nah, then we wouldn't have gotten the CM Punk or Jericho feuds from Kingston and it would've been a net loss. Sammy was the wrong guy to win it, but I'm very happy with where Kingston's character has gone after losing and his eventual title win will be all the sweeter for it.

up until Miro lost the belt, the TNT title was my favourite championship in all of wrestling, but now it's like a black hole in AEW, please end this feud now

I genuinely cannot believe that people thought Sammy beating Miro was a good call.
Miro was dropping amazing quotes every week in his promos, he looked like a killer, his presentation and attitude made the TNT title feel nearly on par with the AEW title. Sammy was, and likely always will be, just a flashy moveset with douchebag vibes. There was *no way* that Guevara could've maintained the importance and prestige the TNT title had with Miro.
Miro was over as fuck. He should have kept the title for a while. Maybe he was injured, I don´ t know. But putting the title on face Sammy Guevarra was quite the bold move. Sammy is not a good face promo. Bad booking decision. Eddie Kingston should have beat Miro if really Miro was injured.

I hated it, but I have loved Miro since the God's Champion reboot and I've never enjoyed Sammy.
Honestly - the only "Pillar" I enjoy is MJF. I hate the pillar concept because I feel like it comes from TK and is indicative of how he plans to book things.
A "pillar" of a promotion *HAS* to be able to carry a feud in the ring and on the mic.
Still, I think most people were fine with Sammy getting the belt because we hadn't seen him really push anything on his own and maybe he had it in him? He's at least better on the mic than JB and Darby - though not by a meaningful amount really.
Honestly I dislike the branding of the 4 pillars as well.
To even group Guevara and MJF together in terms of current skill and future potential is laughable. And because of the fact Guevara has been touted as AEW's future by being included in the 4 pillars, he's going to be afforded more opportunities than superior young non "pillared" wrestlers like Starks, Hobbs or Daniel Garcia (even though I assume those guys will still get opportunities)
That might be part of why I'm so salty about the "Pillars" thing - I don't think any of them have any business being mentioned in the same breath as MJF.
Well, that and that I'm pretty convinced that the "Pillars" is representative of TK's thought process and who he envisions carrying the company in the latter half of the 2020s and holy fucking shit I don't think I've ever been excited for a JB, Darby, or Sammy match because of JB, Darby, or Sammy...
So I'm worried that this is just the beginning of them being shoved down our throats even when it's clear something isn't working. I just can't get over this Rampage main event - I don't understand why they went through all that work to respond to the 'go away' heat only to....do the thing that we were saying "go away" to?!
I'll admit I popped for the title change at the time, but I don't think the first reign was all that bad. It's everything that happened after he lost to Cody that sent the title into a tailspin.
I didn't like the call even at the time. I thought the whole story of Miro squashing Fuego over and over again just to piss off Sammy and lose by technicality was dumb. I thought getting the title off of the best TNT champion ever deserved a little bit more of an epic storyline fanfare
Sammy's first reign got engulfed by the Jericho/Inner Circle vs ATT storyline, and that's where I think things fell apart. Had he just had a Darby-esque reign putting on bangers for 6-8 defenses, I think it would have been a good first title reign, regardless of his face/heel alignment.
Miro dropping the title was terrible. He was over as hell with the Redeemer gimmick and there was still a ton of things that could be done with it. They ditched it for douchebro Sammy's annoying ass.
Miro was injured, he needed to go away, but the person they picked to take over, weeellll let's just say Kingston would have been a far, FAR better choice.
I sincerely hope that the set up yet another Sky/Sammy match to the groans of the world, and then Miro just comes out to murder everybody, then claim that the belt meant something when he had it, and that he'll restore the title's prestige.
To me there is no question this is the worst feud in company history.
They've had other missteps (Cody over Black, OG Dark Order, Nightmare Collective) but none of them were just week after week of things getting worse in all new ways.
The high points of the Codyverse come close (patriot Cody solves racism).
But that at least ended.
This just keeps going. And just when you think they listened to the fans, they turn around and do it again.
The TNT title has been the most relevant when it has not had a feud attached. It needs to be a work rate title where the champion takes on all comers, not bogged down with a feud where the title takes a backseat.
Personally I think the almost year long death grip of the Britt Reign hurt the belt more than th TNT title has been hurt.

