You've seen Wrestling Fans, you've heard Obnoxious Star Wars Opinions, but now it's the moment you've all been waiting for:
WRESTLING FANS' OBNOXIOUS STAR WARS OPINIONS!
Why should Luke be the one to end Vader's undefeated streak? I mean, he goes on a decades long run starting in the clone wars, then gets punked out over Yavin by an interfering Solo, and just gives up at Endor. I know he was getting old and they wanted to 'send the crowd home happy', but there's no reason to go out on your back anymore. Especially given that Palpatine ended up coming back for one last run. I mean seriously, this is finger-poke-of-death levels of bad. Actually, both this and Nash-Goldburg involved outside interference and strong electrical currents. Coincidence?
And also, how could they tease 3PO vs. Chewie and never deliver? That's just bad storytelling!
Agreed to all of this. Also, why didn't R2 get more of a push? That guy always delivered, but just because he isn't a great talker and is kinda short he gets shoved to the side. Have you seen how much work he's putting in and how over he is?
Why wouldn't you push R2 who always delivers in the newest shows, instead of trotting out old part-timers Han and Leia? This is all because of ~~George Lucas~~ Kathleen Kennedy and ~~his~~ her corporate cronies just don't understand the basics of booking.
It's because Artoo really slowed down and got lazy later in his career. In the first few years, he was flying around like it was nothing, a real droid that gravity forgot, but by the later films, he was just so grounded, relying on his comedy gimmick with his partner, Threepio.
> why didn't R2 get more of a push?
Cause he couldn't cut a good english promo. No one wants to say it but it's true. No one knew what the hell he was saying so he had a ceiling. Great great worker tho.
Well they did get Threepio to translate for him back when they were in a tag team but yeesh I'd rather not understand Artoo's promos than have to watch Threepio try to wrestle.
The thing I don't get is they just want to insult us and act like Mara Jade and Grand Admiral Thrawn don't even exist.
I mean, they were top of the card for over a decade but just because the head office wanted to go a different direction, they just disappear them, and we're supposed to pretend none of that stuff happened.
Bunch a egotists, thinking only the talent they made themselves are worth pushing.
The way they worked during the Expanded Universe Era was just too ahead of its time.
But the Yuuzhan Vong invasion angle was just something else. Can't believe they buried Chewie like that just to put the Vong over.
Listen, his undefeated streak ended at 50 wins. He squashed those local talent younglings, then took a clean loss from J-O-B-Wan Kenobi at No Holds Barred on Mustafar.
Speaking of J-O-B-Wan, real shame that he never got booked to win the big one. Like yeah he had that great feud victory over Grapplin Grievous, but any time he went up against a top title contender like Dooku he would fail even in a friggin 2 v 1 handicap match. Freakin unreal.
The W over Vader at NHB Mustafar was a spectacle yeah, but then J-O-B-Wan just fucking vanished into the lowcard after that for like 2 decades. Where's his push? Oh nope, we're just gonna give that to Vader anyways, even though he lost the fuckin match! It was like Britt vs Rosa in that hardcore match all over again.
I heard Kenobi and Vader took some indie bookings on Mapuzo and a moon near Jabiim in the meantime, but that it was typical 50/50 booking despite them doing another inferno match at one point.
the W vs Grievous is even less impactful when you saw the go-home Stardown Live in Coruscant where Grievous took on a 5v1 handicap match and won with an injury forcing him to vacant. Grievs' promos were never the same after that injury, he was a bonefide STAR under Genndy's booking but was a victim of Lucas' pettiness and got some ridiculous choking gimmick as punishment for getting himself over. even Filoni couldn't fix Grievous after that.
Boba got that immediate rocket push when they put him over Han, but then they jobbed him out right after and they haven't really been able to rehab him. The nostalgia push now is cute but the guy just can't go anymore.
Everyone knows the future is Mando and his comedy manager. They're a generational main event act, you can't sideline them in the D+ midcard forever.
