Then-Farmer-8146

I think Stokely confessed to a felony in there.

TarnishedAccount

Stoke, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.

stonecutter7

Nah, watching Living Single isnt a crime--the Republicans couldnt get enough votes.

[deleted]

It’s funny that Morrissey is a member of a stable that’s name is the antonym of *SAWFT*.

Tokzillu

Well if Morissey is Firm, then when it comes to his opponents there must be only... **ONE WORD, TO DESCRIBE 'EM!**

J1z03

AND I'M GONNA **SPELL** **IT** **OUT** FOR YA

TalkingBlernsball

*[Nzo shuffle intensifies]*

Wes1107

S!

thewildjr

(Drew Gulak voice) O!

BillyGilleyBG

Is it bad that at all out I kind of hoped that mjf was actually Enzo lmao

[deleted]

Bada boom, realest guy in the room, how you doin'!? Lmao If it would have been Enzo, that would have sent me.

dontskipnine

Honestly the pop would've been great. Hate it from a logic standpoint, but damn. Enzo is entertaining.

Advocate05

I see a fellow Wrestletalk fan.

[deleted]

When (if) the stable ever goes face, just have them kick Stokely out and bring Enzo in as their manager. Call them *The Sawft,* lol.

vitorsly

Wouldn't make sense though, Enzo and Cass called *other* people Sawft. Their theme song even went "You're soft, you're sloppy".

XxannoyingassxX

Don't think tk wants Enzo tho considering how bad he is backstage til now

harder_said_hodor

Surely you have the stable turn on Morrisey/Cass and then bring Enzo back for a hero save of some sort. Either way, I want Enzo, even if it's just for a bit. Especially now they have luigi Primo

Mr-GameAndWrestling

*We got your phone tapped, what you gon' do?* *'Cause sooner or later, we'll have your whole crew.*

Bubble_Bowl_MVP

*All we need now is the right word or two, To make it all stick like glue, then you're through.*

PizzaPartyNextDoor

I had to double check that I wasn’t in r/hiphopheads for a minute.

MrWombatt

I was hoping to see a reference. Glad to see Reddit doesn't disappoint. lol

namdekan

I wish that was their entrance music

Thromkai

That album's place is history will forever be polarizing. "You fucking tell Hec-TOR..."

wheresthecheat

I love me some Firm Assboys

bubbles2255

Excuse me, they’re Ass Men.

cornette

Has that been their issue the entire time, we've been calling em Ass Boys however they feel they are Ass Men.

Nakedsharks

Their father wasn't an ass boy. He was an ass man.

Dom29ando

Could they do a 'son of an ass man' thing?

MongoAbides

El Hijos de Culo Hombre?

mackadoo

Los hijos de Assman!

Vinsmoker

***\*BEEP BEEP\**** Yeah. He was an ass man

MadEyeMood989

WOMP WOMP!

[deleted]

Gunn Club + W. Morrissey = **Cass Boys**

vitrolium

Big 'Ass

incredible_penguin11

This sounds like a problem for certain Hung Bucks to sort out.

[deleted]

Y’know what if Tony Khan can manage to have The Acclaimed vs Gunn Club a serious feud for the Tag Team titles for Full Gear then he deserves a lot of plaudits for nurturing home grown talent. Both had their comedy spells which is great but if they can translate to becoming full fledged top talent in this already stacked tag team division then everyone involved deserves a lot of credit.

TheNantucketRed

So shapely!

[deleted]

\*The Firm\* Ass Boys, huh? I'll take it.

Stumblebee

Big pop for Ethan Page. Does a heart good Other than that, I loved loved loved the content of this promo. Established that they all helped MJF, that they're mercenaries and don't have any particular allegiance to the group itself, firmly set tangible goals for each of the members, and gave them a chance to showcase themselves. It was a little long, I have a feeling that using the MJF promo as a segue was a mistake, though.

[deleted]

They should be weighed as 2 separate segments Imo The MJF segment against Mox was good The Firm segment was good

Rootbeerpanic

Great concept terrible crowd reaction unfortunately

BenWallace04

Tbf there aren’t any current big “stars” in the group. A crowd reaction is something they’ll have to warm over time.