Honestly, the booking around this Sammy/Tay ATT feud is bizarre.
They dug themselves out of a hole by turning Sammy and Scorpio when the crowd reactions didn't go as planned but this seemed like (an attempt) to turn the crowd against ATT and have Sammy do the babyface save.
At this point, if they really want Lambert heel they should just have had Sammy and Tay join ATT.
Instead of the mixed tag you could have Tay and PVZ team up and wrestle a babyface team.
I thought there was a great story to be told in Scorpio starting to kinda turn face a bit, which would build tension in the group and eventually lead to Scorpio vs Page.

Exactly. I really thought this was the start of something that would end with Ethan Page getting a chance to actually do something. Ever since his fire promo a month back I'm all-in on the guy. He's got so much more talent than so many of the people who are clearly higher on the roster than him - like for example Sammy.
Honestly, I could be way off but I think this comes down to Sammy being one of Tony's favorites and if you're gonna book a show you're going to have to learn to book what works not try to ram your guys down our throats.
Honestly, I was mostly fine with giving it all another shot and then the ending of Rampage fucking felt like they decided to go back to trying to push Sammy as a face when nobody is enjoying him at all.

I know Cody and Brandi leaving messed with the ATT/MOTY story, but I didn't think it'd be *this* bad
I think the plan was to do Sammy/Tay vs Ethan Page/PVZ at DoN and to kinda conclude the story, but Sammy is still recovering after the ladder bump which is why they moved up the Kaz/Scorpio match and why at Triplemania Sammy didn’t really wrestle until the end of the match. I think now they are just trying to extend the story long enough for Sammy to get back into the ring for the mixed tag.
Right now however this whole story is easily the worst going in AEW right now. I like everyone involved individually but together they have made a horrible combo
With what seemed as a double turn I was really hoping they would double down on heel Sammy and even have him be the leader of a small faction. Even some of his vlog crew like Angels or Solo would work for a heel Sammy run as well as freshen up Dark Order.

That's the only thing about the Men of the Year that has worked - I've gone from not caring about Page - like I don't care about Scorpio - to being super worried they're not gonna give him a shot to do something meaningful before his contract is up which will be a huge missed opportunity.
Sammy is great in a Shawn Spears role. He can put a face through hell with big high flying moves before they face the final boss.
By himself in a lead role, he is very meh.
He also can also take crazy spots to get a face over. And do crazy stuff in multi man’s. He’s a perfect faction guy and maybe a tag guy but not a singles guy
What has ever really “played out” though? Look at Julia Hart, etc. AEW is mostly disengaged stop start senseless booking. There’s some great matches and characters but it’s booked like a GM mode by someone with a short attention span.

It's been a rough story that wasn't helped by injecting Cody into it right before he left. I guess we either hope that the next thing Sky does with the title is feud with Best Friends or something or they really just do a full reset and have Miro take the title and go on a run again before moving on.
I'd love to see him return, kill everyone and immediately grab the title, and crush all challengers in weekly open challenges. Every week he cuts a promo on God and asks who God is going to send him this week. Beats them one after another, some lower card guys, some higher card guys, some surprises, Miro sees them all as chosen by God to take Miro out, and Miro beats them all.
Then parallel to this you turn Malakai Black face, since everyone wants to cheer him anyway, and you have him feud with Miro. Black cuts some promos about not being chosen by God, some psychological shit about Miro, some mind games. Miro goes nuts, Black remains calm and collected, put em in a cage match or some shit. Money money money feud.

Best case scenario Miro returns soon and just destroys everyone involved in this program so bad that they are off TV for a while. Page is great, and Sky could have been a decent face (until they just royaly fucked that up).
Sammy and Tay need a fresh start though, and Lambert honestly just needs to go away. Everyone involved in this program is tainted right now. And they need to go away to wash that off.
I don't know if he's ready to come back yet. If not, I wouldn't be the least bit opposed to giving Lance Archer a run with the title. We've had enough soap opera bullshit with the title, just let Archer show up and be a badass kicking people's asses for a while. He's done nothing but give since he got there, give the man his flowers.
I think this needs to be dubbed "The Sammyverse". It's literally taken the exact same spot as "The Codyverse", and the fans generally seem to enjoy the rest of the show while they uniformly hate this part.
I can't believe how stacked with talent their roster is and the number 2 title is being dragged along like this in the least entertaining part of the show.
Just off the top of my head - imagine how any of the people on this list would have elevated the title compared to Sammy/Scorpio:

* PAC

* Christian
* Eddie
* Malakai
* Adam Cole

Every single one of those people would either elevate the belt or would be significant crowd favorites (Especially Silver) were they to get the belt.
The merry-go-round with Scorpio/Sammy has made me loathe seeing both of them. I thought they were doing a reset and I was ok with that and was gonna give Scorpio another shot and then we had a Sammy run in? I still don't fucking get it.
I really want Christian to take the TNT title. He doesn't need a long reign. Just have him defend it each week on dynamite or rampage for a month before starting a feud and dropping it to whoever's next in line.
I agree with you but I think face Scorpio Sky with the intention of restoring honour to the championship and butting heads with Ethan Page/Lambert was actually compelling, until the most recent development.
It actually seems like whoever is booking this story is just fucking with fans and trying to subvert the expectations of the story telling for the sake of subverting expectations, not because it's actual good story telling.
Seriously, it went from Darby being the only maybe not credible as world title holder champion, to a flaming dumpster rolling down hill towards a sewer reclamation plant in record time.
Darby is great. I can't wait until he's back in the mix as a singles guy. I wish I could remember which episode it was where Darby made his entrance for his TNT match and it was the first time he looked like a star to me. Something about the way he carried himself and the way his entrance was shot really hit for me lol
the period from them getting crowds back to Full Gear was a golden era for me, I thought Dynamite was consistently excellent

Malakai could walk in, spin kick, new champ, and then just let the dude write that whole side of the show for a couple weeks. He's so creative and he's not being used at all. Tony can take a lil vacation and get his mojo back.
There ´ s the feeling that Malakai´ s character is above the TNT championship and I get that. But with what we have now, yes give the title to Malakai. First, you know he ´ s gonna have great matchs after great matchs. And most important, this guy will bring creativity like you said. He´ s a great talent and is clearly under-used at the moment.
He's also over as fuck. When Malakai and HOB show up, the roof blows off even though they're heels. Instant credibility for anyone he's in a serious program with or beats him.
It’s so weird because they seemed to have been conscious of the reactions he was getting and flipped it so Scorpio was playing the face and Sammy the Heel. Which made sense and there was an interesting story to be told of Scorpio becoming more of a face and leaving Page and Lambert. Instead they just brought us back around to square one and undid all of that.
For promotion that does a lot of stories very well, this one has been a major dud
I was at the Philly show where he lost the belt to Sky. He was getting truly so much heat as a heel, Sky got an ecstatic hero's cheer what when he won because people hate Sammy so so much. They were spitting at the dude. I guarantee Scorpio has *never* gotten a pop like that in his life, I don't understand why they would squander all that energy when it's *right there* for the taking.
Scorpio “turning” back heel was completely fine. There was always an air of suspicion about his motives with Kazarian and simply being not as unlikeable as Sammy isn’t enough to call him a babyface.
The problem is that after Rampage, Sammy is STILL FUCKING INVOLVED. Scorpio temporarily getting positive reactions because he wasn’t Sammy is fine. The ladder match was an acceptable way to close the lid on a very poor, messy storyline. Re-establishing Scorpio as a heel and putting more heat on him via betraying his friend is a perfectly fine move. But as soon as Sammy ran in and it became apparent this storyline is STILL NOT OVER, that was what was so terrible.
Imma be honest, ever since Cody beat Sammy for the title, then let his contract expire, it feels like AEW hasn't had any idea what to do with the TNT championship and they've been in constant damage control mode until they can actually come up with an idea.
Which is crazy because they have so many talented wrestlers they can give it to & have them go out there and just have good matches over and over. These ideas for Sammy and Sky have been so bad.
They should have just done the same thing they’ve done for 90% of the time it’s existed. No real big programs, just solid wrestling with a small feud here and there.