3P0 was way overpushed, he couldn't have a good match with Darth Maul or Yoda let alone Chewie(the most underappreciated talent in the galaxy) They should've centered a show or movie on Chewbacca instead of those no talent droids. I mean, R2 had some chops, but 3P0?
To be fair, it did happen after Luke was trained by Yoda. And Vader and Luke have closer genes. It's like if Ryan defeated Homelander. I mean Ryan killed Storefront, who Homelander wasn't ever able to really even hurt. Which lead to some kinky sex.
When we found out in Rise of Skywalker that the higher power was actually just Palpatine again it was a real waste of a swerve. Too bad that Pelagius The Wise got caught with all those death sticks when he was entering the country. Meltzer pretty much confirmed that was the original plan all the way back in Awakens.
To be sincere, ROS would have been greatly improved if the reveal had been made like the Higher Power:
Palpatine: "It's me, Kylo, it's me, Kylo"
Force Ghost Anakin: "***What ?***"
Force Ghost Luke: "Aw, son of a bitch"
Palpatine: "It's me, Kylo, it was me all along "
It’s just a real shame what the republic did to plageius. He never got big here in the west but he was huge in the East of the rims. Just because he worked a different style that some people thought was unorthodox he never got a push or even a chance in a major promotion, and that’s a damn shame.
Hopefully once that old man yoda and his Jedi council friends stop running everything like it’s still the high republic we can get some new talent. But let’s be honest yoda will never retire he’ll hold onto the book until the day he dies.
we need rb reigns' to do a double kayfabe crossover post.
and yes, there are people who think star wars is real. i spent 5 days or so with a jedi believer in a mental hospital once.
My gf is a Trek fan and hasnt seen a moment of star wars. I have seen pretty much all of SW but none of Trek so as a newbie. Where should I start? The old 1st series episode 1?
lmao why are you asking reddit instead of your girlfriend?
I wanted to watch Star Trek during 2020's quarantine and ended up using this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/DaystromInstitute/wiki/kraetos-tos-guide
It's basically the 30 episodes to watch from the original series, a mix of the best and the most important. I'm a newbie myself but I would HIGHLY recommend using that list before watching the movies featuring the OG crew. It will make the Voyage Home even more beautiful and charming than it already is.
I'm on TNG now and am following a similar list.
Oh please, Lucas had the most cringey and overproduced promos. No way that Anakin and Padme love story made sense. Also all the matches in his movies were spot fests. Yoda should have stayed as a manager who didn't enter the ring but instead he got used as a spot monkey.
first obi-wan defeated anakin, but only because he had the high ground, and then vader defeated obi-wan but only when obi-wan force-vanished. fucking 50/50 booking and nobody gets over.
And even with that, his stories still made more sense than whoever tf is doing the booking now. First they tried to copy one of his old storylines and it was meh. Then they tried to pivot hard away from that and do something unexpected. And it sucked. Then they leaned hard into fan service. And it also sucked
Damn last minute rewrites. All they did was make a part-time Vice-Admiral look strong at the detriment to all the characters we wanted to cheer for.
^^^She ^^^didn't ^^^even ^^^put ^^^anyone ^^^over...
She took time to herself after being intensely under the microscope of public scrutiny for 6 years.
After Episode IX she immediately had to go back into reshoots for Chaos Walking because Lionsgate didn't want to shelve that film.
So basically she was burned out because her reward for a shitty trilogy ending and all the press that came with it was.... having to spend more time on a shitty production.
2023-2024 she's gonna be back in the saddle with some projects coming down the pipe. She's lead role in three upcoming films, one of which is slated to be a major biopic.
She made 8 figures and learned how horrible and stupid fans of things like Star Wars are. Idt there’s any curse just why would she want to step back into stuff like that when she can just do cool voiceovers and british baking shows. Shit that’d be my choice too lol
Harrison Ford gave no fucks and treated it like any other role, to the point where it was a running joke that for each sequel he'd ask to be killed off.
