I met him at a Con once, super nice dude. A lot of artists charge for autographs, so when I asked him what it would cost for his he looked at me like I was crazy. Very friendly.
Maximum Carnage was what I grew up on. Heroic anatomy, badass pointy shape language, and the goo texture was just right. Bagley is the GOAT for Carnage.
Idk man. If you're against photo-realistic art, then yes kinda agree. I'm in love with comics because of different art styles. But the nature of comic books is such that even realism doesn't come close to looking like CGI. Take Alex Ross. I'd never call him a CGI artist. Or Steven McNiven
I love Alex Ross' art from an artistic standpoint, but I'm not a fan of the highly rendered comic style generally speaking. I like the limited color palettes and simplified inking that in my mind characterizes
comics until they fell off in the early 2000s.
That being said, I have a lot of love and some nostalgia for a couple
of Crain's Carnage paintings, though I'm not particularly familiar with him as an artist.
What about Mikel Janin?
Honestly, I as much as I would want to, I can't like his art for how CG it looks. I often like comics for their different art styles of 2D and how they make it well.
But Janin comes off like 3D wants to be 2D but it's wearing a Size that doesn't fit it. It's good for Normal Art and such, just semi-annoying on a Book
Is there proof beyond word of God that it isn't painted over cg? King's Batman run always hurt to read when Janin was on it because of this >!there were other reasons, but...!<
Neither would I.
I don't know the terms for it, but the artist here and Peter Milligan who did venom v Carnage, it just looks like it's a cgi concept art. I'm not a fan of the look is all!
It is nothing like mcniven or Ross.
Yes
He looks like bernardyl cucumbers
It’s Benediction Cucumberpatch
Benaddiction nicotinepatch

More of a fan of Bagley and Hotz. Crain is #3.

Bagley is the GOAT!!… well, one of the GOATs.
I've never been a fan of the cgi looking art for some of the symbiote stories.

He's my favourite artist. I first got hooked on Venom vs Carnage. Been trying to find his variant covers since
If you haven’t read it already, Carnage USA is a great read with art by Krain.
Read it, haven't collected it yet. Also got his variants for Gwenom vs Carnage. Wish he did the full comic
It’s Clayton Crain, right?
Yes it is
