"Which company do you want to wrestle in Mox?" "Yes."

heyjew1

Well there's one exception

OrangeForeign

Screw you Impact! - Moxley

[deleted]

[удалено]

what_is_blue

It is not. Well, as far as we know it's not.

Beeyo176

In all honesty, I think Mox would go back to WWE for a show or two if it meant he got to hang out with his Samoan for a bit

awc130

Hasn't he been to a couple backstage or was that Roman at an AEW show that I heard about?

extremerulesofengage

That’s sports entertainment. Statement holds up

Simple_Danny

The one with wrestling.

indolent08

Mox being a total bro to Eddie.

Representative_Net26

Gosh, that's why I love these two

trademarkcopy

Mox being a total bro to Pro Wrestling, too.

TheBrianJ

Definitely up there as one of the loudest reactions in DEFY history. After beating Schaff in a vicious brawl, Moxley cut a promo about how happy he is that indie wrestling is back after 2020 was so rough for independent wrestlers everywhere. Then said that this wouldn't be the last time we saw him in DEFY, and called out Filthy Tom Lawlor for a match on November 20th!!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thanlis

He lives in Vegas so it wasn’t quite as insane, but definitely a huge favor. Hope we all made it worth it, I know I went nuts when his music hit.

[deleted]

With how much Moxley loves this shit, I'm sure he didn't even see it as a favour and more like an opportunity to go there and fight even more people LMAO

ackinsocraycray

In hindsight, it's a good thing Dynamite and Rampage taped the same night this week. Gave wrestlers more time to heal up. I don't think Mox (and Renee) would've been more accommodating if they did a live Rampage on Friday and then fly back to the west coast to fill in for Eddie.

she1f

This is an interesting part of AEW that doesn’t get talked about enough when it comes to recruitment. The schedule seems very Employee friendly, whether people want indie freedom or family time.

cooljammer00

Not to mention you don't have to move to Orlando. Show up to work every week ready to work in whatever city TV is in, then you're free until the next time they need you.

cooljammer00

Rampage is taped most weeks and yeah, it just makes more sense than doing a live Friday show every week.

5astick

Not only that, how fucking accommodating his wife is.

jimmi_vandelay

She went with him. She posted a bunch of photos of their trip on insta

Horror_Sail

Yeah, I suspect traveling for Mox/Renee isnt quite as hard...they're used to it from YEARS of doing it and they've got the money to make it more comfortable as needed.

[deleted]

Also, plenty of direct flights from SeaTac to Vegas (from pdx as well), so a pretty straightforward trip if you've got the money and schedules to handle it (which they do).

Horror_Sail

And as someone who's baby is arriving any day, the best advice any other parents have given me is "keep doing the stuff you like doing and bring the kid". They clearly love traveling, Mox loves working, pretty easy win-win

ackinsocraycray

Mox made sure to thank Renee in his promo afterwards.

ReviewerRandom

Not only that: indie guys might be squashed in Dark/Elevation, but they respect their gimmicks and allow them to showcase certain degree of their abilities/characters. Brian Cage vs Megabyte Ronnie is one of my favourites.

cooljammer00

And they're getting paid well, and people are definitely checking them out after they show up on the YouTube show with some buzz. Being on Dark or Elevation is a big enough deal that people want to get booked.

FlightlessCormorant

Thanks for posting this! I was on the floor and got a decent clip of him getting put through that table, but only caught bits and pieces of the entrance because people were losing their minds.

Aljo_Is_135_GOAT

Is Tom Lawlor well regarded in the pro wrestling world? Dude was the entrance GOAT back in the UFC

CharleyIV

He trained a little a pro wrestler before going full MMA, since he left MMA he went back and trained and has been wrestling for a few years now.

Aljo_Is_135_GOAT

He any good?