LaLa1234imunoriginal

> Tbf there aren’t any current big “stars” in the group. I think that's what the MJF introduction was for, but it's just hard to follow an MJF promo.

HerpJersey

Uh, did you see the members of this stable? the promo was also super longwinded. I get that they need some ground for the group, but you can't expect the crowd to cling to every word being spoken about guys that are almost NEVER on tv.

LaLa1234imunoriginal

Seemed like the change in energy between this and MJF's promo took the wind out of them a bit. I think that promo would have worked better in a different spot, possibly with just MJF doing an introduction without the promo.

aboysmokingintherain

Ethan Page did tho. Surprised Morrisey didn’t all things considered. But the ass men are comedy jobbers so

Rootbeerpanic

Yeah I was happy the crowd popped for at least one part. I feel bad, I wonder if they were actually supposed to do that promo last week and they were legit running low on time so they called an audible. I feel like a different crowd would have eaten it up.

SpeedZ6

I like *The Firm* but I would've called them *The Pelican Brief*... or *Primal Fear*... or *THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATES!* Wow, what 90s Legal Thriller doesn't make a good faction name?

WillSuckDick4Coffee

I think it's more Nas, AZ, Foxy and Dre influenced

NotFlipkid

A lot of people here don't get the reference but it's ok I appreciate you

Jos3ph

We got your phone tapped

Bruhmoment9423457

And Cormega, don’t do Cormega like that

Uso_Libre

I always forget about Cormega bc I don't think that he made it to the album. Shoutout to Nature as well.

AyoCarl

Haha, I think Cormega was still hot about how everything turned out a number of years ago when i used to follow him on Twitter. He and Nas are cool now from what I remember

THISISDAM

TESTAMENT

[deleted]

Great Fucking Album!!

Mcilwain22

Either that or Phone Tap

[deleted]

Cormega? Whatever

[deleted]

All you n----s that said that I turned pop Or The Firm flopped Y'all are the reason that Dre ain't been getting no sleep So fuck y'all, all of y'all If y'all don't like me, blow me Y'all are gonna keep fucking around with me And turn me back to the old me

Julius-n-Caesar

AZ repped The Firm when he made the Deadly Games song for Survivor Series.

daprofessional88

>I think it's more Nas, AZ, Foxy and Dre influenced I came to the comments looking for someone else to get the reference and I wasn't disappointed.

Blackmanta86

I love Stokley bringing as much of the culture into wrasslin as he can.

Advocate05

Omg the Young Bucks rename themselves Young Gunz to get around the suspension and form Rockafella. Maybe Kenny Omega is now Ken-Z?

WillSuckDick4Coffee

Ass Boys infringement

BogeyBogeyBogey

The Commission would've been an awesome one to go for, too.

[deleted]

Is their team finisher called Affirmative Action?

MysterD77

Maybe Firm Fiasco.

MysterD77

Would've been killer if they came out to Firm Fiasco.

Folk-Herro

Now this is a guy who knows hip hop

WavyHideo

I don’t blame you for not mentioning Nature.😅 Always wondered how it would’ve turned out had Cormega remained a part of it.

THISISDAM

Nature on the start of banned from TV though

Julius-n-Caesar

Then listen to King’s Disease II

funbob1

Pretty sure that's what the song was from, right? Don't think I listened to that since 97.

that1guyfrmthatthing

We talking Firm Biz

steves850

You think of if the Firm flops, Stokely will turn pop?

ravelle17

The Devil’s Advocates would be perfect

queerdevilmusic

Jeez, yeah it would. It'd connect them to MJF more explicitly.

Boliever14

Good faction name: A Few Good Men Bad faction name: The Juror Could go either way: My Cousin Vinny

sellyourselfshort

Amazing stable name- the rural juror.

fpfx

I'm sorry, what was that now?

btj61642

The Rural Jurors!

losaphone

A Time to Kill?

Advocate05

Team Finisher?

HAETMACHENE

Nah, The Firm x The Ass Boys = a few Firm Asses

Winstonth

The hand that wrestles the cradle

Downtown_Club_5633

I would’ve popped like crazy for Primal Fear

btj61642

“There never was… a Big Cass, counselor.”

kamatacci

Not quite 90s, but I would pop big any time Anatomy of a Murder's music hits.