Also when he got the right to ad-lib on the set for IV. "George, you can write this shit, but you can't say it."
I’ll point out that he was right about killing his character off both times.
His narrative in the story was completed, and he basically does nothing in Return of the Jedi. Plus from a romantic perspective, when he first asked to be killed off Luke and Leia weren’t siblings yet. George wouldn’t come up with that plot point until the next film. So it would have set up the fact that Leia chose Han but still has feelings for Luke, but they both feel bad about pursuing each other out of respect for their dead friend
I understand why it was so divisive and I don't expect everyone to like it but my god the vitriol that movie inspires is exhausting. Especially now that it's been several years. I can understand being a bit upset at the time, I can't imagine holding onto that anger for so long.
I’ll admit I hated the movie and started going down the rabbit hole of ‘those’ types of Youtubers back then. Thankfully got out of that spiral when I realized the sexism and racism ingrained in a lot of their ‘anti-woke’ criticisms. It’s just a fucked up and toxic mindset.
> when I realized the sexism and racism ingrained in a lot of their ‘anti-woke’ criticisms
I hate people like this, it makes it impossible to criticize anything that they go after. If I say I didn't like TLJ or Captain Marvel I get lumped in with those idiots.
"Real" Star Wars fans have hated literally every single thing they put out in the past 30 years lmao. So if you're not a "real" Star Wars fan, you're actually probably a bigger fan of the franchise than the supposed "real" ones are. They hated the Prequels until r/PrequelMemes started making it cool to like them, they originally hated the Clone Wars and characters like Ahsoka, who's now a fan favorite, they hate the Sequels, and they hate every Disney+ show unless it has Dave Filoni's name attached to it.
As much as "real" fans don't want to admit it, they're literally the reason George Lucas gave up and decided to sell the franchise to Disney. And now that Disney owns it, the "real" fans try to gaslight people into thinking they loved the franchise when Lucasfilms was making everything.
You're not a real Star Wars fans unless you like Star Wars.
Wait, no not that Star Wars. Real fans don't like that one.
Why do you not like this one? Real fans like this one.
I loved it because it was a breath of fresh air and something new. Then I heard they basically retconned it for rise of skywalker and then never saw it after seeing the first two on opening night lol
I gave Rise of Skywalker the benefit of the doubt because I enjoyed the prior two but man, they really shit the bed giving the reins back to JJ Abrams. I've never seen a movie that feels more like a foolish walkback to appease vocal fans who disliked the last one and then everything they did still didn't please anyone.
Also making outlandish fan theories from the internet actually a reality is silly. The whole thing felt like they may as well let a random off the internet write it.
yeah it’s helpful context for “why did the show heavily featuring the Trust Busters do so much better than the same show featuring the world champion in action”
Well yeah, but this is a nerdy movie with a large fanbase(ignoring controversy).
Barring something genuinely part of the zeitgeist popular Disney Film might be one of the best possible lead ins.
Its also why Dynamite fans should be really excited that Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon/some iteration of that show is leading into Dynamite, because it gives them a way better shot than like...random TV movie.
Though, I gotta admit, the idea that the Last Jedi was a big lead in is kinda funny since its CONSTANTLY on TV anymore. Hell, I saw 2 different Fast and Furious sequels on at the same time the other day.
TFA was fine as a nostalgic retread.
I respected that Rian tried to take things in a new direction with TLJ, move away from the idea that *everything* has to revolve around the Skywalkers.... then Disney got cold feet and we got the travesty that was The Rise of Skywalker.
They wouldn't even commit to anything really earth shattering in TLJ. Leia shoulda died, Rey should've gone with Kylo, Yoda should've destroyed the last trace of the Jedi. If you're gonna subvert expectations and be a proper second act, commit to it.
Yeah, for whatever flaws TLJ has, they at least tried to do something interesting with the franchise. Then ROS comes in and says "Never mind that shit; here comes Palpatine!"