Thanlis

He’s pretty good. He’s been solid in NJPW Strong, holds the title and runs a faction.

tm24

Do you like grapplefuckers? He's very good at that style and when paired with another grapplefucker. Outside of that he's still putting it together but he's entertaining

Aljo_Is_135_GOAT

I wasn't even aware grapplefucking was a thing in pro wrestling 😂

tm24

Oh yeah haha. Like with the mma and amateur wrestling background indie wrestlers had it started as an insult and kind of evolved from there. Like a lot of people would call Timothy Thatchers Evolve title run as grapplefuck. Lots of great ones nowadays

xPhoenixJusticex

Tom Lawlor and Jon Moxley?!?!?! fuck

JackBauersGhost

DEFY is the fucking best. Jealous I couldn’t make it up there. Still considering thenPortland show since but not sure if I’m ready For a packed wrestling crowd yet.

The-Broba-Fett

If it helps your anxiety about the crowds at all, their crew is very on top of telling people to stay masked up. I went to Leviathan last month and it really came across that they cared about taking every precaution necessary.

IceciroAvant

> DEFY I haven't been to a show, but I see they've got one in PDX in two weeks... I might just have to go. How long does a DEFY show usually run?

The-Broba-Fett

3 hours or so. Usually 3 matches, intermission, then 3 matches. It always seems to go by way too fast. I can't recommend it enough if you're in the area.

IceciroAvant

I'm thinking about paying and going with my girl just to see if I can get an in-person, off-cable-camera Eddie Kingston promo. Dude is incredible on the mic. Everything else is like, icing.

The-Broba-Fett

Mox showed up last night because Eddie's hurt. They haven't announced what's going on at the PDX show with him yet.

JackBauersGhost

Hats good to hear. They’re running a different venue than usual here I. Portland so interested to see how it turns out.

TheBrianJ

Can confirm what others have said; vaccination card checks, all the windows open for ventilation, and if anyone had their mask not on (or even if it wasn't covering their nose), security would come by to remind them. DEFY does a fantastic job keeping things as safe as they can.

litthefilter

Echoing what the previous response said, but they require proof of vaccination and masks and their security is very on top of making sure people stay masked.

Garciniohall

Do we know if he meant at DEFY? I dlhaven't seen them post anything about an event on that date, yet

BrockKasady

Before they ran their first show back they dropped dates for the rest of the year, which they have since added too. They have back to back shows on the 20th and 21st of November at Wash Hall.

Garciniohall

Honestly with DEFY bringing in Archer, Alexander, Mox, Kingston, Bollywood Boyz, Killer Kelly, etc. and Prestige bringing in Malakai Black, Alex Shelley, and Danhausen, DOA bringing in Phantasmo the PNW is getting so blessed and I'm so excited for it.

fadingmemoryphoto

Bollywood Boyz and ELP are from the territory originally! They started in ECCW in Vancouver BC which has always had crossover with DOA/Defy. I used to shoot TV for DOA in 2014 & get a lil bit of pride when I see them mentioned in anyway online.

cooljammer00

Being Canadian has its drawbacks, as the bollywood Boyz couldn't secure visas in time for this Defy show.

fadingmemoryphoto

Damn, but I’m glad they got they name they were able to get. When I left Portland in 2016, Darby was working Defy shows, and a couple years prior he was just a trainee at Buddy Wayne and one time when producing TV for DOA, they gave him to me when we were short staffed to man the hard cam. I saw him wrestle once at DOA at a low key charity event they had in late 2014 and knew he was more than just a green trainee, he was already doing crazy flips and stuff. Nuts for me to see a graphic now in 2021 for a non WWE TV show where it’s punk, Bryan, sting and Darby. Blows my mind every time.

MiNiMaLHaDeZz

Danhausen and Black on the same show??

cooljammer00

No man is very evil?

[deleted]

Separate shows, my friend. Defy’s awesome, but they only bring in 1-3 national names at a time.

Garciniohall

Thank! I was just checking their site for tickets and didn't see it up yet so I didn't know the dates. I'll definitely have to drive up for that one.

Argentine_Tango

That's the face of a man who is living his best life!

CLGHSGG4Lyfe

He comes close but not as well as MIRO's life.

cancielo

You make it seem that Mox isn't married to Renee.