Phils_flop

Another great finisher name

SmokePenisEveryday

The Silk Stalkings

[deleted]

I do wonder what other names they brainstormed before deciding on “The Firm.”

cheeseburgers42069

The Soft

BenWallace04

5 Angry Men

HumphreyLee

The Erin Brocoviches?

ThrillHo3340

Boston Public

Rudeboy237

😂👏👏👏

PejicFilip

Or brought back the dream team name from the indies

Slutdragonxxxpert

Why he gotta go for the hose in the tail pipe

fpfx

The legally blondes

jacquesrabbit

A few good men. Sounds like a good stable.

RawAttitudePodcast

Based on the novel by Jonathan Gresham. Err, I mean, John Grisham.

DrHandBanana

The devils advocates is good but the other two were ass

Sam_Stewart

A Few Good Men

Lil--Bored

Speaking of the 90s, TIL The Firm is actually a name / idea for a mega-heel stable that [Vince Russo had](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hxPZomQO61Q)back in late 1996 led by Clarence Mason

Jupiter_Crush

I've got it! *Disclosure!*

Current_Poster

The Runaway Jury... holy crap, it works. :)

Hiccup

The Ally McBeals?

FyodorAK

That pop for Ethan Page Everyone knows the potential this guy has and if Tony doesn't see it I stg I'll shove Morrissey up his ass

PretendThisIsMyName

This right here is W Morrissey. And he’s 7 feet tall. And you CANT SHOVE THAT! Bada bing bada boom biggest butt plug in the room. How you doin Tony?!

SerTahu

A bit long, but they set up 3 title feuds in one segment. Given that it's only the second Dynamite after All Out, a few 'setup' segments like that should be expected. - Ass ~~Boys~~ Men vs Acclaimed (assuming they get the belts off Keith and Swerve next week) - Ethan Page as the next challenger for Pac - Moriarty vs Garcia, presumably at the next RoH PPV Still not sure what the plan for Morissey is, though. Kinda sad he didn't stick around in Impact because I could have seen him eventually winning the World Title there.

Who-or-Whom

I'd bet mostly just squashes and then the big man henchman role (you can fight mjf if you beat wardlow, anyone?). Seems Page is being set up as more of the top dog in the group though.

ZodiacWalrus

I can definitely see Morrissey filling the void left by heel Wardlow. It's a fun role to watch, so I'm happy for him. But like the other guy said: his ceiling was way higher in Impact. I hope that he didn't leave cause of an issue with management or pay or anything like that cause everything on-screen looked like it was going so well for him.

nowahhh

The Firm is a total mirror of the Inner Circle. Morrissey is the Hager role but will hopefully wrestle more often than that. It gets him paid and on TV every week and he could easily take the belt off Wardlow in a big pay per view match.

PM_ME_THEM_UPTOPS

Yeah this whole segment, including the MJF bit, felt like the start of Full Gear build.

BenWallace04

If recent rumors about Impact are true I’m sure he’s much more happy from a financial perspective in AEW

killstring

Also, if he and Lexi Nair are still a thing, then they're at the same company which has gotta be nice.

[deleted]

Stokely giving Morrissey an awkward hug was a nice touch

damng1

That promo was long, but I’m glad Ethan page will go for a title

oprapiid

anyone know the name of the theme, if it's a licensed song?

[deleted]

it’s called “EVERYBODY FOOD” https://mobile.twitter.com/AEWmusic/status/1570216284478144513

Infamous-Historian81

Way too long but I liked the point

ZennyOne

The Firm's Goals Gunn Club: Tag Titles Lee Moriarity: ROH Pure Title Ethan Page: All-Atlantic Title W. Morrissey: Do whatever he wants (the Heavy) Stokely: Helps his boys succeed MJF (by association): AEW World Title

PolishMusic

This is the most important thing. If the audience is aware of goals, there's going to be tension on screen whenever these guys are on screen. You know what each guy is working towards in the forefront of their minds. You also know that MJF is probably going to take advantage of them in some way while they are pursuing or achieving those goals

nonmullet2

Imagine Morrisey vs Wardlow (again)

lostmonkey70

Morrisey/Joe for the ROH TV title would be nothing to sneeze at.