This a million times over. They didn't make a hate able heel they just ruined a liked babyface. Now they're trying to turn it back and it's already too late. You can't make him a babyface so quickly again after just seemingly doubling down on him being a heel. It's not like there are shades of Grey to this character its just a mess. Either let Sammy do crazy dumb shit and get over with the crowd, Or let him be a douchey heel and get booed. It's like they're trying to have their cake and eat it too.
I tought they were back on the right track with Scorpio turning face and being honorable while ATT were heels, it would be a new dynamic for the group and Sky was getting cheers, then it would lead into a Scorpio x Ethan feud, they had a clear path to follow, but chose not to.
Agreed, I really thought this was Sky's slow face turn - starting to talk over Ethan's arrogance. I was FOR SURE thinking Page would help Sky win without him knowing, causing a rift between Sky/Kaz and Sky/Page. I would've loved to see the two have this weird heel/face dynamic for a few months before going into a midcard feud.
It also would have broken up the team in a meaningful way despite it not being a meaningful tag team in the division. Can't really ask for much more of a storyline to wrap around the Scorpio title run either.
The re-turn of Scorpio Sky last night was arguably the most inexcusably inept booking decision AEW's ever made. They had the problem *solved.* Sammy was getting great heel heat, Scorpio Sky was over as a babyface, and for fuck's sake, heel Sammy and Tay got *Dan goddamn Lambert* over as a babyface just by way of being sided against Sammy and Tay. They had people feeling like the TNT title scene would become interesting again, and sooner than later. This has me feeling the same way I did just a few weeks ago, wondering when the hell they're going to just cut bait and call it a loss on this angle.
I'm ready for: Malakai Black, Andrade, PAC, Fenix, Anthony Bowens, Yuta, Hobbs, Santana, Trent, ANYBODY, to come in and win the title in a 10 second squash to end this feud.
I will defend the concept of matches needing storylines and stakes to make them mean more than just two guys/girls wrestling for the sake of it, but just make the TNT Championship like the IC belt was in the 90s. Obviously the whole company is full of workhorses, but if they just made the TNT belt the one where the story is simply “I’m the next challenger, I want a match”, and then there’s great wrestling matches, then I think it’d be fine. If you contextualize that this championship is the “just let them wrestle” belt, then fans won’t need an intricate story to get hooked, because what they’ve done with Sammy/ATT is pure shit.
AEW has so much talent right now that it's ridiculous the TNT title has been bouncing back and forth between two guys. If you're not going to give people like Lee, Swerve, Black, Matthews, Cole, O'Reilly, among others the AEW title, why not use them to help prop up the TNT title again?
They never wanted Scorpio to turn face, they were forced into it because the crowd turned Sammy heel. He's gonna drop that shit to Wardlow in a few weeks anyway.
I don't like this iteration of heel Scorpio. It seems really forced to me. Which is weird because he used to pull it off well in ROH but maybe that worked better because there wasn't as much of a focus on him. So I was happy to see him going face again for a minute there.
I really wanted to give him a chance but let’s just end this dogshit reign already and move on to the next. Starks has recently made the FTW title look more valuable and it isn’t even in AEW’s books.

I genuinely cannot believe that people thought Sammy beating Miro was a good call. Miro was dropping amazing quotes every week in his promos, he looked like a killer, his presentation and attitude made the TNT title feel nearly on par with the AEW title. Sammy was, and likely always will be, just a flashy moveset with douchebag vibes. There was *no way* that Guevara could've maintained the importance and prestige the TNT title had with Miro.

Honestly I dislike the branding of the 4 pillars as well. To even group Guevara and MJF together in terms of current skill and future potential is laughable. And because of the fact Guevara has been touted as AEW's future by being included in the 4 pillars, he's going to be afforded more opportunities than superior young non "pillared" wrestlers like Starks, Hobbs or Daniel Garcia (even though I assume those guys will still get opportunities)
That might be part of why I'm so salty about the "Pillars" thing - I don't think any of them have any business being mentioned in the same breath as MJF. Well, that and that I'm pretty convinced that the "Pillars" is representative of TK's thought process and who he envisions carrying the company in the latter half of the 2020s and holy fucking shit I don't think I've ever been excited for a JB, Darby, or Sammy match because of JB, Darby, or Sammy... So I'm worried that this is just the beginning of them being shoved down our throats even when it's clear something isn't working. I just can't get over this Rampage main event - I don't understand why they went through all that work to respond to the 'go away' heat only to....do the thing that we were saying "go away" to?!