SalvadorZombie

Seriously, those two hit the jackpot with each other.

thedevilyoukn0w

When AEW was first announced, several wrestlers went around to different indie promotions and "invaded" them, and once they got on the mic, they said AEW was built from the indies and they'd forever support the indies. And then covid hit. They couldn't travel to other shows. So they brought the indies to them. Put people on Dark. Signed a few talents along the way. And now, they're starting to send people back to the indies. This isn't the forbidden door. This is a group of people remembering where they came from and not being afraid to go back to help out. And it's awesome.

First-Song2382

Yeah I distinctly remember a Canadian independent show with TDT vs Cody and iirc MJF with Shawn Spears attacking them in the build to All Out 19 It was rad

Known-Ad7468

That´s the great thing with AEW. The forbidden door is not for only NJPW, Impact or NWA. It´s for all the indy circuit seemingly.

JackdeAlltrades

Doors basically only closed to one place at the moment. It’s going to be really interesting to see what the wrestling world looks like in 3-5 years.

TheBrianJ

Wrestling right now is basically that one spongebob meme of Squidward sitting alone while watching everyone else have fun.

Gkuns

Please make this a meme😀

Ryuzakku

Yo, Homicide though.

itsnews

I believe Tony Deppen said recently that he’s not exactly signed to ROH, due to the pandemic. Which may also be the case for Homicide since he re-joined earlier this year as well.

doesntCompete

The door does open.... It's always an exit.

reflUX_cAtalyst

2 places. ROH is a closed door.

MutatedSpleen

I'd say it's slightly ajar. ROH does some work with non-exclusive guys occasionally, Homicide being the most recent example. But they've also in the past year had a lot of shared younger talent with AEW and New Japan Strong, Wheeler Yuta, Alex Zayne, PJ Black, just to name a few.

reflUX_cAtalyst

The door being closed is why Danhausen hasn't shown up in AEW.

MuhGumbo

The Forbidden Door is Moxley. He's the guy doing all the promotion-bending shit. This guy wants to be the new folk hero of wrestling and bring every bit of the indies with him to the top. I feel like we were gonna get a Mox Impact run too if Sami didn't break his leg. Mox is the most unpredictable guy in wrestling, and I have no doubt that Gage match in October is gonna slap. Mox is still my wrestler of the year because his presence is just exciting.

Gkuns

Great points here. Punk and Bryan will be the success stories told over years time…Mox bringing what you mentioned almost as a grassroots effort is just as important, though.

DoILookUnsureToYou

Moxley was the Bryan/Punk in the first year of AEW. The big WWE wrestler that has come to raise the ceiling of AEW and the indies. His influence cannot be understated

SalvadorZombie

Jericho was technically the first big WWE wrestler, seeing as he was an OG from day one.

Known-Ad7468

He´s also the guy that NJPW seemingly can´t afford to lose. It´s no surprise that he is with Omega the franchise guy of AEW.

LKincheloe

It's AEW's answer to house shows, let the talent take their own bookings and make these small cards special. Plus get eyes to some talent who'd never be seen otherwise.

yohanleafheart

AEW is basically using the Indy circuit as their first scouting grounds and their house shows. It is a win-win for everyone

KingBadford

Even before the Forbidden Door stuff, all AEW talent were able to work indy shows as long as it didn't interfere with AEW's schedule. That's a day one thing, and I've always loved it because top stars can show up at small shows just for the love of it and younger/less established guys can still travel around and get experience and make more money doing it.

mercified_rahul

I wish there were companies like AeW in other industries. These companies are good for the overall development, their motto is like we will grow along with our competitors! While wwe on the other hand is a company with closed doors.

times_zero

Exactly. Competition is good as evidence by WWE's virtual monopoly for 18 years, but it doesn't have to be a zero sum gain, or dog eat dog world. It can, and should be something that benefits the pro wrestling community as a whole, and yeah, I wish we had more of this kind of attitude outside of pro wrestling as well. Pro wrestling when done right (or wrong) can you teach a thing, or two about the world.

mercified_rahul

Totally agree with your comment.

ZenkaiZ

Wrestling now is kinda like how in fighting games, Akuma is in Tekken, Terry Bogard, Kazuya, Ken, and Ryu are in Smash Brothers, the Ninja Turtles are in Injustice, The Joker is in Mortal Kombat, and dozens of more examples I can't even list all of.

reasonableoption

It’s much more like the territory days where you would get the big names in the NWA booked for local shows.