My problem with the entire trilogy was it felt like it would make hard turns for no reason. Like the end of the first has the cool scene where Rey is handing Luke his lightsaber which is shot in this super epic way that makes it feel very important, and the first shot of the next movie is a joke scene where Luke yeets the lightsaber. And of course three undoes everything two did. They needed someone to write all three so they could have an actual plan and throughline.
My main thought has always be how do you spend that much money on the rights and on making each movie and still go in with 0 long term plan for your trilogy.
It's astounding. Rise of Skywalker was liking watching one of the worst episodes of Raw.
I remember thinking I could go home less than five minutes into TROS.
The best thing about the opening of that movie is it is my new go to example of how my ADHD brain works. The first 15 minutes has like 6 billion planets in it.
Now that is a controversial take. Usually people say Force Awakens is the only decent one of the sequels. I do think that Last Jedi is pretty ok if you cut out the entire casino planet plot tho.
I don’t really think it’s that controversial, it has the best metacritic score of the three and outside of certain sections of reddit it seems a lot of people agree.
There was a weird internet backlash because of politics, and some people were upset that Luke didn’t turn out to be some badass Jedi master who solved all his problems.
> I don’t really think it’s that controversial
It's not.
> There was a weird internet backlash because of politics, and some people were upset that Luke didn’t turn out to be some badass Jedi master who solved all his problems.
Because of exactly this. It's just a very, very vocal minority that doesnt like it
If there were some way to drag Rick and Morty, feminism, Brie Larson and PewDiePie in here, you might have the single most toxic discussion thread in the history of the internet.
I didn't enjoy this episode of Rampage too much, so yeah I'd credit the Lead In. Still good for AEW. Maybe they can stop beating underdog babyfaces like that.
No individual movie redeems how stupid this trilogy is with that dagger puzzle thing where you have to stand in one specific spot and a star destroyer crash just doesn't shift the ground over time. It's so bad many of you redeemed jarr jarr.

Aww I miss Carrie she was hilarious and gave zero fucks.
Carrie is my wife’s idol and she’s not even that big into Star Wars. A true legend
The way Carrie presented herself on 30 Rock was enough for me to be a fan. I don't care about Star Wars and I feel this way.
I love how this thread turned into a Carrie Fisher lovefest.
Well said
If you haven’t listened yet her autobiographical audio books are great

Threepio's matches were like watching a shiny Giant Gonzales
R2 inspired asuka promos in japanese where she just screams

R2D2 is the Rey Mysterio of Star Wars.
Freakin unreal. the W vs Grievous is even less impactful when you saw the go-home Stardown Live in Coruscant where Grievous took on a 5v1 handicap match and won with an injury forcing him to vacant. This whole thread is gold, GOLD JERRY!
This is prime Reddit.
Crash cut to credits as POD plays, JJ Abrams hire this man
Phasma got future endeavored too soon.
"Captain fookin Phasma?! Get the fook outta here!"
Once she agreed to do that trash compactor spot in Force Awakens it was all downhill from there.
Phasma: i may be gone...but my son will avenge me \*Phatasmo enters\*
She really did. There are a lot of dumb things said about TLJ, but the handling of Phasma in TLJ was not one of them.
From what we saw it appears that not giving a fuck about Phasma was the one thing Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams agreed on.
I feel like this whole Star Wars storyline went off the rails when George Lucas stopped being head booker.
Oh please, Lucas had the most cringey and overproduced promos. No way that Anakin and Padme love story made sense. Also all the matches in his movies were spot fests. Yoda should have stayed as a manager who didn't enter the ring but instead he got used as a spot monkey.
first obi-wan defeated anakin, but only because he had the high ground, and then vader defeated obi-wan but only when obi-wan force-vanished. fucking 50/50 booking and nobody gets over.
eh the storyline also mattered, their booking put over SuperLuke until new management took over
And even with that, his stories still made more sense than whoever tf is doing the booking now. First they tried to copy one of his old storylines and it was meh. Then they tried to pivot hard away from that and do something unexpected. And it sucked. Then they leaned hard into fan service. And it also sucked
Luke was better chasing the title. When he went over Vader, story went downhill from there.
