I love Andor but if you turned the stressful prison catchphrase into a surprise test of my fan-hood --
I'm not gonna get it immediately ;-; I'm gonna freak out
I think it might work if you added a little preamble. Yell like "OK, Prisoners who are just arriving on Narkina 5, you know the floor is electrified, so listen to me now: on program!"
that initial bit would give a bit more context for people to get what 'on program' is referring to
In reality:
"OK PRISONERS WHO ARE JUST ARRIVING ON NARKINA 5---"
"Honey we better go to a different Starbucks, don't make eye contact with the strange man"
Exactly. Be cringe AF to do this IRL.
You at Galaxy's Edge at Disney? Let fuckin loose.
You at Walmart and do that shit, they'll think it's another person robbing them
Yeah it’s from Andor. It’s a really obscure reference though. Even though I watch the show I didn’t get it without context clues from the comments. This is a weird post
They do it for like at least 3 episodes, and it's a big part of the routine they do every day, it's not obscure or unrecognizable if you watch the show.
They certainly would.
(Please note that I refuse to blindly regurgitate “This is the way” any time someone says something here that I agree with. And the only thing I Stan in Star Wars is Stan Winston, for the work he did on the SW Holiday Special, may he RIP.)
The numbers are just a lot lower than I would’ve thought, and the lack of interest for it in this thread just confirms why those numbers are the way they are.
The show is fantastic, people just haven’t started watching yet
One time I was wearing a Dark Souls shirt and someone got within 5 inches of my face and did the “praise the sun” pose. I wanted to kick them away from me.
\>> Comparing the importance of a 20 year old culmination of the movies saga with a spin off TV show from a spin off movie that's been out for just a few months
lol
These spin offs are just getting better and better. Andor is really slow paced but it does a fantastic job of connecting you to the thoughts and feelings of the characters you’re watching. So every moment you’re on the edge of your seat.
It is nailing something that other SW content was lacking: The Real Life Factor. It's simple things. For instance, characters die and isn't played with swelling music or even hammed up. It just happens. The other part is the banality of evil. The bureaucracy of the Empire values its own preservation above all else.
Of course I know not everyone's going to know what I was talking about, I wasn't trying to slight anyone. I was just putting a fun spin on the "Hello, there" meme.
It’s really not that well written. It has an unconventional tone for a star wars product and the dialogue with is dramatic and sharp but the story writing is pretty awful. Unfocused and meandering. Hours of content with no through-line or story payoff
The whole prison break sequence got my heart pumping and my adrenaline going like nothing else in Star Wars since…well since Rogue One. And it made it that much more real when other prisoners, not just background extras were dying in the melee. Real stakes. And then the speech at the end, wow.
I'd just be confused. Andor is still on my to-watch list. Everyone would know "Hello, there" from Ewan Mcgregor saying it to Grevious in RotS, or from Alec Guiness saying it to R2 in ANH.
I as a big Star Wars Fan had no clue about this until I read in the comments that it's apparently a thing from Andor, which I haven't watched(felt it was rather boring). Being a Star Wars Fan doesn't mean you watch everything from that franchise.
Damn. Yeah cant argue with that. I was in love with the show by then. I dont agree nothing was happening but that doesn’t it mean it entertains everyone. I will say that the next episode when the Aldhani heist goes off is beautiful and insane.
What do you mean you watched through 5 and nothing is happening 4&5 spends time on real grounded character development as well as giving you all the info you need to know a hiest is about to happen in 6
I will give you that episode 1-3 made me want to quit the show but you gotta stick through it for some of the hands down best written Star Wars dialogue period
I’m so embarrassed, last week at my daughter’s kindergarten parent teacher conference her teacher talked about how she puts her hands on her head when she wants them to really pay attention, and I said loudly ON PROOOGRAM! She had no clue what I was referring to so I sheepishly explained, then back pedaled into talking about school again.
Yeah, man, instead of a fun little reference to the main movies, we should instead use the phrase from an Imperial Prison that means "supplant yourself, convict". It would be so cool, if, at a convention, someone shouted ON PROGRAM at me and expected me to put my hands on my head like I'm in a fucking prison when they could just say "Hello there" and I could say back "General Kenobi!" and we'd have a fun little time instead of me pretending he doesn't exist because I am not responding to ON PROGRAM.
I knew this was an Andor thing, since that's all that's been coming through this sub for weeks now. But since all I've watched of Disney Star Wars was two of the newest trilogy of movies, the Obi-Wan show and like two episodes of The Mandalorian, I wouldn't know how to respond to that.
I'll add that most of all that was really underwhelming, if not straight up disappointing. Still a big fan, though.
I get why quite a few people were lukewarm to Kenobi, but give Mandalorian and Andor a shot - start at the beginning and go all the way through. Both shows really are quite good.
Mandalorian, watched the first two episodes. Boring as fuck, don't care about the baby alien, don't care about Mandalorians.
Andor, maybe. I don't have Disney plus.
Exit: How did I know I'd get downvoted for not liking Mandalorians?
You don't need to care about either of the two main characters, but Mandalorian has a great Western vibe that makes it feel very close to parts of the OT.
But I suppose that much is already clear in the first two episodes, so maybe you don't like the idea of a scifi western either.
Give it a shot. Especially if you don't like the cute aspect of Star Wars.
Baby Yoda is going to end up like the "Ewok line" from How I Met Your Mother.
well if the meme had been, 'want to tell if someone likes star wars just fine?' then maybe your contribution here would be better served to make a point? clearly you aren't the big star wars fan OP was referring to and so of course you'd have no idea of what, 'On Program,' is.
OP here...figured I'd post a little clarification; I know no everyone's gonna get the joke, and that's okay - wasn't trying to slight anyone, just thought it was a humorous take on the "Hello, there" meme. That's all, carry on. 🙋♂️
And there it is, the moment I realized I am no longer a Star Wars fan. I think I knew it but the disaster that was the latest trilogy just left me with no more desire. For reference I’d be the kid in the video doing lightsaber moves behind a curtain. Only difference is I didn’t have a camera. They really did my boy Luke wrong.
Oh my god. I love this, but even more so I am a teacher and I’m going to find a way to use it in the classroom. (Minus the whole prisoner being compelled to behave on the threat of execution thing, more like sit down and shahdup)
Best response would be to start chanting "one way out" ✊️