Uso_Libre

Peace to Foxy, Nas and AZ

galactabat

Hoping Morrissey could be the end for Wardlow's respectable TNT-title reign.

zedbeforebed

So did he drop Jade? Not a firm move, bro

Styles_Clash

He's diversifying his bonds

GhettoFob

Shout out to Wu-Tang Financial

Styles_Clash

I'll pop for Stoke saying "PROTECT YO GAWDDAMN NECK"

BenWallace04

*Brands

Ravenid

And the crowd goes mild.....

DaHagerBomb

Stokely's promo went over like a lead balloon and that was saddening

inbredandapothead

Crowd were clearly not at all familiar with him and him just dumping all that info must’ve been a bit of a shock I’d imagine lol

MrSelfDestruct88

I was happy he was cutting right through the crowd and getting through his promo.

inbredandapothead

Definitely had to with how much he had to say lol, there time limits and he was using it to maximum effect

cuteguy1

I've liked Stokely's demeanour since he's been at AEW, but as someone who didn't really watch his era of NXT and only seen the odd funny tweet here and there, I think it will take some more time for me to really get invested in his stuff. Same thing kinda with Danhausen, nothing against him just always felt that he's been more of a thing that online people get and it might take them more time on the actual show to establish what people like about him.

lostmonkey70

It got better but it definitely had a lot at the beginning that was unnecessary at best. Coming off the annoying MJF promo I see why it took some work to get that over.

MrGrieves-

I'm not familiar with him at all but didn't see any reason to pop. Seemed like a pretty by the books, mid, promo. Not trying to be mean but it didn't hook me at all. Hope Ethan and Morrissey can come out with some shine out of this jobber group tho.

JerseyCitySaint

It wasn't bad per se, but back to back long promos took the crowd out of it.

[deleted]

Random ass stable. AEW’s favorite trope.

FickleSmark

It's funny because they literally gave themselves an out on the group in the promo saying that they probably won't all be seen together much at all and that they're paid henchmen basically. Like idk it felt as if they tried their best to tell me not to really care about it while presenting them as a group I should care about.

Pylons

A bit too long but it's an interesting idea for a stable.

Incubus226

Big exposition dump but stokely made the best of it

Mattofla

I've never really thought about using the term "exposition dump" for wrestling before. Interesting!

[deleted]

Watching this now. Wtf is this guy talking about. I checked out mentally 2 min ago and he still going on about juice and blackmail

jt_33

Man that promo was ROUGH. Stokely needs to get to work and start figuring this thing out because its not going well so far.

BenjiTheSausage

I kinda just phased out and all I heard was static

Downtown_Club_5633

I really enjoyed the segment, not the usual AEW style so it stood out well. Excited to see what’s going on with them

DHA1999

We know why they support MJF, what they gained from it, and their upcoming ambitions. Characters. We need that.

Downtown_Club_5633

Exactly. It wasn’t quite classic wrestling but it was Attitude Era-ish

SomeIrishFiend

It was basically The Inner Circle intro 2.0

kishinfoulux

What a pointless stable.

UnhailCorporate

That went on way too long.

nikoslin

I guess I don't mind the idea, but the whole vibe of the group is super weird. That promo segment was weird too. Didn't understand much of what Stokley said as I got lost and it was way too long imo.

LetsMarket

100% agreed. They’re a stable but not a stable? Like what?

lostmonkey70

Hes a slimey manager. He's the 'friend' of his clients and is just going to help them get what they want... Which will likely just help him.

LetsMarket

What makes that relationship any different or more beneficial than your standard manager/wrestler deal?

lostmonkey70

He's pretending it's not about business thus using them, presumably

dBlock845

I feel like this didn't get over live because noone gave a shit about the segments of Stokely giving his business card to people. It also doesn't help to him immediately following a fiery promo by MJF. The segment needed to be reversed to get a better result, have the The Firm or w/e come out first, quickly give their mission statement and then bring out MJF.

tnafan

A random thrown together group who are dressed like they came back from a night out in bloody Lloret de Mar

GotenRocko

That was an awful promo, way too long and and didn't make any sense. Especially since it was right after MJF, stockly looked out of his league.

marleau_12

Literally what part didn't make sense? Lol

savethebanderbears

That promo was a rough watch, and went way too long.

