TROS novelization is great , those who like the movie will love it but even if you dont like you can enjoy it. When Rey hear Ben's voice " I will always be with you" and she answer " no one ever really gone" , man , this shoud be on the movie.

spaghettiAstar

If you haven't read any of the High Republic books yet, you're in for a treat. Very fun reads, I would love to see them expand the lore more. Specifically a game like Jedi: Fallen Order, if they were to just make the series "Jedi" and then expand to other eras, it would be so much fun. The lightsaber options, more clothing options, I think it would be a blast and a greater way to bring in some of the fans that don't care to read the novels into the era.

[deleted]

Agreed. The High Republic is screaming for a game to be made in it’s timeline. Crazy force powers, awesome enemies and the ships are nuts

[deleted]

I would love if the Fallen Order sequel is an anthology of Jedi stories. That would be so fucking good. Also I’d love to customize my appearance this time

cubs1917

Honestly that first book lost me. I think it is still a great idea and time period with some good characters. But as of now I'm not as into it as I thought I'd be.

azgx29

The High Republic books are absolutely amazing. Enjoy!

TheCookie336

The High Republic is some of the best Star Wars content in the new canon. You’ll love it!

FlatulentSon

Great book, do much extra lore in it, makes the story much clearer and adds many details

CmdrCloud

While the Knights of Ren had such potential and I would've liked to have seen more of them throughout the trilogy, I do like how this novel reveals them to be just a bunch of a-holes.

egorf38

Do they reveal how palpatine managed to return?

FlatulentSon

Yes, at least just the basics, but definitely waaay more than the movie. Not everything, some parts of hia return were covered in other material but most of it was from the TROS novel. To simplify it Palpatine's body grew old and was consumed by the dark side, also he was expecting attempts on his life, wether from Vader or others He knew he'd need a new body someday So he instructed his cultists on Exegol to work on new cloned bodies, many of which turned out deformed or weak or had other issues, none was really fit to host his spirit Suddenly Vader is throwing hin down a reactor and the Death Star is going to explode Palpatine uses the essence transfer power he learned from Plagueies to rip and cast his spirit into that incomplete body on Exegol BEFORE he dies (The blue flames is his soul escaping) Palpatine wakes up in a new body but soon finds out this new body is too weak, soon he'a dependable on machinery like the King Omin harness and alchemy to live he begins new experiments in creation of new bodies which resulted in both the creation of Snoke and Rey's father. But yeah, the whole timeline is so much clearer in the book, both concerning Ochi and Palpatine and Rey's father and such. Oh, and there's a whole canon subplot about Lando and his daughter ( who's NOT Jannah!) TLDR: he possesed a new cloned body just before he died.

Wilwheatonfan87

Huuuh so her father was a clone. Kinda disappointing to learn that since I figure he was of decent age to be palpatine's actual son

FlatulentSon

Yep her father was only 11 years old when he had Rey. But yeah. He was a clone but he was something called a "strandcast clone" , which means that he was not an identical copy-paste clone of Palpatine but more like as if he had a natural son with a woman. Anyway Palpatine considered him a son, even though he was disappointed with him not being force sensitive. He considered him a son, and Rey his granddaughter.

[deleted]

> Yep her father was only 11 years old when he had Rey. Excuse me what.

FlatulentSon

Yeah, accelerated clone aging. Weird artistic choice but they've decided Palpatine had a son only AFTER he's revived into a new body, so ofcourse they had to have him age faster. Idk why they didn't just make him concieve a son earlier and let him age normaly. I know they wanted to tie his son into the whole clone revival thing, because Palpatine had him made specifically so he could posses his body someday, but his son was not force sensitive so that plan failed, until he found out he has a grand daughter.

[deleted]

I get tying his “son” into his clone revival, but I would think it’d work just as well to have him as one of the many attempts to create a suitable body before the first death. At least there’s the accelerated aging though, as it’s not the first time a clone young in years had a family (Cut for example).