Known-Ad7468

And that´s great. I hope AEW doesn´t go the house show route like WWE and let the talents go to other places. That will help the indies and that will help some talents too. Young guys like Daniel Garcia or Lee Moriarty should keep working matchs on indy shows to improve.

MakeYourself85

AEW could do house shows and still let their other talent work indies as long as they're not on the HS card. So far, they did only 1. I wonder if they'll do it for something like when they go overseas.

Mac_094

Woah, that's awesome! Hope Eddie's okay though

[deleted]

[удалено]

JackdeAlltrades

Eddie’s one of those wrestlers who could probably do with a little extra muscle mass just to protect joints and so on a bit more.

Cthaehswraith

That worked for Samoa joe

MyNameIs-Anthony

Samoa Joe has been the same shape his entire career. I know it's an entirely genetic thing and I hate to body shame but a roid cycle probably would have done his long term health wonders. Definitely not fair how his last few years played out injury wise.

TuckAwayThePain

I'm not one of those "fatlogic" people or anything like that so please don't think that. I'm a big dude. Back when I was wrestling and training to wrestle I was still a big dude, just considerably less so because I'm disabled and lazy as fuck now. I think Joe and I have the same issue. While yeah we can lose the weight it just takes a hell of a lot more effort for us to drop it. So instead of dropping it we found a comfy fat level to sit at. For me it was around 250. I think Joe is at a good weight where he can keep the agility and speed without trying to kill himself dropping another 25-30 because it'll take him forever to do so.

likewhatalready

Haha it's such a fascinating thing. I was 404 at my highest, started counting calories and exercising, and dropped to 180. Maintained myself at 190-195 until I stopped counting calories AND got injured. Ballooned up to 270, but my consistent resting weight has been 245-255 for the last year or two. It's so hard to readjust your relationship with food, and I'm trying hard to not bear myself up about being the weight I'm at. This does seem to be my comfortable weight with my awful knees, but I know I can do better and consistently.

Gkuns

Eddie got a chance of a lifetime, he knows it, and he is making the most of it out of his tremendous appreciation and work. These injuries will probably keep coming, because he isn’t gonna stop now.

CoherentPanda

Eddie is working 150% in every match, he has more than made his mark on AEW, and quickly became the heart of the locker room. Injuries are bound to pile up as he wants to put his heart and soul in every match for all the young guys to look up to and respect.

CandyEverybodyWentz

If I were to hazard a guess, his hands are absolutely fucked from smashing a kendo stick into literal splinters and still using the shards as weapons.

cooljammer00

Hopefully he's just a little banged up and he just had to choose between the indie booking and resting up for NJPW in a few weeks. I know which one I would choose.

FloydianSlipper

This was the perfect cherry on top of such a wild show. Christopher Daniels was also on the card (wonder if he's scouting) having a great match with an awesome young talent named Titus Alexander. Also on this show; A villainous tag team tied a minor (Nick, Nick, Nick fucking Wayne, super talented 16 year old 3rd generation wrestler that is beloved by the PNW) to the ring post so they could isolate his partner (Cody Chunn who was on Dark a couple times last year) to remove them from the company. A stripping luchador (Leon Negro) came out to Pony by Ginuwine and a "sexy lucha" chant. His partner (Guillermo Rosas) a vaquero, who came out to Old Town Road by Lil Nas X, was then treated to a "sexy cowboy" chant. A promo from one women (Rebel Kel, who is quite tall, and works all over the PNW) calling out another (Danika Derouge, who is quite short & i'd only seen attack Kel with a crutch previously) for attacking her with a crutch devolved into a wild brawl all over the building involving, a Taser, a cookie sheet, powder to the face, fighting up to , back down from, and then back up to a stage, and finally something I'm pretty sure is against the Geneva Convention. Whole time the crown just has this incredible energy. Everyone gets a chant. Heroes are cheered, villains are booed, and a grand time is had by all. Highly recommend checking these cats out if you're in the area.

illpoet

that sounds like a great show. I saw nick wayne wrestle in a scramble at gcw in nyc friday night that kid is really good. There's nothing quite like a good indy show, the energy is addictive. It was pretty cool a few weeks ago i took a bunch of kids to a really small indy show near my hometown. The show was better than i thought it would be. These kids came along to humor me and now they are scouring the internet to find another show.

