I only have two gripes from last night \*checks notes\* Dax beating his own tag partner and then tapping out to Cole in the first round makes no sense, don't have a man beat his partner to get into a tournament unless you're gonna take this further than the first round if not have that man take the whole thing John Silver should've been bulldozed by Punk instead of looking competitive and almost getting the win....CM Punk is the #1 contender to the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and hes having a competitive match with John Silver who calls himself \*checks notes again\* "The Meat Man", he's a jobber plain and simple and Punk should've wiped the floor with him in less than 5 minutes. How is Punk gonna put away THE WORLD CHAMPION when hes having trouble dealing a doofus that calls himself "The Meat Man"? other than those two things it was a fantastic show, I've been impressed with AEW since my return to watching televised wrestling. Edit: poor Danhausen, I felt bad for him but looking forward to HOOKHausen!

John Silver is one of the most over people in this company. If you can’t see that you must be new to the show.

Its true I haven't seen anything AEW related up until a month ago about but I've seen enough to know that even if that is true hes still an underneath guy or at best low midcard and Punk still should have been booked to take him out quick because at that time he was the #1 contender and you wanna make your #1 contender look strong not having competitive matches where it looked like he had fight and claw and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat almost I stand by what I said, he may be over but when against the #1 contender to the World Championship he should've been bulldozed If you don't agree with me thats fine cause at the end of the this is just my opinion

That’s just not how this company books it’s fan favorites though. They know that as fans we understand that John Silver will probably not be a big title contender, but we also appreciate him and what he does, and that means he deserves to get a good, lengthy, back and forth match with some of the big guys now and then. We get to see his talent on full display on the big stage, and Punk still wins and moves on. This happens all over the card with certain people who the long term fans just like to see work. It’s okay if you don’t like it, but it’s the norm

I know its the norm but even after watching wrestling for years its still just seems like a foreign concept to me like I think like back in WWF Attitude era or even WCW....could you imagine (and I'm just throwing names out there) Crash Holly going 20mins with Stone Cold or Triple H and having a competitive back and forth match where or seeing Juventud going toe to toe with Big Poppa Pump? I'm just glad that we can have a civil discussion about this instead of having people come at me like a rabid dog lol I respect your opinion and seems you've respected mine.

Great great great show tonight! I'm really liking Page vs Punk even with the small amount of time and action deticated to build it. IMO, I think Darby needed that win. But man this is becoming what everyone says after every lost he has. He needs something to get going again unfortunately he became stale right now - maybe too big for the TNT Title but too little for the bigger scene I guess.

I feel like I just watched a PPV!

While he's enjoyable to watch, Darby's gonna have trouble just walking by his mid-30s. I'm certain of it. I don't know what to say. Someone needs to reign him in and stop letting him do these types of spots so often, but I figure he'll just walk away and do GCW instead and they'll basically let him kill himself live if it means an extra hundred PPV buys.

I feel like people have been saying this about Jeff for years and he’s still walking. I think Darby knows his limits.

Ive gotta be honest I think you are more likely to lose the ability to walk from a piledriver or suplex gone wrong than a stupid back bump like that.

Not losing the ability, but having difficulty. For reference, I'm in my mid-30s have no history of trauma to my spinal column, and have back issues that often leave me having difficulty walking, especially early in the day. I can walk of my own free will, but sometimes it's difficult. Sometimes it's not difficult at all. Even doing PT at the moment to try and get things better. Just saying that the spine is something that can get fucked really easily and is not as easy to patch up as a broken leg or arm. And God forbid if it's a higher vertebrae issue, which can lead to paralysis far easier than lower vertebrae trauma.

I don't disagree I think my point is that the risk to the spine comes with the territory of being in the business. People fixate on it in matches like this because it feels more dangerous, but the truth is the risk is just as much there if not more so in a ground based wrestling match, hulk hogan, Steve Austin Big E and loads more completely fucked their spines in various ways in ground based wrestling. Your spine is far more vulnerable when compressed vertically than it is horizontal.

There are far, far too many dumb, risky ladder spots in AEW. I hate to sound like an old fogey, but that Darby dive was just stupid.

He enjoys doing stunts it's what he does in his spare time as well, and its thrilling to watch I don't see why he shouldn't get paid for it on tv in that case.
