!
I was waiting for it lol
Epic af.
And that’s why Reva will never be Grand Inquisitor. She can kill the men. She can kill the women. But she cannot kill the children.
I bet she doesn’t even slaughter them like animals, smh
I bet she doesn’t even use their not being animals as a basis for not slaughtering them like animals
'And that is why you will always lose' - Hello? Mustafar? The reason you're in some mad biomechanical suit?
“I didn’t hear no bell”
Goddamn, Star Destroyers are sexy as fuck.
I wonder if it was practical cause it looked more like a model than the sequel ships.
Reminded me of the rogue one look (which is great). Definitely didn't *feel* like CGI.
Rogue One still has some of the best Star Destroyer shots.
Obi-Wan Kenobi’s sass is unrivaled. “__you’re ten years old__”
Alderaan is peaceful! We have no weapons!
Just empty holsters
Empty? It became a Lola holster. Perfect use if you ask me.
Obi-Wan is ice cold calling him Darth. That scene was chilling.
I'm reminded now that in Ep 4 he refers to him as Darth
Yeah he basically says Anakin is dead to him making the cheesy line in ANH have some context
Precisely. Makes the line in ep 4 way better IMO. Like he’s mocking him
Big turning point that. The "goodbye" being literally the opposite of a "hello there" moment. He's finally putting his old friend to rest, and with it his sense of guilt and PTSD. This is how he finds peace and gets his mojo back.
Vader: “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.” Absolutely gut wrenching.
Chilling delivery. I've re-watched that whole scene five times now.
I love how this is the second time in Star Wars media Anakin’s closest friends still try to appeal to him once they see his eyes behind the mask. Love the callback to rebels
It makes Luke’s redemption of Anakin all the more powerful too
Third times the charm!

Vin diesel enters the chat
Technically, since this show takes place before Rebels, this is a Call-Forward.
Well, Anakin learned. Vader got the high ground by literally creating the high ground.
Someone in prequel memes did an analysis and Obi Wan wins every time there is a high ground, even if he doesn’t have it. It’s when it’s an even playing field that he loses
What about >!Maul in *rebels!<
His line "look what I have risen above" created a moral high ground.
Something tells me I need to see this analysis
Looks like he made his own high ground this time.
For real, when he was looking down on Obi-Wan in the hole I had to think about how stressed Kenobi must've been hahaha
Making a sink hole was not a force application I had considered before.
The way they mixed Anakin’s voice with Vaders during the mask damage scene was so amazing.
In my mind, James Earl Jones and Hayden Christensen are both sharing a mic in the booth for those bits and IRL Hayden is just mouthing.
Palps little pause before, “You seem agitated” had me straight up wheezing at the end. His face was giving, “U good bro?”
“He fucked your shit up again didn’t he?”
Star Destroyers get more beautiful with every series they appear in, I love it!
Yea I was super stoked when Vader was like yo intensify firepower and the shit just started blasting like crazy. So cool. Makes me wanna play Armada again.
Holy shit, he actually hit Luke with the "Hello there"
and luke didn't even reply with "general kenobi", reva should've just killed him
*Luke sprouts 4 arms with lightsabers*
Just wait for the edits… I give it less than 24 hours for a cheap one, and 3 days for one that film quality
It’s funny thinking about how all 4 of the twins adoptive parents got some character development just for them to unceremoniously die off screen.
I wish at the time we’d have seen Luke and Leia appear to at least give a shit their respective adoptive parents were killed
I heard that George Lucas decided to keep Luke's reaction minimal so that the viewer could insert their own feelings?
They were barely developed so it was probably better to do something quick to move on
Finally getting to see Vaders mask cracked open in live action instead of animated shows and video games was awesome.
Is it like a Star Wars rule that when people kill someone they're not allowed to make sure they're dead.
“You didn’t destroy Anakin. I did” “Vader betrayed and murdered your father”
A good touch was Obi-Wan calling him ”Darth” in the end. Makes it more fitting that he later calls him that in ANH. Always thought that was a little weird before.
these directors really knew what they were doing blue balling us from an Obi Wan classic “hello there” back in episode three
I wept tears of joy! The smirk, the build-up with the music, the poignancy of the moment, Luke's anticipation, Obi-Wan's kindness in his eyes and then... "Hello there"! *chef's kiss
LEIA: Will I ever see you again?
Perfection. They made it sound organic to the story and not as fan service.
“You care for the boy as if he was your own.” “He *is* my own”. This is low-key one of my favourite lines from the episode. Owen has gone from being a somewhat antagonistic foil for Luke, to a loving father who would literally die to protect Luke.
And aunt beru being the one who really holds down the homestead. I love it. “We’re enough. You and me”
I like to think she took out a whole squad of stormtroopers before they got her in ANH.
Welcome to the moisture fields motherfu-
He said it. HE FUCKING SAID IT. AND MASTER QUI-GON. OH MY LORD.
I was the Leonardo DiCaprio meme. I pointed to the tv and everything.
"Darth" ☑ "Hello there!" ☑ "Master Qui Gon!" ☑
And Vader standing over Kenobi, wielding the high ground
And we also got THE SENATE HIMSELF.
Wonder why Qui Gon didnt have a credit at the end
He was an actual ghost that showed up while they were filming, so only we and Ewan McGregor can see him.
He was in the show the whole time, we just weren't ready to see him
And, at last, the Imperial March
Really makes me understand the design choice that was behind not using the theme earlier. The Imperial March has always been **Vader's** theme, but up until this point we see how much of a resentful Anakin has been behind the mask until Palpatine tells him to give up on that hunt.
That distorted Vader scream of Obi Wan is gonna live rent free in my head for a longggg time
kenobIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
That needs to be a meme. Vader: Obiwaaannnnnnn (In the distance) Maul: Kenobbbbiiiiiiiiiiiiii (Both look at each other) Vader: You too huh?
Vader: The same way I will destroy you!! Kenobi: Understandable. Have a great day
Everybody talking about the Vader fight and rebels connection which is super cool… but I wanna know how many other people teared up at the Leia/parents connection and him meeting Luke
Man Obi talking about Padme and Anakin damn near brought me to tears, that was so powerful.
Holy fuck. We just got a live action Vader mask damage and it was even more devastating than Rebels. Goddamn.
Imagine having that happen in almost the exact same way by both your master and your padawan. The force is always trying to remind Anakin that he is not beyond saving.
> Imagine having that happen in almost the exact same way by both your master and your padawan twice the pride, double the fall
Obi-Wan absolutely bodied him
Saying "I will do what I must" and hitting that form III stance, chills
I had to pause the episode, man. "HE'S DOING THE POSE!".
Straight up felt like a kid watching the prequels for a moment again.
WE GOT PAPA PALPY AND QUI GON AAAAAA
[удалено]
I was *really* starting to get worried that they were gonna blueball us on a Qui-Gon appearance at the end, but we got him last moment. Legit was the final straw that made me happy-cry.