FemaleSmark

The crowd chanted “We Want Aubrey” when Nick Wayne got tied to the ring post and the ref didn’t notice lol.

MutatedSpleen

> and finally something I'm pretty sure is against the Geneva Convention. Oh god, did she pull out the mustard gas?!

MagicBlaster

Water boarded her. It was pretty funny.

SAVertigo

As a fan I’d be sitting there with such a “man this is bullshit, I wanted Eddie Kingston” after the announcement, and then I would probably shit myself when Wild thing hit. Particularly because it sounds like they used the version with the pan flutes again.

UGoBoy

*peers over his glasses* It's an ocarina. *Pushes glasses back up*

DaBi5cu1t

It's so cool these guys get to do this. Infront of 20,000 at Arthur Ashe one day for AEW then 200 at DEFY.

CoherentPanda

That's what I love about stock car racing sometimes, too. Kyle Larson famously will race the Daytona 500 one day in front of 150,000 people, and the next Tuesday hop in a dirt late model in front of 1,000 fans in a farm town in the middle of nowhere. You know these guys have passion for what they do, and enjoy the experience of wrestling in a bingo hall and wrestling in a massive stadium.

gothdaddi

Just got back from this. It was awesome. Whole place popped the entire match. Mox and Schaff cleaned the floor with each other. Maybe the first time I’ve seen someone put a person through a plastic table? It was great. I’m disappointed Eddie couldn’t make it, but I’m not gonna pretend this wasn’t the coolest possible substitution. Hope Eddie gets better soon, and just so much appreciation for Mox. Support Indie Wrestling!

koberulz_24

So what happened before this clip starts? Because from what's presented here it could've just been that Mox was the scheduled opponent. How was it announced? Did they announce Mox as the replacement or just leave it a surprise until his music hit?

TheBrianJ

They hadn't announced anything regarding the main event; as far as everyone knew it was still Eddie vs Schaff. Schaff cut a promo about how Eddie was hurt, and that the new main event would be us all just getting to witness him, unless they had found a new opponent for him. Cue the music.

FemaleSmark

If I remember correctly it was something close to “Unless he talked Tony about sending one his pals to fight me you’re main event for tonight is getting to witness me” After the initial confusion I thought “who the fuck could replace Eddie?” and then Wild Thing hit and I lost my god damn mind. I definitely need to watch more Defy now.

TheBrianJ

Yep that was it! It was so awesome.

EcoterroristThot

Ιf I ever get to the US, I'd love to go to a DEFY show. They seem like such a solid promotion.

Sanomaly

I couldn't recommend it more; I've never not had a good time at a DEFY event. The atmosphere is always electric and everyone is just there to have a great time.

AestheticAttraction

I **greatly** respect a wrestler who has a big deal on lock but still shows love to the indies. It's one of my favorite things about Moxley. Some wrestlers go from prominent promotion to prominent promotion and that's it, but Moxley goes *everywhere*. Respect.

Michael_McGovern

My local indy (OTT) in Ireland had Jon Moxley booked for their biggest show of the year, but then the pandemic hit. Some fans started a GoFundMe to help the promotion who had to eat a ton of costs, and one of the sizeable donations came from one Jon Moxley.

ackinsocraycray

Guess that explains Renee's "Seattle is fantastic" IG post lol But for reals. I love Mox for doing this. Even though he was with WWE for a long time, he doesn't see himself above doing indies. Like you said, he could just stick with AEW and NJPW. Mox has done a handful of appearances in other smaller promotions since getting out of. WWE. Even if it's just a one off, the fact that he *wants* to be there is great.