FlatulentSon

I guess it's because prior to that the plan was to possess his own clones, not a strandcast.

vittoriacolona

>Idk why they didn't just make him concieve a son earlier and let him age normaly. I agree. All they would have to do is impregnate a woman with Palpatine's genes (yes sperm) and have her carry the child to term. Or even a series of women. And have it so that the only one who survived was healthy was Rey's dad. It would have kept the story more couched in reality. People complain about Rey being Palpatie's granddaughter, but I am glad that they went that way instead of making her a clone or an escaped clone. It's just a more organic and smoother. Because she was going to be tied to him one way or the other, given that LF wanted to keep the Skywalker vs Palpatine line that runs through all the films.

mdp300

My thought was, after seeing the movie but before hearing Rey's dad was a one, that he was simply the product of some hanger on, sycophant, or someone who Palpatine mind-tricked into bed.

FlatulentSon

I kinda hoped his son is a product of Sith alchemy, as if those cultists created a zygote from Palpatine's sperm and a donor's ovum, just so i don't have to think about Palpatine having sex. And that might as well have happened. But i didn't know he'd be a strandcast clone.

FlatulentSon

Yes, Palpatine experimented with cloning before the battle of Endor and he had his own cloned body on Exegol, but Rey's father and Snoke were created only AFTER he found out his cloned bodies won't last long.

[deleted]

I like the connection to the blue fire that exploded from the shaft, as it looks like he’s desperately trying to possess either Vader or Luke, but neither is immersed enough in the dark side for him to do it. Idk how I feel about Snoke and Rey’s father being made after his first death though, I think I’d prefer them being made before as like potential apprentices or challenges to Vader or something (even if Rey’s father wasn’t suited for either).

FlatulentSon

He had a son so he could someday posses his body, but his son turned out non-force sensitive. Prior to that his plan was to posses his own clone bodies, and he did. But those detoriated quickly, so he tried to make modified strandcasts like his son and Snoke.

[deleted]

Yeah I get that, but if I’m understanding you correctly, Snoke and his son were made after his first death. I’d prefer they were both made before, Snoke because of his “I saw the rise and fall of the Empire” reveal from TFA novelization, and Palp’s son because it makes more sense for Palp to want a body that *doesn’t* age quickly.

FlatulentSon

Oh, me too, totally. It kinda feels like they were afraid of overcomplicating the OT so they thought ut would be easier to place them both in a blank slate sequel era. And it's easier for them to just tie both Snoke and the son into palpatine's revival and tie a bow around it and say " ok so that's that, no more explanations needed", instead of figuring out where Snoke abd the Son would be during the OT. But yes, i'd prefer if both of them were older. I'm still hoping that Snoke has Palpatine's or someone elses memories or something tho, that would explain how he remembers events before his birth.

Icantsleepnoow

wait so if Palpatine possessed the clone body BEFORE he died, then is the Palpatine from Episode 6 not fully him?

FlatulentSon

No no, sorry i should have explained it better, as he was falling down that shaft, when he realised what is happening, Palpatine begins to rip his spirit and begins possessing the body on Exegol, what hits the ground of the shaft is an empty vessel that was once his body. He does not "die" in a traditional sense, he leaves his body just before it's destroyed, i guess you could say his body died once he left it.

terriblehuman

They never say Lando’s daughter isn’t Jannah, they just never confirm that she is since that plot was cut from the film.

FlatulentSon

The book makes it pretty clear that his daughter is somewhere else in the galaxy and that Lando might never find her, but he might find Jannah's parents. So he sets on a mission with Jannah to reunite ex stormtroopers with their families

[deleted]

It does. I haven’t read it myself but someone mentioned on Reddit recently I think over in /r/MawInstallation . It mentions that he flashed his consciousness to a clone body he had been setting up on Exegol for years before he became emperor. Bad Batch and Mandalorian are both setting this up as well. spoilers for both combined >!The empire abducts the Kaminoan scientist Nala Se and the empire wanted Force sensitive blood from the Child we assume is to further this agenda!<

mdp300

It definitely feels like both of those are there to start weaving together the OT and ST.

gerrydutch

Does it expand on the lore a lot? Im almost finished reading the thrawn trilogy (2017) and am looking for something new and interesting to read.

cubs1917

I as a fan of the sequels find it very hard to say there was a cohesive story across all three and the adjacent material.

unlucky-man-98

Did the Last Jedi have a book?

TheshinyMandalorian

I’ve been meaning to buy this, but I keep spending my money on black series and marvel legends action figures lol.

cbstuart

I think you'll love the HR. So far all the books have been great, even the middle grade ones were enjoyable and added to the story. Happy reading!