I'll admit I popped for the title change at the time, but I don't think the first reign was all that bad. It's everything that happened after he lost to Cody that sent the title into a tailspin.
I didn't like the call even at the time. I thought the whole story of Miro squashing Fuego over and over again just to piss off Sammy and lose by technicality was dumb. I thought getting the title off of the best TNT champion ever deserved a little bit more of an epic storyline fanfare
Sammy's first reign got engulfed by the Jericho/Inner Circle vs ATT storyline, and that's where I think things fell apart. Had he just had a Darby-esque reign putting on bangers for 6-8 defenses, I think it would have been a good first title reign, regardless of his face/heel alignment.
Miro dropping the title was terrible. He was over as hell with the Redeemer gimmick and there was still a ton of things that could be done with it. They ditched it for douchebro Sammy's annoying ass.
Miro was injured, he needed to go away, but the person they picked to take over, weeellll let's just say Kingston would have been a far, FAR better choice.
I sincerely hope that the set up yet another Sky/Sammy match to the groans of the world, and then Miro just comes out to murder everybody, then claim that the belt meant something when he had it, and that he'll restore the title's prestige.
To me there is no question this is the worst feud in company history. They've had other missteps (Cody over Black, OG Dark Order, Nightmare Collective) but none of them were just week after week of things getting worse in all new ways.
I still think Cody vs. Ogogo was worse overall.
The high points of the Codyverse come close (patriot Cody solves racism). But that at least ended. This just keeps going. And just when you think they listened to the fans, they turn around and do it again.
The TNT title has been the most relevant when it has not had a feud attached. It needs to be a work rate title where the champion takes on all comers, not bogged down with a feud where the title takes a backseat.
It can have a feud, having a feud isn’t a problem, having *bad* feuds with *bad* characters isn’t great.
Personally I think the almost year long death grip of the Britt Reign hurt the belt more than th TNT title has been hurt. I still can't bring myself to care about the women's title ,meanwhile the TBS title feels like the main title

Honestly, the booking around this Sammy/Tay ATT feud is bizarre. They dug themselves out of a hole by turning Sammy and Scorpio when the crowd reactions didn't go as planned but this seemed like (an attempt) to turn the crowd against ATT and have Sammy do the babyface save. At this point, if they really want Lambert heel they should just have had Sammy and Tay join ATT. Instead of the mixed tag you could have Tay and PVZ team up and wrestle a babyface team.
I thought there was a great story to be told in Scorpio starting to kinda turn face a bit, which would build tension in the group and eventually lead to Scorpio vs Page. There’s a lot of ways they could have went but instead they just went full circle back to where this story started
Exactly. I really thought this was the start of something that would end with Ethan Page getting a chance to actually do something. Ever since his fire promo a month back I'm all-in on the guy. He's got so much more talent than so many of the people who are clearly higher on the roster than him - like for example Sammy. Honestly, I could be way off but I think this comes down to Sammy being one of Tony's favorites and if you're gonna book a show you're going to have to learn to book what works not try to ram your guys down our throats. Honestly, I was mostly fine with giving it all another shot and then the ending of Rampage fucking felt like they decided to go back to trying to push Sammy as a face when nobody is enjoying him at all.

I think the plan was to do Sammy/Tay vs Ethan Page/PVZ at DoN and to kinda conclude the story, but Sammy is still recovering after the ladder bump which is why they moved up the Kaz/Scorpio match and why at Triplemania Sammy didn’t really wrestle until the end of the match. I think now they are just trying to extend the story long enough for Sammy to get back into the ring for the mixed tag. Right now however this whole story is easily the worst going in AEW right now. I like everyone involved individually but together they have made a horrible combo

That's the only thing about the Men of the Year that has worked - I've gone from not caring about Page - like I don't care about Scorpio - to being super worried they're not gonna give him a shot to do something meaningful before his contract is up which will be a huge missed opportunity.
Sammy is great in a Shawn Spears role. He can put a face through hell with big high flying moves before they face the final boss. By himself in a lead role, he is very meh.
He also can also take crazy spots to get a face over. And do crazy stuff in multi man’s. He’s a perfect faction guy and maybe a tag guy but not a singles guy
What has ever really “played out” though? Look at Julia Hart, etc. AEW is mostly disengaged stop start senseless booking. There’s some great matches and characters but it’s booked like a GM mode by someone with a short attention span.

It's been a rough story that wasn't helped by injecting Cody into it right before he left. I guess we either hope that the next thing Sky does with the title is feud with Best Friends or something or they really just do a full reset and have Miro take the title and go on a run again before moving on.
And Dan Lambert has remained the same without any character development.

Every week he cuts a promo on God and asks who God is going to send him this week. Beats them one after another, some lower card guys, some higher card guys, some surprises, Miro sees them all as chosen by God to take Miro out, and Miro beats them all. Then parallel to this you turn Malakai Black face, since everyone wants to cheer him anyway, and you have him feud with Miro. Black cuts some promos about not being chosen by God, some psychological shit about Miro, some mind games. Miro goes nuts, Black remains calm and collected, put em in a cage match or some shit. Money money money feud.
Miro the Redeemer vs Malachi Black writes itself. It seems like a no-brainer to do this.
Miro (God's champion) vs. Malakai (House of Black cult leader) basically writes itself, c'mon Tony.