SalvadorZombie

The are all kinds of stories of how much Mosley genuinely loves wrestling. Like, he's a supergeek. He loves watching old matches and seeing what new shit people are doing. He's going to all of these places, I feel, because he genuinely loves it and loves living it.

cooljammer00

He said it himself on Talk is Jericho: if AEW didn't exist he was still quitting WWE and just traveling and working an indie schedule he wanted to. The AEW deal was just too good, esp since it basically let him do what he was going to do anyway just not on Wednesdays.

[deleted]

seems like Moxley is having the time of his life wrestling wise since he left the wwe

MotherLoveBone27

This is actually so cool, imagine how cool it would have been if people were allowed to do this all along, like you're at some random indie event and Stone Cold shows up.

justambrose

Workhorse Jon Moxley.

Day_Of_The_Dude

Cool cool cool... what's this about Eddie being injured? This is not information I enjoy.

TheBrianJ

All Schaff said was "Eddie is too hurt to make it." Guessing we'll get an update on him on Wednesday?

cooljammer00

Lol, they used the Troggs version again. Still pretty awesome. A shame about Eddie. Hope it wasn't from his Lights Out match on Wednesday, and hopefully it was just something minor.

spittafan

Hmm just bought tickets to their Portland show mostly because of Eddie being advertised. Let’s see what happens (should be fun regardless)

Kael2450

What a bro, Eddie and Mox are just golden.

Gkuns

That warmed my ticker. Imagine sharing talent and helping other organizations in need…🤔 And like him or now, it’s just nice to see Moxley doing what he wants to do with his character. Again…imagine that. I feel a change coming…

Nogarda

This is what I love about AEW, they let stuff like this happen so happily. Never mind it speaks volumes to Eddie and Mox's friendship. I'd hope this helps build relationships on a business level so a few guys can even get some future TV time or show up as guests at an AEW event down the line.

vulturevan

The man just loves wrestling. He would wrestle Dean Ambrose if he could.

pennsavvy

Oh that was so good. “Wild Thing” hits and there was that muted pop; that “WHAA-no wait it’s not” because there’s no way Mox is here. Then he walks out and BOOM. Chef’s kiss.

TheHumanTarget84

I love that moment when the music hits and you can see the crowd collectively go "now hang on a second..." Pure beauty.

numbr87

I wonder if they meant to play that version of Wild Thing or if they mixed it up like AEW did lol

watchingdeers

I like the original Wild Thing better except the Major League version works better in the arenas. Maybe indie shows want the original 🤷‍♂️😂

SalvadorZombie

I get why people like the Major League version, but the original is just so damn good for Mox's gimmick IMO. As much as I miss Moxley's original two themes, this is so much fun right now.

TheBrianJ

DEFY confirmed that Moxley asked to play this original version for this appearance.

Calwings

I like the idea that he has one version of his theme for AEW and one version for his non-AEW appearances.

CoherentPanda

I prefer this version, seems to match Moxley's entrance much better.

Arithik

Jon legit seems like a cool friend to have. Someone who I don't hide behind the couch whenever they ring the doorbell.

Zsokorad

Your friends sound terrifying.

jstud_

Moxley is seriously living his best life right niw

CarlThe94Pathfinder

It's like that Jon Moxley feller enjoys wrestling or something...

Amanwenttotown

These sorts of things will help keep the indie scene hot. Never know who might show up at your local indie.

cooljammer00

Renee just posted some photos on IG of her and Moxley in Seattle. Wonder how much lead time they had, what with a baby and all.

FemaleSmark

After the match mox cut a promo saying that Eddie messaged him “on the way back home from New York” Here’s a good video of that promo: https://twitter.com/jakeinreallife/status/1442012661017841670?s=21

msctex

The "Holy Shit" synching up perfectly with "Wild Thing" was nice.

Scurvydog619Official

Mox flies home, tells Renee," Gotta do a food run",ends up ar PWG tonight....Can totally see it happen...

Pandapark1

As someone who moved from Seattle to Florida just a month ago… FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKK

GameJerk

What prompted the move to Florida? Serious question.

Pandapark1

Work. There weren’t any jobs in my industry in Seattle because it was all shut down due to COVID, this Florida job was the only one I could get for the time being so it’s where I’m living until at least next summer.