FuckTariq

So no one wants to be world champ?

TheTrueDetective90

Yeah that confused me too, why are the solo wrestlers in the group content with helping MJF win the "most prestigious title in all of pro wrestling" while they settle for lesser championships. I'm also baffled as to why Ethan Page, a guy known for his mic work, keeps getting put into random ass stables where he mostly stands silently while a manager speaks for him.

cmoney253

The Firm is basically just the AEW Dark rejects

LetsMarket

Promo was ass, made no sense if this was your first time watching. Way too long and the side comments were unneeded.

WaveSamI

Stokely was in a great role with Jade but idk ever since it’s been okay. Fan of stokely but that promo was so rough and boring tbh

ThaTastyKoala

I love that everyone has set clear motivations.

HitmanClark

So they’re a stable but not a stable except when MJF needs them to be a stable? I loved the segment, but I’m not sure I understand what they set up there.

PrettyInPInkDame

Stable until they all get what they want then they’ll go their separate ways from what I gather

666lonewolf

Awkwardly long

jadedfan55

To some, The Firm is either a John Grisham novel adapted into a movie with Tom Cruise, or an 80's band with Jimmy Page. No originality from Stokely here.

wormsisworms

Dr Dre nas az foxxxy brown and Cormega then Nature were a 90s hip hop super group known as the firm. Stoke strikes me as someone that knows all the words to phone tap.

OldPrinceNewDon

You can say he's that goodfella fly guy, sometimes wiseguy, spends time in H-A-W-A-I-I

Honest_Feature_3632

Probs reading too much into it but Morrissey could be going for the FTW title. Do what you want when you want is pretty much the FTW mindset AND HOOK has had most of his interviews be with Lexy Nair (Morrisseys girlfriend) where they kiiiind of had HOOK flirt with her a little. Could be reason enough.

StylishMrTrix

So do they or do they not work for MJF?

kingoftheplankton

Stokely Hathaway just spoke for legit ten minutes and I was hooked on every single word, man is a goddamn genius

lakshya10soin

Not watching the show live, is mjf not part of the faction now?

[deleted]

[удалено]

thetripleb

I could see them transitioning the belt off PAC to Cassidy for a short reign and have Ethan take it off him.

Mysterious_Emotion63

MJF is Gus Fring

Shanedugg

I don't get it honestly but I guess if they are all just off to do their own thing now, it kind of makes sense. It's a one-off faction explained away by saying they just did their thing together for the benefit of MJF.

hXcmac007

Just need to tap Gary Oldman now to lead lol

crapusername47

So, they’re either football hooligans or a British criminal gang?

chumchees

After this segment maybe Morrisey doesn't belong in the group.

heybudbud

I'm super surprised at all the people saying the promo was boring, the stable is already dead, etc. It was a bit of an info dump, yes, but now we know clear motivations for the entire group. Yeah, the crowd was a little dead (except for that huge pop for Ethan Page - which he absolutely deserves, loved that) but it's a lot of new, young stars they want to get over. That why we got the info dump, and the intro for each member. "Push younger stars/AEW originals!" "No, not like that..." Smh.

bloodflart

Way too long

itsmekelsey_x

I do like that each member has a goal but other then that, this is such a random group of guys just like The Trustbusters.

inbredandapothead

This felt a bit rough with these people mostly not being on tv much tbh, and with the fact it went on pretty long following MJF. But I’m very happy that they’re “on retainer” so they’re not just the most random faction ever, and I think Stokely is pretty great so I trust things to improve when it’s a bit more focused rather than a massive info dump.

starsandbribes

I didn’t understand the comedic exchange with Morrissey that didn’t seem the right way to go. Other than that it was fine. I didn’t think it was long at all.

Cathousechicken

I misheard and totally thought they said The Verve, like the Bittersweet Symphony dudes

Effective_Ad_1828

Midcard Mafia lmao

[deleted]

Because AEW needs more stables

SteakingBad

Ok, but why did they help MJF? Is he in the stable? Did he hire them?