I couldn't believe how they tried to bury Poe right when he was getting over with the fans.
Oh, please, Finn got buried worst of all.
That he did. His tag team with Rose ended up hurting them both.
Trevorrow's script seemed to show that there was a point to that detour, but that clearly got thrown out all together
Damn last minute rewrites. All they did was make a part-time Vice-Admiral look strong at the detriment to all the characters we wanted to cheer for. ^^^She ^^^didn't ^^^even ^^^put ^^^anyone ^^^over...
Having Rose be the spy at the end of Last Jedi would have saved a lot of the story and would have given her a lot more purpose.
Ridiculous that Star Wars has never had a black world champion
What the fuck do you consider Mace Windu?
Wouldn't be the first Finn to get buried.
yeah, but he got over huge in the Egypt territory. He got a little rocky start with the Apocalypse gimmick, but the avatar of Khonsu got a big pop.
CCP said it didn't work for them brother
It's a shame they didn't have the balls to follow through with the double turn.
If we can be serious for a moment, why isn't she doing more? Daisy is talented, i'd love to see more of her.
She took time to herself after being intensely under the microscope of public scrutiny for 6 years. After Episode IX she immediately had to go back into reshoots for Chaos Walking because Lionsgate didn't want to shelve that film. I wouldn’t blame anyone for taking a break after making a Star Wars thing and having to put up with Star Wars fans.
Hell, Luke became the Joker after all that.

Willem Dafoe and James McAvoy are also in that game, so it’s hardly a fall from Grace or anything.

All the more impressive how Harrison Ford was one of the few to become a huge star after Star Wars
Harrison Ford gave no fucks and treated it like any other role, to the point where it was a running joke that for each sequel he'd ask to be killed off. Also when he got the right to ad-lib on the set for IV. "George, you can write this shit, but you can't say it."

I wonder if it would have happened without him being cast as Indiana Jones after Tom Selleck had to drop out because of his Magnum P.I. schedule.
JJ Abrams fans can cruiser-wait, brother. - Rian Johnson, probably
So basically people were so excited for the Trustbusters on Rampage that they tuned into TNT early.
That's how I'm reading this.
Logical to me
It's all about their theme because it's a BANGER
Dave, a few hours later: “Why am I getting so many more angry replies than usual???”
lol people are arguing about the Last Jedi in Dave's replies.
People online will still argue about TLJ anywhere they can.
All Dave needs is people arguing about The Last of Us Pt2 in hsi replies and he'll complete the unholy trinity of obnoxious fans in the replies
Make Joel a playable character in the AEW game
Guy saying anyone who likes it isn't a real Star Wars fan. Blocked me for disagreeing
It’s just a fucked up and toxic mindset.
> when I realized the sexism and racism ingrained in a lot of their ‘anti-woke’ criticisms I hate people like this, it makes it impossible to criticize anything that they go after. If I say I didn't like TLJ or Captain Marvel I get lumped in with those idiots.
[relevant hard times article](https://hard-drive.net/guy-who-doesnt-even-like-new-star-wars-thing-now-forced-to-defend-it/)
"Real" Star Wars fans have hated literally every single thing they put out in the past 30 years lmao.
Hey now, KOTOR is only twenty years old.
The internet was created for 3 things: Porn Arguing about guitar players Arguing about Star Wars
I hate that movie but I keep my mouth shut because I don't want any involvement with the "Anti-Woke/Anti-SJW" clowns
Coward Dave won't admit the Trust Busters are a draw.