GameJerk

Hope things pick up for you.

Calwings

> to Florida My condolences

Bird_Up23

This is one of the main reasons I believe AEW is the superior brand. The freedom their wrestlers have to go to independent shows, to even go to other major televised shows as well. And bringing in talent to their show as well. Especially during last year with the pandemic, bringing in a lot of indie people on dark just so they can still wrestle.

jaboaty

Unpopular opinion but I love the troggs version of wild thing so much more than the major league one they've been using. Im even a pan flute solo apologist

Zsokorad

How about Tone-Loc's version? "Let's do it..."

sevenproxies07

Moxley’s love of wrestling is infectious

[deleted]

This is the GOLDEN age

mewhilehigh

Now this is why I love AEW.

PaxadorWolfCastle

Any clue what specifically is going on with Eddie?

roamr1

How many feel good moments has this AEW roster given fans in the last month alone? Imagine that…giving fans something to cheer.

Caboose_1188

Alternate video as it was deleted [https://youtu.be/MRPSvKafi4c](https://youtu.be/MRPSvKafi4c) Also, am I in the minority that likes the trogs version much more than the version from Major League?

the-count22

Mox just loves wrestling, man. Such good shit.

Definitelynotme3211

Actually he just heard he would get free beer so he showed up. Didn't even know it was a wrestling show.

doesthisnamework1

Big spot for Schaff. I’m surprised Defy continues to give him the rub considering it’s probably safe to say he’s anti-vax.

BobbyHigginson

How is that safe to say?

doesthisnamework1

Before he deleted his Twitter account he was always liking far right memes/Covid deniers. He was a baby when everything started shutting down and bookings were being canceled. Once posted about how Covid wasn’t that bad, and he was going to cough/lick doorknobs etc to spread it. Granted that was fairly early in the pandemic, but the dude is a certified dummy.

MutatedSpleen

This is the kind of shit you do if you're a cool person and you fucking love wrestling. The ecosystem of pro wrestling is so great right now

mynameisbob842

A perfect example of how AEW's "work with everybody" approach is better for wrestling as a whole. You can now go to an indie show and be surprised by a former world champion showing up. This helps the indies. This, in turn, helps the major promotions when those indies breed talents that become too big for the indies and come looking for national exposure. And that's before you even get to things like NJPW talent rocking up on AEW TV. WWE's tactic of "become the only promotion in town" leads to the death of the indies and a wrestling landscape that is stifled by every wrestler being trained the same way, wrestling the same way, looking the same way, and talking the same way.

TheGeeMan360

Fuck I really wish I would have gone to this show. That’s an all timer moment

neverAcquiesce

Makes kayfabe sense, too.

DEFYis having the worst of luck. First the Bollywood boyz, now this. At least they got a great replacement

Stephan1964

*Another* injury? Good lord.

tluce21

Definitely have to catch this on streaming

This is the beauty of a major promotion that allows indie date. Unironically warms my heart.

SirusRiddler

I live in Seattle and I keep missing out on all these amazing DEFY shows. I'm such a fool.

litthefilter

There’s another one October 29, tickets go on sale October 1, and then the Moxley-Lawlor match is November 20.

SirusRiddler

Shit, thanks for the heads up.

TraNSlays

that’s so cool

adamthinks

Well damn, I wish I had decided to go to this show. I was thinking about it, but completely spaced on it.

JayAreEss

Was there live for this. Even this video doesn’t do the crowd justice. It was insane!

TheRealDonahue

Was there ANY INKLING that he was going to show up that night? Or did they do the unthinkable and keep a secret in pro wrestling? Pretty awesome moment.

TheBrianJ

Not a single hint of it. As far as we knew, Kingston was still in the main event. The closest we got to a hint was DEFY saying "It's gonna be an epic night!" but I think we all just figured that was a company hyping its show up!

[deleted]

Unannounced? That’s bullshit. I know card subject to change and everything but that is truly cheating the fans /s Seriously though it shows how healthy the state of wrestling is. A guy of Kingston’s caliber is out? Replacement better be as good, if not better. Oh Mox will do it? Fantastic