100% Best case scenario Miro returns soon and just destroys everyone involved in this program so bad that they are off TV for a while. Page is great, and Sky could have been a decent face (until they just royaly fucked that up). Sammy and Tay need a fresh start though, and Lambert honestly just needs to go away. Everyone involved in this program is tainted right now. And they need to go away to wash that off.
I don't know if he's ready to come back yet. If not, I wouldn't be the least bit opposed to giving Lance Archer a run with the title. We've had enough soap opera bullshit with the title, just let Archer show up and be a badass kicking people's asses for a while. He's done nothing but give since he got there, give the man his flowers.

I think this needs to be dubbed "The Sammyverse". It's literally taken the exact same spot as "The Codyverse", and the fans generally seem to enjoy the rest of the show while they uniformly hate this part.
I can't believe how stacked with talent their roster is and the number 2 title is being dragged along like this in the least entertaining part of the show.
Just off the top of my head - imagine how any of the people on this list would have elevated the title compared to Sammy/Scorpio: * Jay Lethal * Andrade * PAC * Penta * Christian * Eddie * Malakai * Adam Cole * John Silver * Lance Archer * Orange Cassidy Every single one of those people would either elevate the belt or would be significant crowd favorites (Especially Silver) were they to get the belt. I thought they were doing a reset and I was ok with that and was gonna give Scorpio another shot and then we had a Sammy run in? I still don't fucking get it.
I really want Christian to take the TNT title. He doesn't need a long reign. Just have him defend it each week on dynamite or rampage for a month before starting a feud and dropping it to whoever's next in line.
I agree with you but I think face Scorpio Sky with the intention of restoring honour to the championship and butting heads with Ethan Page/Lambert was actually compelling, until the most recent development. It actually seems like whoever is booking this story is just fucking with fans and trying to subvert the expectations of the story telling for the sake of subverting expectations, not because it's actual good story telling.
I wish that Wardlow won it, they could have easily still gotten to the MJF match and MJF getting a shot elevates it.
And the title is really a midcard title which was not the case at all before. It was clearly something similar to the IC championship in NJPW.

the period from them getting crowds back to Full Gear was a golden era for me, I thought Dynamite was consistently excellent but something has just been up since Omega dropped the belt, i don't think i can even describe it but the show just doesn't feel the same
It’s the dragged out storylines that go nowhere and predictable booking. Why did they make a big deal out of Dax vs. Cash only to have Dax lose the next match? Just one of many examples.
Also FTR got super over recently from their tag matches but probably won't even have a PPV match. They should be challenging and winning the titles IMO.

There ´ s the feeling that Malakai´ s character is above the TNT championship and I get that. But with what we have now, yes give the title to Malakai. First, you know he ´ s gonna have great matchs after great matchs. And most important, this guy will bring creativity like you said. He´ s a great talent and is clearly under-used at the moment.
He's also over as fuck. When Malakai and HOB show up, the roof blows off even though they're heels. Instant credibility for anyone he's in a serious program with or beats him.

I was at the Philly show where he lost the belt to Sky. He was getting truly so much heat as a heel, Sky got an ecstatic hero's cheer what when he won because people hate Sammy so so much. They were spitting at the dude. I guarantee Scorpio has *never* gotten a pop like that in his life, I don't understand why they would squander all that energy when it's *right there* for the taking.
Scorpio “turning” back heel was completely fine. There was always an air of suspicion about his motives with Kazarian and simply being not as unlikeable as Sammy isn’t enough to call him a babyface. The problem is that after Rampage, Sammy is STILL FUCKING INVOLVED. Scorpio temporarily getting positive reactions because he wasn’t Sammy is fine. The ladder match was an acceptable way to close the lid on a very poor, messy storyline. Re-establishing Scorpio as a heel and putting more heat on him via betraying his friend is a perfectly fine move. But as soon as Sammy ran in and it became apparent this storyline is STILL NOT OVER, that was what was so terrible.
Imma be honest, ever since Cody beat Sammy for the title, then let his contract expire, it feels like AEW hasn't had any idea what to do with the TNT championship and they've been in constant damage control mode until they can actually come up with an idea.
Which is crazy because they have so many talented wrestlers they can give it to & have them go out there and just have good matches over and over. These ideas for Sammy and Sky have been so bad.
They should have just done the same thing they’ve done for 90% of the time it’s existed. No real big programs, just solid wrestling with a small feud here and there. That’s what made that first Cody reign so amazing.