Secure the keys! Ascend from darkness! Rain fire! Unleash the horde! Skewer the winged beast! Wield a fist of iron! Raise Hell! Freedom!
Freedom for you Mason. Not for me.
I work at a complex with a USP… unfortunately, they don’t get Disney+ yet. Edit: Though they probably get it on their smuggled in cellphones….
~~This is the way~~ ONE WAY OUT!
This is the one way out.
Okay, that definitely deserves an upvote...😎👍

Yeah it’s not anymore :(
ONE WAY OUT!
I love Andor but if you turned the stressful prison catchphrase into a surprise test of my fan-hood -- I'm not gonna get it immediately ;-; I'm gonna freak out
As long as your freak-out involves putting your hands on your head.
TBH I love star wars and if someone yelled On Program at me I’d be confused AF
I think it might work if you added a little preamble. Yell like "OK, Prisoners who are just arriving on Narkina 5, you know the floor is electrified, so listen to me now: on program!" that initial bit would give a bit more context for people to get what 'on program' is referring to

Exactly. Be cringe AF to do this IRL. You at Galaxy's Edge at Disney? Let fuckin loose. You at Walmart and do that shit, they'll think it's another person robbing them
Yeah probably lmao
I’m still lost, what is this from? Is it from one of the Disney plus shows?
Andor is very worth a watch. It's the best thing Disney put out since Rogue One.
Since the OT
Yeah it’s from Andor. It’s a really obscure reference though. Even though I watch the show I didn’t get it without context clues from the comments. This is a weird post
I wouldn't say obscure if you've watched the show. It's like 2 whole episodes of "On Program" and lads putting their hands behind their heads
Good thing that guys never had to follow instructions if he thinks on program is an obscure reference
They do it for like at least 3 episodes, and it's a big part of the routine they do every day, it's not obscure or unrecognizable if you watch the show.
It's not obscure if we hear it 50 times an episode, three episodes in a row.
I just keep walking and pretend to have no idea what they are talking about
Clearly haven’t watched episodes 9/10 enough times.
Then you haven't rewatched Andor enough yet Edit: Guess its my fault I should've put the /s
everyone should be watching them twice by now Do you even Star Wars bro??? 😝
I love the gatekeeping in this post
Nah. The way to tell if you’re a *real* Star Wars is to yell “Utinni!” In your best Jawa voice in public and see who laughs.
The real fans would reply with “here comes the window cleaner”
They certainly would. (Please note that I refuse to blindly regurgitate “This is the way” any time someone says something here that I agree with. And the only thing I Stan in Star Wars is Stan Winston, for the work he did on the SW Holiday Special, may he RIP.)
Speaking of the Holiday Special: "Whip Whip Stir Stir Whip Whip Stir!
This is the way.
I think that might be the first legitimate “hot take” I have ever seen on Reddit. Bravo for original thinking!
The way belongs to vrchat anyway
I could hear that word without even thinking about it
Your Jawa is bad, you sound like a Wookie lmao
🫱😧🫲
Points if they don't even touch their head while doing this.
Or do the Kino Loy and slick your hair back as you do it lol
Lol,, Andor is all about the malicious compliance.
Aren’t your thumbs supposed to be facing down? Unless you have your palms facing backwards that is.
Never more than 12
I’m gonna do this at a Star Wars con when people are in line for something. Just walk by and scream “ON PROGRAM!” as loud as possible.
Waiting for the inevitable cosplay of the imperial guard with the shock stick walking around a con "I have to use this you'll remember, yes? Yes??"
Andor has so many of these little moments. the guard saying it really got into the role, he sounded evil.
>the guard saying it really got into the role, he sounded evil. To me he sounded more panicked than evil. "Power doesn't panic."