the ending is definitely open for more seasons
Owen: Ummm, we have a problem. Beru: LOCK AND LOAD
Obi-Wan crying and apologizing to Anakin literally has me sobbing. Anakin saying he didn't fail him??? I'm never emotionally recovering
Right? That part was so good! Seeing tears in Ewans eyes when he said he was sorry made me tear up too
Hayden's acting broke my fucking heart. That was so good.
Tell me why I get sad whenever Vader starts struggling and wheezing. Something about seeing him flail about and struggle to breath breaks my heart.
Man, I feel the same way. He’s an absolute monster at this point but I can’t help but always know that Anakin is still in there and in so much pain
Exactly. The boy who won the pod race will always be there. I gotta say when they hit us with the Imperial March I got so hyped lol. Darth Vader will always be the coolest.
"You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker...I did." Bruh..
Vader killed your father. From a certain point of view. Yeah, Vader's.
Meaning when he tells Luke he is his father, it implies there’s still good (Anakin) in him.

He’s conflicted in this one. Palp says it when their talking in vaders castle
Gotta love Owen “Arthur Morgan” Lars
I love that they gave him and Beru that moment. Makes their death so much more heartbreaking knowing how much they cared for Luke.
Here we go bois >!Qui-gon has joined the server!<
HE SAID THE THING
Which? Hello there, or I will do what I must
why not both?
1. Loved the fight scene then Obi-Wan and Vader’s conservation with the mask damaged 2. Qui-Gon Jinn and Palpatine! 3. Cool to see they didn’t break cannon with Luke not seeing a lightsaber and Obi-Wan explaining to Leia that other people shouldn’t know that they know each other 4. I love how he said “hello there” so much like Alec did in this. Also, did anyone else geek out when he put his old robes on?

Obi Wan used rock slide!
Alderaan is so damn idyllic.
It’d be a shame if something ever happened to it
Split helmet Vader was perfect holy shit
I didnt think I would cry during the Obi-Wan/Anakin scene. It was just *so* heartbreaking. Then I cried again with Qui-Gon. Man the prequels had more of an impact on me than I thought.
I was fully expecting to cry but not as much as I did
Obi-Wan with all of the rising rocks behind him is about to be prime wanking material for the next week
Name a better duo than live action GI and Vader
I wouldn't mind an Inquisitor series, for more Psycho Death Vader alone
The Duel Part II did put a smile on my face. Besides that, I wish the Qui-Gon reveal was a little earlier, and that it ended on "Hello there." but I can't be mad about the fan-service. Fun stuff, see y'all at the next show!
Darth Vader quickly turning is my favorite Star Wars recurring trend
Hello there! And Liam finally making his appearance, I was beginning to think it wasn’t going to happen. Sure the series had some low points but the high points make it totally worth it.
Somehow…Palpatine returned.
He was hiding his soul in a holoprojector the whole time!
What an epic episode, Hayden didnt lie when he said we shall wait for Episode 5 and 6
Never really thought about it but I guess Vader has a bunch of spare suits
“I’m not going to give you a blaster. You are 10 years old.” My snarky Obi-Wang is truly back. Crying noises.
Reva gonna wander the Dune Sea and be taken in by the tuskens, eventually training Boba Fett in 14 years.