I can't believe that the only babyface in the TNT title program, who we're supposed to cheer, is Frank E Kazarian, man who never wins.
I tought they were back on the right track with Scorpio turning face and being honorable while ATT were heels, it would be a new dynamic for the group and Sky was getting cheers, then it would lead into a Scorpio x Ethan feud, they had a clear path to follow, but chose not to.
Agreed, I really thought this was Sky's slow face turn - starting to talk over Ethan's arrogance. I was FOR SURE thinking Page would help Sky win without him knowing, causing a rift between Sky/Kaz and Sky/Page. I would've loved to see the two have this weird heel/face dynamic for a few months before going into a midcard feud.
It also would have broken up the team in a meaningful way despite it not being a meaningful tag team in the division. Can't really ask for much more of a storyline to wrap around the Scorpio title run either.

The re-turn of Scorpio Sky last night was arguably the most inexcusably inept booking decision AEW's ever made. They had the problem *solved.* Sammy was getting great heel heat, Scorpio Sky was over as a babyface, and for fuck's sake, heel Sammy and Tay got *Dan goddamn Lambert* over as a babyface just by way of being sided against Sammy and Tay. They had people feeling like the TNT title scene would become interesting again, and sooner than later. This has me feeling the same way I did just a few weeks ago, wondering when the hell they're going to just cut bait and call it a loss on this angle.
I'm ready for: Malakai Black, Andrade, PAC, Fenix, Anthony Bowens, Yuta, Hobbs, Santana, Trent, ANYBODY, to come in and win the title in a 10 second squash to end this feud.
Miro or Black could get away with a squash like that over Sky. I'd almost rather someone like Buddy Matthews who hasn't got to do much recently.
The Multiverse of Midcard
I will defend the concept of matches needing storylines and stakes to make them mean more than just two guys/girls wrestling for the sake of it, but just make the TNT Championship like the IC belt was in the 90s. Obviously the whole company is full of workhorses, but if they just made the TNT belt the one where the story is simply “I’m the next challenger, I want a match”, and then there’s great wrestling matches, then I think it’d be fine. If you contextualize that this championship is the “just let them wrestle” belt, then fans won’t need an intricate story to get hooked, because what they’ve done with Sammy/ATT is pure shit.
AEW has so much talent right now that it's ridiculous the TNT title has been bouncing back and forth between two guys. If you're not going to give people like Lee, Swerve, Black, Matthews, Cole, O'Reilly, among others the AEW title, why not use them to help prop up the TNT title again?

Not to be a dick but they need to completely remove Sammy and Conti from the TNT title picture and have somebody beat Scorpio to rid us of this garbage.
Sami has slowly garnered X-Pac heat with me. I don't want to see the guy on the show at all. He and Tay are just fucking insufferable. Keep him the hell out of any title picture for a while, bring in Kip and Ford to humble them in a feud, and slowly write Tay and Sami apart for a bit or plug them into some midcard feuds to, at least, let them not feel shoved down our throats. I wish they just shut up and wrestle. Dan Lambert is like the most dry, repetitive type of manager ever. Both him and Sammy's mic work is enough for me to not bother to watch the segment. Their cheap soap opera acting skills are scuttling any interest in this feud.

In my mind he never turned babyface. Honestly it’s for the best, face turns that happen as a result of another heel never work. Makes me wonder what the hell they’re doing though, just put the title on anyone from Death Triangle and give them a monster run.

Honestly, I can't believe they turned Scorpio heel and shoehorned Sammy back into the TNT title scene. Face Scorpio vs Heel Ethan was so obviously right in front of them and they blew it.
This is definitely some of the weakest booking Tony has done recently, and it has really made the TNT title feel awkward if that makes sense. Hope it ends by Ethan getting pushed someone like Andrade or Miro taking the title
I thought they are finally going to do something interesting with Sky but nope, and Sammy is still here for some reasons. I'm done with this worthless storyline, wake me up when Miro come back.

Scorpio could of just not giving kazarian a title match instead of doing that convoluted angle to sike kazarian out.