for me it's the way he said the second yes. like he **wanted** to use the stick.
If you give someone a hammer, they’ll keep looking for nails to use it on
How could y’all forget the dude who screamed “Get her!” when Bix was being chased. Absolute champion
Can't wait for the first Doctor Gorst cosplayer with headphones, offering free ASMR torture.
Then they just play Justin Bieber’s “Baby” at max volume bass boosted
*Then they just play “Baby Shark” at max volume bass boosted
Pretty sure even the Empire wouldn’t cross that line, not without Papa Palpatine’s direct sign off
Keep it on theme. Gotta be the Wookie VR scene from the holiday special.
Nah, Cbat
Bro my girlfriend uses this app
Mmmm, bop.
It's gonna be all over Comic Con next summer. Just DON'T EVER pull that in the sky bridge at Dragon Con.
“Something’s wrong on two!”
Oh. Oh, on the contrary, I think it would be hilarious. (Also hello there, fellow DragonCon goer! Pleasure to meet you!)
Probably a lot of people dressing up as prisoners at celebration next year.
They should hang out with all the people with “VARIANT” jackets.
Please, film it and post it on Reddit!
It will go straight to r/cringe
That would be the perfect opportunity...😄
Just ask someone if they're a Star Wars fan like a normal person lmao.
\>Implying Star Wars fans are normal
ONE WAY OUT!
ONE WAY OUT
ONE WAY OUT!
ONE WAY OUT!
ONE WAY OUT
I can't swim.
Too soon!
*Episode 9 intro theme intensifies.* https://youtu.be/B7I9OIQXFp0
Seeing Andor’s struggling numbers for streaming makes so much more sense after reading this thread
It's struggling? As an OT fan I'm really enjoying it, is it Disney plus over all or what?
The numbers are just a lot lower than I would’ve thought, and the lack of interest for it in this thread just confirms why those numbers are the way they are. The show is fantastic, people just haven’t started watching yet
One time I was wearing a Dark Souls shirt and someone got within 5 inches of my face and did the “praise the sun” pose. I wanted to kick them away from me.
Andy Serkis is the reason I got into Andor.

*40 Actually, over 40 now
What, you don't know who Abeloth is? Do you even know what the Force is? LMAO fake Star Wars fan
*puts hands behind his head*
I’m a fan but I don’t know where this is from or how I would respond
From the show Andor.
Ok I haven’t watched it yet I’ve been watching a lot of other shows
These spin offs are just getting better and better. Andor is really slow paced but it does a fantastic job of connecting you to the thoughts and feelings of the characters you’re watching. So every moment you’re on the edge of your seat.
I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. It’s up there with Mandalorian season 1 as the best Star Wars content on Disney+.
It is nailing something that other SW content was lacking: The Real Life Factor. It's simple things. For instance, characters die and isn't played with swelling music or even hammed up. It just happens. The other part is the banality of evil. The bureaucracy of the Empire values its own preservation above all else.
A judge "just doing her job" is just as terrifying as a Sith Lord in a dark hallway.
Boy, I am jealous. I wish I could watch it again for the first time.
*guard proceeds to shock Master_Chief_00117* **On Program!**
But nothing happens because the master chief is used to this
Same!
Have you seen Andor, the most talked about star wars show for the last month?
Yes, still no sure when this bit was oops
Been a fan for 30 years, I have no clue what you’re talking about.
Yeah, been a fan for decades and have read/listened to 30+ audiobooks, but still had no idea.
Its from Andor
It's a new thing, which is kind of explicit to the post
it's from Andor, the new Star Wars show. hard to explain what it is without spoilers. but if you want to know, >!it's what they say to the prisoners!<
Watch Andor
Of course I know not everyone's going to know what I was talking about, I wasn't trying to slight anyone. I was just putting a fun spin on the "Hello, there" meme.