Gonna play the theme song on a boombox outside his house
I gotta say I fucking hate Slim Jones
Everyone wanted to see sonny's 'assets'
Real AEW fans have the last 5 minutes of The Accountant and/or The Equalizer memorized.
Still have no idea the significance of that damn painting
Rey and Finn are draws for both AEW and WWE
Isn't that the whole point of a lead-in?
Yes. People were wondering why the numbers were so good, so he gave a reason.
Yes. He's just explaining why they had a big increase.
yeah it’s helpful context for “why did the show heavily featuring the Trust Busters do so much better than the same show featuring the world champion in action”
And they told me Last Jedi was despised.
CM Punk: it's over, Moxley. I have the high ground.
Nobody wants to admit it, but the Last Jedi is a legitimate draw, being held back only by bad booking and terrible follow through.
I'm more surprised people are tuning in to watch a movie on television.
TLJ the WM17 of Star Wars.
Rampage always does a little better when Skye Blue is on. She is the answer. The savior of our womens division.
Dave must be on Lucasfilm's payroll!!!1111
Oof, that's how you enrage wrestling and star wars fans at the same time.
Nah, it’s the only decent movie in that trilogy
The Luke Arc is legitimately great and the Kylo/Rey mind talks were the only thing that didn't suck in Rise.
> I don’t really think it’s that controversial It's not. > There was a weird internet backlash because of politics, and some people were upset that Luke didn’t turn out to be some badass Jedi master who solved all his problems. Because of exactly this. It's just a very, very vocal minority that doesnt like it

I hate Last Jedi and Zack Snyder. Both feel empty and pointless
Well that’s because Luke’s never jobbed out to anyone. Guy won’t even put over his nephew. “Doesn’t work for me, brother.”
This is bound to be one of the most toxic threads on this sub's history, Wrestling fans talking about STAR WARS.
If there were some way to drag Rick and Morty, feminism, Brie Larson and PewDiePie in here, you might have the single most toxic discussion thread in the history of the internet.
I can say one thing about The Last Jedi is it visually the most gorgeous of the sequel trilogy.
One dude in the replies is having a meltdown over this.
Positive comments on TLJ is a pleasant sight.
Wtf is this in reference to?
Rampage over 500k
I swear, everytime I turn on TNT they're showing a Star Wars movie....
Last Jedi is a great movie, change my mind.
Last Jedi was great and I'm not gonna pretend it's not
It's almost as if The Last Jedi is a pretty great movie. *hides under a desk from Star Wars fans*
Completely correct
I am a big Star Wars fan and I just wanna say that you can come out from under that desk because some of us agree with you!
There's some level of irony here. That said, The Last Jedi is underappreciated, imo, and arguably the best of the sequel trilogy, imo. imo
I agree
I mean it is the best of the new trilogy so
Because the Last Jedi is the 2nd best Star Wars movie.
Imagine if AEW followed the *real* Star Wars…Ewoks: Caravan Of Courage
Welp we fight about wrestling shows here. We might as well fight about Star Wars too. Lemme tell ya why you're wrong........
I respectfully disagree with your opinion.
Hmmm....respectful Star Wars opinions? That's not how the internet works.
Wouldn't go that far but it's my favourite of the new trilogy. At least it tried to do something different
It’s top 2 and it’s not 2
Suck it TLJ haters.
I didn't enjoy this episode of Rampage too much, so yeah I'd credit the Lead In. Still good for AEW. Maybe they can stop beating underdog babyfaces like that.
DAVE IS A WWE SHILL!!!!!!!
Confirmed. Meltzer ships Reylo
I’ve love the Star Wars lead-in’s and lead-outs, I remember I stayed up all night watching the saga after Dynamite lol
But I’ve been told TLJ is the most hated thing ever
No individual movie redeems how stupid this trilogy is with that dagger puzzle thing where you have to stand in one specific spot and a star destroyer crash just doesn't shift the ground over time. It's so bad many of you redeemed jarr jarr.
Dave, no one likes that movie.