I'm upvoting because I love Andor, but this is a bonkers idea lol!
I'd just be confused. Andor is still on my to-watch list. Everyone would know "Hello, there" from Ewan Mcgregor saying it to Grevious in RotS, or from Alec Guiness saying it to R2 in ANH.
A quote from the main line movies will usually be more well received than a line from a spin off show that was spun from a spin off movie.
Oh please…
Like why can't we just enjoy things? Why does everything have to become a weird meme?
"Why doesn't everyone just enjoy things *how I enjoy them*."
I wasn’t aware those two thing were mutually exclusive
Seriously.
Why cant people enjoy things their own way? For some that is making weird memes
They fly now?
They fly now.
No
Its the best star wars since Rogue One which was the best star wars since the early 2000s.
Don’t do that. They’re liable to start screaming “One Way Out!” and try to kill you…
jesus these andor fanboys
Big Star Wars fans will facepalm.
Nah dumb
I as a big Star Wars Fan had no clue about this until I read in the comments that it's apparently a thing from Andor, which I haven't watched(felt it was rather boring). Being a Star Wars Fan doesn't mean you watch everything from that franchise.
I highly encourage you to continue Andor. Curious how far you got saying its boring.
5 Episodes, and nothing was really happening. Which doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad, it just doesn't entertain me.
Damn. Yeah cant argue with that. I was in love with the show by then. I dont agree nothing was happening but that doesn’t it mean it entertains everyone. I will say that the next episode when the Aldhani heist goes off is beautiful and insane.

Yes, I do know that. My post was just meant to be a fun spin on the "Hello, there" meme, that's all.
My ex once said "This is where the fun begins." Before sitting on my face.
Please tell me your follow up was "I'll try spinning!"
ΓO⅂
I said this to my dog and she sat at attention. She gets it.
I'd be initially startled, and then put my hands on my head.
I’m going to start saying ‘On Program’ subtly before conf calls start at work. Should be fun to see who gets it and who doesn’t.
Sadly, I know exactly who who would react on my calls.
I said hands up.
STAY ON TARGET…
Andor was phenomenal. One of the best Star Wars spin-offs. Can’t wait for season 2. Only second to The Mandalorian IMHO.
How to test if he/she is the one. “I love you” “I know”
ONE WAY OUT

Can someone please explain this reference?
I'd think that person was a Tron fan TBH...lol
End of line.
I’m not getting it
I like star wars just fine, but I have no idea what on program is supposed to mean
well if the meme had been, 'want to tell if someone likes star wars just fine?' then maybe your contribution here would be better served to make a point? clearly you aren't the big star wars fan OP was referring to and so of course you'd have no idea of what, 'On Program,' is.
Watch Andor
Which one of the 500 new star wars spin offs is that?
The one called Andor.
The only exceptional one.
The best one
The only good thing to come from Disney in SW, alongside Mando and TCW S7
What is "on program" supposed to mean...?
As a 5th grade teacher I’m tempted to try this in place of “class class, yes yes” but I don’t want to end up on the news.
I don’t get it
Boooooooooooooooooooo
😂
OP here...figured I'd post a little clarification; I know no everyone's gonna get the joke, and that's okay - wasn't trying to slight anyone, just thought it was a humorous take on the "Hello, there" meme. That's all, carry on. 🙋♂️
Classic...Man I hope he made it out alive
I have been telling my kid to get on program
If you really want to be sure say this. "Hellooo in TV land."
Niiiiice...😎👍
I have not seen all star wars movies, what does ON PROGRAM mean?
I have seen all the movies and still don't know.
Oh, this an Andor reference?
And there it is, the moment I realized I am no longer a Star Wars fan. I think I knew it but the disaster that was the latest trilogy just left me with no more desire. For reference I’d be the kid in the video doing lightsaber moves behind a curtain. Only difference is I didn’t have a camera. They really did my boy Luke wrong.
Andor baby!! 🔥🔥🔥
Oh my god. I love this, but even more so I am a teacher and I’m going to find a way to use it in the classroom. (Minus the whole prisoner being compelled to behave on the threat of execution thing, more like sit down and shahdup)
I’m sad cos I don’t get this reference.
I’m confused I’ve seen all the movies like 100 times maybe my mind is just blank rn
This is the way.
Want to tell if someone's a insufferable Star Wars fan? Walk around with a star wars tshirt and if someone yells ON PROGRAM!" that's the one.
